Door had deadbolt above handle, which you can see has no hole to lock into.

I've never left a 1* Hotel review. Chipped paint and dated decor don't bother us - if the place is clean, comfortable, safe and convenient. The Regal was none of those. Good location... but downhill from there. 1) The listing says front desk till 11pm. We got a call at 7:45 asking when we'd be checking in. We said about 8:30. "Oh, we'll be closed by then. We'll leave your room open and put an envelope on office window with instructions." Sure - we can cut some slack, entering slow season. 2) Not only was the desk closed, everything was unavailable. After a long day of driving, we were paying a "Resort Fee" to use the pool, sauna, etc. -- all of those were locked. 3) Our room and it had potential, was shabby. Maybe they had a tough season (or tough guests) with a broken desk chair, paint slopped all over the place. My wife refused to use the shower. All of that minor -- compared to the fact that anyone standing outside our room could see in (window coverings don't cover) and (SEE PHOTO) it's obvious someone had broken the deadbolt in and they didn't bother putting a hole in the jam to repair it! 4) Next morning I went to the front desk, greeted by "Press Button and we'll be with you in 2-3 minutes." Did that, waited 5 min, did it again, waited another 5... finally said chuck-it and left. Called later and the Manager told me I should be happy with the reduced "off-season" rate (still not cheap). Made no apology for anything, but finally agreed to refund "Resort Fee".

The room was decent. It fit the need which was a place to rest and sleep for the night. Although the facility was clean it was not the type of place I would come back to. The parking was very difficult, you almost had to get there early to secure space. The room was a bit dated. The view and location was a block from the beach so I am sure in the summer it must be a good location to stay at.

    stained mattress cover. disgusting.

please do not ever stay here. I am a 30 y/o female who traveled solo for a half marathon in Hampton and didn't feel the least bit safe. I've traveled to numerous places and have traveled and slept in hotels solo with no complaints. as I headed down the street, the hotels/inns got sketchier and sketchier. I sadly pulled up to the regal inn. entered the lobby and immediately was overcome by a nauseating smell of chlorine and a musty smell. there was NO ONE in the lobby to check me in. I had to read multiple hand written notes and was suggested (per paper) to call and someone would be over in 10 minutes. I was nervous, clearly I didn't want anyone having my #,but I had already traveled 2 hours and really needed to check in. the lady arrived and was pleasant. she worked inside of a complete glass office - similar to a movie ticket office or a bank teller. I was sketched out that she had already credited my credit card (two women I met earlier said theu were charged at1pm BEFORE checking in). room was OK. smelled horrible. very basic. microwave was in hallway? very random. lighting in bathroom was horrible - no toiletries, except maybe aome towelette thing on sink. mattress cover was DIRTY. I had to go to walk mart to buy a fleece blanket (I brought my own sheet and pillow). there's no security. when i left at 7am,no one was there. very unsettling. I talked to two other groups of ladies who had same complaints as I did witb rooms and hotel in general. I'll never, ever stay here,or recommend it to anyone. absolutely disgusting, creepy and low run.

I've been vacationing in Hampton for over a decade and booked the Regal Inn with a budget hotel site. I found the staff to be super helpful and accommodating during Fourth of July week. Our room was clean and well appointed (loved the Hello Kitty shower curtain!!). Parking was a breeze and I only wish we could've stayed longer to enjoy the pool! The Regal Inn will be on the short list when I consider where to stay in Hampton!

Above is the sheet they used to cover the mess

The parking was horrible, theres literally 20 spots in a small parking garage. It was an older building and the stairs could cave in at any moment. Despite the first room still had a cleaning lady in it they gave us the room and the second has a broken bed wheel and whoever "cleaned" never vacuumed under the beds, they just covered it. Our last room didnt even have a fire alarm. Im no doctor but thats breaking at least a few fire codes. There was a huge tick in the bathroom. The people that book the place are loud and if you have an issue at night, good luck because theres no one to help you.

I watched him give personal items away to guests, carry items up and down stairs for people and I don't know if he ever stops helping people. From what I can tell that is true. He was there every day I was this summer. I stayed 3 separate occasions this year for a total of 15 nights. Joe seems to be the only person working in the office open to close (7 days a week). What I will say is whoever owns the mainsail now should get this guy some help. He is strict but so was Diane and Chet who were the best owners. Rules are a great way to preserve the mainsail. Joe if you see this I hope your leg heals fast and thank you for all your help. I know you said to say staff if I left a review but you deserve some credit. You better be getting paid for all those hours you give to others for free, because you're missing out spending that time with your little daughter and family. Keep up the good work. I'll be seeing you in 2025. Positives - The people who work there - Safe - Clean - The family feeling -Location - Still open (October 23) - Price was very cheap compared to that of recent years. Negatives - Wifi is terrible in my cottage. - Pool is closed (October) - My room smelt like paint, but that's also a positive as it seems they are painting and doing upgrades. - Cottages need some updates.

Even better, you're adjacent to the Casino Ballroom. It was cool to check out the tour buses arriving as we walked to breakfast. We stayed here for a show and it was convenient to be so close. Every interaction with the staff was helpful and pleasant - phone calls to in person! The price is on par with other spots in the area but here you get a parking spot, pool, and everything is clean and new. Over $550 for two nights is still outrageous, but that is life in 2022. Comfortable bed alert!! Both my husband and I had very restful sleeps (I'm a stomach sleeper and slept awesome!) The rooms were just was we needed although it would have been nice to have a small table and chairs in the room. There's a perfect space by the window in the room for that. 2 night minimum stay...so we made a beach weekend out of our concert night. We left saying, "if we ever come back let's stay here again".

The rooms are evidently undergoing some renovations; however, I don't think there is anyway to renovate this to today's expectations and standards. The heating and cooling unit is loud enough that if you are trying to watch TV you have to turn the volume up when it kicks in and down when it cycles down. The floor had a downhill tilt (not as noticeable in shoes but definitely if you are barefoot). A laminate wood floor has been added as an "update" at sometime, which would have been the time to level up the slope. The ceiling and areas around the heat/air unit all have crazy gaps and need better trim work. Let's talk ventilation and insulation. I swear the ducts just connect one room to another. We listened to the kids next door carrying on till after 11 and the parents evidently didn't care about other guests and the running up and down the halls and hollering during other times was like they were in our room with us. Our room was over the function room and I think the music was louder in our room than it was when we had been downstairs. The advertised "shared microwave" is just one in the lobby, not even one on each floor by the ice machines. We attended a function on Saturday night in the banquet hall. The serving staff was great and were hustling their butt's off. The food was a giant hit or miss!! Those who had pre-ordered the grilled sirloin had the home run meal. The rest of us struck out. The chicken was pounded so thin that it was dry all the way through except for a silver dollar sized area, those who got the ravioli found them to be under stuffed and lacked any kind of sauce so were also dry. If that wasn't bad enough everything was luke warm, but because I was hungry I ate the broccoli and penne . The salds were good, veggies were crispy. Dressing was spotty on some of them and well dressed on others. For the outrageous meal price for events, I am sure we will not be back. When we checked out there was no " how was your stay inquiry from staff, just a "there are no charges so you are all set"

They charge you for the use of chairs and their coffee and valet $50 per day no matter if you use any of it or not. The room was extremely small which was ok we can handle that, we asked to have our room cleaned each day was only cleaned one day, asked for fresh towels 3 times before we actually finally got them, no blow dryer, had to steel one from another room that was open for renovations. Over all the amount was way over priced for the surrounding dummy area. If you wanna charge top rates at least have things to offer for that top cost. Open your restaurants have more to offer.
