My family and I came out here…read morefor a job contract, first time living in a trailer, had no idea what to expect from our new adventure and home. This park has been such an incredible time for us! We have a spot near the little playground, which has kids playing at it pretty much everyday (my toddler's favorite spot to meet new friends). All the families we've met here have been super friendly, with many coming back year after year. The manager has been so sweet too, making sure things are working out for us and we're enjoying our stay here; she even took us on a nearby hike to look at all the beautiful redwoods! When we got here, the back meadow was overgrown, the river view was fairly blocked by bushes, and the laundry room only had one washer. But in our 2 months we've been here, the staff have been working at tidying things up and have made pretty good progress with it. At this point, they're back to a full 2 washer/2 dryer laundry room, you can see the river pretty well, and the back meadow has been mowed down and become our favorite spot to bring our kiddo with her bike! The only downside is the bathrooms, but that's just because I never went camping as a kid and as soon as I saw a spider in there I convinced myself it was going to come crawl all over me. In reality, it's just an older bathroom in a campground. Plenty of showers and toilet stalls, and most importantly infinite hot water (I'm still adjusting to the 7 minutes of hot water in the trailer). Other than that, they have a little convenience store which is perfect when you don't want to make a trip into town for groceries. We have our own internet, but the few times it's gone out we've been able to use the park's as a backup without issue. No cell service, but that seems to be the case all throughout the redwood forest.

Site #10 costs more than the other tent sites (maybe because…read moreit's not right in top of other tents like the others), but it's in the middle of the common area field and next to dog park with no screen whatsoever. Not worth the extra $$$ for it. This could be made so much better by adding some trees as a break around the dog park and to give this site some shade. There was nowhere to seek shade at this site whatsoever so if you wanted to just chill in the afternoon you had to bake in the sun. Also map leads you to believe you can see the river and you cannot from this site. The common deck overlooking the river with a fire pit in the middle is really nice. Also could use some shade to be used during mid-day hours. Saw some seals frolicking in the water while sitting there and that was really cool! Also tons of birds registered on my bird ID app (including osprey and night heron) so they are happy in the area. Bathrooms are dirty and aged. As mentioned by other reviewers the stall doors are very short and offer little privacy. Signs request drying off in the stall to prevent standing water but it's hard to prevent the water getting out. It's not far off the main 101 at all so you do hear road noise until it slows later in the evening. It's a reasonable distance from Crescent City and right in the middle of national park visitor centers. Short drive to beach areas. While I was there people were friendly but not intrusive, things were fine. Things could be improved but it wasn't a bad spot for the location/price.

My family and I have been camping for forever now, and this has to be one of our favorite…read morecampsites! We stayed for three nights. The location is superb, so close to Trees of Mystery, the Klamath Tour Thru Tree, and just a short drive away from Crescent City. The bathrooms and showers were SO clean and not horrendously outdated like some camp sites. They also had amazingly hot water, which was an extremely pleasant surprise as we were unprepared for how chilly it would be up here. We stayed at camp site A13, right next to the bathroom, with an amazing view and no smell issues. There was plenty of room for our two cars and three tents (one large and two small ones). We didn't really check out the other amenities, but it looked like they had a field where you could play sports and they had free equipment rentals in the shop. Their store is another stand out feature! Some places charge a premium, knowing that their guests have no choice but to pay, yet they had reasonable prices for all of their items. They also pretty much had everything you could ask for in there. We bought their tree and bear mini lego set for $16 and saw it the next day at a different store for $21! Minus one star because their dryer didn't work too well, so we ended up with super damp clothes despite trying to dry it three times :(

The grounds are super clean and when you arrive it just feels relaxing....quiet and peaceful and it seems like the people that camp here all want the same thing...a nice, peaceful vacation away from everything. And we love it! We have 2 kids 11, 17 and it is something they look forward to and talk about so much. My 11 year old asked to come here for his birthday and we are currently celebrating with this view! Short distance from all the classic trails and the beach. I highly recommend this campground perfect for those adventurers needing a place to rest their heads on a whim at the spur of the moment. That's how I discovered Grassy Flat Campground. I was driving along my cross country summer road trip and needed a place to crash for the evening. As usual and during so many times along my travels, I opened up the app on my phone called CAMPENDIUM! I also recommend to all those campers and tourists out there who appreciate sleeping among the great outdoors, definitely download Campendium. It's free to use and as long as you have cell phone reception...it'll always list the available campsites within any area in the United States. Campendium was my saving grace from my road trip!! Grassy Flat Campground was so convenient. When I arrived here over the summer, it was basically first come, first served. You don't need reservations. It was about 4pm in the afternoon when I found one of the last remaining campsites still unoccupied. Wow...I was grateful for this because along this area of Highway 199 and around the Redwood Forest section...I found accommodations to be few and far between. Lol, basically, I was grateful I wasn't crashing in my car for the night. And for me...I had just visited Crater Lake and was making my way south from Oregon. Grassy Flat was situated just outside the Hiouchi Visitor Center (about 14 miles away) great for starting my Redwood Parks itinerary. In terms of location, Grassy Flat Campground was ideal! Being just off the road of Highway 199 and not far away from the major town of Crescent City...it felt comforting knowing I was nearby a place to get gas, food and supplies continuing along my trip. Now to describe Grassy Flat Campground...it was scenic...right in the heart of the forest and woods! I felt like I was breathing in nothing but fresh air enjoying nature at it's finest! When pulling into my campsite...it had a fire-pit for barbecuing and a picnic table set beside random trees. I sincerely appreciated relaxing and taking in the authentic camping surroundings. It's simple $10 fee to camp for the night. You have to pay immediately upon choosing a campsite. You can pay by check if you don't have the exact amount of $10. Then just drop it into the safe/drop box. There wasn't a Camp Host on the grounds, but I guess they go by the honor system. They do offer portable toilets. Although the porter potties weren't the cleanest...they were certainly sufficient enough to make it through the night, lol. My one and only deterrent about this Grassy Flat Campground (and it's a small one) was that I didn't have cell phone reception...to sort of play on my phone and entertain myself. But it was still perfectly fine not using my phone as I easily sat back in my lounge chair and enjoyed being in the woods. Ya know, it's times like these when you go back to the basics, that I truly appreciated the simple things in life. So...not having cell phone reception was a blessing in disguise...a chance for me to reset my engine and put into perspective that I was about to witness some of the tallest trees in the world! Overall, I can't recommend Grassy Flat Campground enough. It's a perfect spot to rest for the night, especially for those getting ready to start their Redwood Forest journeys (assuming they're coming from the north and headed south, lol).

Good safe place to walk around perimeter road inside park. My T-Mobile home wi-fi (which I actually travel with) works with "Very Good" signal and I stream HD movies regularly without interruptions. There is a gas station and convenience store adjacent. Across the street there is an excellent Cafe for breakfast and lunch (closes at 2:30). It is next to Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park with Smith River Recreation area on the other side.

Next time, I would choose a site farther back in the campground for a quieter experience. The campground amenities were clean and well-maintained. They offer showers, restrooms, tv hookups, and a small on-site store stocked with basic necessities. They also sell firewood, which was very convenient. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely consider returning, especially if we could snag a site a bit deeper in the park.

I truly cannot say anything negative about this place as it really made our Redwoods trip much more memorable with how cozy the Requa Inn is. I was sad to leave. We were looking for a place to stay during our trip to the Redwood National Park and had planned to drive all along the coast, so needed a base for a few days. We found The Historic Requa Inn in Klamath, which seemed to be a good location as it was central to everywhere we wanted to go, which was key. But I didn't expect it to be as outstanding as it was. We arrived to the hotel before the concierge left, just in time, too, as the hotel doors lock at 8pm. We had no idea until we arrived and were told this helpful information, along with everything else. Since we got into town late, we didn't realize that everything in town was closed for dinner. The kind staff saw us trying to find a place to grab dinner, so he offered us his sandwich. Way too kind of him! Of course we politely declined and ended up eating snacks on our first night, but that just shows you how kind the staff are here. We had breakfast here the following morning, which was delicious. Even locals come here to this hotel restaurant for breakfast, so it's not just guests. The food is very tasty, hearty and is freshly made. I never ate anything here that I wouldn't get again. It was a great way to start our long day of hiking and adventures. Because the hotel was built in 1914, it's historic and charming. All of the hotel rooms are uniquely decorated, so no room is the same. It had antique furniture and decore. The lobby area and bedrooms do not have a TV, encouraging guests to enjoy the simple and classic, as they have puzzles, board games, and books in the lobby area for guests to use. I loved that. I especially loved reading out on the deck, looking out to the river and road. They also offer free coffee, tea and hot cocoa for guests and put out in the middle of the day port that you can pour yourself a glass of and freshly baked cookies. PLUS, since we visited during the Independence Day holiday weekend, the hotel offered guests a complimentary BBQ meal on July 4th! And it was not just standard burgers and hot dogs, they made grilled chicken with different salads, sides and fresh fruit. It was a great way to connect with other hotel guests over this shared, celebratory meal. Our bedroom was very comfortable. It had everything we needed, with wifi, a fan, night light in the bathroom, handmade soaps, a complimentary bottle of wine, tons of blankets, etc. Even though the room didn't have AC, we had no trouble cooling down with the fan and open windows that had fresh air coming through. I also loved that the hotel was in the town of Klamath, with no traffic noise or city lights, so the nights were quiet and peaceful. We really did not want to leave this wonderful hotel. So glad I was able to stay here and learn about the area. I would happily stay here again.

Even though there was some rain ( always expected done rain lol) we had so much fun exploring and showing my girlfriend all my special spots. Then had this cozy place to come back to to sleep. It's very romantic. The people who run it are so kind and helpful. Tge beds are so comfortable, we were plotting hw to get the bed out the window and tie it to my car lol. You also need to have at least one of your meals at the restaurant. Amazing food and wine. Requa is a special place in the heart of Yurok Territory.
