Awful! Just awful! Made the first appointment with the owner for an executive haircut! Showed-up at appropriate time and right outside of the door of Refine encountered lady screaming her lungs out at someone who seemed to be a hairstylist. It was an ass chewing session out in public on the street. Boss screaming at an employee. Totally awful situation! I walked in and told them I am here. The receptionist said the owner will be available shortly. I asked if the lady screaming her lungs out at the hair stylist on the street will be cutting my hair and they said yes. Well is she ok to cut my hair? I don't want super angry person who cannot handle her emotions to cut my hair at the moment of anger...I am having these thoughts for few minutes and realized that I cannot condone this kind of behavior. I told the screaming owner who was still going at it with her employee on the street that this is inappropriate and I will not be her customer. So I left! PS: after posting the review the owner of the business left a comment below indicating they she was not screaming at her employee, and I had no right to place picture on Yelp, and I don't know what was going on! She was screaming at her employee about work related stuff which was clear, and she was red in her face how drastic it was! Her employees gave me permission to take a picture of them for Yelp review at the time when I was hoping to use their service and as an elite Yelper I always ask before taking pictures. Employees also indicated that the owner was unhappy with that particular person but they offered a different stylist which I declined on principle. After my visit to OneMedical, I passed by the salon on my way to the Poke spot. I've been needing a trim and missed my chance in Vegas! The appearance was inviting, and I called in to see if they cut men's long hair, to which they did. I made a walk-in appointment which worked perfectly since a slight 30-minute wait was needed, which gave me time to grab lunch next door. Great sense of pampering and service. Facilities felt clean. Refreshments and changing room are provided. I needed a mint, and they had as well. Cece (hope I spelled right) did a fantastic job with her interactions and helped guide me on my hair journey. I let her know that I'm one to fall asleep when my hair is being groomed and not one to talk. She adapted well and delivered excellent results. The salon owner reached out to me to get feedback on our experience. She not only apologized for the experience we had, but has also personally offered to correct the cut once his hair grows out. I have been to refine twice. The first time I went it was fine. Not worth the price tag but fine. The second time I had a man named Hector and he was horrible. The haircut he gave me was no where near what I described to him. He shaved the sides of my head down to the skin when I showed him some length and left less than an inch in the back of my head where I showed wanting multiple inches. He also didn't say a word the whole session. Definitely cannot recommend due to the outrageous prices and poor quality. Definitely avoid Hector. Have had better haircuts at super cuts. read more

Wow.. so these days customer service is something you don't get these days. It was about 615 after a long day at work and my son needed a hair cut. I went to Yelp, of course :) and this place looked promising. And man on man did they deliver, not only was my son cut the best looking cut done by Andrea he has ever had. She was kind and her service was again something you don't get just anywhere! And then Sara at the front desk. What a gem. She was kind and efficient. They close at 8. So I sent in a request for an appointment and the owner of the company Tammy K. Responded in seconds. She let me know she was not at that location and was not 100% sure if there was any openings left and ask if I would mind calling to see. She didn't have to even respond or be so kind in her response but of course she was. I don't think anyone working here had any poor service. I called and Sara said "oh man I'm sorry I'm not sure we have anything left but hang on just a second and let me check" comes back on and tells me "I'll get you in a 715 is that ok" well damn that service again. I felt I was talking to a friend or if I had been here 1000 times, but this was the first time. I got off the phone with Sara and I said "wow" that was the best service I've had in years and that was just a phone call! Well when we got there Sara was just as great and Andera is now our go to hair dresser for my son and I am having my boyfriend change to here also. The atmosphere here is great. Almost immediately after making my coffee, Tatiana walked into the waiting room and said she was ready for me (almost no wait at all!). Tatiana did an excellent job on getting me exactly what I wanted. She was willing to listen to everything I wanted in a haircut, looked at the pictures I showed her, and didn't start until we both knew exactly what we were going to do. We had a great conversation! I come from S. Korea where everyone's got dope Kpop haircut as a default. In order to keep up(?), I had to find a legitimate place. The problem with hair salons is that most are focused on women's haircut. The problem with barbershops is that most only know how to buzz cut. So, I searched for "men's hair salon" and this shop came up. I don't normally write reviews (actually never did until today) unless my experience was exceptionally good. 'Refine' is truly the right word to describe this place. I had a very difficult situation to solve. Basically, my previous perm experience fried my hair, and Shea--my amazing stylist--talked with me about how to solve this problem. Honestly, it felt more like a hair consulting session than a regular haircut experience. I showed her pictures, videos (in Korean, and somehow she got it!). Shea told me that she is very good with visuals, so I think that helped her. She converted my near dying fried hair into an awesome slicked back undercut (which we call "two-block" style). I am more than satisfied and will definitely come back for more. So, this shop is for anyone who's looking to experience what premium men's haircut is like. Sure, it's little bit pricier than other one's I've been to, but you get what you pay. Also, be prepared to describe thoroughly. This is a mistake you don't make twice. Went for my birthday. Called in advance about pricing and scheduled an appointment. Went in and had the haircut/highlights. Stylist was OK but not too interested in building a relationship, despite the fact that I mentioned I had just relocated to Scottsdale and lived down the street. The cut/color was as expected but nothing amazing - until the bill came. They charged me more for highlights than they would have for solid color (the price I had been quoted on the phone). When I had suggested to the stylist that we do solid color she suggested highlights. She should have flagged the cost difference. Drumroll, please: $213 with tip. You read that right: two-hundred and thirteen dollars. I used to go to a French-owned hair salon with an expat French hair stylist and didn't pay this much for a much better cut. My stylist told me that most clients are people visiting Scottsdale for weddings or vacations. Indeed.
