Nice old school theater, large, clean, and they even had great Christmas decoration. I'd go again.

Love this theater because it's cheaper than the other movie theaters in town. Yes, you have to wait for a while for the movies that are currently showing in the other theaters for it to show at Totem but for the price, it's worth the wait. Staff was very friendly. The chairs are nothing special but it is nice having basically the whole theater to yourself! Concessions were definitely overpriced ($5 for a small water and $8 for a small popcorn) but what movie theater isn't lol. read more

I have probably been to Regal Totem a total of 50 times since I've lived in Alaska. $4 tickets for movies that are a month or two old it's totally worth it. Popcorn and candy prices don't change BUT who cares the damn ticket cost $4 cmon. Sneak some in your coat if it's that expensive. Which it is.. JUS KIDDIN. As I was saying.. You do get what you pay for my friends. The seats are pretty uncomfortable when sitting for long hours. They don't recline. It's really nothing fancy and I don't expect them to do any of those things for a $4 ticket and a 2 month old movie. They also have great service to. One time I went to see a movie and the lights kept flickering on and off in the theater along with sound problems. It was pretty frustrating but I told the manager and she gave me additional tickets to use whenever I wanted to as a refund. I would've gave them a 4 but for that support. These guys deserve a 5. Point blank. Oh did I mention 9 times out of 10 the theater will be EMPTY when you come here? Yea that's pretty solid. Pce y'all. read more

This is one of the oldest theaters left in Anchorage since the demise of Fireweed Theater. All movies are $3, while concession stand treats are what you would expect with other theaters. I came here and saw Paranormal Activity 2 and got so scared that I jumped out of my seat and farted a little. Thankfully the theater smells like vomit and stale soda so the few around me did not notice anything. Typical theater filling is around 8 people, how long can this theater survive? Cheap date + stinky theaters= 3 stars and unnoticed farts. read more

$2 movies! They offer last showing movies at a reduced price. If you want to see a movie two months after it is first released and right before you can buy it - this is the spot. It's a fun, cheap theater experience and you get what you pay for, as always. read more

It's the oldest movie theater still running. It's nostalgic as I used to come here as a kid in its glory days. They offer a $2 Tuesday deal. It's nice because you can catch movies late after release for a decent price on the big screen. Not packed and convenient. I hope they never close trying to keep up with the big guys. read more

An older movie house that is definitely a bit run down. But, after all, what can one expect when they are paying $5 or less for a movie. The movies shown are ones that come out about 3 months after the release date, and the quality of titles varies from month to month. Overall, a below average movie house, but a great price. read more

Three bucks for a movie AND I still get patronage points on my Regal customer rewards points. AWESOME. Oldish style cinema (with some HUGE old style theaters), but definitely a God-send for anyone with a family or on a budget. I don't care that the movies are second run... they're still just as good and I don't feel so guilty about spending $20 on concessions when I only paid 3 dollars to get in. And Totem is clean too, which surprised me because back East the second run places were filthy. Totem rocks. read more

Great place to take the whole family. With tickets less than $4.00/ticket can get the whole movie experience without overly priced movies. True, movies are older and soon to be on redbox but seeing movies on a bigger screen makes up for it. Some days the theater is clean and other times it is a mess, but that is expected with kids running around with popcorn and soda pop. read more

Totem is the new home of the $3 movies in Anchorage. Every time slot and movie is $3 since the midtown theater closed last summer. The theater is a little old but it's fun to go see a 3 buck movie when you are bored. The theater itself is located on south Muldoon rd just north of the Tudor/Muldoon curve and there is a beautiful mountain view from the parking lot. They have a decent snack bar with the high prices you have come to expect when going to the movies. Overall a great place for a movie.. read more

I live near this theater, and so I really do appreciate the lower cost ($4.20 every day except Tuesdays; which are only 2 bucks) to see second-run movies. How-so-ever!! Neglect has become more and more prominent and this is a sad situation. It literally smells in there, the carpeting is wtf worn out, the floors inside the theaters are usually littered with popcorn and sticky stuff, the seats are incredibly uncomfortable and the restrooms are downright frightening. On top of all that, there are more and more questionable characters wandering in and ruining other paying patron's enjoyment of the movie. I realize replacing seats can be expensive, but this place screams mercy on even minor upkeep. It's worth it to me to spend an extra $4.50 (on Tuesdays for example) to go to Regal Tikahtnu. Other than the fact that Tikahtnu is a much newer and cleaner place, the patrons (for the most part!) are there to actually see and hear the movie, and enjoy it. By not attracting attention to themselves and causing distraction for others, a night out at the movies serves it's purpose. What a concept! read more

Totem Theater has become the new "3.00" movie house here in Anchorage, and to be honest it is not bad...It started to show a little age before this conversion, but the seats are comfortable and more updated than the Fireweed Theater was. I will miss the Fireweed, BUT, it is nice to have the second runs so close to my house...Snacks are evenly priced....worth a Saturday! read more

We love the Totem. With a family of 5, we really like to catch movies there, and we get points on our regal card too. Even though the theater is on the older side, it is clean, and the employees try hard to help. Friendly and nice. We love it! read more

The theater is pretty old, but they keep it clean. Movies are only $3.50. Great way to see the flicks you "kinda" wanna see, but think might be a waste of money or great for a day when you wanna see multiple movies in a row. read more

IMax!! i love this place! the popcorn is always fresh and service is always quick. Typical lines on busy night but they really do anything they can to accomidate you. Clean bathrooms are a major bonus to me. I will most definetly visit again! read more

I find this theater a true gem. It's just a little smaller than your regular big theater, but the prices are much better and the food choices are great. Catch a movie you were not able to view for whatever reason here for a fraction of the price. If you have children, this is the place to bring the little ones. Great snackies and inexpensive movies! True, this is not an upscale theater with 1st run movies, but I am still happy that there is a place that I can go and take my kids and foster children, their friends to see a good movie and get out of the house. My schedule is not very flexible when it comes to leisure, I cannot always afford to see a new movie when it first comes out but I am thankful that I have the option and a 'Plan B' where I can see a good movie, for a great price and possibly even a re-run. i typically buy the largest -size drinks and popcorn, that are refillable (for free) so that we call can have a good time. It's just a great value, gets us out of the house and it's never crowded so it's easier to keep an eye on my group, big time YAY!!!! read more

I went to see Academy Award winner, "Life of Pi". 1. The first 5 minutes, including most of the awesome zoo images, had audio but no image, just black screen. I searched the lobby, found a supervisor, and complained. The projectionist started his projector at that point, no consideration to restarting the whole movie. 2. The audio for the neighboring theater room, showing a "Die Hard" movie, was so loud, it interfered with "Pi". I went out to the lobby, found another manager, and complained. The projectionist turned down the "Die Hard" volume. 3. The projectionist left his room lights on throughout the movie, and light from the room through its 3 windows shone on the screen, producing 3 big obscurations on the screen. 4. The concession stand had 3 staff members focused on heating a piece of pizza for one customer and chatting as the line grew longer and longer. It took 10 minutes to buy a popcorn, and I was the guy behind the pizza customer. There is an independent, first rate Art & Second Run theater here in Spenard. I will go there in the future. It is well run. I will never go to Totem again. read more

Totem is a landmark and I hope it continues to run. There are so many people that cannot afford the higher prices in the other theaters and This gives so MUCH PLEASURE to those of us that work with people that can't afford others and WANT TO enjoy a good movie read more

My four stars are strictly because I'm a fan. It's a place you can watch movies for a cheaper price if you don't want to pay full price for it at the regular Century 16 or Tikahtnu. It is $3 for admission and the consession is like any other. Same prices and same offerings. The seatings are a bit different. I personally like them because it reminds me of being in an ol' fashioned movie theater where the seats don't elevate too much at all to accomadate height. It surprisingly does get crowded but not necessarily within the movies itself so that's always a plus. It always makes you feel like you have the theater to yourself just because you don't notice the 1 or 2 other people that maybe there to watch the movie aswell. Me &my husband are movie goers, so if we like a movie, we'll go see it twice at the totem for a cheaper price during the weekend or just an early show after work to relax. It's decent and definitely some where we frequent occasionally. read more
