I was warned to stay away from Reed, and I wish I had listened. My son came in for an exam, and the doctor stated his prescription had changed only slightly. Two weeks later, we went to get new glasses, and the person fitting him just put the glasses on, and that was it. My son told him he had trouble with the right eye, and he dismissed it; said give it some time, and then come back if you still have trouble. We did, and was told that there was an issue with the right eye, to make yet another appointment. Come on, how many appointments does this place want you to make? In addition, he was misinformed regarding the new glasses as you could NOT adjust them as they did not fit his face properly. Well, we are going to America's Best to get this straightened out because there is no way we will ever return to Reed. I would definitely stay away.............really wish I had. read more

I recently had a frustrating experience with this eye doctor's office. After months of waiting for my appointment, I received a call canceling it because the doctor would be in late. To make matters worse, I was told the next available appointment would be three months later--in February! When I asked about seeing any other doctor, I was met with the same disappointing response: the earliest I could be seen was still three months out. It's clear that when business is thriving, a few patients falling by the wayside is not a concern for them. I felt more like a number than a valued patient. You'd think a practice with (6) multiple locations would have the ability and desire to accommodate patients. I will definitely be looking for a new eye doctor who prioritizes their patients' needs. read more

Have gone here for many years and always get excellent service. The eye exam is thorough and Dr. Ellemeyer always spends enough time with me to explain tests and results. The office staff is friendly and efficient. The frames and glasses are expensive but you get what you pay for. Had additional frames/lenses made at Americas Best and the difference in the quality is amazing. Reeds is the best! read more

I've come here for YEARS I'm talking 10 years plus but since they got with RGH the service has been TERRIBLE!! The Doctors are fine all of the staff at the desk and over the phone are EXTREMELY rude! I was supposed to get a refund for contacts on December 4th. For whatever reason they took over TEN days to process it. It was processed on December 13th. The woman from billing was EXTREMELY RUDE and tried to talk over me on the phone. I asked to speak to a manager she REFUSED and I went off! If I don't have my refund in the next few days I will be going right back up there and waiting until I get proof of the refund. Since she refused to let me speak to a manager to complain I will leave it here for EVERYONE to see. I think it's time I find a new place for me and my son's eye exams! I'm OVER IT! read more

I have always loved Reed but after being a loyal patient for over 30 years my family and I have decided to part ways and take my business elsewhere. Loved Dr.Evens and we will miss him. I noticed that I had missed a call from Reed but they did not leave a message so I checked my calendar and noticed my son a had an appointment coming up so I figured they were just calling to confirm it. I had remembered that my last appointment had been canceled 6 months prior due to Dr. Evens being out for medical leave. So I decided to call to just to make sure he still had an appointment being I had missed there call. I literally called 30 minutes prior to confirm my son's appointment. I feel that they took advantage of my 18 son by telling him that his Dr. is not in and that they are overbooked and short staffed so they need to reschedule his appointment. Thanks a lot Reed for the huge inconvenience. This caused my son to miss time from school and hours at work since he called off for this appointment. Not to mention that this was his first time going by himself since he started driving. I called to complain and ask what happened. All they could say was sorry with no explanation except Dr Evens may not be coming back. I told them that I will be leaving and needing my family's charts. She said ok I can look into how to send those to you. The woman on the phone was professionally polite about the situation but had no clue how this happened and just said sorry we will be loosing you from our practice. I know sometimes appointments get messed up but I would have not been so upset if I had not just called the office 30 minutes prior to my son's appointment and told we will see you at 3pm. This is very poor customer service. Wait that's right, good customer service does not exist anymore. read more

I just want to look at some frames. I have spent a lot of money on frames over the years at Reeds. I called 3 times to get an appointment. My call was returned, unfortunately I missed it. I called back 3 more times and no one has returned my call. I guess at this point I would like to get my prescription and go to Costco to get a new frame. I was there in the past and received excellent service. I'll just return to someone who will appreciate my business. read more

This is a good place to get your glasses if you need them. The Dr. and optical shop are in the same place which is very convenient. They have a good selection of frames. They are very helpful at helping you figure out what you insurance covers, which is great. The price range is about medium. And best of all they don't push you to buy all the fancy upgrades. Ok so I needed a new eye doctor becuase I moved from Charlotte NC to Rochester. My contact prescription expired and I need more contacts so I made a appointment. Liitterly hated this appointment, they don't have the retina picture machine so the eye doctor had to dialate my eyes and they started to hurt/burn,. I never experience anything like that before. I came from a different (better) doctor and the doctor at reeds just check the prescription I had and wrote me a new one, tested me for glass too but that only took 5 min, my old guy used to take 1 hour finding the best prescription for me, but I guess some places just don't have the time for that Seriously if you go here only go bc you need to get in quick for a prescription and not because you think this will be your long term doctor. I've been going here for the past several years with no problem. Recently I went for my yearly eye exam and the girl who took me back made a snark comment about me being late (I was literally 3 minutes late) and then I stood at the counter for several minutes before someone came up to me. The girl at the counter when i was checking out was a bit rude about me insisting i still have insurance benifits left ( (I felt like she was annoyed she had to look into it, and it wasn't until soomeone else stepped in that it was figured out that I in fact did have Insurance benefits still) read more

I have been a customer of this facility for several years for both contact lenses and glasses. Doctor Chu is as professional and competent as they come. He is very thorough, friendly and answers all the questions that one may have. His prescriptions and eye exams are as perfect as possible. I always recommend him to my friends. During the last two visits, the persons who take you to the exam room and take the preliminary information lack the skills to work in this environment. They limit themselves to ask yes/no questions and come across as if they are suffering because you are there and interfering with their personal schedules. I had an eye exam then I ordered a pair of glasses. At the fitting I found the lenses were not right and could not see correctly through them. They told me they would be keeping my deposit of approximately $250, and would not apply it to the correct lenses with the correct prescription. I lost my 250. They refused to do anything. read more

Went with my cousin who was looking for a second opinion with some problems she was having with her eyes and contacts. They set her up an appointment with their John T C Chu, OD, FAAO. He didn't seem very intelligent to myself or my cousin. Maybe because of his bedside manner and poor people skills. He never gave her any concrete answers or solutions to her problem. He just kept telling her to go back to her original eye doctor. Very surprised Reed Eye Associates would hire him. Wouldn't recommend seeing him. read more

I was sorely disappointed about the doctors at this location. If I could give lower than 1 star I would have! I came in here with my mother and the doctor (Dr. S) that handled our case was unbelievably rude. My mother speaks little to no English so I was present as the translator but that gives no reason to discriminate. He never explained any tests fully and when we tried to ask any questions they were never answered properly. It's pretty important to be able to know what changes were happening in the back of the eye. After when we tried to reach the owner of the business he never responded after an in-office visit as well as countless phone calls. I will never come back here and all my friends and family are forewarned about this company. I will take my business elsewhere. read more
