They ran out of prayer cards. They said it was because people were taking two or three. 3. They didn't know how to operate the TV in order to scroll thru pictures. Had to make another trip over there to meet with their IT guy on the phone. 4. No water furnished.

A week before the funeral I had surgery on my left knee and didn't think I could perform the Pallbearer duties but because my brother-in-law had asked 10 guys, 8 of them were to carry the casket while me and another gentleman were to walk behind the casket. Perfect After the calling hours, the Pallbearer's gathered and took their places and all went fine carrying the casket to the hearse. When we got to the church, the Lamiel Funeral Home director didn't wait for all of the Pallbearer's to get to the hearse and I ended up on the side of the casket carrying it. I made it into the church but was frustrated that the funeral director seemed to be in a huge hurry. When we got to the cemetary, again, the funeral director was rushing everything and didn't wait for the Pallbearers to gather and directed the other gentleman that supposed to walk with me behind the casket was directed to get on the side and help carry. This put only 3 guys on each side instead of 4 and most of these men were teenagers (Grandsons). I was told to help carry the casket from the back. Now, I have never seen a Pallbearer carry from the front or back so I thought it was strange but not wanting to make waves at a funeral (irony), I took my position. I grabbed with both hands so the only thing I could see was the 4" by 4" spot right between my own two feet. There was no path so we were walking thought uneven grass and Headstones!! We made it to the grave sight. The funeral director told the other guys to walk the casket forward, knowing that I couldn,t see anything and I ended up WALKING RIGHT INTO THE GRAVE!!!. The casket rammed into my shin and tore all the skin off the front of my shin. I was trapped and no one could move because everyone was in shock. Finally, my nephew pulled me up and out. This was the single most embarrassing moment of my 63 year old life, and to this day, Lamiel Funeral Home and it's illustrious director have never said a word to me. After it happened, the director, who seemed to still be in a big damn hurry, admonished everyone telling them to return their attention back to the gravesite!! They have never checked on me via phone, text, or letter. There was definitely no apology to me or my Sister, whose husband's funeral was ruined. No call to ask how I was. Had to go to the restaurant afterwards with my whole left pant leg covered in blood, and what stopped me from falling all the way down in the grave was that the casket on my kneecap, which had just been operated on the week prior!! My wife and I were in the process of setting up our funeral with Lamiel but have since decided to go elsewhere.

Kathy treated us like family and went above and beyond to help our family grieve after our son passed. I think Kathy cried more than I did. In the style of our son, they graciously let us order the casket from Amazon and provided us with discounts to pick up my son's body from The Cleveland Clinic, worked with the coroner's office and took care of even the most minute details to take burden off of my wife and I. Kathy went to school with my wife's mother and knew my mother from a past employer. She really made the entire process bearable and effortless. I will forever be grateful tobKathy and the entire Heitger staff for everything they did for us.

Funeral homes can be so different I've learned, some charging for EVERY little thing, pay for having chairs at the viewing, or severely overcharging for the flowers on top of the casket. Adam Mason Funeral home did not do that. Scott Mason is the person that took care of the whole funeral was wonderful. I was able to text him at nearly midnight when I thought of a question. He answered immediately with a response. The correct response. The preparation of my loved one was also outstanding. He looked like he was sleeping, cleaned up perfectly and so at peace. A memory that will stay with me forever, not the one at the hospital. They also worked with us wanting to bring my loved ones pet. No problem. We were also allowed to leave some notes in the casket with him, an issue that other funeral homes had. I have to say there is nothing negative at all about this funeral home, it's staff, or location. Go with a funeral home that is local, doesn't have corporate offices, those are the ones where you become a number. Again, I will highly recommend this funeral home to anyone who is in need because you're treated like family.

He was a dark complected caucasian from working outside most of his life. Also, he always wore a pencil mustache his entire life. Schermesser was given a recent photograph and father's favorite suite. Private family viewing for a few hours one day and general viewing for a longer time the next were the arrangements. We were shocked to find father with a bright pink complexion(picture a lady's powder blush compact) of a new born babe and clean shaven for the 1st time in his adult life. As shocking as that was, on the day of general viewing, before transportation to the cemetery we had to pick several beetles off dad's body and were plagued with flies swarming around the casket for the entire viewing. When we complained we were told insects come in with the flowers and there is nothing that can be done about them. I'm getting old, but I have never seen Pepto Bismo Pink used for make-up, and bugs never joined in the ceremonies.
