Left drivers license behind, so I used my NYS pistol permit, arguably one of the most legitimate forms of government-issued photo ID. I am mid 30s and visibly far beyond legal drinking age and the two rude women behind the counter scoffed at me and denied the sale with glee. At one point I said "I'm 35" and the younger of the two sarcastically replied "I know, I can see that from your pistol permit." Seeing as there is no legitimate legal reason not to honor a pistol permit as a government issued photo ID, I feel discriminated against a pistol permit holder and I will never shop here again. Discrimination by an employee based on political bias is inexcusable. I drove directly across the street and was kindly waited on at Aurora liquors - highly recommend. My girlfriend and I (ages 24 and 25) were visiting from Atlanta and went into Reeds to pick up a few liquors, mixes and champagne. At the counter, my girlfriend handed over her Georgia issued ID which the woman behind the counter tried scanning. She then handed it back, claiming it was "not valid" as if it was fake, then continued on to say that we were not allowed to buy anything, all the while, in front of a line of other customers behind us. We were very confused by this because they were definitely our real, VALID, state issued driver's licenses... She then refused to allow our other friend (age 23) with a "valid" New York ID to buy our items for us and told us we needed to leave as if we were underaged children making a scene. She was not only rude and unhelpful in the situation but also made us leave feeling completely patronized when simply being polite about turning us away would have perfectly sufficed. We went to Aurora Liquor afterward who were much friendlier and accommodating to paying customers. We visit family frequently in East Aurora but will never buy from Reeds again, nor will family. read more

Just left there. Why do I come here? Three women behind the counter busy on their phone, no one asking if I needed help. Literally buying a lot for Christmas parties, and no customer service. Boxed up my purchase and just left on the counter. Premier walks your purchase to the car. Here..they could not even hold the door open for me. Reed's Wines and Liquors has been locally owned for nearly 70 years... that kind of longevity doesn't come out of nowhere. This store is the place to go in East Aurora for all your wine and liquor needs. Conveniently located at the traffic circle at the went end of Main Street, there is ample parking at the store or in the adjacent village parking lot behind the building. They have a stable selection of everyone's favorites, and a rotating selection of new and exciting choices. Their liquor selection is amazing, and they are very helpful with party planning and other large purchases. As a resident of East Aurora I try to support other local wine businesses, too, but when I'm shopping with a purpose and know what I want, Reed's is the place I go. read more

Every time I go here the older women who work here are nasty and cold. I asked them about this rare cider I really loved and wanted to get, but the only place in WNY is a Winery that's only open 3 days a week. Reed's employee's response was it's not in our catalog. No shit! I'm asking you to special order it because I know it's not in your catalog, can you get it anyway? Needless to say, I found some place else that can get it and with people who are actually respectful to their customers. In my experience, by far, the most unpleasant small business to shop at within the friendly small town vibe that is East Aurora, NY. The staff is almost invariably unfriendly, to the point of sullen when you step up to the counter, and rarely do you get even a greeting and/or thanks for shopping here.On the other hand the folks at Aurora Liquor, the other liquor store in EA, are exponentially more friendly and helpful, you feel like a legitimately welcome customer, and their prices are better as a bonus. read more
