After recently moving from San Diego to Asheville I found my dog struggling and found it was a collapsed trachea and to take him home for palliative care. I found out on a Thursday and was told to take him home and provide steroids and painkillers. I was in shock, and didn't know what to do. His quality of life was my main concern. Both my daughter and I arrived individually at the same site based on reviews and meeting our need to let Sluggo go in a loving comfortable way for him. That Sunday morning, Dr cat came over, and told us exactly what would happen. She gave him treats to help him feel good, and then a shot that takes 15 minutes to really relax and help my baby sleep, but still could hear me. I was able to look into his soulful eyes before he went to sleep and honor him for all that he gave me, comforted me and his amazing friendship and thanked him for his abundance of love. She placed an IV after he was sleeping and snoring in true pug fashion. I spoke to him and told him it was ok to leave, thanked him from the bottom of my heart and said goodbye. I nodded to Dr. Cat to administer the final shot and shortly after, my baby was gone. He left peacefully under a big beautiful maple tree on a lovely October day with the birds chirping. I will never forget the care Dr. Cat gave my best friend. She was soft spoken, caring and compassionate. She put his paw into a clay form for me, and I will always have him and his ashes with me. Highly recommend this for any pet owner. So peaceful for our loving friends and companions, and made a hard day a blessing of peace and thankfulness. Forever in my heart my Bubbadoo Thank you Dr. Cat for your calm and peaceful presence you brought, your gentle heart for letting us take our time, and your compassion for my baby and for us. I really appreciate all that you do and the care that you gave us.

She provided some good recommendations too. We got burgers and they were all great, but special shout out to the vegetarian patty which my wife got blackened. It was one of the best vegetarian patties she's had. Hand cut fries were terrific, and we eve. Saved some room for the white and dark chocolate mousse cake, another great dessert. Inside the restaurant had a casual vibe with a full bar in the back. Not too many tables/booths, so it feels very cute inside

Just a nice little place to go in and get some food, while dressing casually. The food is fairly expensive and I must say just basic in terms of flavor. I started with an appetizer brussels sprouts. The seasoning on the brussels sprouts was very nice. The portion was good, however, I left 3 to 4 brussels sprouts as they were undercooked and just too hard to eat. I personally don't like to pay for something I'm not able to eat. I tried a Caesar salad, as my entrée. The dressing was just okay. The lettuce was a bit tough. I did not finish the salad I have to say I was not thrilled. My waitress told me they seem to be known more for their burgers so if I ever decide to give this a second try, I think I'll stick with the burger.

We also ordered a side of pancakes. The chicken and waffles were a great balance of sweet and savory. The chicken was delicious. The waffles were also good, though I tend to prefer a little more of a light, slightly crips waffle. These were a bit softer. My husband said the steak and eggs were okay. Not much to say about it. We also got a small side plate of pancakes which actually felt like a TON for the price we paid for them. I can't imaging what the regular sized plate looked like. The mascarpone and sweet topping on them gave them a bit more character than basic pancakes. I would visit this place again and maybe try the shrimp and grits next time.

The staff is friendly and they always take good care of us. I ordered the Market Street Breakfast with Toast, Scrambled Eggs (with cheese), Bacon, and Potatoes. Listen...those were the BEST scrambled eggs I've ever had!!! My husband ordered the pancakes with bacon and they brought out four large pancakes that honestly could have fed my family of four. Unfortunately he took it upon himself to eat them by himself...but the pancakes won!! There was so much food he barely made it through half of them. I love the open kitchen, the decor, atmosphere and ambiance of Benne's. My only complaint is that they don't have more gluten free options (Bread, pancakes, potatoes). My options are limited because of my food allergies so I wish there were a couple more options on the menu but hopefully they will work on that in the near future. (I would have LOVED to try the avocado toast...but no GF bread) Still I was happy with my choice. We will definitely be back!!
