I had previously given this Red Star Vapor location a 5 star review in August 2019. Unfortunately, after my interaction with them today, I will no longer give them my business.
I had purchased a Voopoo Drag 3 mod from them a few days ago. I had noticed that evening that the mod did not hold it's wattage setting after a few hours of not using it. For example, when I would get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, and of course grab my mod on the way, instead of the mod being at my normal setting of 65w, it would be now be at 30w. Over the next 3 days, this was happening more and more....even if the mod was unused for just an hour or two (this was with the mod NOT being in "smart mode".) After a bit of online research, I confirmed that this was not how the mod was designed to function (unless it was in smart mode, which it was not), and I was not the only one experiencing this issue.
I took the mod back to Red Star Vapor this afternoon, expecting a refund as this particular mod had an obvious defect, and when I left, I couldn't have been more disappointed.
The employee told me that I could not return it because he was not able to confirm the defect, which would be difficult to do since the mod has to remain unused for at least an hour or two. Of course, the insinuation was that I was not being truthful. As a 59 year old military retiree, who of course was not on a mission to scam my local vape shop by returning a 60.00 dollar mod, I found this offensive.
After further discussion, I was told that at best I would be given in-store credit. I explained to him that I simply wanted a refund. His response was that was not possible as even the return policy on the Red Star website stated that cash refunds were not allowed, and only in-store credit would be given. Well, the following is a copy and paste from their own website regarding their return policy;
"Return Policy: Red Star Vapor has a 30 day return policy for Manufacturer Defects. 30 day return does not apply to Disposable Vapes. Packaging, boxes and accessories that came with the product must be returned. NO returns on non-defective items or "buyer's remorse"."
As you can see, there is no mention of in-store credit only. At this point, I was being lied to. Please keep in mind, since Feb 2019, I have been a regular customer who has spent well over 2k total in this store, and this is how I was treated the first time I tried to return a product of any kind.
Needless to say, I will no longer be giving Red Star any of my business in the future. read more
