Fréy Salon and Spa - The wrong color the stylist initially used and very uneven

My mom and I just had our hair done at Fréy, and I can confidently say I have found my new regular…read moresalon. The space itself is great; it's in a historic building at the edge of downtown St. Peter, and the interior preserves that historic vibe without feeling old or run-down; it still feels very airy and chic. The people working there are so kind, helpful, and talented. I was lucky enough to work with Madison, who was able to help me decide on a color toner instead of highlights, which turned out better than I could have imagined. The whole process took about two hours, but she was so delightful to talk to that the time flew by. I expected such a nice salon to be expensive, but the pricing is great: I had my hair colored and styled for $85. I'm already looking forward to going in touch-up!

So disappointed. Regular client for years. I decided to try something new. Must have been outside…read moreof my stylist's wheelhouse, but she didn't say anything about it. I requested a fashion color (pale pastel lilac/lavender), which I knew meant bleaching and then dye. My hair was super brassy after the bleach and the bleach burned my scalp. Then she used the wrong color, resulting in a very uneven blue. Then when she re-dyed it, I ended up with bright neon purple hair. Not the right color, very uneven application and I have spots all around my head that somehow have no color at all. I mentioned that it was very bold and not what I had asked for to the stylist, I was sent on my way because she had another client waiting. Then when I called in to ask that it be fixed, it felt like nobody was taking me seriously and I was just annoying them. When I finally got them to agree to fix it, I was informed I would have to pay for the product that they'll have to use this time, be it bleach or multiple tubes of dye. Absolutely not. I'm not paying for them to fix a mistake THEY made! It wasn't buyer's remorse. My hair was fucked up.

As a paying customer, my name has actually been mentioned regarding conversations I have with the nail technician. I feel like I'm in the middle of a war between the ladies downstairs and upstairs. As a customer, I no longer feel comfortable coming into the salon. I will engage in typical everyday conversation with the technician (its always been everyday conversation), when I am there. My name was brought up to my technician as our conversations were reported as not appropriate, which is ridiculous. I am a paying customer, with no more than a nail technician to customer relationship in that salon. I have been going to Instyle since Sofie and Amy were there and I have worked with Claire as well, who I really like. I will never go back again due to the ongoing issues with gossip and complaints. When I am there, I am uncomfortable and worried, I will be called out about talking too loud or walking too loud across the floor upstairs. I have never had an experience anywhere like this before in my life. If there are issues amongst employees, that's one thing and its bound to happen; however, it should never EVER involve paying customers.
