Walkable to stores, a brewery, restaurants, etc....It is likely you won't touch your car all stay if you don't want to. Various lodging options (we get a suite in the Sea Rose suites) including rooms, cottages, a 2 family house, and suites, you are sure to be happy as they are all clean and comfortable. The staff is attentive to any and all needs and always with a smile!. Least welcoming place I've ever encountered. The place is generally decent. However it has serious…read moreflaws. The first of these was the hostile reception upon entering the place. We drove through a narrow entryway into an area that was maybe five cars wide. I parked to the right most area and was greeted by a hostile voice, saying are you here to register? I said yes. She said move your car. There were probably three or four widths of cars to my left so that anybody coming into the place could have gotten through perfectly easily. And by three or four car widths I mean 30 or 40 feet . I absolutely could not think of any reason for this hostile greeting. My companion opined, probably accurately, that the person yelling at me wanted to establish power in our relationship. That continued with our trying to check in at 2:30 P.M. We were told that check in time was 3:00. There were apparently many available rooms and almost no cars in the area. The the only people around where people that seem to hang around there all the time. We had to leave and come back 30 minutes later. As I have been a carpenter, I noted some obvious deficiencies in the property. The most blatant of these is that there is apparently no accessibility to anyone with any limited walking ability let alone anyone in a wheelchair. Everything is absolutely blockaded to a wheelchair. And then there is a restaurant that seems to be part of the property. That is a confusing nightmare between whether it is a pizza place or something better. A flyer for a pizza place was in our room. but the resto there had a broad menu. The was a meal there was nice but... The back stairs to the place must have been designed and built by Helen Keller. It is an axiom, an absolute rule, that steps must be of equal hights. If they are not people always trip on one or more of them that are not equally spaced. Every carpenter knows this and every designer knows this. Helen Keller or whoever built those stairs didn't give a damn. No building inspector could look at them and not laugh before writing a violation notice.

I asked the front office if they could do a quick wash of the floor, but they never showed up. Don't make the mistake of walking barefoot on the floor with wet feet, and if you are wearing socks, the bottom of them will turn black quickly. The cold water knob in the shower was frozen shut, and it couldn't turn, only leaving the hot water knob usable, making the shower unusable onless you like scalding water. I asked the front desk if someone could look at it, but nobody showed up. Also, don't try sitting in their cheap plastic patio chairs outside the room, unless you have good health insurance. I started coming here when I got a dog…read more She was only just a puppy my first summer and this seemed to be one of the few dog friendly spots in York. I came back every year because of how kind and friendly the owner Cedar was to me my first summer. Every year I come back she remembers me and Stella! York is so special to me and it's nice I can bring my fur child along when I come on vacation. The rooms have been newly renovated too and are really clean and awesome for a motel!

The beach is just across the street -the location is excellent. As some of the rooms are dog friendly, we walked our dog daily on Long Sands Beach. You can walk after 6pm and before 8am on Longs Sands Beach. We walked about a mile down the street to the Long Sands General Store and had breakfast - it opens at 6:30am and was very reasonable. The hotel room was clean, it is a nice place to stay, and the location is great.

For what I could tell there are 2 outdoor pools, one indoor pool and a larger hot tub. There seems to be a lot of weddings there. I believe like 3-4 a weekend. The grounds were very well cared for and there were different activities throughout the day you could participate in. The location is a little remote which is nice, but hard to explore being that it was our first time in Maine. The food was pretty good for the most part. We liked the food better at The Tiller than Nubb's. The drinks are really tasty, but can get spendy. We overall really enjoyed our visit and stay at Cliff House. Rating would be 4.25

Great place to spend a getaway as you want it, quiet, or on the go!…read more Pro's, you don't have to leave the property once you arrive. It's all there, for the kids, to adults. Nice views, great staff, grounds meticulously maintained. I will go back for sure. If you find yourself bored, I played humpback whale calls off my balcony late at night, I found a dozen or so people coming out of the hotel looking feverishly for any signs of one. A good time was had by all!
