A CKF brochure titled 'Countertop & Sink Care' highly recommended the 3in1 cleaner specifically for Cambria countertops. We continued to use it 2 or 3 times a year for the first 4 years until we noticed that water rings and a bleached area under our coffee pot were growing increasingly worse and were no longer improved by continued use of that cleaner. We called Cambria to report the problem on our matte finished countertop. They told us to immediately stop using the cleaner (which btw isn't food safe) and sent out a rep to evaluate the problem. Cambria rep could not clean the problem away. We were later told that the Cambria warranty was voided due to use of the non-approved cleaner. Cambria had cut ties with CKF the prior year. CKF sent customer service reps to evaluate and clean the countertops. Their cleaning agents were oily which temporarily improved the water rings and bleached area but did NOT fix the issue. They offered a discount if we chose to purchase a new countertop since we were outside the 1 year warranty CKF provides. What a deal. Total disappointment and frustration after buying our very expensive 'maintenance free' countertop. We decided against a lawsuit after discovering that 1) legal retainer fees were nearly on par with the cost of the countertop, and 2) small claims court can issue a judgment against CKF but can't enforce it that judgment. Beware people. CKF did not take responsibility for this problem and attempted to 'clean it' away with oily agents that did slightly improve the marks, but mostly just temporarily hid them until the oil was washed off. We're now stuck with an expensive countertop where we have to set everything on towels to avoid further damage.

I have to say, we couldn't be more happy with both the end result as well as how DreamMaker approached the entire process from start to finish. The DreamMaker team were really friendly, professional, and responsive from day one until, well, weeks after they'd finished when we had some questions about care and maintenance. They were very transparent with their pricing up front and also provided a complete product list of everything they had installed. When they were working inside of our home, all of the workers that came to visit took immense care. They did a fantastic job in covering up all of our carpet they were walking on, covering up the floors and other surfaces in our bathrooms that they were working in. They kept everything really clean and we were impressed at the attention to detail (the DreamMaker team found minor imperfections that the wife and I missed to correct in the final walk through, far more critical of their own work than we were!). I only have one complaint. They did such a good job with the new bathroom in the basement, it makes our master bathroom look bad!!! (Good problem to have in the end) Pricing wise, we had gotten quotes from multiple vendors earlier on in this process. Considering how top notch of an overall project experience we had, I can pretty happily say that none of them came close to matching the value DreamMaker brought. We will certainly be looking to them in the future for any other projects! (Pictures are just of the new basement install, they also put that black countertop in our other bathrooms)

I've contacted them on three different occasions, over the last two months, asking for someone to just come out and evaluate the problem. Twice I was told someone would contact me (no one did). I would recommend you find a different company for any remodel/home construction work.

Poor Workmanship, Bad Communication, All-Around Awful Experience…read moreOne problem after the another from the day they started our home remodel to the day they were fired. I'm not just talking about the usual behind schedule and over budget type of issues (they were both) but major blunders and sloppy workmanship you wouldn't expect from an experienced, licensed general contractor. Pick a milestone and I can provide an example of how they did it wrong, partially completed it, hid it from me and/or the inspectors or just left it for me to deal with. I now have to pay someone else to fix, replace and finish work that was within their original scope. A few highlights Material left on my garage floor and yard rather than dumpster for weeks. Foundation not done to code. Had to be redone for $$$. Incorrect measurements and lumber orders. Leaks and water damage due to unfished work. Incorrect framing. Had to redone for $$$ Lost hardware and parts. Had to re-purchase for $$$ Hot wires exposed within easy reach of children for weeks. Shorting electrical circuits by putting hot wires in metal junction boxes with no wire nuts. Material and lumber not ordered on time or at all. Lumber prices increased so have to purchase new material for more $$$ Water leaks in new plumbing. Had to be redone for $$$ Project managers didn't know the scope of work. Laborers didn't have any tasks or know what to do when they arrived. Subcontractors hired for individual tasks rather than entire project. Multiple visits, redoing previous work all for extra $$$ Project managers and owner MIA for weeks. Dumped extra concrete in the yard. Sloppy drywall "finishing" (e.g. visible seams and gunk in corners) that has to be redone for extra $$$ Roof flashing that needs redone for more $$$ And to be honest that's just a short list of issues I can rattle of the top of my head. As the project dragged on we wouldn't see or hear from anyone for weeks while our house was torn apart and/or without power. Project managers and owner were nowhere to be found. When they did show up it was usually to have to give bad new, redo previous work or try and expand their scope of work. I'd ask for a competitive quote only to discover they were marking up subcontracted work 100%. When I declined to have them do any additional work I started getting invoices for work that either should have been include in the original bid and/or work they had to redo because it wasn't done right the first time. After the initial bid, the owner showed up twice over the course 7 months. Once to collect a check and once after I fired them. He stopped by to meet with the building inspector after it was discovered some critical framing was never inspected and not done to code. I should have taken the advice given to me and fired them sooner rather than giving them repeated opportunities to make things right. When I told them I no longer required their services, they didn't seem upset or surprised. They wanted to make sure they got paid and move on. Meanwhile, I'm left with a house under construction and a remodel I have to get redone and try to finish on my own. As much as I wanted it work out, I have to say I've never been more disappointed with my decision to hire B Douglas. I'd recommend you look elsewhere for your next project.
