long awaited, the day has arrived

Free drink and popcorn- color me happy! Thankyou Regal Auditorium has new seats looks great and updated. First time I actually saw the worker go row to row to wipe down the tables then sweep. The cup holders looked grungy inside but the rest was a pleasure to watch a movie in here. Hope Regal Pearl Highlands gets a makeover soon too. Came to Kapolei today because Roofman had 2 afternoon slots here and our go to theater only had a 9 pm.

I went to this theater for the first time last month and it has quickly grown to be on my favorites list. There's plenty of parking and there's tons of retail/ restaurants around the area to make a great dinner and movie experience. The theater is bright, clean and welcoming. They have food specials as well as your standard theater food. The prices on the local specials were pretty good as compared to the standard popcorn and drink prices. The seats are roomy and comfortable. Be aware that the most popular seats in the middle are getting worn down. I like the swinging food tables for each seat. Some regal cinemas do not have these. Overall a wonderful movie spot. Friendly staff and great food options make this place a winner.

Movie night... When Nadine asked if I wanted to so see a movie you know I'm there! I really don't go very often as most folks I know aren't interest in it very much sadly so sure I was really excited and thank you Nadine! Showing is for Shogun before it's release on February 27th to FX and Hulu which I don't have and had no idea but was intrigued nevertheless and it's also my first time here at Regal Kapolei Commons which absolutely beautiful btw as it's so nice and clean the staff that was in charge of organizing and setting up was patient and polite to keep us all updated so we all patiently waited which made it a great chance to catch up and chat. Once we're all ready I was so impressed and surprised that we also got free popcorn and drink ready for us, what a wonderful and thoughtful gesture and oh how I'm so ready to kick back and enjoy after we grabbed our seat which is very nice and comfy...the recline is fabulous! Great showing as we dove further and discussed about how history and it's making is quite insane I thoroughly enjoyed it all and am so thankful to have this opportunity...thank you again Nadine! Thank you!

    Date night with hubby!

I haven't been to the theatres in years but my son wanted to see a certain movie, so I decided on this theatre since we've never been to it. I had purchased tickets online through my work but still had to check in at the kiosk to get the actual movie tickets. The kiosk was a bit finicky with absolutely no one around to assist. I had to assist some elderly couples since the employee near the concession seemed to be hiding behind the front desk door. The concession stand didn't have many workers so there was a long line. I recommend tag teaming with your family members, someone to order the food and the other to secure the tickets. The reclined seats weren't as great as I had imagined and the arm rests looked absolutely run down. It was quite empty on a Saturday and understaffed.

The staff also do a great job maintaining it, especially considering there are multiple stalls. Every Tuesday, they have a really great deal where movies are half price, so you only end up spending around $7! That's extremely affordable, especially when you want to see a movie that just came out. I came here today hoping to find a popcorn bucket that might be on sale, but unfortunately, they didn't have any selections today. I'll definitely be coming back for another discounted Tuesday movie! I got lucky last time and found the Freakier Friday popcorn buckets. Now I'm on the hunt for the One Wish Willow popcorn bucket. Crossing my fingers! Watching shows and movies on your phone is cool and all, but there's just nothing like the movie theater experience. I say we keep this experience alive! I don't want to see movie theaters become another Blockbuster. Times are changing, and these businesses need our support. Go watch a movie on Tuesday, grab some popcorn, and enjoy some quality time with a friend.

"Such A Scream" - Tom Waits…read more For a screaming good time (15 minutes), come to the Haunted Plantation to lose your voice if you're easily scared, just don't expect a lot of scenery. PARKING: You have to park on the street on Malakeke (free). Don't pull into the parking lot of the Haunted Plantation thinking you can sneak by, you'll get turned away or caught. Crossing Waipahu St was like being in a live Frogger game; only later did the police show up to direct/stop traffic for pedestrians, which was very much appreciated. I don't want to be a real live ghost at the corner after being squashed by a speeding motorist. PRICE: $21.00 cash only. You have reserve your time slot online, then go in person and pay up the cash. Stand in the line that leads up to the metal cubicle that opens up to magically reveal a table that will take all your money. ATM on premises. TOILETS: Port-a-potties. Dark too. Don't drop your phone into the abyss. DRINKS and THINGS: It was really hot in October. We ended up buying bottled water for $2 at the "snack cubicle" - another metal cube that had water, juice, candies for sale as well as those glow stick necklaces that light up and make you an easy target in the dark for the actors to scare. PHOTOS: No photography or video recording inside the HP. They are serious. If you get caught they will escort you off property. ATTRACTION: you wait in line at the entrance of the tunnel that leads you to the many cute plantation homes, the paths are lit with those mini candles on the ground. If you're lucky you're going on OCT 28, 203 SATURDAY on a full moon, so you can see better. Each home has a bunch of scare actors that dart across you, come up to your face, skittle on the floor, jump out from behind doors and corners, slam and pound the floor and boards. WEAR SHOES. One of the actors meant to slam the floor with his foot only to stomp on my husband's (protected) foot. Scared people may back into you and step onto your feet as well. If you're easily spooked, you'll get a lovely thrill and scream your head off. My son didn't scream once, but he's not easily scared. My husband screamed once. I screamed the whole way. I wish there was more scenery other than dark dimly lit rooms. There was only one memorable one, a barber-shop that had some light in them. If the owners of 17A are reading this, let me come do the mood lighting for future haunted plantations, I can make the houses a LOT scarier with blue, green, purple, red or orange lighting or a combo. I do my own haunted scenes at home and use theatrical lighting to make things pop. TIPS: Take cash, pee/poo at home, wear covered shoes, drink cold water in your car before walking over, wear diaper. RETURN FACTOR: Only if my vocal cords can handle it.

The admission to the museum was pricey, even for Kama'aina, so we opted to get the Family Membership instead. The membership was for 2 adults and up to 4 kids, and also has discounts for other exhibits. After a quick sweep through the museum, and a wary observation of the flight simulator, the grandson decided it was time to eat. I got the Blue Angels Burger and he got the kids hot dog meal. I'd say the prices were reasonable, considering how much takeout and restaurant food costs these days. The burger was fat as hell and the dog wasn't Costco sized but definitely satisfied the kid. I didn't get pics of the food because I was too enthralled over the size of the patty! We spent the day also visiting the Mighty Mo, the Virtual Reality tour, and gift shop shopping also.

I understand that active military base, but not publishing on the website regarding the bag restrictions and then forcing people to pay it just not right. But oh well. Plan accordingly because while the buses run every 15 minutes, you need to wait. The museum is $30 entry fee but keep in mind 3/4 of the museum is currently closed for renovation. For $30 it is a bit pricey but because of the buses and the amount of employees, i understand the high price tag. 2 stars. The deep history and the significance of this place and the men and women that gave their lives makes this a 5 star must see to show your respect. Museum: very small but well done with restored planes recovered from the war. There was a Blue Angels pilot shared his experience. I was able to catch the last 5 minutes. The employees are very knowledgeable and willing to share stories. I read everything and was done in roughly 45 minutes. The museum is very small - 4 stars. Here is my recommendation: Come the visitor center it is free. Check that out and read everything. See the Submarine from the outside because it is free. Then jump on the bus because it is free. While you are driving to the warship, you pass the Arizona Memorial. Snap a photo and show your respect. Get off at the warship. Walk around the warship it is free. Then jump back on the bus and go to the Aviation museum. Again free. Walk around the outside and see the airplanes it is free. There is a gigantic helicopter it is free. Go to the back and look in the backside to get perspective. Then just back on the bus and go back to the visitor center it is free. If anyone says anything to you, go to the cafe/restaurant across from the Aviation Museum.
