I called to make an appointment and spoke to who I assume was Twila and she said they don't make appointments to just come in, first come, first served. So, I went in a couple days later in the morning and Twila was there, greeted me and I knew after a few minutes, I found my new barber. The hair cut was better than I've had in a long time. A down to earth shop. Twila is not only a very good barber but a very nice, genuine person. A special treat was our Scottsdale Mayor came in for a haircut. I don't know if I agree with his politics, but I give him credit for coming to Twila's instead of one of those high priced fufu shops. I'll definitely be back. 5 stars is not enough! read more

I was going to go to Great Clips on the main drag of the strip mall, but then I noticed the sign for twila's Barber shop and decided to forgo the mega chain store and support a mom 'n pop (well more like mom' n son) operation instead. Boy, am I ever glad I did. Twila was such a sweet lady and took her time to make sure I got exactly the cut I wanted. She even rinsed my hair off afterwards (no extra charge) because I hate getting itchy hairs in my clothes. I just moved to the area and was looking for a good barber shop to take care of my mop. After perusing the reviews of barbers around me I decided on Twila's and was not disappointed! I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and immediately made to feel comfortable. Davin cut my hair and he did an excellent job. I have a double cow lick (double crown) at the back of my head which tends to be difficult. He tamed that sucker like a champ! I hate the awkward silence when you get your hair cut at a lot of places, but Davin was very friendly and a great conversationalist so this definitely was not a problem. If you have not been here before it may be a bit hard to find. It's kind of behind the Tai Chi studio in the south east corner of the strip that has Massage Envy, Subway etc. They've definitely earned a regular customer. I've been coming to Twilas for about 7 years now for my every 2 week haircut. I happened to stop in by chance one day and got the best haircut I had ever had, on top of that I never have to wait long and the welcoming atmosphere is very nice. I like to stay away from those mega chains that treat you like a number and could care less about your haircut or experience. Coming in here feels like family and you can't put a price on that! Stumbled upon this place by chance and immediately have designated it as my go to barber. Greeted in a friendly manner, served promptly and left with an excellent haircut and an excellent rate. Just what I was looking for - inexpensive family run place for a good, regular haircut. $14.00 plus tip. And like the other reviewers say, it's hidden down the sidewalk between Albertsons and some beauty supply shop. Twila was there today. Lots of hair cutting experience, and it shows because I got a great haircut. She even managed to get my sideburns even (Not so easy with my asymmetric ears). I had been going to the same barber for 20+ years. And, He had been cutting hair for around 50 years when he retired. So when I had to find a new barber, I knew there were going to be some compromises. This place is small and old. Three chairs, the only amenity is a tv. That said, I like these people. They are friendly and pleasant and they obviously have a sizable base of long time customers. Two women and a young guy seem to be the only staff. They don't seem interested in fancy haircuts. So don't go in expecting whatever it is that people expect from a $50 haircut. They are pleasant and hardworking. So if your a jerk stay away. And yes I have received postive comments on my haircuts, so I think they know their business. read more

This is a small barber shop that at first sight would not make you believe that it was that great. However I was very impressed by both my haircut and also by the lady who cut it. She was very polite and accommodating, with no attitude and a great smile to top it all off. I waited about 10 minutes to sit down and she was done with the haircut in 10 minutes and did a perfect job. This was a far cry from what I had experience at ProStyles barber shop a few weeks before where the dude there was surly and unfriendly and did not like to be told what to do. Way too much attitude at ProStyles. I will be returning to Twila's! read more
