Folks, just remember, if you get into an accident in City of Redmond while being non-white, and the other being white, 99.9% you will get the ticket, even if you present evidence to the contrary. After my accident tonight, while I knew that Redmond PD will find me the guilty party, it was a very hard reality to accept, despite of previous knowledge and experience with them. I did some online research and the very first search result was that if you a person of color, you are almost 12 times more likely to get mistreated. The murder of Arpana Jinaga after 17 years has not been solved, but the murder of Lorill Sinclaire was solved after 11. You see, if you are Jinaga, they don't have enough resources, such as caring, but god forbid if you are a Sinclaire. They will get a conviction, one way or another. ;-) read more

Worst Experience I have ever had. Michael from the phone team picked up my call and called me to the station to report my hit and run case. When I got there, he made me wait for an hour and a half, hung up on me multiple times when I was asking clarifying questions, and gave me alternative information on how to speak with an officer from when I asked other police departments for support. This was embarrassing and as a new citizen here from the Midwest I feel extremely unsafe given the kind of experience they provide their citizens. read more

The Laziest most worthless organization (public or private) that I've ever dealt with. I literally led them to the door where my stolen property was. I gave them descriptions of the items taken, location where the items were being held, names of the people involved, dates etc etc. The total taken was in excess of $200,000. That equates to grand theft. The investigating officer went to the location, observed the items taken and spoke with the people identified. After all of this he basically threw it back on me to deal with. Complicating this even further is the fact that a police report was never completed/filed. At this point, they have left me no option other than escalating this to the Attorny Generals office. I've never seen such incompetance read more

Black people beware of Redmond police, they'll do every but violate your civil rights. They'll follow you while driving and from place to place. I've had officers slowly circle my vehicle while shopping for no reason. While meditating at Sixty Acres Park I was treated like a criminal and detained by officer's, apparently the park was closed and I was given a warning for trespassing (even though no park hours are posted). The Redmond police department foster a culture of racism and aggressive behavior specifically against black people. Don't take it personal or let their ignorance ruin your day. read more

Got pulled over today, which isn't a good thing of course. But, I was driving a company vehicle at the speed limit (gps tracking on the truck that monitors speed), but my license plate was apparently unreadable. I had no idea. So, this young police offer approached and was very polite and professional. She stated her name and her badge number, clearly identified a traffic violation and then asked for my ID and registration all in good order. That is all I think most people ask of police: respect my privacy unless I commit some sort of violation, then ask questions only relevant to the violation. Again, being pulled over is never fun. However, I really appreciated that I met with an officer who is simply trying to put in an honest day's work. I wish I could remember her name so she could get credit for this review. Wow, I've lived in Redmond for over 15 years and had many enounters with the RPD (no, not in the criminal sense! LOL), and they've been nothing less than polite, courteous and professional to me. I have to question the motives of the prior two reviewers - especially Kristina, who broadly makes bold accusations of the whole force being "racist" and "cowards" and "disrespectful of women" without providing one specific example to back these outrageous claims. My husband attended the RPD "Citizens' Academy" years ago, to learn more about what police officers do, why and how they do it, and what their experiences in the field was like. It was enlightening, to say the least. These free "academy" classes are held sporadically, and involve classroom time and police ride-alongs. The RPD also hold regular, free "Women's Safety" classes, one of which I attended a few years ago. Wow, it was an incredible class, and I learned a ton of practical life-lessons on how to stay safe, and what to do in various threatening real-life situations. For years, too, the RPD manned sub-stations which helped walk-in folks with minor matters, outfitted kids for bike helmets, etc.(I think they closed the sub-stations, due to budget cuts). The RPD do a great deal of community service work: they are very involved in the "Tip a Cop" events for the Special Olympics, and do active fundraising for cancer organizations, food collections, teddy bears for kids collections, etc. SRO (RPD School Resource Officers) are an integral presence in the Redmond middle and high schools, and I truly believe they create a safer school environment there, and foster closer ties between kids and police in general. Years ago, I personally had problems with my neighbors who left threatening notes on my car (this was quite a while ago, but I remember the incidences clearly), and I was also the victim of identity theft. On both occasions, the officers helped me enormously and mediated the problems at hand swiftly and professionally. Am I saying the whole police force is without issues, that none of the officers could possibly ever smirk while writing up a citation (as Buddy wrote in his review), that all of them are always smiling and friendly and warm? Hardly. As in any workforce, there will always be some employees who are friendlier than others and, even with excellent employees, anyone might have an off-day and be less than cheery, or not as happy to be at work as on other days. But of all the cities I've ever lived in, this police force, in general, has the most positive, proactive presence in the community and my family has only had positive interactions with the officers. read more

Used to be community minded with support for families and respect for difficult situations but after a recent encounter with them, I guarantee none of our family will ever trust an officer again. Not only do they not understand de-escalation techniques, they have zero ideas about how to help young adults who need mental help with suicide! Time in Jail versus crisis counseling at a hospital simply isn't acceptable. We should be training these public servants better - they need compassion schooling, mental health education and de-escalation guidelines in place. Redmond Police came to my house and said that my light in my bedroom was disturbing my white neighbor who is a white woman complaining about a light in my house. Yep...this is legal in Washington the cops can show up at your house and nearly bang down your door for a light on in your own house. The officer claimed that he has to answer any report made. Nothing but good things to say about the Redmond police officers. They are professional, through, and friendly. I've had some issues with theft in my apartment building over the last few months and each time they are called they have taken the time to listen. The non emergency dispatch people are also very helpful. They drive cool cars, wear bad @&$ uniforms and I feel a little safer knowing I live here. read more

I suppose one of richest world corporation and the wealthy and the booming part of city of Redmond must be located outside of Redmond district area. what we wrote today to Redmond District Court in regard with a citation ticket that wife never committed the infraction caused that the accident. Your Honor Judge Lisa Paglisotti I hereby attaching a check in the amount of $150.00 for a traffic citation that I never committed and for the accident that occurred on 7/05/2018 as a result of A Tesla reckless high speed driver attempt to Run a yellow light to red and or he was not even paying attention to the road and the traffic signal while entering the intersection with a speed of more than 70 Miles per hours while the speed limit sign posted just few hundreds feet before the intersection is only 45 mile per hours while I was accused by just a looking around independent driver witness that I was speeding and running red light and the Tesla was travelling at full throttle speed and as she never claimed she had green light during her testimony except providing a statement to officer at the scene and filed a witness report on the night and or day after of the accident on line and your honor and your court having heard all the witness testimony and subsequently your honor and the prosecutor decided that I recklessly caused the accident and not only that but also as parents we were accused of coaching our kids and contacting the other kid inside my vehicle how to testify (wouldn't any parents talk to their kids about what they saw that happen) and also your assumption that I may have mistaken the left turn green light at that intersection for my green light for which if that was the case I would have crashed with oncoming cars from straight opposite my traveling direction rather than the Tesla moving to my right side from SR/202 and he would have had red light anyway. I just wanted to point out after what I have suffered with permanently broken arm and severely damaged skin and loss of part of my arm muscles that I have to live with it for the rest of life and not only suffered physically but also emotionally with the insults of being accused of not obeying the traffic light device that the city Redmond was not willing to re-investigate the actual causes of the accident after having heard us at the city Redmond police dept. and how there was not even a proper accident report by traffic control officers and or even the officers attending accident scene actual facts of collision and not even the speed of Tesla driver even mentioned how fast it was moving and after all having protested the citation what we got an additional insult of accusation of coaching our kids and how I could have even coached my kids with pool of blood inside my rolled over vehicle with so much concerns that if my loving kids and other friend kid were just okay and I was trying to get their attention away from witnessing pool of blood and my potential loss of arm as they were witnessing a very upsetting incident for first time in their life. However; the kids have suffered emotionally and will never forget being hit and spinning and trapped inside the upside down vehicle and luckily there was no fatality from this tragic accident that I was accused of running red light and other wise the Tesla driver would have been walking free with this court decision and the persistent of the prosecutor based on testimony of an independent witness only and ignoring all other facts and even accusing the kids and parents lie to the court and we did not come to this court to make a mockery out of a US district court system as our intentions was to provide you with all the facts of unfair citation and the accident as result of a reckless driver and or the traffic control malfunction at that intersection and that at later date a retainer wall was removed that was located just to my right side of the corner of 187th and SR/202 as I was waiting behind the red light and it was so visible. At the end as we have appealed the decision of this court on the traffic citation matter and waiting for superior court of Seattle hearing date and having brought up such a motion and expression of what and how we have felt after all. we hope that the flaws of city Redmond police Dept. and the district court system of Redmond may also be improved so that no such injustices to occur again and be repeated as it can be so devastating on people and the citizens who put their faith and trust in the law enforcement and the judiciary court system. read more

I visit the Seattle area about 10 times a year. Traffic is a problem in Redmond, but also the entire Seattle area. Be aware that if you look at your phone while at a red light it is a $124 ticket. I can understand not looking at your phone while driving, but while stopped? The interaction with the officer was straight forward. "Do you know why I pulled you over?" This is typical officer question to illicit a confession no matter what the officer saw or didn't see. The officer gave a terse reminder that looking at your phone can not be tolerated while at a red light and is illegal. Then handed me my ticket, and asked, "Do you understand?" Be aware of motorcycle officers with nothing better to do, lurking around on a corner to monitor if you look at your phone at a red light. Where were these police when my rental car was broken into last year and my iPad and computer stolen? Not walking around to ward off vandals, I assure you. Officers don't walk a beat where I live either. All the Washington drivers I have encountered are very considerate so I guess there isn't enough revenue from regular traffic citations. I guess picking up a dropped French fry at a red light should be illegal as well. And all this is in a state where smoking weed is legal. read more

Officer Barns was not very polite. She was put off by the fact she was dealing with a complaint about garbage. When I suggested I wanted to record our conversation she went to her car and started a phone call stating "I am allowed to do that!" Don't call them looking for the "serve" part. Not sure on the protect side but pretty clear asking for service is out of line! read more

Good people. I've met a few off-duty officers from Redmond, and all were real nice guys.

If there is nothing that you can do about a filed issue, then that's fine, but at least listen, don't interrupt, and show respect for people that you call. read more

Not a fan of them since they nag and nip pick about petty things, such as signaling and stop sign. The officer didn't even ask for reason for stopping me and went straight to license and registration. Very rude. Facts are facts but all things have circumstances, and the officers had poor judgement by ignoring circumstances. read more

I've had a very bad experience with a traffic Redmond officer. I happened to be waiting to turn left on one of the main streets of Redmond for a traffic light to turn green. As soon as it turned green, a pedestrian started to cross the road, so I had to stop for him to finish crossing, although he was crossing on red lights. I did finish my left turn on green light. Then a policeman came after me and told me with a nasty tone of voice that I almost hit the guy who was crossing the road as well as didn't wait for him to get to the crosswalk. I know for sure that I waited for him to cross till he was at the crosswalk, so I didn't almost hit him. I didn't know what he was talking about. I didn't want to argue with an officer for I was very shocked and scared at the time. I went to court to fight this ticket, but I had an uncooperative judge who took the police's side and didn't even bother to hear my side. I wanted to tell her that the pedestrian was at fault in crossing at the red, but she didn't even want to listen to my explanation. I didn't think I was treated fairly. It turned out that it was a scam operation done by three policemen. One was crossing the road, the other was watching me and the third was behind me tailing me on a motorcycle. And to top it all of, the policeman had lied as to where the location of the incident had happened. He put on the ticket a different intersection in which there is no stop light. So, I was very upset and disappointed with the police officers who are supposed to be protecting us and be honest. But they were the opposite. Shame on them, instead of having three policemen wasting their time watching me and trying to slap me with a measly ticket, they should go after criminals who are roaming around the city doing all kinds of crimes. I am not giving the policemen any stars, but I have to give them one. read more
