Great Barber Shop. Once I found this place no other shop will do. I like the staff and continue to return monthly.

Go here all the time but today had the worst haircut of my like from Francisco. Didn't listen to me, cut front so short I can't comb it over and back so short it sticks straight up. Nothing I can do to fix this unless I want a buzz cut. Very disappointed. He said "oh I thought your part was way over here" when he knew where it was. Was on my way to a date and he put some styling glue in my hair when I do not use any product, and didn't have any in when I went there. Haircut looks like I did it myself. My first time at this shop and won't be returning. Wish I had the same experience as others wrote on here. My 6-year-old son does alright with haircuts. He just gets ticklish and sensitive with his neck area (I imagine other kids do too??) but he still allows them to do their job. This place said they were "kid-friendly" but this was so far from what we experienced. The woman who cut my son's hair had very very VERY little patience with him and made a few insensitive comments... If a shop says they are kid-friendly, I expect each and every one of them to be patient with little ones! And if they're not then we don't mind the wait for someone who is!! To make matters worse, his cut didn't even turn out that well. The only great thing we experienced here was the atmosphere of the shop. Mack is definitely their top guy IMO but David runs a very close second. But really, just about everyone there knows their stuff. Every cut comes with the hot towel, which has sadly fallen out of favor in almost every other place. Men's cuts are $18 and shaves $25. Worth every single cent! And don't be a friggin cheapo and tip 2-3 bucks for a cut. This is 2014, almost 15 people. Five bucks is the minimum tip for a men's cut. No, I don't work there but I'm in for a cut every 4-5 weeks and see too many people hand over a 20 and say keep the change. And don't forget to sign up on the tablet on the counter for a free cut. My boyfriend entered the barber shop and signed in using the sign in tablet. He had a free haircut from having gone to this barber shop before so he entered expecting to use said free haircut voucher. So after his haircut he was told that there was no way for them to know if he actually had used the voucher since there was no one at the front desk. All in all he lost $22 and a free haircut voucher. Seems silly to lose a customer over 20 bucks. read more

Mac has been cutting hair for my husband and two teenage boys for almost 10 years. Each location is exquisite and always clean. Mac and Choman have got to be the best 2 men cutting hair ever. Thrilled we met them and have been to many if their spots depending on the days. Our oldest comes home monthly from college for Mac more then us, haha. Thanks and keep up the good work gentlemen. Used to be a good place, but will never step into this barber shop ever again. Got hair cut, beard trim and shave last couple of times and had a very good experience but today it was horrible!!! My neck is still burning. Only a few good and experienced barbers are working here now, but they don't work everyday and are mostly busy, and the substitutes are very bad. I would not recommend this place to anyone...!!! read more

Disappointing to put it nicely. My son went in for a haircut and came out with a hack job. Left side of hair 3 inches longer than right, side burns cut wait too high. The lady cutting his hair did not listen and he even had a picture of what he wanted! No apologies when he went back to have his hair evened out. Blamed my son for not "telling" her. Been going to various Great Clips and have had various not so great clips! My wife told me to go to a proper barber so I did. Jay was a freaking master hair cutter. I can't believe I'm actually raving about a haircut, but man, he is an absolute artist. I am pretty sure he cut every single hair on my head individually. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but I feel like since we've had 3 bad experiences it warrants letting others know what they might be getting here. First time there, the woman that was going to cut my son's hair argued with us for more than 5 minutes about what she couldn't and could do before finally just having someone else do it. Then we had Stephen who did a great job and actually listened to what my son wanted! The next time my husband took my other son and this same woman butchered his hair (I wouldn't have let her touch his hair had I been the one to take him). This time, we had a different woman who argued before, during, and after the haircut. Since when does costumer service involve arguing with the customer?? I will not be back here! It seems like there a number of male barbers that are great, but these 2 ladies make it pretty awful! Rude and condescending! read more

DONT GO THERE!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! My hair was about one inch long at sides and back and I told the barber to trim about 1/4 inch off to give me a nice executive cut. By the time he completely screwed up my hair including razor burns it was too late. When I came home, my wife laughed at me...including my children. I run a business where I interact with lots of people every week...embarrassing look!!! I used to go to the Alpharetta barber shop for many years. Kia always cut my hair PERFECT but since I live near exit 13 and 400, I decided to try the shop on 141. I had Marco cut my hair for several months and he was a true professional. But then he left to open his shop at Windward. Too bad! I should have been suspicious when they called the "barber" out of the kitchen. He had wine colored pants with wine colored suede shoes with silver tips!?! He had my chair turned towards the wall and I was looking at the coffee cups during the whole time. I bet this guy had NO TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE!!! I probably was his FIRST customer. My wife cuts better hair. She is like a master barber compared to some of your guys! I was looking for a local Barber Shop that I could get a haircut and beard trim in the Cumming, GA area. I made the mistake of going to American Barber Shop or maybe just the wrong barber in the shop. Jamal cut the hell out my neck with the clippers and trimmed my beard way too short. He did not listen to the client and just did what he wanted to do. I told him whatever he was doing hurts like hell and please stop! Jamal said "You'll be OK you have a sensitive skin, It will go away in a hour or two, no worry" I would NOT recommend American Barbershop in Cumming, GA. I took my three boys to this shop today for the first time because quite frankly, I'm sick of them getting "bad" haircuts from the local Great Clips (where I've been taking them for about 6 months now). This place is FANTASTIC. There was no wait, all three of the barbers listened to what I wanted and gave my boys perfect, precision taper fades. That's really hard to do with blonde hair (from what I've been told). These guys were meticulous and really know their stuff. Highly highly highly recommend American Barber Shop. I just happened to see the shop as I was driving by, and I decided to try it out. At first, I was hesitant to pay someone $20 to shave my head (the standard cost of a haircut), but I'm really glad I did. The first thing I noticed when I entered is the sophisticated, yet "manly" atmosphere. Leather chairs in the waiting area kept me comfortable for my very short wait. The woodwork on the walls is impressive. Within two minutes, I was greeted very courteously and led to the back by Mack, who was impeccably dressed, complete with the traditional barber's vest. My haircut started just like any other. The pleasant "surprise" came at the end. Instead of kicking me out of the chair with hair all over my neck, which is what happens at most haircut places, Mack shaved my neck and hairline with a straight blade, removed every bit of hair from my head and neck with a hot towel, and then applied oil/balm to my head and neck. Outstanding! Guys, if you are tired of paying the big chains $15-$20 for an almost decent haircut that leaves you itchy for the rest of the day, try these guys out. They are professional, thorough, and courteous. The $20 plus tip that you will spend is an absolute bargain. read more

The only place I will get my haircut in Cumming. Great place and the staff is knowledgable. I prefer Jamal, but they are all skilled in their own right. What I like about Jamal is he will tell you what he thinks is best for your style of hair in an effort to get the best final result. My haircut was a good experience but it's an easy cut . One all over. They charged 18 bucks for that! But the worst part was that they double charged me. They said my first card was declined so i gave them another it went through. I called the bank and they said i was double charged. Thanks Khaled. They did refund me but still was embarrassing. I spent the last 8 years at great clips and left only because my girl was headed north to be with family, I looked up Barbers on yelp and found the ABS.
