Cars are constantly speeding and running red lights, which make it unsafe when walking with kids. Surprised their isn't a cop posted on this corner as the speeding takes placed directly in front of the fire department. The fact that pedestrians have to wait an additional 10 seconds to make sure there isn't a maniac driver ready to run a red is insane.

The mansion itself has 55 rooms and sits on beautifully designed English-style gardens and terraces. It was designed by famous architect Gordon Kaufmann, who also worked on landmarks like the Hoover Dam. The mansion is free to visit, reservation not needed, and free parking. There is a paid tour inside the mansion on certain day. Some part of the venue will be block off if there is event going on, but you can still walk around it.

There is a fountain in the center with small plaques near the encircling benches that detail some of the history of the area. For parking, I suggest checking out Canon Dr. or Beverly Blvd. There is too much traffic on the Sunset Blvd. side for me to feel comfortable trying to maneuver to find parking. Canon Dr. offers 2 hour street parking that is unmetered and a quick walk across the street. Make sure to add this to your list of future picnic spots.

There's a lot of shaded areas. There's a boat, space ship, tunnel, slides, rolling metal slide, balance beams shaped like balls, and so much more. It's a super inclusive playground with a diverse group of patrons as well. The bad: The parking lot had some cars that looked like people were living out of their car. There was a pee stench at the entrance. Toward the toddler area there was a guy smoking weed. The interesting: It has a LA theme with references to the observatory, freeway and more.

This makes it frustrating when it's crowded, and there are designated lanes for medium-fast swimmers, but they're taken up by slow/beginner swimmers. Had to wait around for 10 minutes until there was space. Needs to be a better of way of controlling/managing the lanes so that different swim levels can swim without the pool being completely overrun by slow swimmers, making it harder for other levels to enjoy the pool space.
