I received a very vague report third hand from this company. It had no telephone number, email address, website or most importantly license number. It does not describe who collected samples or the method they were obtained. It does not state the weather conditions and if the front slider was left open during the inspections. It does not state the contents of the room. It does not state if any mold was visible or staining or any indication of water damage. It does not state that the type of mold associated with water damage was not present. The company Redwood referred to for the remediation work was unprofessional to the point of interrupting me repeatedly when I asked for the report they promised in 48 hours and asked what their approach would be since there was no sign of damage or mold. I called another outfit that stated the counts were likely due to contents stored in the home for 25 years and the home being shuttered and not lived in for months. They suggested all soft goods and furnishings be removed so they can perform wipe down, heppa vaccuum and scrubbers as compared to the ripping walls with no damage open as Redwood's person suggested. read more

Five stars for this man's time. I am a tenant. About 6 weeks after moving in I could not understand why I had been feeling lousy (plus taking many Covid tests). Then I found mold in the kitchen, under a loose floorboard. The landlord (basically) told me to spray vinegar on it and keep a fan on it, and then something about brushing it with baking soda. I requested a mold inspection. Two days later the landlord tried to pass off a contractor as mold inspector. When I realized this I reminded her of my ongoing symptoms and asked again for a legitimate mold inspection to which she absolutely refused (she is aware that there was water damage before I moved in). So I said I would set one up and pay for it. Enter Jeff. He responded with a quote and then asked me to share what was going on... I filled him in on the details and he was thoroughly honest with me about the situation. Rather than go ahead and schedule the inspection, he explained in much detail, what mold remediation entails and that it would be a much larger job than what the landlord told me (just a few days) indicating that she is not likely to pay for actual mold remediation. He even suggested that I "get out" (more than once). I am VERY grateful for Jeff's knowledge and experience, along with his time, honesty and advice. What a gem. Five starts plus! My college-age daughter had another company perform a mold test in an attempt to figure out why she felt worse physically whenever she was home. They produced a report and recommended about $2,000 worth of "DIY" product. Something about that hit my antennae wrong, so I sought input from NextDoor. Someone (thank you, Dana Dworin!) recommended Jeff at Redwood Environmental Services. He came the next day, ran about half an hour of tests, and I had a report in a couple of days. The mold in our house was NOT serious enough to require remediation, though he did recommend a number of other things (dehumidifier, air purifier, and oh honey get those carpets cleaned), none of which he sells himself. If we hadn't worked with Jeff we would have wasted money on unneeded product, instead of investing quite a bit less on things that will actually help. And his covid precautions were impeccable. I called on Jeff to come examine black mold under our sink counter. He didn't think testing it was necessary as it is contained and limited. This was a nice change for a consultant to recommend less! Instead, he wrote up a protocol for any contractor we hire to remove our stone so that removal and replacement in this small area will be safe for us and our home.
