I don't know where else to write this. This is a general comment about Redfin . They bought our current house from its previous owner and flipped it. They made the outside of the house look nice but used really cheap materials. Our windows started to fall apart very quickly. They saw that they had to replace some of the plumbing under the house which was from the 1950s but they did as little as possible and within four years of us buying the house we have had to completely replace the plumbing . there is no way that they didn't see that coming. I have the sense that they did as little as they could to make as much money as possible. Grade: F- read more

I have to echo what another reviewer said about redfin agent Gabe Mannie. We found him to be very unprofessional and rude. Once he has a signed contract he is m.i.a. Unresponsive half the time and when you do get a hold of him on the phone he's rude and short. If you want to use Redfin make sure you don't use him. read more

Dawn Marie Brown is good... until she isn't. Up until the point of signing the purchase sale agreement, she was very communicative. Once the contract was signed however, she disappeared. Radio silent. She missed contractual deadlines. Didn't answer phones, text messages, and amazingly even her transaction coordinator fell off the face of the earth at the same time. It wasn't until we sent a notice to perform AFTER she missed a contractual deadline that she suddenly called and let us know that she was in a seminar... 1. She should be on top of contingency deadlines that her clients are in contract for. 2. If you are going to be unavailable for days on end, LET PEOPLE KNOW! 3. There is no excuse to stop communicating altogether, and fall out of contract. She was incredibly unprofessional, having zero consideration for anyone's time, even showing up late to final inspections after going MIA on the transaction. She treats this job like a hobby, at best. Dawn Marie is what gives the real estate industry and agents a bad name and image. The entire transaction was very stressful due to how poorly she handled herself and the transaction, which was sloppy and lackadaisical. At the close of escrow, she actually said "well I have plans to go on vacation so I can't wait around for this" when the lender screwed up the closing docs. Wow. If you choose to work with Redfin (the Walmart of agents), I would avoid this agent - she's on her way out! read more

He represented us well as we were in the Bay Area, he was patient, communicated frequently, was always available to answer my questions, was honest and was genuinely a good person. I contacted Redfin to see if they were going to offer the 1.5% listing fee, come to find out they wanted higher- so I contacted the agent my friend recommended and they were fine with the discount when I listed my home with them- Bate and switch, I think it is called. I also have another friend that was working with their showing agents and he is done, they don't offer the personal touch - too corporate, not local, just a bunch of young, un-experienced agents. read more

We dexided to try these guys out because their rates would have saved us a few % \ $'s !! At first "Gavin" seemed to be a realtor working for the customer and appeared to be willing to do what it takes to make sure the customer is happy. My wife and I needed to discuss terms after she met with him. We came to a agreement for a price point and that's when he became rude and forgot what customer service means. I had a feeling it would turn out this way because he started off trying to impress us with having houses only 11 days on Market or something like that for an average. Personally I just look at that that he's getting people to lowball and instead of quality he's going after quantity. The woman that came out to do our 3D photograph was only concerned about herself and was not willing to help me the customer and make sure things were in place from her professional perspective. I also had a couple of things that I had to put away because we were still in the process of making sure the house was ready to go which it was almost 100% ready. This 3D photographer was so self-centered that all she wanted to do was reschedule me because I literally had 15 dishes and cups to put away. Other than that we were ready for her besides trying to get some advice on what should or shouldn't be in the photographs. But again all she cared about was rescheduling us apparently she was not willing to help. I ended up just throwing everything into a laundry basket and then put it into the garage so there I was no question whether they should or shouldn't be there because I just got rid of it. Then I was told I wasn't allowed into my own house during the photos because it's so sensitive that apparently anybody in the photos will cause a stitching artifact or something like that. I was not happy that I had to allow a stranger into my house and could not be there during the photographs. After the 3D photographer left, another photographer came in to do stand-alone Imaging. I thought that was incredibly inefficient and quite honestly stupid to have two separate photographers come out and do the job that one person could and should have done. The gentleman that showed up to do the stand alone images was a little bit nicer that's why I'm giving two stars and not one but even he really wasn't a rockstar. Again I was not welcomed in my own house. I don't believe they stoled or took anything but that's not the point I should have been allowed to be by their side while they're going through my house! No matter how much hey save overall for selling the house it's not worth being treated with such disrespect. I would suggest using these guys to give you a quote be it written or verbal, and contact somebody with a proven track record and see if they are willing to negotiate there rates. read more

I am unable to recommend Matt Jones of Redfin for anyone's home buying needs. I will provide one example of the unfavorable events that occurred after I submitted a strong offer on an Elk Grove house on the evening of Friday, March 11, 2016. The offer was about $2,000 less than Matt's recommended figure. On Saturday morning, Matt emailed me to let me know that he "just saw an offer come through on Redfin" for the house. The offer was from one of his associate's clients and Matt didn't have any details. Also, Matt stated that the seller was delaying review of my offer until Saturday evening, which Matt stated was "likely because he's expecting other offers now." Matt asked if I had questions or "would like to modify the offer." Based upon this email, I thought I was now competing against other buyers for the house and considered increasing my offer based upon that belief. However, I ultimately did not ask questions or modify my offer. On Sunday, after some emails back and forth, Matt relayed that there were no other offers on the house. I asked about the offer that went through Redfin on Saturday, and Matt explained that "when another Redfin agent's client submits an offer online it doesn't necessarily mean they submit an offer to the seller." Matt stated that he always notifies his clients when there is another "potential" offer on the table as it is in "their best interest." Matt assured me that he was not trying to have me increase my offer price. On Saturday, Matt had not told me it was only a "potential" offer or that not all offers go to the seller. I was not happy to learn that the "offer" I almost bid against was just a "potential offer." I would have been bidding against myself! I revoked my offer (which the seller tried to accept after the revocation) and walked away from the house because I won't tolerate this type of behavior. read more

Redfin will only sell high priced homes. I contacted Redfin to sell my home. I had an appointment scheduled with an agent and everything was set. Once I gave Redfin my address, I was told that they were in high demand and would not be able to help me sell my home for a couple of weeks and suggested I work with a partner agent. I told Redfin that I didn't mind waiting and wasn't in a rush to sell my home. I then received an email stating that they could not help me because my home would sell below their commission fee. I wish Redfin would have been honest with me from the beginning. If they had been upfront with me and told me my home was below their commission fee, instead of lying to me, I would have considered working with a partner agent. How can you trust an agency that is dishonest? read more

Redfin as a website to look for homes is great. However, if selling your home in Sacramento I absolutely do NOT recommend them. Our experience in attempting to sell our home through Redfin was a complete disaster as they terminated our agent in the middle of our sale without any back up plan whatsoever, nor any communication to me. This resulted in our buyer pulling out of the deal. The complete lack of professionalism on behalf of Redfin was appalling as was their response to my justified complaint letter. If zero stars were an option that is what I would give Redfin. Because of her diligence, we received a second offer (cash) within a few days of Redfin bumbling our first sale. We recently purchased a home that was listed by a Redfin Agent. Gabe was a horrible agent. The home buying process is already stressful and then in this Covid 19 season, even more so. Gabe successfully made this the most difficult and stressful transactions I have ever been through. All it required was simple communication. The only time communication was timely was in respect to closing, which is when he would get his commission. Contractors had to wait for hours to get into a home because he refused to respond timely. Our move was delayed because he failed to properly communicate to the contractors. The day we were to get keys to our new home, he gave my agent the wrong code and then did not respond to her for hours on end so that we couldn't get into OUR home. All Redfin Agents cares about is doing as little work as possible and getting their money. If you can avoid selling or BUYING from a Redfin agent, I would strongly urge you to do so. read more

I felt compelled to write this review after I read Melinda C's review below. Unlike her, I had a great experience with Redfin and my agent, Dillon. This was my second home buying experience, and compared to the first experience I had with Julie Partain with Lyon Real Estate of Davis (in 1999), it was a night and day experience. I, too, am a busy person, but I found that Redfin definitely helped me save time during my home search in a competitive market. Their website has the most up to date info on current and new listings. I received push alerts on my phone when a new listing in the area I was searching came on market, followed by an email within the hour. A day or two later, I would get the same alerts via email from Trulia and Zillow. Because of this notification advantage, ultimately, I was able to submit a strong offer ahead of most people because I toured the home within 24 of it coming on market. And when you see a home you want to tour, you just click on the "Tour It" button and someone in the office gets to work right away. Versus a traditional agent, who you're lucky if you can get a hold of, I doubt few could respond and arrange for a tour as quickly. Because Redfin works as a team, Redfin coordinators set up the tours and confirm that your agent will be there at the time you requested or will send another agent in their place so again, you're not stuck waiting on your contracted agent. Melinda nailed it when she alluded that Dillon is personable. He is also responsive and proactive. I didn't set out planning to use Redfin or Dillon as my agent, but after he tirelessly and enthusiastically led us on several home tours, he won us over. Never once did I feel Dillon or Josh Martin, the two agents I've had contact with, were ever disinterested or annoyed when I asked questions. I even appreciated that they let us explore each property on our own instead of hovering over us constantly. Because of the area Redfin covers, I think it's understandable that an agent would not necessarily have full knowledge of each property shown. Plus most of the info I was curious about IS covered either on the Redfin website/app. I was impressed that Dillon had advised me of relevant market stats and trends for the area where I was searching and Josh had offered advice on how to craft a strong offer based on our unique situation. When we finally found the right home for us, it was Easter weekend, Dillon and Josh worked together to make sure they took care of us. Because Dillon was out of town, Josh took us on the home tour and offered insight on our offer. Even though Dillon was out of town, he was proactive communicating with us and helped us write the eventual winning offer. I wish Redfin was around 16 years ago when I purchased my first home. Back then, my agent was hard to get a hold of and never returned calls in a timely manner, especially after my offer was accepted. This time, I found it exponentially easy to stay in touch. Dillon and I readily communicated via phone, text and email throughout the process. I knew he was still giving home tours throughout the Sac area, but he was always available for consultation or replied with minimal delay. Sure, if you really desire a specific neighborhood and property, could there be a boutique real estate office and agent who knows it better than anyone else? Of course there will be. However, if you're like me and feel it is important to do a little homework of your own when it comes to purchasing a property, and you appreciate convenience, good use technology, and great customer service, then you'll probably enjoy your Redfin experience! read more

I first heard about Redfin from a friend who used their app. I wasn't in the market to buy at that time, however, their app was a great tool to use to see what the market was like. The amount of options you get on their app make it real easy to narrow down your search. I later received an invite from Redfin to attend one of their New Home-buyers classes that they hold in the Sacramento Area. While attending this class I was able to meet both Lindsay Martin and Nikki Lawrence. At the time, my wife and I were months away from being ready to buy our first home in the Roseville area. Moving from the Bay Area was suppose to be a challenging transition, however, Lindsay Martin made our first buying experience so simple! Lindsay was very accommodating during the whole process, which began with touring, and then ultimately making an offer on our first home. Never had purchased a home before, we leaned on Lindsay's expertise during the whole buying process. In a time where most people were offering over asking price, Lindsay helped us to get our home for below asking and we closed within 45 days. All the back and forth communication with the buyers agent was made simple as Lindsay was always keeping us in the loop and was always available if I needed to call, email or text message with questions. Living 1 1/2 hours from where we were buying did not make matters easy, but Lindsay was always able to be at the house on our behalf until we could make it there for all the inspections, re-inspections, walk-thru's, ect... If Lindsay could not make it, other Redfin agents Nikki Lawrence and Heather Harmon, were there to fill in. There was never a moment we felt we were doing this on our own and we knew we could always rely on Redfin. Unexpectedly, we were in need of selling our home after just 1 year 4 months of living in it. Luckily, I knew who to call to get this done. Lindsay and her Redfin team worked hard on getting us top dollar on our home. Lindsay met at our home with fellow Redfin Agent, Cecilia Gomez-Prado, and discussed how the whole selling process works and went over in great detail all the things that were going to take place in the coming weeks. Redfin brought in a professional photographer, who I may add, took amazing photos. I have seen some very poor house listings and I just have to say that having a professional take the pictures makes a huge difference! Redfin coordinated our Open House, which produced a huge turnout, and we were able to accept an offer less than 1 week from putting the house on the market. Selling the home just a little over a year of purchasing it was not ideal for me and was a difficult pill to swallow, but Redfin made the process so smooth and we were even able to make a little change on the sale! The house was put on the market and literally sold the following month and it was because of all the hard work Lindsay Martin and the entire Redfin staff put in to what they do!!! Recently, we helped our friends to look for a home in the area. All we can say is that the Redfin service they received was the worst ever. My friends even had to report the lack of commitment , honesty and respect of the Realtor to Redfin management, and they did nothing about it. To make the story short, Redfin will really provide you 0% satisfaction guarantee from the beginning of home buying process through closing. Bill Sadek a redfin partner who still works for redfin will abandon buyers in the middle of the home buying process. All he wants is a quick commission, and will probably refer you to one of his dishonest shark friends to make you the loan. We were shocked after seeing the estimates the loan officer refereed by Bill Sadek provided to our friends!. Our friends got tired of Redfin service after weeks of wasted time and research, and not support from Bill nor Redfin. They even had to do most of his job, but he still wanted full commission. I'm glad our friends were able to find a different buyer agent who really was honest, committed to the house buyer and really cared about finding the best home and deal for the client. FYI: Redfin does not allow prospective buyers to post reviews at Redfin.com, you'll have to purchase a home with them in order to be able to post a review! No wonder why he drives a latest model Mercedes. I wonder how many inexperienced buyers have gone trough his hands. All you need is a good credit score to get a good loan, a reliable, excellent negotiator, hard worker, experienced and honest buyer agent, a good, honest and competitive lender, a good place to search for houses: Trulia, Redfin, Zillow, and a very good book about what to look for when buying a loan, and what to look for when buying a home (home inspection, look for junk fees in the estimates etc...) . Don't let dishonest lenders, nor realtors trick you so that they can get their commission asap and the easy way. Because of dishonest people like them this country is in this situation, and thousands of families are losing their homes, thanks to dishonest lenders and realtors or dual agents. We loved Redfin as home-buyers, but with conditions. We loved that because Redfin works as a team (versus traditional agents where you work with one agent) you could pretty much see a home when you want to, because there's almost always someone available. The downside to this, however, is that you sometimes are working with agents who may not be as great, standards vary. We absolutely LOVE and would suggest working with Heather Harmon and Lindsay Martin for the Sacramento-Folsom areas. They were timely, professional and made the process enjoyable. They were patient with our needs and we looked forward to viewing homes with both of them! We miss working with them! We just closed escrow on a darling vintage house in Roseville, CA! We loved using Redfin to find our house as the listings are up to date by the minute. Houses were selling quickly this Spring, so having a fast up-to-date website, and very responsive agent were crucial as we lived about 7 hours from the area. Debra Longwood, our Redfin associated Realtor, did email us, or call us back very quickly each time we had a question, or concern. She was with us all the way, and really cared. It seems to me such a personalized way to buy a house. And the Redfin website is loaded with tons of information about home buying. I did not go to any classes, but just reading it all online was a great way to learn. I wish I had actually gotten a Redfin account earlier as it was so much fun to mark Favorites with a heart, and then get instant email updates on all my search areas and favorites. It helps you get to know the area well, and what is happening in the housing market in your cities. And then, while you are doing your research, the agent has been able to view the trends in your favorites, and jumps in to start the ball rolling when you say you are ready to see houses. So we picked the house, and then she totally managed all the details like offers, escrow, and inspections. Totally no pressure, totally personalized, totally efficient. With the use of smartphones and computers, I really feel like Redfin has the edge in home buying. It is so different from a traditional approach where a Realtor finds houses she thinks you will like. After having a terrible experience with ReMax, which resulted in much frustration over poor communication, we gave Redfin a try. We worked with Matt Jones, who had only moved to Sacramento a couple of weeks earlier. When we met him for the first time at our first showing, we were soooo impressed. First, he arrived early in the neighborhood to scope it out and had some great insight into the neighborhood. (Our ReMax agent was always at least 15-20 minutes late so being on time was a nice bit of professionalism we lacked before Matt!) Then, when we were deciding between a few houses, he was great and talked important details such as price per square foot for each home and how it compared to the neighborhood as a whole, the ratings of nearby schools off the top of his head, potential resale, etc. it was everything we lacked and craved with our old agent. It really helped clarify our decisions. Ultimately, the sellers rejected our full price offer in favor of airBnB (which Matt called... Prior to the listing on airBnB... He has great intuition). We still had issues collecting our deposit check from our ReMax experience and while Matt wasn't involved in those shenanigans, he was a great resource for us as we tried to get our money back. In the end, we found a great house and Matt was wonderful to work with. Quick to return our emails and texts, great at keeping us up to speed on where we were at in the process. We were his first sale in the Sacramento area and no doubt he will be a huge success. We strongly recommend him. Thanks Matt! read more

Melanie Cortez Franklin of Redfin was the selling agent of the home I recently purchased in Roseville. The sellers left a significant amount of trash inside the house; boxes of old books, dog toys, an office desk, and a lot of just plain garbage. In addition the house was dirty, including the kitchen tile floor which was disgusting (including spots of dried blood). Our agent sent pictures of the trash and the dirty floor to the Redfin selling agent. There was no response, no returned phone calls. I contacted the selling agent myself and left a voice mail message but I've not received a call back. I'm trying to unpack and settle in to my new home but I have to take care of disposing of someone else's trash first. read more

I am a seller in the North Sacramento Area. If you are a seller, do not bother to contact Redfin. Their website lists a bunch of agents and leads you on....but they only represent buyers in the Sacramento Area. They have some "affiliated agents" that are suggested but they do not guarantee that they will offer any discounted fees. I wasted my time with Redfin and will not ever think of considering them in the future. On the positive side, there are many other agents that offer full services at discounted rates and will represent both sellers and buyers...I advise you to look into those. read more

I have not used their services, but this review is for their homebuying seminar. We woke up at 6:30 AM to drive the 2 1/2 hours to attend their homebuying seminar. I was disappointed for couple of reasons. I am never hungry when I first wake up, and the ad for the seminar said they would provide food and drinks. Since it was held at the Cheesecake Factory, I figured they would provide a plate of danish's or something appropriate for breakfast (it was held at 10AM). What did they provide as food? tiny slivers of cheese cake, and it tasted slightly off like the CF had given them a nearly spoiled cheesecake to serve at a discount. My stomach did get upset on the drive home. I don't mean to look a gift horse in the mouth, but cheesecake at 10AM? That is not "food "as advertised, that is dessert.The 2 women who held the seminar were very nice, but the seminar was more about using their service, than about educating a person on the process of homebuying. I have been to 2 other homebuying courses 30 years ago, and thought I would take another one as a refresher, so I could learn more about buying foreclosures. This seminar is definitely not for first time buyers, no educational info is provided, this is only a seminar to sell you on using Redfin. The other disapointment was that they only handle purchases of 200K or more. I wish they would have stated this upfront, because I wouldn't have wasted my time. After I sell my home, I am setting aside 200k cash, and want to find 2 foreclosures for that price, so I guess I will have to work with a company that is open to all levels of buyers, not just the elite over 200k class. The one thing I do like about Redfin is they do have the best overall website for viewing homes for sale. But, next time be more upfront about what your seminars are really about, and don't promise food and provide rancid cheesecake at 10AM in the morning. I would have been happy to stop on the drive up and eat breakfast, but I figured since you offered, and I spent over half a tank of gas driving up there, I would just eat what was provided. Redfin is a great website , has a great app and easy to navigate and definitely has the best user experience hands down. It is an added bonus that you get some of the commission paid to you but as the cliche goes, you get what you pay for so expect to be doing a lot of the coordinating an agent usually handles on your own. I actually left RedFin to work with another Realtor who was great but had to come back when a house we put an offer on had a fall through with the first buyer and contacted our agent again. Unlike the other reviewers, I had a terrible time working with Heather Harmon (who is no longer with RedFin thankfully).. She was not quick to respond, was not helpful or nice, had us ridden with anxiety most of the time, and left (don't know if this was by choice) Redfin in the middle closing our deal. She did not work around our schedule and implied I shouldn't be sending her emails after working hours because she had to "turn off" at some point. She was never available to talk during the day . Her departure was actually when RedFin got good, we worked with Lindsay Martin for the remainder of the deal and she was actually great, very helpful, extremely nice and responsive. If it weren't for her taking over the deal, I would have given this review 1 star for all the heartache and agent induced stress. We did get the check at the end which was nice, but I would have easily paid it to avoid having to figh so hard. All in and all, we got the dream house , but I wouldn't go back to them if I had to move again read more

I just purchased a home in Sacramento with Heather Harmon from Redfin. I love that Redfin.com is easy to use, up-to-date, and has a lot of helpful information about the home buying process. Once I started touring homes with Heather I found her to be very knowledgeable, professional, and extremely quick to respond to any questions or issues that I was having. I ended up falling in love with a house that had a difficult seller who tried to weasel out of our contract so that he could go with another (presumably higher offer) after he had accepted my offer and we were more than half way through escrow. Heather really fought for me and was meticulous with her paperwork and attention to detail and managed to pull the deal through despite the best efforts of the slime-ball seller and his horribly amoral real estate agent. read more

We had a great experience with Jed Setzer as the broker in the purchase of our house. He was very responsive to our questions, helpful in moving through the process, made very constructive suggestions as to how to deal with issues as they came up. Earlier in the process, Rosalind Pylez showed us a number homes. She was not only very pleasant and professional, by unlike real eof positives and negatives about the homes we were seeing, which was very helpful. On top of everything else, Redfin has a giving some of the commission earned to the buyer, which was extremely beneficial to us and unlike any real estate company I had ever used in the past. read more
