Really unhappy with my last experience with red bloom, and I won't be going back. I hadn't been to a salon in a few years, I had just let my hair grow and it was almost to my bum. I wanted to cut my hair and go lighter. I made an appt, (with Jodie Lynn) and was told I would need to come in for a consult. At the consult things seemed great, Jodie showed me pictures of colour, we discussed doing balayage, and she cut a small swatch of my hair and said she would see how it lightened up. I also showed her the picture of how I wanted my hair cut. I had high hopes. When the appt came, I was sat down and asked to fill out a sheet that asked how chatty I was feeling, how the health of my scalp was, and which two complimentary services I would like today. I thought that was pretty cool, and remember my previous stylist from this salon used to always give me hand massages and I loved them, so I choose hand massage and aroma therapy. I handed the sheet to Jodie and neither of those happened. Jodie seemed to have forgotten everything, but I didn't mind refreshing her memory, showing her the picture of how I wanted my hair cut, and that I wanted to go lighter. Then she also mentioned she lost my swatch of hair..which I thought was odd. But she said "it lightened up nicely". I was very clear I wanted my hair cut two inches below my chin, so it was just slightly above my shoulders, and she confirmed that with me. She then proceeded to do foils on my whole head- not balayage. She cut my hair to my chin, not two inches below, and my hair was uneven. I asked for it to be cut blunt, and one side was very obviously shorter than the other. When I compared the sides in front of her she said "that's how blunt cuts are" ummm what? They're uneven? She didn't offer to fix it. Also what I found very off putting, they asked all of their clients to fill out the "best of calgary" survey choosing red bloom in front of them. While my hair was processing I was also asked to do this. It seemed very high pressure, and I don't agree with it. I wanted to say no, but I also didn't want to look like a bitch in front of other people or have Jodie screw up my hair in spite so I felt I had to. When the customer is leaving the salon, why not ask them to vote on their own? Maybe offer $5 off the next service if they do the survey, if you're so desperate to get votes. Instead you bring them an iPad and hover over them to ensure they are choosing red bloom? Not impressed at all. read more

Not recommended anymore, used to be good way back when there was one owner who didn't take high pressure business courses and they actually concentrated on hair, not marketing. That co-owner is rude. Such a high turnover of stylists too.I won't speculate why... That co-owner interferes with the managers making their job more difficult. Why hire a manager if you are going to overshadow everything they do when you go in. The co- owner lives in another city & goes in occasionally so does not actually see much in person. The owner will comment if you go to 3 locations (I changed jobs so used 3 locations over a few years) & phone every stylist you have seen and gossip, so unprofessional and rude. Just find a place that is courteous and values you as a customer not as a $ and concentrates on hair! Everything is about money and how good their social media is, at this salon. who shoves a survey under your nose while doing your hair? of course you will check the box with their name when they are watching. I have been going to Red Bloom for about 5 years. Every time I go there, I just feel relaxed, refreshed and of course happy about my hair. I can't say enough how much I like the vibe and energy there. The stylist usually gives you a scalp massage after washing your hair. Had my hair massacred here in the fall. I had long waist-length hair that I wanted trimmed up and refreshed. I asked for the following: - no layers - no bangs - ability to braid after cut - cut jagged across bottom (not flat) - I don't style/blowdry so it needs to dry nicely naturally I got: - 5 different MAJOR layers - hair that wouldn't even fit in a ponytail - could not braid - flat ironed hair that seemed to blend but when dried I looked like David Lee Roth I called back a couple of days later to report what had happened.They were going to put me in with the SAME person who had killed my hair. *Need I mention that she was super arrogant about her abilities, and cut my hair with her nose up in the air the whole time, maybe that's why it was totally butchered*. I asked for a new person. I was placed with a senior hair dresser who didn't know what to say once she saw my hair. I started crying because I knew that at least 6 inches would have to come off. She acknowledged that she had no idea what the other person was attempting to go for with my cut. Great lady, on such a stressful day she really was a sweetheart. She did her best to fix my hair in September however, it is nearly March and I still cannot braid my hair. I am scared to let anyone touch it and I am harbouring so much ill will to this salon for making me feel ugly for months. To ice this "crap cake", it cost me $200+ dollars and HOURS of my life I'll never get back. I was never offered a refund or anything for my troubles. Disgusted. read more

I was referred here by my sister who has been coming to this location for a few years now. I'm pretty happy with my experience here! I was originally booked with Gord but RedBloom had to rebook because he wasn't feeling well so instead I was booked with Tim. I'm not a very chatty person when getting my hair cut, I just like to relax, so I was very appreciative that Tim respected that. Tim was great!! He explained what he was doing and anything he noticed about my hair and scalp and ways to improve their health. I have to say it was a very informative hair cut! My experience started out with a scalp massage, which moved on to a hair regeneration soak and then on to my cut! After, Tim explained a bit more about a hair product he thought would really improve my scalp health (which I happily purchased) and finished with a little makeup touch up. It was really nice and relaxing! I walked away with exactly the style and cut I had imagined and wanted! Ps. I'm 8 months pregnant, I'm not showing too obviously but when Tim found out he was really nice and made sure I was comfortable and didn't need anything. Thanks again Tim! read more

We all know it's hard to find a decent hairstylist in a decent salon. After having shopping around for a steady stylist (which included stylists at Eveline Charles, Hennessey and Edges), I trusted one for 3 years at Edges (Crowfoot location). As much as I have trusted and enjoyed my stylist at Edges, I didn't think the salon's service (esp the reception) was worth the drive (30min or more). I looked up a bunch of online reviews and decided to try out Red Bloom. I am happy to report: Red Bloom lives up to its online reviews. Red Bloom's Downtown location is modern, chic, friendly and offers a lot for your $ in comparison to the above-mentioned salons. The reception is warm, pretty and inviting (you are offered a beverage upon arrival). The styling area is open and well lit. I had an intermediate stylist (prices start at 45$ and up): She attentively listened to me and asked for feedback before cutting/ styling my hair. I was beyond pleased with my wash/ cut. My service ended with a complimentary make-up touch-up (powder, bronzer, lip gloss- all Aveda products). I was offered different Aveda hair products to try/ buy, but by no means did I feel pressured to buy. I have found my new salon close to my home. read more

I went here based on the yelp reviews and this place did not dissapoint! My appointment started with a consulation from my stylist. She listened to the direction that I wanted my hair style to go in and got totally excited about it! If she wasn't geniune I have no way of telling - she really made me feel like she understood what I was looking for and was totally on board with the plan! Overall I ended up with an amazing hair cut and excellent banter with an unpretentious stylist - I will be back. What an awesome, comfortable place! From the minute I walked in, everyone was so friendly. The receptionist was great, and SARAH! Wow! I sat in that chair and just trusted her, which is rare. I am going from dark back to blonde, and there 't a doubt in my mind that she'll be able to without damaging my hair! Our conversation was great, never forced or uncomfortable. I don't like small talk, but I felt like I was just hanging out with a friend and enjoying my night! Thanks red bloom and thanks Sarah! My concerns about Red Bloom are twofold: 1) how I felt treated as a customer 2) unacceptable quality of the service. About three years ago I decided to cut my long hair and let it grow back more naturally. Fast forward to August this year when Red Bloom 85th was recommended to me as an upscale salon that provided consultations, and 'red carpet service/and exceptional outcomes'. I decided to book in with an apprentice to save a bit of money and give the apprentice an opportunity as well. It felt less risky to try an apprentice as I done this once before years ago and I thought the service and outcome were actually better. She was lovely - but it did take 7 - yes 7 hours - to complete. Near the end of the service a more senior stylist told me due to the long time it took to do my hair - there wouldn't be time for a hair cut and I would have to come back. I was so shocked sat there for 7 hours - and I had a casted broken leg and I would have to come back??! I asserted myself and they agreed to cut my hair (after they went in the back and had a convo about it) and I was told - we can do this just this once but normally - you would be charged more as she was a higher level stylist that was available. I was also told at checkout - in front of others - that if I returned or rebooked with someone else, it would be money. I sat there for 7 hours to get a $30 saving? How insulting. I should have not rebooked then. The outcome of this hair style was good - service not so much. Second time - I saw a middle stylist - initially this was great - asking specifically what it was that I was hoping for short term/long term etc. I felt she got it - and decided to just leave the first experience behind. She explained it would be a two appointment process. Service good - I assumed hair style was in progress.. Third visit - same stylist - and when I sat in the chair - she asked me what the plan was for my hair? I was dumbfounded. I said, I thought we were pretty clear last time about the plan - she asked me again to tell her what it was that I wanted - and as I could not think of the exact wording of techniques etc., but I was feeling much like the first appointment - belittled and scolded. 'I thought this would be written down?' down I said - and she started asking me who put the purple color (I put in a washable) in my hair and didn't I know that it goes into the cuticle...and ....So after feeling scolded I redirected the conversation (as I was getting upset) - back to the plan - she says - do you want highlights again (to get rid of low lights). I said I don't know - that's your thing I thought - and I asked her opinion (thinking it was based on last time's consultation). Maybe she was having a bad day I thought - So she thought it's best to bleach the entire head to get it one colour - and then there would now be one more appointment needed. But we were so close she said. I agreed as I thought it would get us closer to my hair goal. That night when I went home, my hair started breaking off in the sink. I called the salon the next day but they weren't open. I received a call back the next business day from the stylist (very apologetic) - she made an appointment for me to come in and have a consultation to see how to fix my hair. The day of the appointment I received a call hours before the appointment that they 'will be able to give me better service' if I change the appointment until the next day. At this point, I decided to just cancel the appointment as I was so frustrated and it was evident that there wouldn't be a 'mask' that could fix this hair - falling out, flat, frizzy, breaking - I don't even think the color was a color - horrifying. I waited four days - mostly because I was so devastated at the lack of customer service, and at the appearance of my hair - I didn't want to be 9/10 upset when I spoke to the manager. So I CALLED THEM BACK - to ask what they could do for me. The manager allowed me to tell my story, and when I was finished they gave me the option of coming back to 85th or going to another location. I went to Bridgeland and saw an amazing stylist - she was wonderful. Reception was also wonderful and the manager came and introduced herself to me. Would I go back? I paid $253 for the hair damage at 85th - and what I received was complimentary hair cut (all hair had to be cut) and a protein treatment (not sure the value of these but I suspect not $253). I am not calling again to explain what good customer service is and 85th did not call me. That's red carpet treatment to me. The impact of this mistake is huge for me -starting over again with short hair - to once again get to where I want to be. 3 years of growing - gone. This is no upscale salon in my experience - either with customer service - and certainly not a place I would want to trust my hair with ever again. read more

I have been twice, first experience was a little better than the second. I had a senior stylist the first time, I only want senior or advanced, as i am very picky! Niki was my first stylist she was good, my second time she was not available for the time I needed so I asked for another senior stylist. None were available so I said never mind I will book another time, but then she said they had one avail, so I said great! I assumed this was a senior stylist. Niki Marie was very nice, and gave an excellent scalp massage, but the cut was average.she did not blend my layers as well as I think she should have. My hubby likes my hair, but I found out she was an Intermediate stylist, and I wish they would of told me sooner, but the price was reasonable, and she is very nice! read more

I have always had anxiety cutting my hair and never allowed anyone but my mom to cut it and for the first time I decided to go to a salon to get my hair cut. Friends of mine Rec. Redbloom and I went and saw Selena (I think Selena or Serena) I'm bad with names sorry! At the east village location. None the less she was amazing and made me feel Comfortable from start to finish. I am extremely happy with my experience with Katerina. I went to get highlights and a cut and I liked it. What really impressed me was that two days after my first appointment, I noticed that my layers weren't as short or angled as I would like - I'm not the most articulate person and I don't think I was clear as I what I wanted during my first visit. So, the next day, I called and asked if she could tweak it. Katerina was very understanding, patient and she spent considerable time tweaking my cut until it was perfect. I think Katerina's reaction really shows a lot of character and reflects Redbloom's customer service philosophy. The entire staff at Redbloom is incredibly customer-oriented. My bf has been a loyal customer for the past 5 years, and I can see why. I'm so glad he persuaded me to switch over. Review #7 of Yelp's 30 Day Challenge 2012 When I moved to Calgary a few months ago, one of my biggest worries is finding a stylist that will understand the issues I have with my hair. It also didn't help that I've had really good stylists in Minnesota and Manila so I've set my bar high for my search here. Enter Heather from Redbloom Salon. The thing I liked most about Heather is that she was very honest about what styles may or may not work for me. She looked at my hair and she immediately pointed problems I may have if she does this or that cut. These are styles I've had so much problems with before like side-swept bangs that don't really wanna be swept to the side or my hair being too big when it's cut short. Service in the salon itself is great as well. When I arrived I was directed to the couches in the waiting area and was offered refreshments. My stylist approached me right away and discussed what I wanted to do with my hair. The whole cut-style experience was great with a bonus of good conversation and some laughs. Heather got exactly the style I wanted and I was very happy with how my hair looked. She gave very simple instructions I can do at home to achieve the same style she did. I wanted to cut 9 inches off my hair. I'm new to Calgary, didn't know any stylists, so I was really nervous. I decided to go with an Advanced Stylist at RedBloom and they put me in with Rebecca for an appointment 3 days later. Rebecca was super nice and attentive to everything I said. We thoroughly discussed what I wanted and she gave her suggestions. She didn't start on my hair until we had reached a clear consensus, which made me feel really comfortable. She did an amazing job. Just like I wanted it!!! I am super happy and got hundreds of compliments on my hair. She noticed things about my hair that I had never noticed, and gave me tips about how to style my hair as she noticed those them while styling it. e.g., my hair has a weird natural wave on one side, so I have to ensure I style that side well, and she taught me how. Some stylists make you feel guilty about how dry your hair is, or the products you use. Rebecca didn't. She was really nice and laid back. She wasn't super chatty; we mainly talked about my hair. I know some people LOVE chatty stylists, but I hate small talk. So Rebecca was perfect in that aspect. Open to conversation but didn't force it. The one thing that made me feel a bit uncomfortable is that she met me at the front desk at the end to schedule my next appointment. I told her I was "good for now", and it was a bit awkward. Then another girl rang me up. I would rather not have that, but it's their way of ensuring we come back and again to see them. read more

It was simple and clear. I wanted thin grey highlights. I got one chunky white highlight in the front and some white in the back. As a kid I was severely traumatized by my cousin getting a brush caught in my hair and than chopping it off, but not after putting Vaseline, butter and shampoo in my hair to "attempt loosening the brush- with a failed attempt". Since then I avoid Hair salons until my ends are fried, and all I can do it place my hair in a ponytail (we've all been there). Any who I was sceptical about letting a stranger cut my hair and colour it. Saturday I had an appointment with MARY who is very approachable, friendly and most importantly listens to what I want and don't like about my hair. So first she coloured it red 2 shades. And then offered a hand massage in-between. She even went out of her way to find cotton balls for my ears (which are sensitive) and was very gentle when cleaning my hair and giving me a head massage, I was very comfortable in the dark and serene décor. She talked me through the entire process. And because I'm painfully shy she offered me PEOPLE magazine to read while styling my hair. It's like she knew I wasn't a very talkative person. Plus I'm a low speaker- my voice can barely raise over hair blow dryers and the radio. The outcome was phenomenal. I received plenty of compliments from the staff (however I get the impression that's part of the job entitlement). The cost was $189. I was prepared to pay a large amount, I base salons on price- You get what you pay for. The more expensive the better the quality. I gave her a nice tip. And base on my first experience I will return. read more

So after many months of growing out my hair (again), I decided to treat myself to a salon experience in getting a real haircut. At one point I was going to Angles, however my hairdresser could not deliver in giving me the desired style. In the end I went back to cutting my own hair since I had to fix it anyways if I got it done at Angles. After a vicious search on yelp and other review websites, I decided to try out Redbloom due to its stellar reviews. I'm definitely glad I did as I had a fantastic experience...and hairdo to go with that! I scheduled an appointment over the phone where my hair stylist was Gordon. Upon the day of the appointment, I stepped into a neo-vintage but hip salon where I was warmly greeted by the receptionist and promptly seated into Gordon's chair. As I mentioned before, I had many stylists not be able to deliver in giving me that desired style I wanted, which is choppy, edgy, and messy haircut because they blend the layers which annoys to me to no end of the world. For this very appointment, I armed myself with a little speech and pictures on my phone to show exactly what I wanted. I probably put pressure on Gordon in being very specific, but all the while he listened patiently to my little speel of a rant and promised that he would give me that wanted haircut. After appraising my hair, Gordon gave me feedback on what he was going to do while making sure I was game for the same thing. During the duration of my appointment, Gordon made my first experience at Redbloom a great one. Apart from making great conversation, Gordon was very knowledgeable where he would show me during the process of what he was doing, as well as giving me a few tips and tricks on how to style my hair. At first I thought he did not achieve the look I wanted until I got home to wash and restyle it did I see the look he created. My hair had layers that were (gasp!!!) edgy, choppy, messy, un-blended, and totally completely awesome...a look that I felt I could rock in. Not to mention the fact that my haircut cost $30 dollars - I got a $10 discount because it was my first time there where I felt my money was definitely worth spent. Because of such a great experience at Redbloom I definitely would not hesitate in returning and have Gordon cut my hair again. Even though he is titled as a student stylist (which some people take as a red-flag for inexperience) I would definitely recommend him to anyone as he treats his customers well and is quite knowledgeable with hair. Plus he charges less so you save money! Overall, I give 5 stars to Redbloom and recommend it to other reviews for awesome customer service and having awesome hairstylists, reasonable pricing compared to other places....oh and not being a snooty downtown salon! read more

I had been going to Jeromes for the last couple of years, but after hearing so many good things, i thought i would give Red Bloom a try. I was not at all disappointed! I was greeted warmly, and treated kindly by all the staff (which i can't say is consistent with my patronage at Jerome's). My stylist had a thorough conversation about what I was looking to achieve and still kept me in check with what was possible and what wasn't, given my hair texture,colour, etc. (I was there to get ombre highlights, and a haircut). She went through all the steps with me, explaining every detail, while being friendly and attentive. She also gave me tips on all the different ways to curl my hair, and the kind of products to use, without pushing me to buy any. I was very satisfied with the results, and I believe that this will be the salon I will be recommending to all my friends and returning for all my hair needs! read more

After reading all the great reviews on Yelp, I'm SO glad I went here! I requested an appointment with an advanced stylist and I was given Rebecca, who I was going to ask for anyway after looking over my options on the website. SHE WAS AMAZING!! She was very warm and kind, and totally understood what I was looking for! I honestly cannot wait to go back and see her again. I was given a scalp massage, she washed my hair, cut it a little, dried my hair, and finished cutting. She then finished by curling my hair beautifully after she asked if she could. My hair looked stunning afterwards and I could not say enough about how much I currently love it. She used Aveda hair products on me and described them to me but did not push me to buy them, which I appreciated. All in all, I truly can't wait to go back again. :) read more

I have been going to Redbloom for a year at least now (maybe two? not sure, how time flies!) My stylist is Sara and she does an amazing job everytime, and we do switch up my style / color quite often. For my partial highlights & partial color plus a cut it usually comes to about $170-ish, depending on what we decide to do on that occasion. I get compliments on my hair all the time and -I- love it, so I consider the cost well worth it. I have had a number of horrific hair experiences, especially when it comes to my bangs (people with bangs, you know what I am talking about.) but I have felt very comfortable with Sara from the beginning. I'm no hair wizard, but my cut always accomodates looking good with just a blow-dry and a quick straightening with no mandatory additional styling. The staff at Redbloom are always friendly, they take your coat when you arrive, and even bring you coffee / tea / water if desired. I have not experienced any push to purchase Aveda products - they do ask you at the end if you would like anything - but I have found this more useful than anything as I have picked up a number of items that have really helped the look and health of my hair where drugstore items just weren't working out for me. Anyways - my opinion is that this is an amazing place to go! Free bangs trim, excellent cut and color, and for me, always a great experience. Check it out! read more

I just went back to Red Bloom about a three weeks ago to get my hair cut and colored. I had called in only five days prior and they squeezed me in again. The girl who did my hair was awesome, and I really liked the outcome. I can't remember her name ( I will find out), I have received many compliments on my hair color and I can't wait to go back again in another couple months or so for summer . I have never had a bad experience at Red Bloom. The only reason for 4/5 stars is because it is really pricey! But it's okay to splurge when you are getting great quality and service :) read more

Not being from Canada I was not sure what to expect from a Canadian salon. What a wonderful experience. Shara was very professional the salon clean. The receptionist knew exactly who to hook me up with when I explained thin course old lady hair. I took pictures to help explain what I wanted. Shara was happy for that so there wasn't a communication issue. She knew the techniques to achieve my desired cut. I am a full time RVer so I wanted easy low maintenance with style. I think we got it. She rinsed my hair after the cut & even refreshed my make up with Ayurveda products. Nice. read more

The first time I went to red bloom was great.. Good service and I liked it!!... But the last 3 times it has been a disaster!!.. I can accept one mistake or two.. But 3 bad hair cuts is too much!!! The first time I was unhappy was with the same stylist of the first time... She messed it up with my hair and my haircut after a couple weeks was horrible!! ... The second time I picked a guy and it was worst than the last time!! ... That is probably the worst hair cut I have ever had... ( and my hair is very straight and easy ).... The last time I went I chose the master stylist... The person with the most experience, so she can fix the disaster I had... And my hair still looks terrible!!... I have been three times, and the salon itself is clean, and funky, the people very friendly, and the products high end, but considering the price of the services, I have decided to go elsewhere from now on. I believe that they have raised their prices as of this summer as well. I have my hair cut in an angled bob, which I find some stylists cut extremely well, and others.... not so much. After my first appointment at Redbloom, my family commented that the cut didn't look so good, but the color was beautiful. I figured I'd give it another go. My second time at Redbloom my stylist ran out of time on the cut and left me with a sub-par cut that wasn't really what I wanted. I understand that this can happen sometimes, and she did offer for me to come back at another time for her to fix it. I returned the next week and she did fix it, and once again, the color was fantastic but the cut was.... good. Over all, this salon is pretty good.... they give you hand massages, fancy coffee and the decor is pretty to look at, but I want to go to a salon and get a kick-a** hair cut, the other stuff doesn't matter. I don't mind paying the big bucks to be happy with my hair, but I refuse to do that if I feel that I am not getting the absolute best. read more

Update 2: I really can't say enough good things about RB, from the moment you walk in the door you feel taken care of. My hairstylist now is Gordon and I have yet to come away unsatisfied with a cut...he's amazing. I'm very particular (some would say a pain in the ass) when it comes to my hair but Gordon always takes the time to listen to concerns and makes the necessary changes so my hair does what I want it too. He's also up on all the latest hair colouring techniques like painting which looks so cool and natural. I honestly could write paragraphs about how great he and RB is/are but I want to be able to get an appointment with him in the foreseeable future so I'm not going to tell you exactly how awesome he is...you'll just have to go and discover yourself. Update: I've been to RedBloom three times now and each time been very satisfied with my cut. My hair is now much more manageable and I can honestly say I haven't had a bad hair day in 3 months. Best Salon EVAR!! :) I too like a number of other reviewers was in search of a steady stylist. Have been to nine Salon's in the last 3 years...yes nine and none of them got my haircut quite right. Am I picky about my haircuts, absolutely, I've had enough haircuts that look good the day of the cut only to have them turn into a haystack the next day, to last me a lifetime. I just had mine done at another salon and ended up with half red, half gold hairdo. Now that might not sound bad except the left side was red and the right side was gold!! This was just before I went to my citizenship ceremony, again not such a big deal except this ceremony was being televised!! Well that was the last straw I started googling hairsalons and checking reviews and found RedBloom in my search. I called and got an appointment with Heather. She made me feel at ease straight away by actually listening to what I wanted. Not only listening but giving me ideas on how to make the style I wanted better. I'm sorry you really can't get ANY better than that. Heather managed to though as the cut, well all I can say is 'wow'. My hair looks amazing,is so easy to manage and the colour I love it, natural and fresh. I've had so many compliments (that's how we know we have found 'the" salon...the complimetre :)) I love this salon and was so happy with my cut I booked my next two appointments before I left. I'd been at my old salon for about five years, and for the past two I'd been feeling dissatisfied. I felt that my stylist had no vision for my hair's future- she couldn't envision how the cut and colour would look a few weeks down the road AND she didn't seem to have a plan for maintaining the look at future visits. I tried my best to vocalize my concerns, but I also hoped that my hairstylist- the hair PROFESSIONAL- would have some expert knowledge and opinions to share. She didn't. On a whim I decided to try a new salon- Red Bloom. I booked an appointment with one of their most experienced stylists- Heather- and showed up for my first appointment. I told her that I wasn't happy with my hair colour, and that I needed something that could be maintained long-term while still looking healthy and fresh. She agreed that my current highlights were looking dull and washing me out, and suggested that I revert to an all-over color close to my natural shade. That was a look I hadn't had in more than five years! She then discussed what we could do over the next few months to keep it looking fresh, and how we could make it more "summery" come next summer. I was so happy to hear that she was thinking ahead AND that she actually had ideas and opinions, instead of expecting me to tell her what I wanted (I mean, do you tell your doctor what to heal, or your mechanic what to repair?). I get compliments almost every day on how fresh and healthy my hair looks. The texture feels great- partly due to the colour change and partly, I think, due to the Aveda dye. She also gave my hair a quick cut, and she explained that while my old cut was good, it had some fundamental problems with the shape. By trimming a bit here and there she transformed the shape of my hair. For the past ten years I don't think I've ever worn my long hair down without straightening or curling it (except maybe at the beach!), but with my new cut I feel totally comfortable giving it a quick blow-dry and wearing it as-is, because it works so well with my natural texture. I'm saving so much time in the mornings now! I can't recommend Heather at Red Bloom enough (ummm... but please don't actually go there, as I hate battling it out for an appointment!). This salon has the best customer service I've received in quite a while. I was offered a drink as soonas I walked in, and was seated to wait for my stylist. The salon is modern, simple and doesn't have an over powering chemical smell like some can. They have a great selection of magazines, and not just hair ones for your wait. My stylist kassandra was SO great. She was chatty, funny, and listened to what I said. She asked me why i chose her, and i told her because the website said she specializes in long hair. This to me is important, since i know a lot of stylists do not like doing long hair (she agreed) she promised me that if I wanted to get my hair to a certain length she would help me achive that, and what would be necessary to do so. She touched up my makeup when i left, and made sure i was happy with my cut, which was nice. The receptionist I encountered while paying was also super friendly and I already made my next appointment (which I never do in the salon). Very happy with this place. It has been quite a long time since I have had a haircut, so I had done some research looking for a great salon for a new experience and I found this one. Great reviews and happy clients, so I thought why not? The atmosphere was nice and the staff were very welcoming, when it came down to the cut, I was very unimpressed. The stylist said he would be taking off 3 inches (it was more like 5), he would be giving me a few layers and be taking out the bulk in the back because I have extremely thick hair. When he was finished styling it, it looked decent; I was not a fan of the part but I thought maybe when I got home I could fix it and see what it looked like. When I got out of the salon, I finally got to run my fingers through my hair and look at the back (the stylist never showed me). My hair was all one length and was just as thick as it was when I walked in; totally not a functional cut for someone with such heavy hair. When it got to the bangs, nothing was really done to them and they were just as long as before and very unflattering to my face. Needless to say, this is the worst cut I have ever had and will not be visiting this salon again. read more

Ive been a regular client at RedBloom for several years now and have had nothing but the best treatment from my stylist Troy and the staff. i always get a pleasant hello from all staff anytime i'm there and Troy always keeps up with the latest trends to keep me on top of newest styles. I went to Red Bloom with high expectations, as I had read so many good reviews. I didn't mind paying more than usual for my hair specifically because it will be celebrating my upcoming birthday, and really wanted it to be just what I had in mind. I was greeted very warmly and the customer service was excellent. My hair dresser was very nice, but also extremely un-talkative which made for some awkward moments. I had showed a picture of what I wanted - which was a dirty blonde to light blonde ombré. I am still undecided on wether I or not I am satisfied with the hair I left with - a dark/ orangey brown to blonde. It is not what I asked for, which is very disappointing. I don't think I will be making any future hair appointments with Red Bloom. read more
