I loved the mission of this coffee shop so I was excited to check it out. I got an iced strawberry matcha with Oatmilk and it was good, but very sweet. It was also about $9, which I think is pricey, but hey, this is the coffee era we are in now lol I am interested in going back and trying their coffee drinks. I love the concept of Refuge, but also their space is really great. You order outside at the food truck, so that the indoor space is a separate place to work or read with some chill music. They have many outlets and a good number of tables/seats around as well. I'm not sure about the coffee, but the smoothie is not it... It tastes like frozen sugar water. read more

The service was great the young lady taking my order was really nice. The order was quick and didn't take too long. The outdoor seating was comfortable and there was plenty of space outside to sit or you could sit inside. You order at the food truck and then sit where you would like. The food was good, it was a nice light snack and different than the usual option of pastries. Space was clean and open. People were fast and friendly. And your business supports a really stellar nonprofit. I had a vanilla oat latte and blueberry muffin to go from the food truck. This was probably the worst meal I got in my entire life. the muffin was very stale and tasteless. The latte had no coffee flavor and a very weird taste. I ended up throwing them both in be garbage.So nasty. read more

Update to my review from Monday* So I realized there is an area for working that does have outlets. The other tables inside don't but there is a long bar right when you walk in that does. Happened to be in the area and needed my caffeine big-time! I like to try local businesses and this place came up. It did not disappoint. SERVICE: They were friendly and quick to take my order. My caffeine was prepared quickly (which was my main objective this morning). FOOD: I ordered an Americano and it was nice and strong!! (Yay) CLEANLINESS: This place is currently being operated out of their mobile food trucks, but I did also see a sit down cafe (not open at this time). Normally I order a cappuccino but when I don't know the skills of the person behind the bar I go for a cappuccino. I think the last time I visited they were serving Perc outbid Savannah which is always good. The staff here is always friendly and I can count on that. An amazing mission, great people and great coffee. I visited for the 1st time today on world refugee day and they did a great job hosting the event and bringing awareness. We received goodie bags that included several activities for your family to better understand what it's like to be a refugee, how to make an impact and ways to support refugee owned businesses in Clarkston. They even included the name of a playlist on spotify (search refuge coffee). There was outdoor seating and signage encouraging social distancing. We were greeted by an employee who was super friendly and helped us find seating. They had a drive up order area next to the mobile refuge coffee shop truck and a walk up order area outside. There were T-shirts for sale, mugs, artwork and more for sale in their shop and I look forward to visiting more often and purchasing some things. Supporting a great non-profit and cause while enjoying great coffee! It's a shame I haven't stopped by sooner. read more

I've come here a couple of times to grab a latte and they have been delicious! They aren't overly sweet and the taste is yummy! The staff there work fast and are sweet with a smile on their face. Plenty of seating inside and outside and parking as well. They do sell a few pastries but I have never tried them before. Will be back again! read more

I stopped by on a mid morning rainy day and was really impressed with the set up. Great space, inside and out. I highly recommend reading into their story and purpose. We need more places like this!! I asked the baristas what his favorite item was and we landed on a latte with caramel. I asked if they had dairy free milk and they had lots of options - so I got oat milk :) My drink was ready in a moment, but I had to run to an appointment. Hopefully next time I'll be able to stay and enjoy it at one of their tables. The latte was okay, not the best flavor I've ever had, but definitely not bad. I really liked the lids they used. Was needing an afternoon pick me up and dropped by Refuge Coffee Co for a latte this afternoon. This coffee shop is located in Clarkston very close to 285! When I arrived I had no problem finding parking and was able to walk right up to the coffee truck and order my latte. The barista was very friendly and fast! I ordered the lavender latte which was one of their spring flavors. It is an adorable coffee place where you order your coffee at the coffee truck and then can sit at a picnic table and enjoy or inside where they have tables. This would be a great place to meet friends and catch up or even to work! I will be back. read more

Wheelchair ramp I do wish the restrooms were more comfortable but they are cleaned frequently and well stocked. They're on the side of the building in a separate entrance so the floor can get a bit gravel-ly. No heat so was a bit nippy. I think it's because there is no ventilation system so the door is left open but idk. Lastly, I wished that they would use more eco friendly things instead of traditional plastic-wrapped utensils and offer recycling or even composting. But, those are big steps! Anyway, management here is really doing good work for the community so, with our continued patronage, I'm sure the business will do what other goods it can, in time. read more

The service was quick and friendly and the price was even better! I ordered a cappuccino and small drip coffee with the total equaling just $5 before tip! The cappuccino was delicious and strong and my friends drip coffee was flavorful and just the caffeine fix she needed. The best part of the whole trip though revolves around the mission of the business. Refuge coffee Co. is a nonprofit organization that provides refugees with hands on job training and mentorship. Wonderful neighborhood coffee spot with a huge variety of interesting coffees and pastries. My favorite is the hibiscus tea--- delic and refreshing. They make it there and is not overly sugary. Since there was a surprising chill in the air today, I ordered a lavender vanilla latte and to my surprise it was quite good and a welcome change to coffee. I went ahead and added had a cinnamon twist pastry to sooth my sweet tooth. I definitely recommend Refuge. I love the mission of this place and the open concept, but I'm sad to report that I did not like my drink or my pastry. I ordered a hot chocolate and it was ok, but not the kind of flavor I was looking for. I also ordered a chocolate croissant, but it was weirdly crunchy, so much so that it was nearly impossible to eat. The employees were nice enough to give me a new one, which was slightly better, but still crispy. I don't know what that was about, but it was sorely disappointing. The people are nice though and it is a really great spot to camp out and study for a few hours. Maybe their coffee drinks are better, I don't know. Awesome vibe, great mission, and excellent service, what's not to love about this place? Refuge Coffee is located on E Ponce De Leon Ave and Market Street, just minutes east of I-285 on the left side. The coffee shop itself is actually a food truck that serves both coffee and specialty teas. There are two trucks - one that usually sits at this location and another one that roams Atlanta (usually downtown area, according to the owner). The parking lot is big and the truck has a WiFi hotspot. Environment is really cool both inside and outside. The building itself looks like a converted auto garage - what was most likely an old waiting area while you got an oil change now has several wooden tables, fans, and colorful art. The converted garage area has colorful tables of different sizes, more art, and couches. If you want to sit outside, there are both wooden tables and wooden benches underneath an awning. On a summer day you'll get a nice breeze and a view of the train tracks that parallel E Ponce De Leon. Drinks are decent and well-priced here. One of my good friends recently got me hooked to hibiscus tea, so I was thrilled to find an iced hibiscus tea on the menu. The tea was sweet and had good flavor. I love the mission of this place - a coffee shop that gives it proceeds to support refugees. In addition to drinks, you can purchase little knick-knacks in which profits go towards this noble cause. I also noticed that there was a collection area for clothing donations - full at the time I was there, but I really liked seeing how generous the owners of this place are. Finally - the service is excellent here. The owner and barista were super friendly. We misread the closing time of the coffee shop and both of them encouraged us to stick around until everything was cleaned up. Both of them are very polite and welcoming. The establishment mainly consists of a large food-truck--that serves coffee, of course--and a small building behind it where they operate store their supplies.
