We have been going to Shear and Shine for over 3 years-since we moved to Asheville. Annah is the most talented groomer I have ever met. She grooms my 15 year old Shorky, Molly with the upmost love and care. I also take Miss Jingles, my rag doll cat in for a groom about 4 times a year. She looks like she just stepped out of the cat fashion runway when Annah completes her groom. And our sweet Chloe has since passed ( the Havana brown cat ) but she too was groomed beautifully. Best groomer in Asheville area! If you aren't near here these ladies are so sweet and good with your dog it is worth your drive!! There are certain jobs in this world you should only do unless you absolutely love it, grooming pets is one of these jobs; I feel these ladies genuinely love their job and clients because they were so kind, sweet, and welcoming. I've had such a time finding a groomer in Asheville, others are rough casing injuries to my most laid back dog and just simply don't like my younger dog thus being short and impatient with her. I consulted Brother Wolf on who they could recommend and they flat out said they had no one they could suggest. After being unable to put off grooming any longer I took the very apprehensive leap and booked with Shear and Shine. I am SO pleased to report they were so understanding and fantastic and concerned about my pets!! I could tell immediately my dogs were scared and hesitant at first knowing they were at a groomer and when I picked them up they were not anxious to leave and gloomy like others they felt good in this heat and felt good emotionally having had a nice experience. This is the first place I've ever taking my dog to in Asheville and this will probably be the only place I'll take him. I have a sweet Morkie and he was very matted on the ears and tail and I told them I wanted a cute puppy cut. They delivered! I was very happy with the outcome. No harsh perfumes to mask a wash job not well done. You will no doubt be pleased with the services your dog receives here. 3 years ago Ana took in my special needs dog at the last minute to bathe etc. Did a great job and even let my wobbly guy meet and greet roaming the shop. So grateful for all they did. SO DISAPPOINTED! First time trying this place and was excited based on the reviews. I have an Old English Sheepdog and she has some mats which she always gets between grooming. When I arrived the groomer and I looked at my dogs hair together and they'd have no problem. She said it would be up to 3 hours and they'd call me when she was done. 3.5 hours later I get a call. They told me she just got done drying and had not even started her brush out. They continued to tell me that her mats were too bad and it would be an extra 3 hours and $300 to brush her out! I lived in LA for 12 years and never once was my grooming bill near this number. Totally insane. I believe this place purposely does this to prey on people that they think they can take advantage of once your dog is already dropped off and had a bath. I came and picked her up (still had to pay for a bath and nail clipping - note her dew claws weren't trimmed at all) and brushed her out myself at home. Also a note that my dog was DYING of thirst when she came back from there. They definitely didn't offer her water and if they had kept her for another 3 hours (6.5 hours total) I can't even imagine how dehydrated my dog would have been. If you're looking for a good honest groomer that cares about your dogs well being, go elsewhere. read more

Highly recommend this groomer. I stopped in this week with my aging bassett who typically is scared to have her nails trimmed. The groomer was gentle in approaching her and then did a fantastic clip of her nails, even drummeling them down close to the quick, as requested. It was only $10. Such a deal. I often just defer to vet techs to do this but they are often timid and unexperienced so the nails hardly get trimmed, my dog is freaked out and they charge way more. As one of the other ratings stated, we too had been going to Waggers since our Charlie was a pup. They were unwilling to work us in after a family emergency called us out of town. We chose Shear n Shine. Charlie is now a senior dog with arthritis. They take special care of Charlie, letting her rest off her feet for a while during the grooming process, cut exactly as we wish. Charlie has a mullet at the end of her stub tail, which we have kept since a puppy. They give this mullet special attention and take care not to disturb it or cut it in any way. Best cut ever!! We are visiting Asheville and our min golden doodle needed a cut/groom. We selected SnS because of all the doodle/poodle reviews, and were not disappointed. Anna listened well and selected a 5/8 inch cut. We were a bit late for pick up -- too long on a hike -- but found a happy puppy with his best cut ever.
