Working with KHP and her all-star team is not just a professional photography session but an experience that allows you to feel good about yourself and have that self shine in a way that feels completely authentic to you. I've had the pleasure of working with Olympia twice now -- once when I needed professionally styled headshots quite quickly for an upcoming feature/publication and once for a lifestyle shoot. To say that their product is top notch is an understatement -- no detail goes unthought of...from styling, hair and makeup, lighting, vision...and it all comes together with this fun, carefree, beautiful experience, working in their studio (and having fun as well) that makes this team worth every penny. They make it feel effortless. A few months back, I logged into a Zoom call and noticed that my awesome headshots from that session didn't really look like me at all anymore. In this post-Covid lockdown world, as we might be tip-toeing slowly and carefully back to the world of in-person meetings and conferences, using an old headshot felt like a little bit of "bait and switch!" Let's face it, hair is longer, skin is still fabulous, but...I'm OLDER. Still awesome, still sassy, but I needed an update. This time I worked with the fabulous Olympia Roll (and again, why on earth would you make this investment without the professional makeup add-on specifically for the photographer?) who "got me" from the first minute. One thing I especially love is the super light touch on touchups and post-processing. These pictures look like me, not an air-brushed, over-filtered, a little too pose-y overly contrived version of me. Now I need to either write a book or run for office (or both! ha!) because she gave me photos that make me look and feel like a BOSS. Thank you!

She was great to work with in so many ways - flexible in scheduling, open to our location ideas, straightforward about her pricing and what her packages included, always punctual - but best of all was how comfortable she made me and my husband feel in front of the camera. My husband is a very, very handsome man (I swear I'm only a little bit biased), but he did not know how to take a good photograph. Until Nicole came along, every photo I had of him his eyes were closed, or crossed, or his mouth was hanging open; he was just generally awkward in front of the camera. Nicole immediately put him at ease. Right from the start she had him cracking up laughing, relaxed and happy, and that definitely shows in our photos. That shoot was when we knew we had found the perfect person to work with. Most other vendors had a list of locations they shot at, and we wanted to do ours at the "til death do us part" mural downtown, and then at a carnival. Other photographers were incredibly hesitant - especially about shooting at night, at a carnival - but Nicole was game right away. She did an amazing job shooting us in a difficult situation, and her photos look great: beautiful, colorful, glowy carnival lights; romantic shots on the carousel and ferris wheel; even some really tough shots of us in the hall of mirrors! When it came time for my bridal portraits I was totally comfortable shooting with Nicole, but not quite comfortable with myself. Like 99% of brides, I was losing weight for the wedding, and wasn't where I wanted to be. I was so nervous that the photos would turn out terribly, that I would hate the way I looked and then start hating my dress and dreading the big day, but I shouldn't have been. Nicole was a great coach, talking me through poses, telling me to tilt my head this way, turn to the light that way, complimenting me, and just making me feel really confident. My bridal portraits turned out absolutely gorgeous. The day of our wedding, Nicole was a joy to have her around. Her enthusiasm was culpable, and she was friendly, upbeat, and sweet. Her photos of me getting ready are amazing - these were not shots that were important to me, but are now some of my favorites. She got great photos of my guests milling around before the ceremony, including some real stunners of my young nephews (the ring bearers). During the ceremony she somehow faded into the background while still getting great angles of me and my husband holding hands, exchanging rings and vows, laughing with each other and our wedding parties, and our friends and family surrounding us with love and warmth. After the ceremony she was a great marshall, getting those who needed to be in photos in and those who needed to get out of photos out - just one more thing that requires a huge amount of tact and delicacy that Nicole handled beautifully! She never misses a detail, down to our menus and guestbook at the reception, beautiful shots of my husband and I cutting the cake together, our guests laughing and talking, and makes everyone looks gorgeous. Her editing is superb, and her prices for prints, books, and DVDs are better than I've found by far. I really just can't say enough great things about Nicole. We can't wait for our next shoot with her - Christmas photos with our doggies. We've found a photographer for life!

I know I'm just adding to the pile of positive remarks about Nicole's work & manner, but it's worth…read morenoting. It's the least I could do for what she has given me. Not only is Nicole incredibly skilled with her camera and use of natural and ambient lighting (even on a sort of gray, finicky day like ours was), but she's really gifted with working with cats (and I'm sure dogs, too). We did some of the portraits inside at home, and some outside in the garden near our house. Our cat, Cleo is seldom impressed by conventional toys or noisemakers but Nicole seemed to know exactly how to get him to look interested and cooperate - plus her magical cat toys must've had kitty crack on them -- Cleo loved them way better than anything we've ever gotten him. Also, it's worth saying that Nicole's method was very relaxed and flexible. She never forced Cleo into doing this or that - she let Cleo sort of lead the way, resulting in zero tension despite the unusual circumstances (from Cleo's perspective). Cleo is notoriously un-photogenic, given that he has black fur and always seems to hate it when I point my phone or camera at him. This is one of the reasons I felt it worth it to hire a pro. Cleo is almost 14 years old as I write this review - he's still really active and fun, but he's not getting any younger. I'm so glad I finally bit the bullet and hired Nicole for Cleo's pet portrait. It was worth every cent and she was such a pleasure to work with. I really like her personality and style, and especially the beautiful photos I ended up with. I am ever grateful for her service.
