I am writing to report what I believe to be deceptive and predatory billing practices by Lahey Urgent Care, including unauthorized charges, lack of pricing transparency, and surprise billing that were neither communicated in advance nor consented to. I visted in late April because I was feeling sick. I have full health insurance, and paid my $85 copay. I was tested for Strep and Covid. Many times in the past when visiting an urgent care for standard tests, all that was due was my copay. I was shocked to receive a bill for $950, for "Laboratory charges" at "Winchester Hospital. My health insurance was billed $2500 for my urgent care visit, with totally routine tests! At no point did anyone at Lahey Urgent care warn me that they would be billing the test via Winchester Hospital and that they would be billed as a hospital visit, and that a COVID TEST WOULD COST $1,600 (amount billed to my Aetna). Absolutely outrageous. Upon calling their billing dept, they adamently insist the bill is not a mistake and I'm expected to pay. I've opened a complaint with the state AG's office. Was given meds, didn't work. Called back after 2 days looking for an antibiotic to help with the problem. Chest x ray was normal. The antibiotics were recommended by the NP but He wanted to wait to see if the other meds would work first. It didn't work. Sunday morning I called them and guess what?? They want you to be seen again. What else would they do?? Nothing but collect $$$ another visit. Just money making machine. Never going here again! Done with NP. read more

I have been here a few times. The previous experiences weren't so bad, but after my most recent experience I have to downgrade my rating. I went for a minor medical issue. My partner and I were greeted by an unwelcoming receptionist who checked us in and asked us to be seated in the waiting room which was empty. After a short wait, we went into the room where we encountered NP, Caroline M. O'Connell. Caroline's behavior made the receptionist seem friendly. Caroline was cold, rude and not empathetic whatsoever to my situation. After spending less than 5 minutes with us she agreed to write a prescription. I was scheduled to travel that same morning on a long road trip so I asked for a written prescription thinking that I could get it at our destination that evening. Caroline appeared to be suspicious of my request as if I was obtaining a controlled substance and flat out refused to provide a written prescription. She insisted that she needed to send the prescription digitally to a local pharmacy even after I explained my travel situation. It took me a moment to determine where to have her send the prescription. The urgent care was not near my home pharmacy and I was planning to start the drive from the urgent care. Caroline was visibly annoyed while my partner and I discussed where we could send the prescription. She stated that I could change the location if I needed to. Minutes after Caroline left the room my partner and I discussed the pharmacy location and decided it would be better to send to a different location which was on the way based on our drive. We saw her as we walked out from the room and went to her desk to communicate the change. She barely looked up at me when I made the request but agreed to send the prescription to the alternative location. But she did not make the change. When I arrived at that location later that day, there was no prescription. She had ignored my request. I like the location. I like Lahey. But I would highly recommend not going to this location. As I said earlier, I have had other negative experiences at this location but this is the third strike. When one is ill, the last thing we need to is to have to deal with rude, unwelcome personalities. read more

If I could give a 0 I would!! I have gone here numerous times and always seem like I'm bothering them. I brought my son as he hurt his foot skiing and it didnt seem too bad that I needed to go to the ER, I got there, paid Co-pay went into a room and when the Dr came in first words were I called you to tell you to go to the ER we close at 4 the Appointment was at 2:30 so not sure why I needed to go to the ER whne you are open until 4. She seemed annoyed that I said I never recieved her call and well now we are here. She did X-rays on his foot then proceeded to make me feel like a bad mother for not taking him in sooner. She looked over the X-Rays but again she"s not a radiologist so really has no right telling me without confirming with them but said she couldnt get in touch with them but it looked like a really bad fracture could possibly need surgery. She then again made me feel like a bad parent stating again I should have brought him in earlier. Since they were closing at 4 it is now 3:45 and she couldn't confirm with the radiologist she said we needed to go to the ER. She gave us crutches, and air cast. We go to the ER same network and now pay an ER visit just to hacve the radiologist look at it and state nothing is wrong with his foot it is just bruised. So now I paid $65 co -pay here, $350 ER and keep getting bills $471, cast and cruthes $250, due to her not wanting to do her job or better yet not knowing what was wrong and sending me on my way!!! Made an appointment and registered online for my ill 76 year-old husband. When we arrived at Lahey Urgent Care in Lynnfield, the receptionist asked for my husband's ID. I said he didn't bring his wallet. She pointed to a small sign at the reception desk which said identification is required and insisted he couldn't be seen without it. I said that requirement wasn't mentioned on their website when I registered. I been to many other urgent care and ER facilities and I have never been asked for any form of ID. So I had to drive back home and leave my husband with a fever of 102 and heaving in their waiting room. On the trip back I received a call from a staff member who said my husband needed to go to the ER. Other than handing him a barf bag they never triaged him nevermind examine him. He never left the waiting area. They just wanted to turf him off to ER and out of their orbit. This is not the place to go for care. Care maybe part of their name but it isn't something they offer. This place sucks for Primary Care, if you're a male. I went on my wife's recommendation. Two visits, Dr and NP. Neither listened to a thing I said, insisted on unnecessary tests AFTER my specialist said they weren't needed, and changed a prescription AFTER I told them I had just re-filled it and had it transferred to another pharmacy. This screwed up my refill schedule for the next several months. Couple in a questionnaire about my HOUSING situation upon initial intake and I am done with them. But, the NP had her pronouns on her ID. So you can take comfort in that. If you want woke feminists, this is the place for you. Personally, I'm looking for a Doctor who is preferably a Combat Veteran, smokes during the exam and keeps a bottle of bourbon in his desk. read more

It's sad, disappointing and utterly disgusting how most of the patients treat the staff here. No wonder they're calloused and on edge. They've been trying to manage and overloaded system the entire pandemic and get spit on by the public for systemic challenges that are not within their control. The patients that I've watched are entitled, racist, condescending and traumatizing. I watched a patient make 3 staff cry and they still did what they could to make sure she and her son had what they needed. These people work their asses off and have been physically assaulted because their Botox is too expensive... the staff works so hard to communicate through the chart yet patients refuse to check their chart messages and verbally abuse staff regardless. The behavior of the patients in this area is horrendous. You all should be ashamed of yourselves and think of how entitled you've been acting. Think about the systemic challenges and changes the staff has had to balances -- that's not within their control-- the patients have shown that they cannot and will not recognize their own entitlement, racism and nastiness in a cognizant manner. If I could give zero stars I would. I was charged $10 co-pay sat there for an hour and a half. Finally a 4 foot five woman came out from the hallway and said hey I'd like to speak to you for a minute step in to my office laughing. Ask me several questions of why I was there. I tried to explain to her my situation. she kept interrupting me saying well I'm not a prescriber I said OK because I was talking to her about some medication that I take that might be causing the issue that I have. When I mention my daughter from Lahey hospital she said I am not familiar with them or anyone there so don't bother telling me about it. Rude, un-professional, and didn't seem to be too concerned about what actually was going on with my physical body. And told me that they couldn't help me there because they didn't have the facilities to help me with the problem that I came in with. Never saw a doctor was told that I should go to the ER. When my primary healthcare provider from Lehi hospital told me to go to this facility. I don't know who she was I should've got her name but it was horrible absolutely horrible and made me feel as though I was discriminated against because I was a man. don't bother wasting your time going to this place it's the second time I've been there and had bad results. I'm disgusted and I am very disappointed that these are healthcare professionals. So I finally made an appointment with my healthcare provider but they wouldn't be able to see me until later on that week. So now I'm still wondering what's going on with me which is causing anxiety and a little bit nervous about what's happening to my body. Never never never again shall I go to this place. I only wish I could write something like this to the actual facility or talk to somebody there but I know I'd be brushed off they all protect themselves I get it. But this person was extremely rude and again not a doctor. One more thing she also lied to me clearly in the video that they show on this site of theirs says that they have ultrasound and also x-ray capabilities she told me they didn't have any of those at this site. I've had two excellent outcomes at this urgent care facility over the past four months. In the first case I was treated for a serious back problem and in the other a painful arm infection. In both cases the service was quick, the diagnosis accurate and the prescription regimen effective. read more

This place is a little out of the way for me, considering I have 3 urgent care centers within a 1 mi radius of my house. I prefer this location. They have a good appointment system and are generally punctual. The staff is pleasant. I don't understand the bad reviews on here. This is an urgent care center, it is not an ER, and it is not a mental care facility. They deal with urgent, non-life threatening injuries or illnesses. I come here bc my doctors office is usually so overbooked that I would have to wait several days for an appointment with my primary care vs coming here and being seen the same day. read more

We have always had good luck here with the doctors and nurses. Front staff is lacking. Depending on which day you call you are told: "we are a walk in clinic", " no appointment needed", or "we only make appointments online". Other times I call desk is so nice and quickly make the appointment. Lahey get your front desk to smile, be polite, and guide them to your policies. People usually call when they are at their worse. No need to make their experience difficult. Once you get through the gate keepers I would recommend Lynnfield Lahey! read more

I am not one to go to urgent care unless I am really unwell. I honestly see them more often than my PCP though. Everyone on the staff from when you check in all the way through being seen by the advanced practioners are professional, kind and compassionate. The NPs are incredibly knowledgeable, and Roberta's bedside manner is top notch. I am lucky to live so close to great care. read more

Honestly, the rudest front desk people. This is mainly the reason behind my switching from this office to Hallmark Health. From the people answering the phones-they have no clue what they are talking about - to the people checking patients in....rude. Stand and wait till they are done talking with each other, no hello, just wait there. All I needed was s form to get out of this practice and I had to stand and wait till the person finished her conversation about her hair stylist. I thought things would improve when they moved from their old building to Market Street. Not even close. Just stop the madness! I'm done - moving on. read more

I had a great experience that first time I visited here. This second time was probably one of my worst healthcare experiences. I came to urgent care because I noticed white spots in my throat. I'm in nursing school and knew I should get it checked out. My strep came back negative but was told by the NP who was very rude and seemed like she didn't even want to be there that I worked at a daycare and it probably was hand foot and mouth. I didn't have a fever or sores elsewhere on my body. I simply asked her if it could be tonsillitis since my tonsils were the only things swollen with white patches. I was then given a horrible look by her and she snapped at me saying " no I've been doing this for a long time, it's not that it's hand foot and mouth." Simply for asking a question. What happened to empathy when doing patient care or taking the time to answer questions. It was no attack on her credibility or education. It was simply a question. I will never return here after this experience. And advise others to go to afc urgent care where they won't be treated horribly. read more

If you enjoy the factory/ assembly line approach to medicine this is the place for you. If you prefer medical CARE, I would avoid the Lahey Health Hub. The Urgent Care is ok but the regular medical operation makes you wait for them...then if you are 10 minutes late for an appointment you had to wait a week for, they cancel you. Was hoping to be more impressed by this place since it's conveniently located at the Lynnfield Marketplace. It's nice and new. But you'll be waiting quite a while in the lobby to see anyone...not unlike an ER, even for something minor/routine. I'd only recommend this place for something truly urgent that couldn't wait for an appointment at your doctor's office. read more

I had a friend tell me this story: " Walking into urgent care, gave me a mask before I told them what's wrong with me. This is about the Nurse Practitioner there. I told her my symptoms, never took my blood pressure, said the thermometer was broke...anyway, she dismissed me with allergies, said she would not send me for an X-ray because she didn't want someone to "gown up" for my symptoms. She was rude, hurried, and impatient. I told her my throat hurt she said it was red....I told her other symptoms I had in the past that felt bronchial and she ignored it all. I am a senior and lo and behold, I went to another doctor who prescribed me an antibiotic because I have BRONCHIAL PNEUMONIA. Please don't go here. I could have had the virus and she never cared about anything. Very unprofessional. She does not know what she's doing. Nightmare." read more

My girlfriend had an infected finger - no big deal but she did need some antibiotics. I got in there like about 9AM. Due to the COVID and such it said call this number on a sign outside which I did. Well.. that number was off the hook because no one bothered to turn the thing on. So we went in and there was a receptionist. My girlfriend checked in. The receptionist said there are 2 people being seen - we'll call you right after that to come in -- wait in your car. Well we got a coffee around the corner and waited and waited -- over 40 minutes passed. I go back and ask how long now? A new receptionist say there are 3 people ahead of us. I said how could that be? I was on the list. There were two people ahead of us fourty minutes ago. The new person sitting there said we don't have a list. Now I'm pissed so I said yes there is a list and find us on the list well as I made a stink the one that checked us in popped out and said oh - no those two people are still here and you had one person that .. uh .. uh.. I was in the car next.. uh.. I said that's BS - it doesn't take an hour to treat two people who were already in here you just never called and I've wasted an hour or more and now you want my to drive around like an idiot some more while you continue to screw your job up. waste our time, and text your boyfriend as you forget about us? NO! In short unless your time is worth absolutley nothing and you have hours to burn I would strongly suggest another option. read more

Run as fast as you can. I have been having health problems since December, 2019. My PCP is so overbooked that she literally doesn't have the capacity to spend any amount of time with patients. If you have tests ordered, they require you to book an appointment to even review the test results, yet release them in the system without any context. They are much more interested in scooping up your copay than actually caring for patients. The Urgent Care downstairs is even WORSE. Awful, awful. I went in keeled over with pain in my side in March. They didn't do a physical exam, didn't do any imaging and said I had kidney stones. I finally visited a urologist and said that was a wildly inappropriate diagnosis to give without imaging or next steps. So here I am, almost six months later, with increasing symptoms and no answers. Thankfully the urologist I saw was the first person to actually look into my tests, file and history and put a plan of action together. Meanwhile, my PCP is fully disengaged from this whole process.
