I usually don't care for the way most doctors treat patients but Allara and Yoon are exceptional, they actually treat patients as patients not numbers. My wife and I have had horrible experiences with medical professionals but never have we had one complaint with Allara and Yoon. These guys understand that all patients are not the same. They understand that what is normal for one patient is not necessarily normal for another. They actually put some thought into your problems instead of just running down a check list. At one time I thought proper medical treatment was no existent North of Boston but after 25+ years of dealing with MFM Health I know that good health care can be found.

I feel compelled to write this review and warn the community after just completing an extremely…read morebizarre and unprofessional job interview process. I want to preface my review by explicitly stating that I fully understand MFM's mission of bringing accessible and coordinated care to the local setting. However, it appears as though MFM is expanding very rapidly and their operations cannot keep pace, which has downstream effects on both care quality and observable culture, which they are apparently trying to resolve through hiring instead of addressing the root causes of these issues. I applied for two positions at MFM Health. I will keep identifying details confidential to protect the privacy of those involved. For the first position I applied to, I was contacted by the hiring manager via a "Do Not Reply" email. She provided a phone number and asked me to call to set up an interview. I was unsure why the interview arrangements could not be worked out over email, but I nevertheless called the number only to find out that it was not a direct line. I called this number several times and was never able to reach the hiring manager despite a valiant attempt. Many negative reviews of this practice state it is difficult to contact staff by phone, I would say this assessment is accurate. When I was contacted about the second position, I was excited to find out that it was in a specialty department that I had several years of experience in on top of my 10+ years of relevant experience. One of the things I immediately noticed was that staff availability for interviews was limited, and, for the most part, they told you when you would be coming in. I understand that healthcare and volume are synonymous these days, but some flexibility would have been appreciated to allow me to prepare adequately. The screening interview was uneventful, but things became a bit strange during the in-person interview. As such, the supervising physician bluntly told me they are "very burned out" and cannot handle their patient load yet "they keep sending me more." I asked if any continuing education opportunities are offered and I was told no. This concerns me as organizations that do not invest in the growth and development of their staff typically experience high turnover and low morale. Despite these oddities, the hiring manager assured me that the team in fact, was impressed by my background and did appear to like me. However, the next day, I was abruptly informed that I would have to do another interview and was given only a day to prepare. Given that the staff had endorsed such strong feelings of burnout during the previous interview, I decided a morale boost may be appropriate. I purchased some healthy snacks and cold beverages and brought them to the second interview. I also included two handwritten and personalized thank-you cards for the clinical team. On the day of this next interview, I arrived with my snacks and drinks in tow. I was shown to the conference room where I set everything up. I was informed that the hiring manager would not be present for the meeting as the interview was scheduled last minute in the middle of their workday. Here is the crux of my review: I met with two stone-faced support staff members who made no attempts to reciprocate my efforts to engage with them. One staffer was engrossed in his laptop and barely participated. The other staffer asked me a handful of inappropriate questions with largely subjective answers that depended on training. After about ten minutes of awkward questioning, I was dismissed, without any expression of thanks for the snacks/drinks, which were left unopened and untouched on the table. There was no follow-up from the hiring manager. After the interview, I reached out to the hiring team to share some additional information about my background that we did not have time to cover in the interviews. I did not receive a response. Two days later, I received a rejection letter stating I was "not a strong enough candidate," despite having co-authored a paper in the field.

When I have to "project manage" their staff as one of my projects as part of my day job, taking valuable time out of my business day (for which costs my company money) to have to keep calling every day and making sure their staff performs the most basic of tasks (like actually providing via email and fax ALL of my medical records and related doctor visit notes to an insurance provider (because the insurance provider had provided proof they received nothing from their office)), that is inexcusable. When I have to drive to their office to make sure something which should have been done, and their assistant who felt is "annoyed" that I am interrupting her busy day and talks to me as if I am a nuisance, yeah you can bet I am going to be pissed off. The front office staff are incompetent at best and lazy, unsupportive at worst. Their only value add is scheduling. And also FYI, they look as far from professional as staff can get, with exposed tattoos and nose and lip rings.

So, expect to wait a long time to get a visit, and to waste even more time in the waiting room. I was *still* OK will waiting, as the service was good. Then, I suffered a disabling accident, and things changed. Dr. Golden did not make time to see me anymore, and I was forced to see a "nurse practitioner, who had NO knowledge of my severe injuries and no bedside manner to treat me with the kindness and patience chronic pain requires. She once greeted me with "What's wrong NOW, Lynn?!" I was hospitalized for 2 weeks at MGH, released w/ condition that I see Dr. Golden that week...BUT HE REFUSED, claiming he'd just seen me a month ago & it was unnecessary. Other Yelp reviewers claim Dr. Golden does not spend any time with his patients & all sick visits are with nurse practitioner. THE DEAL: If you have any serious condition, illness or injury, I don't think this is the best Primary Care Doctor choice. He appears to prefer treating colds, flu and mild injuries.

And this was minutes before she did it. And acknowledged she heard me. Same doctor misdiagnosed congestive failure. When I went in in June and complained about severe and painful edema with legs and groin swollen at least 3-4 times normal size, she said she didn't see a problem. In September when I told her I couldn't lay down without feeling like I was drowning, so I had serious trouble sleeping, she told me I should lay and my back. No exam, no questions. Less than two weeks later I couldn't walk ten feet without serious breathing problems. Admitted to two different hospitals in October. Feel much better now. Specialist she referred me to is upset my test results are too high. Yet she won't prescribe my meds to normalize them. First time, and only time, I see her she asks if I need any refills. I tell her yes, which ones, and even the dosages and confirmed which pharmacy ; she said okay which to me meant she would take care of it. Pharmacy never heard from her. Furious doesn't even begin to describe how much it bothered me. When I finally calmed down enough to call her, she called in one med but not the other - the one for which my tests were out of whack and I was symptomatic. Never again. I shouldn't have to supervise my doctors like this.

Many times in the past when visiting an urgent care for standard tests, all that was due was my copay. I was shocked to receive a bill for $950, for "Laboratory charges" at "Winchester Hospital. My health insurance was billed $2500 for my urgent care visit, with totally routine tests! At no point did anyone at Lahey Urgent care warn me that they would be billing the test via Winchester Hospital and that they would be billed as a hospital visit, and that a COVID TEST WOULD COST $1,600 (amount billed to my Aetna). Absolutely outrageous. Upon calling their billing dept, they adamently insist the bill is not a mistake and I'm expected to pay. I've opened a complaint with the state AG's office.
