We really enjoyed our stay at Rambling Redwoods Campground. One of the biggest highlights was its convenient location and easy access to all the nearby attractions. It made a great home base for exploring the area. We stayed in Site 66. While the site itself was nice, it was a little closer to Highway 101 than I would have preferred. Next time, I would choose a site farther back in the campground for a quieter experience. The campground amenities were clean and well-maintained. They offer showers, restrooms, tv hookups, and a small on-site store stocked with basic necessities. They also sell firewood, which was very convenient. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely consider returning, especially if we could snag a site a bit deeper in the park. read more

Amazing place to camp! Celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary with family attending from neighboring states. Staff worked hard to accommodate several different sites from tents to class A rigs, keeping us all close together. Staff was super friendly and made my family feel welcome. Ramblin' Redwoods is a five star RV and camping spot. We have been visiting there for seven years. The campsites are beautiful and spacious with many tucked away among amazing Redwood trees. We sold our RV and this time we stayed in a cabin. It was terrific! It had everything we needed and more. The kitchen was stocked with dishes, glasses, flatware, cooking utensils, pots and pans, microwave, stove, full sized refrigerator, coffee pot, and more. The bathroom was great, and towels and all linens for the beds were provided. And I can't forget the TVs and fireplace. The loft was so cool! Outside there was a grill, fire pit, and porch surrounded by Redwoods. We were in heaven. The managers were awesome, friendly, and so helpful. We totally appreciated them. We would give Ramblin' Redwoods 10 stars if we could! read more

This is a beautiful, peaceful campground. We booked in advance and stayed a week. No issues with our travel trailer. Park is quiet and well kept. Bathrooms are outdated but clean, same with laundry room. Camp sites are well spaced, enough privacy. Campground is very well maintained, check in was quick and smooth. Close enough to explore all that Crescent City has to offer. Would recommend this campground and would return. Roughly $65/night with full hook ups. No complaints and had a beautiful time. read more

Ramblin Redwoods is a beautiful campground, it's everything we want when we go camping It's located outside Crescent City in the middle of a beautiful old redwood forest. There is tons of shade with nice sized sites. The groundskeeper Tim I believe his name was kept the grounds clean and was working his butt off the whole time we were there. We had no problems with water or power, they have firewood on site for a fee, or drive into crescent City and buy it at a store. Only issue was we had 2 bikes stolen from our site (not the campgrounds fault, I didn't lock them up) so DEFINITELY lock your bikes at night. Staff took a report and let me know 2 or 3 families had bikes stolen that night. That bummed us out, but definitely love the campground, will come back again with bike locks. read more

We found this RV park on google, what a great little park. Nestled inside a redwood grove, minutes from crescent city and the "Grove of Titans" this spot offers beautiful views and spacious sites. The staff was welcoming and offered a variety of sites to see and great places to eat. They are in the process of redoing their septic system so if in an RV that may be an issue, but at least they are keeping up the park. The facilities are a bit dated but clean. Recommend to anyone in crescent city area to stay here. read more

Bathrooms are not open. Port a potty had toilet paper the first time we used it, none the next. We packed up camp and headed to the KOA for working bathrooms. They would not refund our money for the 2 nights we decided not to stay there. They were not nice about it either! DO NOT STAY UNTIL YOU CAN CONFIRM THE BATHROOMS WORK! They have had problems, tried to fix it, failed, and rumor had it that it would not be repaired this summer. If you have reservations, cancel before check in, and you may be able to get some money back. We lost money. read more

Campsite was clean. Bathrooms were clean. Loved hearing and seeing kids playing on the playground. WARNING!!! You need to know that the camp is by Pelican Bay Prison which is considered one of the most dangerous prisons in the country. It is supposed to be escape proof, but in July of this year, a prisoner did in fact escape. Not knowing any of the above info, we stayed there Sept.12th. We woke up Saturday morning at 7:00am to the prison siren blaring. It scared me to death. After we packed up and left I researched Pelican Bay Prison. Had I known what we now know about the prison, we never would have stayed there. Never could find out why the siren was activated. Terrifying for me and that was BEFORE I knew what Pelican Bay Prison is! read more

Great spot! Recently discovered it after being unable to reserve a spot at Jedediah Smith. I camp with a rooftop tent and site 27 was situated perfectly, as other tent sites may have been too narrow or too close to the neighbors. All sites seem close together, but everyone I met was friendly, and that's what sharing the outdoors is all about! Common area was nice and well maintained. Bathroom facilities were old, but clean & showers were hot! Would recommend an area to do dishes, but other than that, this place had all I needed for a few nights to knock out some amazing redwood hikes! Will return! read more

We pulled in late, grabbed our packet with the RV site number only to discover that it was in use. We were traveling with our family and had paid $20.00 to ensure we were next to each other. We ended up finding a site next to our family and set up. The next day Diane, the manager told us we would need to move because the site was reserved. When we asked why our original site was taken, she said they decided to give it to an employee. As a result, we were not able to be next to our family. We asked to move to different sites so we could be next to each other and she told us all the sites were full. This was not the case, there were plenty of available sites the entire time we were there. Before arriving, we noticed on our bank statement that we were overcharged a night. I called to settle before our arrival, they had no idea how to help, and called back telling us the accounting was correct. I called and left a message for them to call me back and they never did. When attempting to take care of their accounting error, Diane became very rude and dismissive. When we talked to Lance the general manager, he acknowledged that there was probably a mistake with their accounting and that we would need to show him the charges on our bank statement. When we went back to settle up, they weren't available. We called Lance again to rectify their accounting mistake and he told us we were wrong. As a result, they refused to refund the extra night charged. We were told by an employee to be sure to lock up everything because the local tweekers come into the park to steal. This has been a very stressful interaction with Ramblin Redwood. Save yourself the stress and stay somewhere else. read more

Nice, peaceful campground in the woods. It's surrounded by beautiful trees. There's a small, secluded trail in the middle of the campground, perfect for an after-dinner stroll, or short walk with kids. We stayed here for about a week and enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. It's about 20 minutes from the Oregon border, and close to tons of trails and hikes. Bathrooms are clean. Laundry facilities on-site. There's a big playground, but when we went in July, it was taped off, because COVID. Now that CDC and other studies have been released show spread through surface contact isn't high risk issue, hopefully they've opened it back up. Kids need their playgrounds. read more

We had traveled 8hrs to this area knowing that we would be spending the most of our days hiking in the Redwoods. As a family of 7 (2 parents, 2 teenagers and 3 ten and under) we wanted to not only tent camp, but do a hybrid approach with the cabin as well. I will break this review up by sections: Staff - Freindly, helpful and welcoming. I even had to make a change and they were patient and friendly the entire time. 5 stars for them Tent area - plenty of trees and initially looks like a good area. It all depends which actual campsite. The one we were assigned was small and the placement of the fire pit was right in the walk way. Fire pit was in a bad location and could only fit 2 chairs around. Tent areas are right next to each other.. so if busy.. you are up in everybody's mix - 2 stars Cabin - worked great for what we were doing. Enough to sleep 5 inside for a great price. Water was hot, toilet worked well and plenty of electrical outlets. Cons - wasn't terribly dirty, but found a lot of hair. We brought our own sleeping bags, so didn't use the cabins linen.. so it was all good. The light switches were weirdly placed all throughout the cabin.. just made it annoying to figure out which went where - 3 stars Campsite - everyone was friendly, nobody was overly loud. Had a big area in the center that allowed for the kids to run around, play on the playground which is in great shape. A nice open grassy field for football and other activities. Horse shoe pit in good shape also. You can tell that there are folks that are there long term... but no issues or concerns presented themself whatsoever... Bathrooms and showers were clean and kept up well. I really appreciated that, even though we had a cabin with a bathroom, it was just as easy to use the campsite bathroom. I liked that there was a code for going in and out and they kept it heated at night. 4 stars for the experience and cleanliness Overall, it worked out well for us and we would go back of in the area and wanted to do another "hybrid" camping trip. I would recommend this place as we enjoyed our time there. If you don't like where your fire pit is, there is a few community fire pits spread throughout the area which worked as a great alternative. read more

If you are tent camping / backpacking / bike touring, do not camp here. They do not cater towards these things. *the bathrooms are covered in mold and smell crazy bad *there are overhead lights on throughout the campground that stay on all night (sleeping in a tent, this made for a terrible night's sleep) *the place is overly pricey for what it offers. $70 for one night in a tent? *the campsites are extremely close together *the Wi-fi doesn't work anywhere except near the main office *the firewood was double the price you could get it anywhere else *a man in the bathroom was masturbating / watching pornography audibly (outside of their control as a campground, but it contributed to a terrible experience) *poor communication from staff (I have been contacting them repeatedly about my experience with no follow up. Once I did receive a follow up, I was told I am getting refunded for my experience, but a refund never came) It's a bummer to write these things about a small business, but they have no right to charge these rates and offer this kind of experience for tent campers. Go elsewhere and hit a CA State Park where the sites and amenities are much nicer / cleaner. And support our parks instead! read more

Never wrote a negative review in all my RV travels. This is the first. This park is nice enough, lots of trees and a good location. Upon checking in was warned by the lady in the office not to drive fast or on the grass (she obviously knows the issues they have). Never do either anyways. We are given a 30' site for our 45' bus. As we are looking for the site we notice a guy watering down the gravel in front of his site. Guessing to reduce dust. He yells at us for kicking up dust as we drive by. Figured he was just some jerk camper. He's actually the security and grass guy. Went back to the office and the nice lady gave us a more suitable site. They don't have but maybe 3-4 sites that will accommodate a large rig. Getting around is quite challenging for something this big. We only stay at the park for 2 nights. We pack up early before 8:00 am to get on the road. My wife is sitting in our tow vehicle (by herself) when the security guy comes up to her and starts yelling at her. He's saying we don't know park edict, have driven in his grass and are speeding through his park. Says we are black listed and get the f&@! out of his park. We are leaving as he's saying this. When I get out of the bus to connect the tow vehicle, I see my wife is very upset. She tells me what he said to her. I run back into the park to go to the office and complain. The guy sees me running and comes right at me with his truck and slams on his brakes and starts yelling at me like he wants to fight me. The office is locked and he laughs at me and again is berating us as unfit campers. I say I will mention all this in a review and he's says "I'll just refute it". Unbelievable. We are leaving and the guy is yelling FU don't come back. I'm yelling back at this point. I haven't wanted to punch someone since JR High. He was close. Now I'm walking back to my bus and he is driving along next to me in reverse and continues the verbal assaults. I believe this park just changed ownership. I'm guessing he's a hold over. No matter what the situation, I don't believe the owners of the park would condone his rude behavior. There are many choices in this area. I would stay away from this park until the owners fix the issue with their security guy. read more

This place was great four our girls trip of four. We each had our own area to sleep in.

My wife and I stayed for a few days recently in one of their cabins and very much enjoyed the stay. The bed was very comfortable, we both slept well, and the cabin is outfitted with everything you could possibly want, TVs, DVD players, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and everything was extremely clean, and there were plenty of clean towels for the entire stay. Whoever does the cleaning and set up does an excellent job, very professional. The management and staff there are very professional and nice. We are planning on another stay there when we visit Crescent City in the fall. read more

We booked a whole week here to use as a launching point to explore the Redwoods. This park has potential, but unfortunately there is much work needed. Many of the spots are not private enough and much of their septic system is down. If we weren't going to have full hook-ups we would have stayed at the more scenic Jedidiah Smith. We booked months in advance and were not told about the septic issues. I highly recommend anyone looking to book here double check that indeed the septic is back up and that their site is appropriately private. Ask to look at the map and the sight number. read more

CAMPERS BEWARE!!! There is no campsite security and access is not controlled. We camped here in June 2024 and had our coolers (packed with food) stolen from our RV. The campground is directly off the 101 and the unfettered access invites theives. Response from management was poor. Do not be fooled by "security camera" signs... the only actual cameras are at the front office. I have been camping for 40 years and have never had such a poor experience. read more

I'm an ex-employee, and I feel the need to let everyone know what their getting into by staying at this park. First of all, they claim to cater to big rig RV's, but 90% of the park is inaccessible to anything over 24ft. Their electrical hookups are run down and barely work. Most sites wont work if you have a surge protector, but will short if you don't use one. On top of that, their "50-amp" sites only deliver 30-amp power, but have a 50-amp outlet. If you have an issue with your sites electric while you're there, they'll act like they didn't know it existed and offer a 10% refund (as it's policy to do this until the electric company can come out to fix the issue). Same goes for just about any issue with the cabins, going as far as to blame guests for broken things. Pests (mostly mice and rats) are an ongoing problem in the cabins as well. They do not notify guests of the issue before hand, they also allow the cabins to be rented with the knowledge of this issue. They actually have front desk/housekeeping go in the cabins a few minutes before check-in to clean up the droppings. None of the furniture has been replaced in this century, including the mattresses. And yes, rat droppings are regularly found on the bedding, and no, the bedding is not changed if this happens. During the summer they charge $200+ for those cabins, and honestly they're disgusting. These shady business practices chalked up to the bad management (which never failed to make me and other former employees uncomfortable, something we discussed regularly), and their corporate property management team. All in all, not worth the money at all. The Village Camper Inn and Redwoods Meadows RV Resort are much better parks in the area. read more

We stayed here during Covid. Some sites are tiny and others are much larger (I'm not sure if you pay more for the bigger sites or not). The bathrooms were kept clean during our stay. Nice little walk behind site 21, which had some big redwoods to look at. We would stay here again. read more

We were definitely bummed out when we arrived. This place looked nothing like the pictures. It was run down, and dirty. The permanent campers they have here were dirty, with garbage just laying around. The trail they have here has a decrepit old bridge with rotten beams in it. Which felt like it would collapse at any time. The store closed at 4 which was weird. Store had a.craooy selection of product's. And looked like a teenagers room when you walked in. Garbage on the floor product littered around and very dirty. Our site sucked, when we walked out our rv door we were greeted with another camps slide out at our picnic table. read more

One of the best campgrounds we've stayed at! We almost ended up at the local city RV Park in Crecent City, it with the wind howling and daylight left, we headed north just a few miles where we found this little gem tucked away in the Redwoods and barely a breeze. The office closes at 4pm, but that wasn't an issue as prices are clearly posted along with available sites. Unlike 95% of other campgrounds, Redwoods RV Resort does not ding you for having more than 2 people in your party and the rates are very reasonable for full hookups. While the showers are dated like almost all campgrounds, it was nice they have instant hot water systems so you never get a cold shower. Their is a nice playground and plenty of games left out after hours for family enjoyment like our game of croquet. Friendly staff and a place we'd stay again without a doubt. read more

I don't even know what to say. I'm so disappointed, not because the park was dirty or anything(showers were hot, bathrooms clean, and everyone who worked there was very nice.) I am disappointed because WE GOT ROBBED and they have security there with 24 hour surveillance... My boyfriend took me here for my birthday, we live in our RV and use a motorcycle to get around everywhere! We rely on that motorcycle so much, and Monday the 31st late night they had some people come into the park and cause a scene, I guess the cops came and everything. But during that time someone came to our campsite while we were sleeping and STOLE our motorcycle. We currently have no jobs and can't even afford a new one. We came here to treat ourselves and now we have to deal with this. I wish I would have read the reviews on this place because it seems that they have ALOT OF THEFT HERE. If only someone could have warned us. I am so upset and I would never wish this upon anyone, IF YOU STAY HERE LOCK UP YOUR VALUABLES :( read more

Incredible! This place has it all. We camped here in a travel trailer. Found they were top rated in the area on a RV review site and decided to stay here. We stayed here for two nights but wished we had stayed here a week. The sites are private as RV sites go. You back into your own little grove of redwood trees and you are set. The sites are incredible and you are camping below giant redwood trees. How can it get any better? They offer all the amenities and then some. We had full hookups with cable and wifi that actually worked great with a strong signal. There were activities on site, a playground and horseshoe pit and a dog washing station. There was a very small store on site with some basic supplies and activity information. Never checked out the showers or laundry room. On the north side of the park (I think it was behind site 21) there was a series of trails that went back to some huge old growth redwoods that had fallen. We had a great time exploring there, but watch out for poison ivy. It's close enough to town that it is a quick drive. You are right in the middle of everywhere you want to be in the area. We did the Trees of Mystery, Stout Grove in Jedediah Smith Park, the Battery Point Lighthouse and visited the upper left corner of the state. It's rare to find a RV park with the level of privacy that the sites offered. Truly one of the top 5 places I have ever RV'd. Side note, they also have cabins for rent if you want that instead. read more

(Which I did excuse due to COVID-19) There is a stench of sewer in the air which might be due to overloaded dumping. There is no wood available for purchase. The sites are not private because I believe the new owners may have added extra spaces. Disappointed to say the least. Paid as much as the KOA charges. read more

This is a nice rv park! Unfortunately- the area is NOT. We went to dinner in crescent city and I was very nervous based on the town conditions and unkept people and vehicles around. We realized on the way back from dinner that the rv resort is across the street from pelican bay- California's highest security prison, housing violent life sentence criminals. There was also a siren that goes off in a nearby city to alert volunteer firefighters of emergencies. It's very loud and alarming. The grounds are beautiful, awesome playground, great hosts.... but I really disliked the area and wouldn't stop again. read more

The site next to us has way too many people for its size so they are right on top of us and LOUD. They are so close that their teens keep walking through our camp site. Trying to do laundry and the dryers do not work, cannot hang up any lines to dry out now we have wet clothes. They sell firewood that is wet and will not burn so no campfire to get warm or attempt to dry anything. They were out of toilet paper in the women's bathroom. Beyond frustrated and really wish we had another option for lodging tonight. The office closes early (6:30pm on a Friday night) so no one to address these issues with. Would not recommend this campground unfortunately. read more

Really nice family friendly park and camping. They have fun lawn games and a playground for kids, walking trails and a creek in the back. The trails are great for dogs, lots of good sniffing in the woods:) The Wi-Fi connection is fast and we never had any problems with connection. Verizon cell works. Not to far from town for grabbing food and shops. Clean and warm bathrooms which we all know is lovely, (special thanks to the hard working staff)! Definitely lived up to our expectations. Quiet park, in the redwood forest, with very friendly staff. We brought two kids with us and they had a great time at the playground, using the free sports/game equipment and exploring "treehouses" they found all over. They made friends with other kids and I wasn't nervous letting them explore as the park was fairly empty and our central location helped keep them in sight. My favorite part? The clean and WARM bathroom and showers! Seriously! On demand water heaters right outside the bathroom doors must be plumbed to radiant floor heating. Nothing like stepping out of a shower onto clean warm concrete floors. And the staff even helped me out! We forgot an important piece of paper at home and the staff was more than happy to print it out for me. It really is the little touches that make this a great park read more

This park is deteriorating! More and more full timers living in this park with some very old and bad condition trailers. The Wi-Fi and cable does not exist! They admit this issue yet do nothing to rectify it, yet they continue to raise the nightly fees with absolutely no improvement to the park. Bathrooms are not clean, showers are very small and not cleaned. Since the Ramblin redwoods bought THE REDWOODS RV a couple years back their rates have doubled since then with no improvements. We stayed there Oct 2nd and 3rd. We were traveling south with 2 other couples and we had meticulously picked out the the 3 adjoining sites we wanted. We reserved and paid for the sites well in advance and received confirmation. We were notified by email the day before arrival that it was time to "check-in" which I did without checking the site number. When we arrived, we realized that they had changed our site number and there was another camper in our site. They put across the campground in an inferior site and split up our party This WAS UNACCEPTIBLE and a deal breaker. The campground was not full and there was absolutely NO reason for it. Employees couldn't explain why, only that "the computer" does it and there's nothing they can do about it. Not unless you pay the extra $18.00 when you make your reservation. We will never go back and will warn all of our RV friends to stay away! read more
