Appointment day, all 3 stylists (I am so sorry but I forgot their names except for Tyler?) listened to what each daughter wanted. Made an appointment for a wash and blow dry with Tyler. My hair has been a mess since getting it colored blonde at a very expensive salon in Shiloh and the humidity has made it unmanageable. No matter what I do it's frizzy and feels like straw, but, Tyler used some excellent products by Virtue, did a 15 minute mask, and took extra care with me. It's been almost 2 years since I have had a head of hair that felt soft and healthy. I'm so very grateful for his kindness and expertise. I will DEFINITELY go back! Thanks again, Tyler!! read more

Very pricey. More so than I've ever paid before for a simple cut and style. But my stylist Taylor was amazing and just the conversation alone made it worth it. She gave so many good tips and made me feel beautiful. And then styled my hair for a photoshoot later that day. Very cute place and quiet, very clean and modern. I will never leave this salon even though I drive from STL! Taylor Baker has been doing my hair for years and even did my wedding hair. I'm a natural brunette but Taylor does such an incredible job turning me platinum that most people think it's natural. She's always into experimenting with fun colored toners and my hair always feels healthy leaving the salon. The salon is pristine and the staff have been nothing but accommodating and kind. They've even ran down the street to pick up my take out order while I sat in the salon with my hair processing. I've recommended this salon to so many people and will continue to! I had my first appointment with Jaclyn at Refinery Salon today. The ease of booking my appointment online was very appealing. I had a consultation with Jaclyn where she asked good questions and made sure she understood what I wanted. I wanted a sombre and a trim. She worked well with my natural wave and gave an amazing shampoo/scalp massage. Jaclyn wasn't chatty, which was a different experience. However, she responded kindly and thoroughly to all of my questions about products and tips for styling and problem areas. I'm very happy with the results and will be back. I've been here two times, the first time I had Adrian and she was wonderful. The second time i asked for her but she was on vacation so the guy at the front desk suggested Kate. I was not informed that she is a higher level and charges way more plus of course having to tip. I was not happy at all about that. Definitely something that should be said before booking appointment, not when it's time to pay after hair is done. I don't think I would recommend this place because of that. Today was my first time at Refinery, and it's a very pretty store. The prices are reasonable and they have really cute stuff. I had made an appointment for a gel mani/regular pedi with Shanna, whom I had never met. She was a doll and we did my mani first. She did a great job. Then she started my pedi, which was great, but I noticed she was using a lot of products. I just wanted the polish and go so we talked and she explained I was down for a spa treatment. I never said anything about a spa treatment on the phone so my only suggestion is to be clear about what you want and make sure they understand. Otherwise a great experience. read more

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a charming shop & and even more charming Calvin, who took the time to offer me a drink, take my coat, and learn how to properly pronounce my difficult name (and then remembered it at my following appointment). Currently super upset because I got the worst haircut of my life, right before I have to go on a trip and had events I was looking forward to. I asked to keep my length and just soften up the edges a bit .. now my hair is very jagged, very short, and one side is over an inch longer than the other side, I noticed at the salon but just said it was fine because I didn't want her to cut anymore hair because it was already so short. I've normally had a good experience at this salon and would have booked with Maxine again because she did an awesome job last time but she wasn't available on the day I needed so I went with someone else and had the complete opposite experience. read more

I have been getting my haircut and color by Tyler for little over a year now. I love how my hair looks and feels after each visit. Tyler knows exactly how I want my hair to look and he does great job!! I also love the retail items Refinery Salon has at waiting area. Refinery salon's no tipping policy show that the stylists genuinely want to give good client service and not driven by tips!! The color products the salon uses are harsh chemical free so I feel my hair doesn't get damaged as much. I have not tried their other services (nail care, hair removal, etc. yet. 4.5 star salon. My second visit to the salon after a long while and it didn't disappoint! Making an appointment was a breeze and although I called in a day prior in the late afternoon, Ashley was able to schedule me the very next day. Amy did my hair today and she was Amazing! I have been having the longest hair forever and wanted something different for a change. She listened to my needs and was able to come up with a style that suits my face. At the end of my session, my hair feels so much lighter and the layers added a much needed volume! The finishing touch of the curling iron does so much magic, I feel like a Queen for a day! She took some pictures of my hair after it's done and man does it look great! I am totally loving my new look and I think I might rock this short hair for a while. I have never feel like I have been rush for both times that I have been there. I absolutely love dip polish due to my busy lifestyle so that's what I wanted. The right hand the woman did an excellent job but the left as you can see is TERRIBLE. My toes were also a disaster. I could not be more happy or impressed with my appointment at Refinery. I made my appointment online and was only able to select the highlights. When arriving I asked if I could also have my hair trimmed, and Dani squeezed in a cut with my color. I walked in with a pretty broad idea of what I wanted and Dani helped me narrow it down. Everyone was very helpful and nice. I have been trying different places since moving to the area and Refinery Salon is where I will stay! my hair cut was fine but the dye was horrible. I paid $150+ for this, and have never regretted a purchase more. The stylist dying my hair was clearly trying to rush through the job, even though the whole point of appointment only is to make sure every person gets the specific style they want. They only bleached my hair for 30 minutes, and when they rinsed to discover that everything was patchy and barely lifted, they didn't even use toner. Never coming here again. read more

After going to the same stylist for the last 6 years, a move across country forced me to find someone new. (Thank you Air Force.) I was so nervous because I can be very picky about my hair which drives me nuts, but seriously your head can make or break your entire look. I finally decided on Refinery based on the reviews, and I was intrigued by the no tipping policy. Basically all the stylists get paid a salary based on experience so your experience is exactly the same every time, you can see someone else if you're broke one month, and you can expect the same service. There is absolutely no cattiness between the girls. So my appointment was with Rae, she's a platinum stylist. Best of the best. I have mid back length very thick hair. It's dark brown, and I've been rocking bleached peek-a-boos for the last 5 or 6 years. I decided to brave it and try something new, so we did an ombré bayalage (not sure how to spell that...). I kept the length, added some long layers and trimmed my side bangs. Of course we wanted to go the least damaging route, so we kept the peekaboos and lightened the ends. Obviously it's not going to be as light as j wanted it, it's a process and takes a few times. I was over all happy however when I got home, it only got more and more orange to the point that it seemed fire red. It was awful, so I called up Rae, she she got me back in the next day for the second process and didn't charge me a penny! I couldn't believe it. It wasn't a mistake she had made, but she knew how much it didn't like the orange so she took care of it. She said "girl you just paid me $200 two days ago, I'm not charging you." Amazing. I'm a starving nursing school student (ok, not starving), so I was so grateful to her at that moment. She took care of the orange and I couldn't be happier. Rae is such a sweetheart, super spunky and very profession and confident. Another words she knows her sh**. I'm happy to say I have found my girl. At least until the next time the military decides to move us. :) I absolutely recommend Refinery Salon. The salon is super cute and all of the girls work side by side and really seem to know their stuff, regardless of experience. read more

She referred me to another girl in the shop who, when I called, was not taking new clients. The guy on the phone was originally not helpful in booking another appointment. I ending up going somewhere else. Later, I was contacted personally for my appointment needs and apologized to! Finding a new hair stylist is tough, especially in a new area. I tried Refinery Salon for my hair color/cut in August based upon recommendations and reviews. It went great! Tyler listened to what I wanted and did a great job!!! He also helped me find the right shampoo/conditioner to extend the life of my color & keep my hair healthy. (I meant to submit this sooner, but life has been busy). It's cool that they have a no tip policy, as it makes me feel a little more at ease. And their services are well-worth the cost. read more
