I used to come here all the time as a student 10 years ago, and I wanted to see if it was still as good 10 years later! The interior has changed, and it seems the food may have as well, but it is still delicious! I was happy to see so many vegetarian options! I went with the orange tofu, which was served over rice with some veggies, and it was so good! I liked how you can customize what you would like. They have many options for sauces to add on as well, so next time, I may try the hibachi option to try more of the sauces. Mr. Roboto has several locations in Tallahassee, Florida. This location is situated on Tennessee Street near many other restaurants, shops and shops frequented by college students. When we arrived on a Thursday evening at 7:00 pm, the place was hopping. Every table was full and there was a line to order at the counter. This restaurant offers counter service. Place your order at the counter and pick it up at the counter when your name is called. The restaurant probably has 20 or so tables, so there is no problem hearing your name called. There was ample parking behind the restaurant and the interior colorful wall mural is eye-catching! The menu has been simplified in recent times. They offer hibachi style meals and several other common Asian style meals at low/fair prices. It's a budget friendly restaurant for sure. The least expensive meal is $8.95. Sodas are $2.25. The counter service staff operate in a swift and efficient manner. Processing a line of folks with their orders and handing out said orders in less than 15 minutes on average. We arrived with a party of 6 and had to put two tables together after other guests left. Between us all, we ordered Hibachi Chicken, Hibachi Steak, Orange Chicken, Orange Tofu, Spicy Shrimp, and Hibachi Shrimp. Again, less than 15 minutes for the orders to be called out to us. This is a fast serve, counter service, no frills type of place. Meals are served in to go styrofoam containers, which works well, considering the portion size is large enough that everyone in our party and most guests we observed, took half of the meals home. Along with the meals, the restaurant has a self-serve counter area with small round plastic containers and lids for diners to fill yum-yum, spicy yum-yum and teriyaki sauces to accompany each meal. I saw plenty of patrons loading up on the sauces. The sauces are a tasty accompaniment to the fried rice I chose as part of my entree. I was accustomed to seeing yum-yum sauce a little bit thicker than what was available. Still tasty though. I'm not going to say that this is the best Asian food I have every tried, but for the speed, value and quantity served, this hit the spot for our large group and also seemed to be well-received for the crowd we encountered. read more

Visit on August 4. During a brief stay in Tallahassee we wanted to try something local. A friend told me this a locally owned restaurant. Not sure if this is true. If so, this experience is especially disappointing. I placed an order via phone because I am not ready to dine in. The handling of my order went very well. I was visiting my 90 year old aunt and she told me she really liked this place. I went for her. We ordered the Mahi hibachi with brown rice and vegetables and a steak hibachi same sides. The lady at the counter was super nice and helpful. She was the best part of the whole experience. The food was ready timely and the portions were plenty. Got home and then.. Fish was very dry. The steak was horrible. There were nerves and very hard parts. I wasn't even sure what part of meat it was. Rice lacked flavor. The vegetables seemed to be frozen soaked in oil and warmed up. The overall restaurant was not clean to standard and I experienced a rude encounter with the employees that I'm not familiar with. We were rushed to place our orders, took 10 minutes for someone to finally get the order, and when they finally did, he gave us the wrong order total and walked away from the register (which left us unable clarify the order and had to find somewhere else to eat lunch). Awesome food, I went to Roboto located at West Tennessee St in Tallahassee. But I am giving 2 Star, because Indoor Quality Air is the worst I have felt in years, Returns air filters of A/C units show they have not been replaced in years, are totally dirty and air diffuser full of mold and dust, very bad for the health of workers that have to be inside that space working long hours everyday. Had a work event in Tallahassee a decided to try Roboto's for dinner. I orders the General Tso's Chicken and the Crab Puffs. The serving size of the chicken was huge but the chicken it's self seemed to be a little tough and over cooked. The fried rice on the other hand was very good. I did love that they had a sauce bar too. The Yum Yum , Spicy Yum Yum and Teriyaki were my favorite sauces. The Crab Puffs though were not very good. They had them placed on a bed of greens so by the time I had arrived back to my hotel the bottom of them were soggy. The only thing you could taste in them was the overpowering cream cheese. They're able to make anything vegetarian and don't just give you plain tofu they actually treat it with the same love as the meat which keeps it flavorful instead of being bland. Ordered take out, food was cold. Next I ordered a specialty roll that had no vegetables in the description but ended up having cucumber, and rotten avocado in it. Rotten to the point where it was black. After asking and make sure there wouldn't be any vegetables, I proceeded to go home and find out it came with it regardless. There is always something delicious I am discovering, and after every visit, I leave wondering why I don't come here more often. On my most recent visit I ordered the tuna tataki sushi bowl. Everything about it was good, but I didn't really enjoy the basic house salad that was smushed into the bowl with it. Not knowing that it even came with salad, I ordered the seaweed salad on the side. (It makes a much better compliment to the raw fish and rice pairing.) I did ask staff afterwards if, in the future, the house salad can be substituted for seaweed. They said you could replace it with anything but that! The sushi bowl is $9.99 while the seaweed salad is $3.95. Bummer. I guess I'll be going for something else next time. Alternatively, the sushi rolls are a steal here--being only $8.50 for two of 'em.
