He is an excellent surgeon! The women who work with him are wonderful! I got to meet Maggie, Beth, Laura, Denise, Angie, Kim, as well as Deb and Monique at the front desk. Thanks to you all for your kindness and care! Most businesses these days are more concerned about the bottom line than the people that come to them for help. Not here! They all genuinely care about improving people's lives through helping them see the best they can. I am humbled by what you did for me and so grateful! When my glasses came in. I could not see out of them at all. It was very blurry they rescheduled me for another eye exam and the doctor was very put out .Then she came back with the same prescription. She said my only other option was surgery. So I went and got a different eye exam without letting that doctor know about my bad experience his prescription was different and when I ordered new glasses and picked them up, I was able to see great ,a lot better than my old prescription. would never return to or recommend this Optometrist.

My vision has been 20/15 my whole life and is now 20/30, a very significant difference for me. She said it so many times that I wondered if I was wrong to want glasses. We discussed that my prescription need was a bifocal due to a stigmatism I did not know I had. I was concerned about having to look down to read, so I opted to try two different pairs, one for reading, one for distance. I asked if I could change my mind later if it wasn't working out, she said absolutely. The person helping me try on glasses after my appointment said the same, more than once ***but they did not tell me I only had 30 days***. So now my pupils are dilated and it's hard to see what I am trying on, which left me wondering why I was not offered to try on frames BEFORE the exam since I was clear I was there for my first pair of glasses?? (Always state that you want to try on frames first!! Live and learn.) My insurance only covers glasses if I buy the same day as the exam, so I had no choice. Again, live and learn. The process of getting pricing on the frames, which is nowhere to be found, was ridiculous. I sat there as she typed I don't know what, for way too long, before I am told that the two frames I chose were more than $200 each, after my insurance!! I asked where the cheaper frames were, they said they didn't know, that they had to look up pricing one at a time! By then it had been so long I did not have time to choose other frames or patience for another 20 minutes to get a price on each frame, so I just paid it. I called later to say the distance ones were making me dizzy. They redid the exam, redid the glasses, same problem. By the way; the doc was NOT patient during the second exam and I felt awful, but could not throw away $500+ dollars I had spent. I apologized several times, she was not gracious. Roughly 45 days later I say; let's try the progressive lenses since the distance ones are still making me dizzy. They said no, I had to notify them within 30 days. I stated I was not told that. I asked them to talk to the manager. Manager said no. Now I have decent reading glasses and very pretty distance glasses that I cannot wear. I just went to Empire Vision and had a lovely experience where they tested my eyes and lenses and said the prescription was too strong. I just spent $200 for replacement lenses so my pretty frames don't go to waste. I will go back there for new frames when my insurance will cover another pair which is next year. I noticed the prices on their shelves are clearly marked, which was a huge relief. I will never go to Whelpley Paul again and I would advise against anyone else going there. These were multiple preventable problems. One more thing; the first pair I picked up were wrong and did not have transition lens treatment. They made sure the second pair was treated, but it wasn't nearly dark enough, so I couldn't wear them for driving even if I got past the dizziness, which I never did. I waited a full year for my insurance to cover a new exam so I could get a new prescription and pay even more money to be able to use the lenses I bought last year. Such a shame.

After finding this out and having to make another appointment for the future, because I am now really late for work, I am looked at like I am crazy for being upset and on to the next person - sorry, sucks to be you. After a…read morelong hiatus from wearing glasses (apparently your eyes can improves in your 20s and 30s), I felt the need to go back and get a bit of an updated pair of glasses. They are currently in a new location in the same plaza than they were the last time I was there... which they reported was about 6 years ago. And they purge paper files after 7 years... so I probably hadn't been there in 8 years. I had a 7am appointment, and despite arriving on time, I was in the office for nearly 1hr 10min. To me this seemed a bit long, and I wasn't thrilled with that (especially since I was the first person of the day.) But Dr. Brown was fine as a provider. The opticians that I worked with on both occasions (pick out and picking up the glasses) were pleasant and knowledgeable. I have a decent vision plan, so I lucked out with some nice Anne Klein and Bebe frames. There is definitely nothing wrong with this, but I am a little nostalgic from the days of Dr. Baskin. I didn't feel treated like a long time valuable patient/customer, but I suppose that is partly because I am not those things to this place anymore. And thinking of the future, I might consider finding another office closer to where I live now.

I have Dr. Brown now and absolutely adore her. When I needed to switch contact brands, she worked with me over the course of several weeks (and many samples) to get me exactly the right pair. Last fall, I caught a cold that manifested itself in extremely red, painfully itchy eyes. I called, thinking I had pink eye, and they got me right in. The doctor explained the problem and told me not to wear contacts for a week. Not good -- I cannot wear glasses because they give me vertigo, and I was going to Detroit to see my sister's play that weekend. The doctor paused, explained why my glasses gave me vertigo, and then found a 10-pack of daily use contacts. He told me to only wear them for a few hours when absolutely necessary. I honestly do not know what I would have done without the wonderful folks at Chili Vision! Even though I live in the city now, I will always make the 20 minute trek to stay with this wonderful team.
