EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS! BOB PLESSINGER is the BEST! I was very lucky to get introduced to Bob via Redfin in Dallas. I started using Redfin initially because 1) I was doing a remote search from San Francisco 2) I love technology and the alerts and open houses made it simple to tour homes Bob and I talked at great lengths over the phone about what we were looking. He listened with great care and helped us make suggestions. With Redfin, it's easy to tour homes. There were a few times, we went with another team member/touring agent because it fit into our schedule, not just Sat, Sun and Tues. After touring about 30 homes and condos, Bob helped us figure out neighborhoods and homes that would fit us because he listened to our needs. We initially thought we wanted to live in a high rise condo when we first started. So over time as we toured each home, I could see Bob inspect homes and give us advice about how to fix things up. He is extremely detailed oriented and knows a lot about home improvement as he himself has built/remodeled multiple homes. So as we narrowed down options, we finally put an offer on a house, but ultimately, we were out cashed. We put an offer on another house that we also loved and followed the process through. Bob patiently explained the whole process with inspections, earnest money, etc. He also helped us make recommendations on the offer price and down payment. Well 1 day before we would love lost our earnest money, I got a Redfin email alert that the first house came back on the market. With Redfin, we may not have known in time! Bob already went through almost the entire process to close on the 1st house and now we had to do it again! The one moment when I knew that Bob was the best agent was when we were driving in California and it was 11:00 pm so in Dallas, it was 1:00 am! Bob knew we had a touch decision and went above and beyond to speak to us and give us great advice. He was even able to negotiate some money back from the owners since the inspection was worse than we thought. Needless to say, Bob was there at every step, all inspections, closing and most importantly, he was there for us emotionally. I still stay in touch with Bob and he has given me more advice on pool, flooring and even furniture shopping! He is delightful to work and I highly recommend him! PROs: - Bob was easy to communicate with. He responded to every text, e-mail or phone call in a speedy manner especially given the distance and time zone differences. - Bob is extremely knowledgeable about the Dallas neighborhoods and gave us pro/cons. - Bob has a rolodex of resources for inspections, mortgage brokers, experts for AC, Pool, flooring, electrical, etc. It made the process fast and seamless and is now helpful as we already moved in. - Bob's entire team was incredible to work with - Pam, Sean and Justin. You don't just get 1 agent at Redfin, you get a team that works for you! CONs: - Bob has to sleep a few hours a night. Wish to comment on Redfin Realty, in general, I guess... We were interested in viewing some houses for sale (in one of these large cities), and contacted Redfin first, as we, like manymany other housebuyers, use their site (and others), to view the market. After laborious texting with an assistant to an agent, we managed to arrange an appointment for viewing. Then, we were 'dinged' with a request to send/show a government-issued ID with photo, to proceed with our appointment! The agent said that 'its for the protection of our agents', 'due to previous incidents of fraud'. We've been 'dealing with' real estate for over a decade, and in several states, and never have we been asked such a bizarre request! We were not going to sign a contract to buy - only to view houses. We view our IDs as very personal, and only shown for services that legally require such info. We don't understand this request; how does it prevent 'an act of fraud'? And, conversely, an ID can be forged/falsified, so how does this (false) document prevent 'an act of fraud'? -- Obviously, we cancelled the appointment, and won't deal directly with Redfin again. read more

When my husbands job took us to Dallas, we were concerned about finding the right place to live since neither of us had any familiarity with Dallas. Searching through the houses online was easy, but trying to find the right house and the right neighborhood was something that we just couldn't get online - enter Carmen Jones. It's like she's known us for years. She helped us find a home in a neighborhood that fits us perfectly. We've been through several real estate transactions before and the way Carmen, and her team, handled this one was fantastic! Buying in a new state left us with lots of questions. I have been following redfin for a couple of years in other markets. I was happy to see them come to Dallas and utilized them for the purchase of my last house. Their agent, Risa Tompson, is awesome. Great assistance on property, mortgage recommendations, inspection and title company. In my opinion,Traditional real estate agents ( the names you see everywhere) have too much control over the rules made by the Texas real estate commission- and NOT in favor of the consumer, it's all about protecting their commissions. Redfin is a great business model in the very traditional real estate industry. We recently used them for both our sale and purchase transactions. A few positives: you get a team to work with rather than just a single agent, so someone is always available should you need assistance; they also rebate a portion of the traditional commission to you, while still giving you all the services as a traditional agent. I just closed on a house in Stonebridge Ranch that Redfin represented me on. I had never used Redfin before, but being an internet guy, thought I would try them out. I couldn't be more pleased with them. You don't get just one person; you get a team. They lead you every step of the way, and they are very responsive to questions and concerns. And to top it all off, if you use Redfin, you get money back after closing! I'm getting almost 5k back!!! My agent was Carmen Jones, and she was great. She's very knowledgeable about real estate and very experienced. She is very opinionated, but I like strong opinions whether I agree with them or not. You at least know she's being honest about her feelings about what you're looking at, and you can make a decision from there. I will definitely use Carmen for any future real estate transactions. That said, she helped us close on our dream home, so there may never be another transaction! One last thing about Redfin. There website has a really cool feature where you can pick the houses you want to see, group them together, and request a showing. Redfin will then coordinate everything and someone from the Redfin team will guide you through the properties. It made viewing homes very easy, and it's mostly handled via internet/email. I loved it! I tried to sell my home last spring there were several request to have the floors hand scraped a few other things I had finished this December. So I tried them again this was a horrible mistake. In the last week a lone trying to close has been a huge cluster and keep in mind this was a cash buyer so my Relator Robin is making two commissions. One from me as a seller and one for representing the buyer. I was instructed to have my utilities turned off after we close such was to be yesterday March 23 my signing was at 10am. But the Redfin representative never came so the buyer could have his representative do a final walk through. So that NEVER happened yesterday so I am still stuck paying on a mortgage and interest in a loan that should have closed yesterday so I will pay on a mortgage for 2 days and interest because of Redfin I acknowledge that it is a contracting service but that's not my fault. I did everything that I was instructed to do. I would NEVER recommend Redfin to sell anything much less someone's home that they enjoyed and raised their kids in. This is still not over I just got off the phone with the manager for the Redfin office named Shawn. It appears the closing will not happen today either. So there is no telling how long I will be paying on a home I do not live in because a Redfin representative. This was a horrible idea to use Redfin and will never be done again. read more

She went above and beyond the call of duty on many occasions, often times doing things that were the responsibility of the seller or seller's agent just because she wanted to make sure my interests were represented and to ensure everything went smoothly. I just closed on a house using Redfin (Carmen Jones) as my agent. If you are hesitant about using using a non traditional Agency, don't be! They have only top notch people working in the company with years of real estate experience. Every person in the Dallas team who I had interactions with were amazing! The Website is extremely user friendly, they offer free classes on various aspects of the process (take advantage of these), the app is amazing on updating you about new listings/ changes in prices, and you will work with the best in the business. On top of all of this, you even get a rebate of a portion of the commission ($3600 in my case). I'm not sure how traditional agencies can compete with all that Redfin has to offer. Since they work as a team, someone is always available for showings or questions that might arise. It's a great advantage in this competitive Dallas market. When you factor in all of these positives, I can't think of a single reason not to take advantage of their service. Redfin thrives on reviews and is extremely transparent. It is all laid out in front of you and available on the website. Everyone is accountable (lender, home inspector, title company, and Realtor) and you will have an opportunity to rate them after the closing. I will never buy another property with having Redin in my corner! If you are still on the fence, attend a free class (they even provide food and drink). I'm certain that you will be blown away as I was. It was so informative that I was sad when it ended. When was the last time that you could say that about a class? Also, as the previous reviewer stated, go with Carmen Jones! It will be the best decision that you ever made. She know every aspect of the business and will go above and beyond when representing you. Hands down the best agency I've ever worked with and they are up to speed on the rebate trend that's happening. Mark and his team was one of the best agents I've worked with. I regret being peer pressured by family friends to go with their friend who was an agent after I took a break from looking because that person was a royal nightmare. With redfin they have a full team of people that can help you... Don't need to worry about one agent and only one agent being able to meet you to show a home or take care of any situation that may arise. They are also super nice and 90% of the team never even tried to remotely pressure me to buy a home. I met with Tony King on a Thursday and signed listing papers that day. I was scheduled for real estate photos for the following Wednesday, and was told that it would be a week later before everything was complete in regards to the listing. I woke up the next day with listing remorse for several reasons, the first being that it was going to take so long to get my listing out there and I had worked so hard to get my house ready and didn't want to wait 2 more weeks. I also had remorse because instead of telling the client what is great about their house he spent his time focusing on the negatives and even went so far to say that I HAD TO GET GRANITE COUNTERS INSTALLED AND REPLACE ALL OF MY APPLIANCES WITH STAINLESS STEEL. He said this a couple of times. It was absurd, my appliances are 2 1/2 years old. When I sent an email saying that i expected my house to be on MLS within 48 hours of taking the photographs and wanted a schedule for everything else, he called and cancelled the listing. Why did he do that? Because they are paid by customer surveys and he knew he would NOT get good survey results from me. He likes to talk in sales-eeze instead of giving customers specific information about their listing. Do not list with Tony King in the DFW area. Redfin RE understand that today's buyers/sellers are utilizing the internet as an ad hoc real estate and thus by passing the typical hard sell real estate agent model. Their pricing model reflects this. After using Redfin for the sale of our Dallas home, I'll not use a traditional RE agent again.
