Fix your menu! They don't have Vietnamese food. Drove from Carrabelle specifically for the pho

Oh my! I am not sure where to start. Being in Florida, we wanted to ensure that we got some good seafood. I came across this establishment in Yelp. The atmosphere is laid-back. As I looked at the menu, I got a little overwhelmed, not because the offerings were too many. It's just that everything look good. My husband asked the cashier what she would eat. Her response, was everything! She then started rattling off the dishes, why they were good, portion sizes, etc. Whatever she was selling, I was buying, it all sound good. We each ordered something different. I had the chicken philly, our son had the catfish & wings, and my husband had the red snapper. Every meal was just as good as the other. We can go in there today and have the best meal in the world, but the next meal that you go in there for might not be the same. I don't think the consistencies are there with a small restaurant like that until they become established and they have a good flow of business so We're waiting to see that happen. They have a great concept of food and they do a good job job I've been in there. The food is good just like I said it's just a little inconsistent. Delicious Seafood at an affordable price. Counter Service with the food served in Styrofoam boxes and plastic utensils. Small foot in a strip shopping center with about a dozen tables. Four stars for a good pho place in a city not known for their Vietnamese cuisine. I came here after a series of delayed flights while coming to Tally for business. Thankfully this restaurant was close to there airport. Was greeted immediately by a gentleman at the register and placed an order for a P2 large - it was $12. A bit more expensive than I am used to but, there's not much competition in the area. It came quickly and was nice and hot. The broth was a bit oilier than I am used to, but overall a good balanced flavor. Will probably try the seafood they offer next time if I am in the area. read more

This is a great local restaurant. The part that most people don't know is that they do not only offer seafood. They also offer pho. However, I went for the seafood and it was sensational. I had fried grouper with shrimp on the side. I also had hush puppies and okra. There was so much food I almost had to take some home. The seafood was very well seasoned. The couple who own the places have great hospitality as well. I love their sweet tea. It's not like syrup but it's just sweet enough. read more

After two "not so authentic" experiences, I gave this place a try and I was impressed. I got the House Pho which is one of the most popular sellers. The flavor was great. It tasted very fresh...almost like it was cooked for hours....that's how well the flavor set in. The portion size was great as well and the price point was appropriate. Next time, I will be trying the seafood to add to my review. ATMOSPHERE: Small, quaint and casual. There are about 10 small tables available if you wish to dine in and there is a TV as well. I have been nauseous for days and wanted something light, but filling. My stomach was NOT going to bed hungry, again. I was anxious, but tried the House Special, egg rolls--I had too, and Thai tea. It was EVERYTHING I needed. The broth was flavorful, once everything was added in it was hearty enough to fill me up, but still light enough for me enjoy and not mess with my stomach. And of course, once hoisin, always hoisin. I'm happy we have this delicious gem . It's been a hard week of no food. I can eat again. :)! Probably going back tomorrow. read more

I found this biz on Yelp and decided to check it out based on its high rating. It's a small place in a small strip center, but the inside is very clean and inviting. The owner works the front counter and he is very friendly and personable. The restaurant is an interesting concept, being part southern seafood, part Vietnamese food. I have to say I found the food disappointing. I had the fried grouper which tasted very fishy, so I'm guessing it wasn't very fresh. My husband had the fried snapper which definitely tasted better, but he didn't care for the cornmeal breading. Both came with fries and hushpuppies which were decent. We ordered a side of cheese grits and regretted it the moment they were brought to our table. They were a bit soupy and had a disturbing neon yellow color. I didn't bother having more than one bite because they were the worst grits I've ever eaten. They had a very cheap, artificial taste. We also ordered a side of okra which was very good. Originally, I wanted to eat here to try their Pho... should have stuck with that plan. All of the pho coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing! Since my first visit back in 2015, Red Snapper has become my favorite TLH destination for Pho, Bo Kho, Bun Bo Hue and Bahn Mi. There are plenty of killer vermicelli- and rice-based dishes as well. There's nothing on the menu that hasn't been good. The gentleman behind the counter is always courteous and accommodating - and knows the menu well when recommendations are needed. Looking for crawfish? - Red Snapper's been serving them up Viet-Cajun style for years now. Spartan interior with both tables and booths. Worth the drive. We almost did not find it, because the dumb GPS kept us driving around the area of Publix. So back to the pho and seafood. My experience with red snapper on Monroe Street in Tallahassee has been great. The service is always good. I normally order the shrimp scampi. It is always consistently good. My other favorite is a blackened farm raised catfish. I'm pretty picky about the blackening spice on my food. I don't like it too much or too little it needs to be just right. I live pretty far from this place but was introduced to it from a friend. That being said I'd definitely make the trip to visit it again and try other things from their huge menu. It's basically two restaurants in one, casual seafood and Vietnamese cuisine all in one place. I ordered the rare beef pho and vermacelli grilled pork bowl. The broth for the pho was rich and I could tell they used all the right spices like star anise and corriander. The vermacelli bowl was huge and had a generous amount of noodles and grilled marinated pork. The fried roll was crispy and had lots of filling in it. I also ordered the bahn Mi (Vietnamese sub) to go and my husband ate two of them back to back so I'd say it was a win. Pho 7, NO! Pho me, NO! The best Pho in Tallahassee does not have Pho in its name. Red snapper seafood and more is a unique restaurant in aspects that it is a American seafood and Vietnamese restaurant at the same time. The highlight of their seafood menu is their one pound snow crab served with garlic sauce, potato, and corn. The highly of their Vietnamese menu is definitely their pho. I would recommend their P2: beef, tripe, tendon... all of these dishes are price reasonably fair. The portionings are huge. What I loved if that the seafood menu had an add on option. Where you can try some of their seafood staples in a small portion so you can try both sides of the menu. For example, I ordered the pho with an add on of garlic shrimp. BOY I WAS LIVING. Best Pho' in town. Broth that is rich in flavor yet light enough to make me want to eat more pho' every time I get to the bottom of the bowl. Friendly efficient service. I finally had the opportunity to try this hidden gem on the Southside of Tallahassee and it did not disappoint! I consider myself a crawfish connoisseur but was a little hesitant as they are all cooked in a garlic butter sauce with the options of adding spice. Given this is one of two places in Tallahassee that serve fresh crawfish I had to try it. Best. Crawfish. Ever. Hands down. Change My Mind! I'm a Southeast TX native where Crawfish Shacks are as common as fried chicken joints are around here and I have had my fair share of amazing crawfish, none of them touch this. Yay! I caved in and finally made the trek down south to Red Snapper. And it's definitely worth the trip. There's always something fascinating about discovering great food in a place that doesn't pride itself on appearance. Sometimes all you need are friendly faces and above average cuisine. Red Snapper epitomizes this concept. The Pho: with a few varieties on the menu, we landed on a traditional mix of sliced beef and brisket. (Listed separately on the menu, but they will happily accommodate for a $2 charge). Fortunately, the meat was cooked perfectly. Tender as could be until the very last bite toward the bottom of the bowl. I also quite enjoyed the addition of thinly sliced onions in the broth. It added excellent flavor to the dish. As far as the broth itself goes, compared to the remainder of Tallahassee restaurants serving pho, Red Snapper has one of the better broths. I just had the best bowl of bun bo hue I've ever eaten in my life. It was amazing. I also got spring rolls that were massive and perfectly made. I had the pork belly bahn mi that was so good I almost bought another one. I will admit that I was skeptical when I walked in and saw an older white gentleman standing behind the counter, but he explained that his wife is the cook and is from Vietnam. Red snapper has the best pho in Tallahassee! Real rare beef, giant bowls and the house pho has tripe and meatball as well. I love the concept of this place, as it's owned by a married couple one Vietnamese and one a true southerner, which leads to a strange but original half fish fry half pho and friends kind of a menu. 10 minutes from southwood, we tried this place out for lunch one day and couldn't help but get a pho bowl each and share a half scallop half oyster plate with fries and hush puppies. The hush puppies are amazing in every way. We could have had 100. The scallops were huge, definitely sea scallops not bay scallops which I was over the moon about. Everything was so fresh and incredible. It was great to get giant steaming bowls of pho with the sides of jalapeño, Mint and sprouts. I liked that there weren't any sprouts in the pho already because I'm allergic so it always sucks to spend time picking them out. The beef was also rare which is great because I like being able to choose how cooked it gets, which isn't always the case at every restaurant. Well well well! We have come to love this litttle hidden gem! The guy at the counter is always is always great. Red snapper doesn't have their liquor license but he let us bring in our Red stripe beers during our dinner. We had the pho this time with homemade spring rolls. The pork spring rolls are soo good best I've had other than when a friend's relative makes them. Pricey but they will have you craving more. Next we will try the crawfish. read more

When we walked in, there weren't many people there, so...It was also a Saturday night. Service was good. Very nice guy up front! Food: So, I wasn't really expecting anything, lol, since it IS Tallahassee. I was pleasantly surprised. The Meatball Pho was pretty great. I got the Large and it was a very generous portion. The Broth was a little sweeter, which I really liked! I actually inhaled my bowl of pho. Definitely very pleased with Red Snapper's version. I've had much worse at other places in Atlanta. The Tofu Banh Mi was super good! My bf mentioned he thought it was cooked/made well. I had maybe 2 bites and wish I stole it sooner from him. Tasted fresh & the Tofu was done just right. Red Snapper is under new ownership and management. The first dish I had was a rice vermicelli with grilled pork and egg roll. The presentation was gorgeous. Rice vermicelli on one side and a crispy salad topped with basil, cilantro and daikon radish slivers. Top this with the very flavorful fish sauce and it was great. It was very satisfying. The freshness of the veggies and the complexity of flavors made my mouth happy. So, today I'm trying the pho. Rare beef with meatball and an order of spring rolls. The sprouts, Thai basil and lime were all fresh. The broth tastes as good as it smells. She makes fantastic broth! The owner is from Texas and his wife - the wonderful chef, is Vietnamese. Under new management!! Everything was delicious! I had the rice with grilled pork chop, egg cake and fried egg and the Mrs. had the rice vermicelli with grilled pork and egg roll. Both dishes packed a lot of flavor and very authentic to the Vietnamese culture. Heard their pho was the bomb too, that's on my list to try next. Would highly recommended if you are craving some good Vietnamese food. The best I've had so far in Tallahassee and I've been here all my life!! As the name implied, this is more of a simple (mostly deep fried) seafood restaurant with a Vietnamese twist. We just landed and we were hungry. After getting our rental car, this place was half way between our hotel, so it was perfect. It was around 230p, so only 2 or 3 others. We quickly ordered the large house pho, regular house pho and today's special which was fries, fried fish and few shrimps. As mentioned by others,!the owner was very friendly. Food came out in about 5 min. The fried fish and shrimp was ok. The breading was bit heavy on the shrimp thus you don't really taste the shrimp as much. The fish and fries was good. Ok, main reason I came here was for pho. As I'm from Texas and travel often, I have more than my share of pho. First thing I've noticed is the noodle as it's the flat type of rice noodle, which is not the traditional thinner pho noodles used elsewhere. Secondly is the chewiness of the beef. Had it been cut thinner, it would have been easier to chew on. For $10 regular and $12 large, this is on the pricey side for pho, especially for such a small restaurant. In Texas, that large would have been regular size and for cheaper. All in all, it failed my expectation for a 5 star review. As I didn't read all the reviews, perhaps most of that is towards the seafood than pho. I usually try to be kind and fair in reviewing independent business as I loved to support them over the larger chain stores. In this case, I believe these are simple fixes and hope the owner takes the suggestion with open mind. read more

Had a large bowl of pho (P2 - rare steak, beef flank, tendon and tripe). The broth was flavorful, portion was large, and came with a generous helping of fresh bean sprouts, basil, peppers, and lime. I also ordered an add-on of 6 fried battered shrimp which was also good. The restaurant was clean, the service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and the prices were reasonable.
