Worst haircut I've had in the valley by far. Barber stunk like cigs and did not wash his hands after coming in from smoking outside. Had an appointment for 2 and walked into the shop about 20 minutes early. Was sat right away and back into my car by 1:55. No good haircut can be 15 minutes and I should have known. Just got out of the shower just now and noticed the finger length on top is hardly even. I noticed in the front where one side of my bangs was twice as long as the other side. Don't waste your time with this shop it's not worth the money. Look at the photos and you will see what I mean. read more

I picked Barber Room because of its high ratings, but after my experience there, I'm completely mystified how the business generated such good ratings. I hadn't had a haircut for about eight weeks, and although I asked for just a "light trim" or "cleanup", I walked out with about as close to a buzz cut as I've had since I was 22, including, astonishingly, a 2" x 2" "hole" where he cut my hair to truly buzz cut level. Pretty much the opposite of what I asked for. The good news is I won't need another haircut before spring, but if you want a barber who has been to barber school and will listen to what you want, go elsewhere. read more

This doesn't speak on the barber shop as a whole but more just the guy who cut my hair. He didn't even Introduce himself or tell me his name so I'm writing this. I went in yesterday for a cut, when it was my turn as I said the guy didn't introduce himself or even ask name. He then asked me the haircut I wanted and I had a video to show him, before the video was done he turned away and started grabbing the stuff he "thought" I was taken back cause there was still stuff I would have liked him to see. He then continued to start, didn't talk about what he was going to do or confirm with me that it's what I want. Throughout the haircut he didn't say a single word, there was silence the whole time. When I get a haircut I like the experience of having conversation. Finally he didn't check my hair to make sure the hair was even lengths at any point. The left side or my head is shorter then the right side and the haircut is not what I asked for. I asked for texture and he did barely any. I have pushed back flow hairstyle and he didn't layer anything at all. My hair it chopped right now and I have to go to another barber and spend more money to fix the mess he created. But Lastly, they have water soda and snacks by the front door. I didn't want any, but he never offered any anyways. I would have been nice to at least been offered somthing. Overall a terrible experience and I will not be coming back. read more

Arrived excited because this place was #1 Ranked on Yelp. Unfortunately I left feeling frustrated and disappointed with the quality of my haircut. I asked for a "Low fade" and half an inch off the top. I received a high fade, basically a 1 across all my sides, and probably lost 1.5 inches on the top. The barber seemed rushed. Also didn't really speak English well so there was a language barrier. Nothing worse than a bad haircut. Won't come back. read more

Ok, The Kid refuses to go anywhere else. They have catered to his demands (even if he didn't properly communicate what those were LOL!) I've taken him here at least a handful of times at this point. The first couple of times he had a woman, who he adored and she always did exactly what he wanted. The last time, I was so stoked they were open and they hooked him up again with the cut he wanted, though it was a different gentleman. This time, I actually sat inside and the guy working on his hair communicated well ensuring that what he was doing was what he wanted. I witnessed it for myself and it's The Kids fault it came out shorter than he wanted because he didn't communicate the several times the barber reiterated. After the cut, the barber offered him a hot towel and gave him a nice quick massage of the arms and upper traps while he enjoyed his warm towel. The guys in here just seem really down to earth. Some might not like the fact the only do walk-ins but for my unpredictable schedule, I think its fabulous we can just show up. I wholeheartedly want to see this place thrive because of all of the reasons I already stated. Fortunately for The Kid, his hair will grow out quickly and he can head back for another visit. OH, and lest I not forget, it's affordable enough to give a nice tip to the barbers for their stellar work! read more

I have made an appointment at the barber room a few days ago. I am from out of town an noticed all the good reviews of this place which made me get an appointment. I had my haircut a few days ago and I am very disappointed with the haircut. My barber (guy with a buzz cut) didn't not seem to care at all about doing a good job. Nor didn't he listen to my instructions I provided him nor was the end result good. In fact the hair in the back of my head looks extremely patchy and the proportions are off. Based on my experience I really can't recommend this place and def won't go again. read more

I stopped by this place for a cut while I was in town for the holidays. As someone visiting, I wasn't sure what to expect. I arrived as a walk-in and they got to me quickly. Start to finish, I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. A woman cut my hair (didn't catch her name) - but it was the BEST CUT I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME. The price was reasonable and the whole crew there was super friendly. These are professional barbers that care about their craft. Will definitely be back on my next trip to PHX. read more

James gave me some pomade and explained to me how to use it best to get my sons double cowlicks to sit down properly. And then.... He REFUSED to let me pay him for the hair cut OR the pomade. I practically begged to let me pay and he refused. He said he was happy to get my sons hair fixed up and give him a positive experience so he's excited to come back. The place looked like a typical barbershop with morning sports on the screens and the guys talking about the best steakhouses in town. There was one barber chair open, and the only lady stylist in there gestured for me to come sit down. I told her that i'm growing my hair and just wanted my neck cleaned up. And I'm not a very hairy person back there. As she started wetting my hair, I checked my phone, it was 11:46. When she took the cape off and walked me to the cash register, I checked my phone again. 11:52. 6 minutes sounds about right with the finishing touch of a straight blade. The cost? $30! I looked at her and said "Really, for a back of neck clean up?" She pointed to a sign that was their menu that said "Men's Haircut - $30". I laughed in disbelief as I did the math of her charging me a $300/hr rate to shave my neck. Just another instance of a business in the service industry lacking the desire to gain a customer and taking advantage of a walk-in. I imagine the guys in there that have regulars would never charge their male customers $30 to pop in for a neck clean (like before a date, job interview, etc). The experience was cold and transactional. She didn't even say hello. Just the gesture to the chair. She didn't ask my name or smile. She didn't even say thank you. I won't be back, that's for sure. It now makes sense why her chair was the only empty one, with at least 3 other men waiting for other barbers in lobby chairs. Next time I'll drive further to my go-to person where at least I'll pay a reasonable rate for 5 minutes in the chair, and I'll feel like a welcomed client.
