In the most polite and professional way I can put it my experience being a patient here was…read morecompletely horrendous. I live two hours away and I've chosen here despite the commute because there is no medical center near me that gives the treatment I need so I am, for lack of a better term, downright desperate. After having a prescription given to me almost a year ago, I have been calling for MONTHS to get it authorized by the doctor I saw and nothing productive has happened. Nothing. I've been hung up on twice before, I've been bounced between two offices multiple times to try and reschedule an appointment, I have stated the urgency of how I need what I am there for and still nothing has been done. My experience here has been disgustingly bad and I would urge anyone who is looking for this as a possibility to try other options because it is abhorrent how hard it is to get anything accomplished here. And this isn't even coming from just a solely outside view, I am in the medical field myself. I am extremely disappointed.

My doctor was great. No complaints there…read more My co-payment was $30. I paid it with a credit card (I tried to give them cash, but they don't accept it). Days later I had remembered I had a Health Savings Account debit card. I decided to call Billing, have them refund the $30 on my credit card and charge the HSA debit instead. The transaction seemed easy. Come to find out, they never refunded the $30 on my credit card, and instead of withdrawing $30 on my debit card, they withdrew $200. I've been calling and using the portal for two weeks - simply requesting Billing to call me. The folks on the portal said Billing would call, but they haven't. Two weeks of silence. My only recourse was to file a report with the Beverly Police Dept. They'll follow up with the NSPG or the Salem Court will. An abysmal experience. If anyone has Scott Sperling (Mass General Brigham, Chair) and/or Anne Klibanski (Mass General Brigham, CEO) contact info....please share it. I want them to know my experience.

I believe they are all affiliated with Beverly Hospital and that network. They always call to remind me of my scheduled appointments the day before they occur, in case you need to reschedule, the staff is very quick at responding when you call with a question or need to get a referral or documents sent to a specialist, and they dont leave you waiting around forever. Scheduling physicals are a little annoying, as you cant get one immediately, the appointments are usually a few weeks to a month from when you call (unless you schedule one for a year from the day you come in for one. Although, if you are sick, they will see you immediately - the same day, unless you call late in the afternoon, then they will have you come in the next morning. My doctor is very good about checking in with me about my health, progress in weight loss, nutrition, or other concerns, and when i had my pap done, letting me know about various womens health solutions available (birth control etc). I recently had a medical emergency and the office consistently called me to make sure i was ok, and to follow up on appointments with specialists to see their diagnosis. It was not cumbersome or confusing since the staff always gave me referrals to doctors who accepted my health insurance and were local. I've seen patients of all ages here. If you need a new primary care physician who looks out for you and is great at giving you important health info (not simplistic, condescending statements), Family Medicine is a great office to go to.

Unfortunately he is no longer at the practice and in recent years this practice has gone downhill. It is now a place I consider downright dangerous to my children and family, and we will never go there again. About a year ago our baby tumbled off the bed. I took her to be seen right away. The appointment was with a new doctor at the practice, Dr. Moak-Blest. She seemed more concerned about some "missed" (never scheduled) well-child visits than about the baby's clavicle I was asking about. We had intentionally skipped a couple of well-child visits during flu season to avoid unnecessary encounters with germs. Regarding the clavicle, we were referred for x-rays which we went to get taken immediately. That same evening a lovely nurse called from the office with the results of the x-rays: a fractured clavicle. She assured me it was a common injury and went over home care with me. Later that same week I took our oldest daughter to the practice for an appointment with a wonderful NP there to have her lungs checked as she'd had pneumonia before, and had begun complaining of pain when breathing deeply. At the appointment, I was in the practice with all three of my daughters. At this time it's important to note that no one in the practice mentioned any concerns, or any attempts having been made to reach me. But the next evening I received a call from the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families alleging child neglect and scheduling a home visit to begin a full investigation of us. Honestly, I think that pretty much says it all. This is a family practice we were at for almost six years, where I thought my children and I were all known well and seeing doctors I thought we could trust. A new vigilante doctor waltzes into the scene and after spending ten minutes with us, immediately reports me -- not for abuse based on the injury but for general 'medical neglect' of my children -- setting in motion a stressful and harrowing (to put it mildly) investigation that wreaked havoc on my family's life. No one from the practice called me to find out how the baby was doing to to express any concern. I was even IN the practice for another appointment that week and no one said a word. I still find it all unreal that it could have happened like that. Perhaps most alarmingly, we learned that Dr. Moak-Blest had asked an NP at the practice who had seen my family often if she should be concerned about our family, and the NP replied that there was no reason for concern whatsoever. It is alarming that a doctor new to a practice would take the measure of reporting a family of long-time patients for abuse or neglect in direct opposition to the council of her more knowledgable colleague. The accusations the doctor reported to DCF were all patently and (fortunately for us) provably false. Throughout the duration of the ordeal we were acting according to the nurse's recommendations to the letter, doing everything she had told me to do. Everything we learned at subsequent follow-up pediatric ortho appointments corroborated what the nurse had told us. Nothing I was told corroborated that doctor's claims to DCF. There was no concern expressed whatsoever about Molly's injury or about her home care. In fact, the orthopedist we saw told me in conversation that "Anyone who would report you for this injury or your care must not know anything about ortho. Or must just be uninformed." So, the report she filed to DCF was in direct opposition not only to the knowledgeable opinion of her colleague but also to the facts of the medical situation. Fortunately, the investigation concluded the doctor's claim was "unsupported" and we were in the clear. Unfortunately, the effects on myself and my family were longer lasting. I spent many months battling anxiety and insomnia in the aftermath, and my children became fearful of doctors. Following the experience, I attempted at least a half dozen times over several months to speak with someone -- anyone! -- in authority at Lahey Hamilton Wenham. I wanted closure and resolution and to ensure this didn't happen to any other families at the practice. I wanted to tell my side of the story and find out what had gone wrong and how it all happened. I could not get anyone from the practice to call me back or set up the meeting I desired or even give me the time of day. As we tried to make sense of it, we could only conclude that either Dr. Moak-Blest is an unqualified doctor, having made hysterical claims to DCF in direct contradiction to the opinions of every other medical professional, or that she targeted us based on other factors she may have seen in my children's medical files, such as the choice to "skip" a well-child visit. And in the end, either conclusion makes this practice unsuitable.
