I feel like I have typed out and then deleted what I have written here about 10X because properly conveying how incredible this group is at what they do is probably impossible. Working with KHP and her all-star team is not just a professional photography session but an experience that allows you to feel good about yourself and have that self shine in a way that feels completely authentic to you. I've had the pleasure of working with Olympia twice now -- once when I needed professionally styled headshots quite quickly for an upcoming feature/publication and once for a lifestyle shoot. To say that their product is top notch is an understatement -- no detail goes unthought of...from styling, hair and makeup, lighting, vision...and it all comes together with this fun, carefree, beautiful experience, working in their studio (and having fun as well) that makes this team worth every penny. Korey did my headshot update back in 2018 and I was thrilled with the results (see previous review.) A few months back, I logged into a Zoom call and noticed that my awesome headshots from that session didn't really look like me at all anymore. In this post-Covid lockdown world, as we might be tip-toeing slowly and carefully back to the world of in-person meetings and conferences, using an old headshot felt like a little bit of "bait and switch!" Let's face it, hair is longer, skin is still fabulous, but...I'm OLDER. Still awesome, still sassy, but I needed an update. This time I worked with the fabulous Olympia Roll (and again, why on earth would you make this investment without the professional makeup add-on specifically for the photographer?) who "got me" from the first minute. One thing I especially love is the super light touch on touchups and post-processing. These pictures look like me, not an air-brushed, over-filtered, a little too pose-y overly contrived version of me. I have used Korey Howell for headshots three times and they have looked great each time. I splurged and had my makeup done. They did a wonderful job. Time is limited, so I would recommend having your hair ready. I hate having my picture taken. I'm always the one with her eyes closed or I have a weird look on my face. Excellent Product, Responsive, Processional, Fun, Efficient, and Kind - these are the words that come to mind about my experience getting headshots done with Korey. Most important are the pictures, or the product. I was pleased with them, and they are *exactly* what I wanted. (Others have consistently commented on them as well.) Korey was also responsive in an emergency. I had lined up a session with another photographer who went MIA - no communication days before the shoot, and no indication of which location to go to - after definitively scheduling the shoot. Korey took my call (the hallmark of professionalism in the modern business world), and although I didn't insist that she make my timeframe hopes her problem, she made it happen. My experience 2 weeks ago with Korey Howell was nothing short of life-changing. Due to lockdown rules, I had to get make up elsewhere so by the time I arrived I was ready. I have never viewed myself as photogenic but wow, her pics are the best I've ever had! A very efficient process. For the marketing package (4 clothing changes) the process took 75 minutes from entry to exit. I wrote a post on my personal blog over a year ago (no longer online) about how working with her helped me to fall in love with myself again after a bad few years. Best experience I've had! For most of us, "professional photography" conjures up memories of dark Olan Mills sessions with mom tugging at your clothes, brushing off the dirt and spaghetti sauce you somehow managed to smear on at least half of what used to be the best dress you owned. The final product of these torture sessions winds up being grimacing family photos with terror sparkling like a crystal clear lake right below the surface of everyone's eyes. This is not what my photo session was like. I showed up armed to this appointment that had been booked for work. Panic attack earlier in the day? Check. White knuckle driving from downtown to the studio? Check. "Go ahead make my day" written all over my face? Check. Greeted by Olympia, one of the most genuinely friendly, patient and professional gals, I almost cried when she asked "how's your day going?" I didn't. I cried a little inside though. A few tugs at my hair, a few wipes at the tear-smeared eyeliner in the mirror and 90 seconds later I walked out with girded loins ready to do battle. It took her all of 5 minutes to get light checked, me posed, and perhaps 2 dozen photos snapped and we moved on to the review. This lady has battled before...Much to my surprise, it was not shrek that greeted me on the screen, but something that resembled me! Less than 5 minutes later breaking down photos into groups (genius!) there was a photo selected AND edited that looked like a much less tired, emotionally-stable (dare I say "hot") version of ME! My coworkers may not recognize me, but let's just say I'm sure they all got the star-studded treatment to their mug shots as well.... read more

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Korey is amazing at what she does. Her talent allows her to see what works best for her subjects: the kind of lighting, wardrobe, background, and even the smallest details like where your hair is placed. A Groupon led me to her studio near 183 and Anderson Mill for headshots. I'm not a "real" actor, but wanted a current headshot to highlight my 50-pound weight loss so I could apply for extra parts in local films. I just wanted a decent headshot, but walked out with a handful of excellent photos. Korey made me feel at ease, and even like I was a working model on a professional photo shoot. Wow, I cannot believe I haven't written a review yet for Korey! I first met her a few years ago and was told "she's the best in the business". Yeah, yeah, yeah... I've heard it all before. The reality was that I took horrible headshots and if we got one that I didn't look like I was being murdered, I figured I was good. Until, I decided to just go and book an appointment with this "best ever" photographer. I needed a new headshot and, well, why not... Oh. My. Grapes. This woman is freaking awesome. She has a way that makes you feel 100% at ease. I've worked with her several times since then, updating my headshots, etc and she is AMAZING. First, her studio is small. It's not some big scary place where you feel self-conscious even walking into it. You can tell that she genuinely loves what she does. She loves working with people and she loves making you the best that she can. Her big smile and "eh, no big deal" attitude instantly puts you at ease. She's also FAST. I remember the first time, after just a few minutes, she's like "okay, we got something we can work with, let's go" I was kind of like cringing inside thinking "yeah, right". Nope. She really does get it done and get it done quickly. And the photos look AWESOME. Seriously. Honestly, some of the best headshots I've ever seen. She makes it fun and easy and tells you exactly what to do and gets the shots. The best part is after. You walk right on over to her computer area where she pulls up your photos, you choose which you want, she crops them down, edits them and emails them to you. Bang. Done. She's not afraid to say, "I think we can fix the tired eyes" or anything like that, which I totally appreciate. And she's definitely not afraid of photoshop. *laughing* BUT she doesn't edit them to the point that you don't look like yourself. She's also not afraid to play. The standard headshot doesn't have to be stuffy, unless that's what you want and she's not afraid to throw ideas at you. The best part of what she does and where her true talent lies is her ability to capture who you ARE in your photo. I'm not sure how she does this by just meeting you for the first few minutes, but every single person that I've known and then seen a headshot that Korey has done, it's instantly been "Wow, that's totally Jane!" or whatever. It really is her true talent. Honestly, if you're looking for a photographer in Austin, don't bother looking anywhere else. Just call Korey. Korey just finished two half days of shooting a project for one of my company's clients. We had 25 business people who we needed bust shots taken in less than 8 hours. She did an awesome job. She made all of our business experts feel comfortable, helped them select the shot they liked best for use on a web-site, and really insured that everyone looked their best. I needed an updated corporate photo and didn't know where to turn. I saw a photo online of a friend and asked her about her photographer. She told me that Korey could "take off 10 years and ten pounds" with her magic camera. She did that and more. Korey makes the process fun and fast. You pick your two favorite shots and she does minor touch ups while you wait. It took a total of 1 hour from check in to driving away happy.
