I found Surf Blessons at a local beach event, and he totally seemed like a good guy. I soon followed him on social media, where I was intrigue and entertained- sometimes laughing at his posts. He's very animated and very knowledgeable of the ocean's movements. I was a little bit uneasy at first. I have always wanted to learn how to surf, but didn't feel too cool about being unable to head into the water to learn. Kawika brushed it all aside, and made me feel like a duckling as he led me into the waves. Before long, I was just like a baby duck, happily splashing and learning to ride the waves safely to the shore. My body is asymmetrical, so my balance isn't like a normal person's. With his long time of experiences, he was able to tailor me accordingly to my astonishment. I've had multiple lessons with this fellow now, and I've learned something new each time we go out into the ocean. Which is perfect, because the conditions change almost always.

He can be difficult and temperamental but she's been incredibly kind and patient with him. He loves her and her class and the fact that he keeps going back every Saturday for an 1.5 hrs away from his video games is testament to this place. Everyone I've spoken to there has been super nice and helpful, even if we'd had to reschedule a class at the last minute. I must note that my son did not love his first teacher and class, like I said, he can be difficult, but the director was incredibly patient and considerate and after listening to our feedback, switched him to a different class and teacher, which was much better suited for him and he's been loving it ever since. This is just to say, even if the first class doesn't work, you might give it another chance and try a different one. Highly recommend this place!

My son started at the Coder School at the beginning of February, and he has been loving it…read more Before his first lesson, I reached out to ask some questions and I was immediately impressed by the manager's (Randy's) compassionate, validating, and collaborative response. My son got to try out a class with Coach Roy (who was wonderful!) to see if it was a good fit for him, and now he takes lessons weekly with Coach Justice (equally fantastic!). The whole staff is warm and friendly, and they accommodate to each child's needs. Coach Justice provides great structure and challenge for my son, while also allowing him the agency to be creative in what he's learning and working on. My son is engaged and focused the whole hour, and is really proud to show us at home the progress he's made each week. FYI, if this applies to you: they are vendored through Harbor Regional for self determination for social rec. Highly recommend!
