Regatta is a really lovely bed and breakfast. I've got a nice breakfast in the mornings. The staff is absolutely lovely. They offer bicycles that you can ride into the main street and along the island. I stayed for two nights it was very enjoyable with experience very comfortable beds, nice rooms I would definitely make it my first choice and coming back to Folly Beach as the place I would stay. read more

Had an amazing time staying at the Regatta Inn. Paige was sooo wonderful during arrival, she made sure we were comfortable and made us feel at home... got us anything we needed while she was there! She was an absolute delight!! And the same thing during check out, Anne and Lisa were too amazing, almost had us convinced to stay another night. The place itself was so comfy and cozy I felt so at. Stayed here when it 1st opened several years ago. The service and ambiance was phenomenal then. It seems to have lost a step. The portable AC units in the rooms are a real buzz killer. I hardly slept due to the constant fluctuating noise. The breakfast part of the experience was lackluster and phoned in. I'm on vacation at a beach. A pitcher of mimosas could go a long way. I recall it being one of the highlights of my stay before. If the other part of my vacation hadn't have been at a different BnB, I might not have realized how overpriced and underwhelming this place is. Bikes and basically everything else are extra now. On the plus side, the staff here were very gracious, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I can't say enough good things about them. The views from the rooms and the staff are the only reasons to stay here though. read more

This place is absolutely amazing. When you first drive up you are met with a beautiful southern style inn sitting on water. The room was the perfect size with a tv, fireplace and a balcony overlooking either the garden or ocean. The bathroom was so clean it felt like no one had ever used it! The staff was so friendly and accommodating and made our stay so welcoming. Also the inn provides many amenities such as bikes and scooters and happy hour! We loved the Regatta Inn! Staff, the views, breakfast, and the happy hour were all incredible. The happy hour food and drinks rotated each day. There was beer, wine, and liquor (mixed punch usually). The breakfast always consisted of a homemade dish plus staples like muffins, cereal, fruit, and yogurt. The views were spectacular and we're glad we chose the view of the water as we saw countless dolphins. Lastly, the staff were all so kind and made us feel welcome! read more

I usually do not write reviews. But i feel that their lack of response and unconcern to their customer's deserves my time . Regatta website states that if u book directly, they will match a lower price and give an additional 5 % . Also if you booked a room again you would be given a 10 percent discount for returning. I booked direct by Hotel staff and was told they could not give me the lower price that was offered by Booking.com because they could not find it. Yet it was clearly showing on their website. Then I was charged $100.00 more booking directly with them. At check out, we made our concerns known, and it was written down by staff, and we were told they would get back with us. They never did . We decided to try another night as we enjoyed the location and wanted to give them a second chance . We used Booking.com this time. We saved $100.00. We booked an ocean room confirmed by Booking and Regatta. We were given the wrong room, which was a garden view over the parking lot..We found out at check out that the room had been available by their staff. We made our concerns again, and it was written down by staff, and we were told they would get back with us. No one did.. Both different rooms we stayed in had huge wrinkles in the carpet, which needs replacing. Unfortunately, it has come down to us writing this review because Regatta doesn't respond to their customers and doesn't honor the discounts stated on their website. We did receive the 10 percent discount for returning guest. So, in the words of John F Kennedy, fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. Gbye Regatta. read more

We booked this inn for the latter half of our vacation, particularly to celebrate our 5-year anniversary. Upon arriving we were kindly greeted by Paige who got us checked in and told us about the area and we were just in time for the happy hour! We got settled in and came down to enjoy that. The room was nice and clean, we had nice robes to use, and we had a lovely view. The first evening and night was a pleasant experience. Paige let us know that breakfast was from 8am to 10am but she had coffee on a timer if we came down early. (She also told us that another person would be there for the following two days of our stay there.) We did come downstairs a little early thinking we'd enjoy the breakfast area and have a cup of coffee. There was just enough coffee for us to grab a cup, then the pot was empty. We went ahead and made another pot. We got the creamer from the fridge and made our coffee. The creamer in the carafe however was very rancid! We both sipped our coffee and immediately poured it out. I opened the carafe lid and it was indeed bad cream! It also looked like the carafe hadn't been cleaned. I poured out the cream and cleaned the carafe. We, along with a few other guests made friends and chatted while we waited for that day's innkeeper to arrive. She finally did- but not until 8:33am! No real conversation from her, she just started getting breakfast ready. It was finally ready at 9 am. By that time, we had found some Quaker oatmeal packs in a bottom drawer, so we all ate that while we were waiting on her. We let her know about the creamer and if they had any more for the coffee. She replied that "Paige does the shopping and they didn't have more." What? How can a B&B not have backstock of creamer? My husband asked her after breakfast what time breakfast will be for the next morning. She said "8am." The next morning came and once again, she wasn't there until after 8, and breakfast wasn't ready until 8:35am. This is not the type of service and experience I expected from a B&B at all. I've been so torn over writing this review because I can tell the owners have a beautiful vision for this bed and breakfast property, but I don't think there's enough oversight of those who are responsible for making guests comfortable and following through with advertised amenities. read more

I stayed at the Regatta Inn on Friday 4/1 and Saturday 4/2. On Saturday morning, Melody transported me and my friend/ caregiver who was with me, to the Folly Beach County Park via golf cart. I am on crutches and cannot walk. Melody told us to call or text when we were ready to be picked up. At 12:06, I texted the number that texted me at check-in. After no response for a half-hour, I began calling. I called both the text number and the front desk number. I left voicemails on both lines. I called one 5 times, the other 6 times. I texted 2 more times. After no response for 45 minutes, my friend walked the 0.9 miles back to the Inn to get a ride for me since I am on crutches. When she walked up the driveway, she saw Melody sitting in the floorboards of a pick-up truck, talking to a woman who was loading something in the back. Melody asked my friend if we needed a ride back. My friend said yes, and Melody said "You should have texted." My friend told her that I had done that. Melody then said, "Well, you should have called." My friend informed her that I did that, too. at 1:03 pm, I finally get a text back saying "On the way." As soon as I sat down in the golf cart, Melody told me she was making other runs on the golf cart and that it takes 1/2 an hour to transport someone downtown and back. Even if this was true, she should have communicated with me. And the fact that she was not answering the phone or responding to texts, but rather chatting with a friend when a guest with special needs was trying to get in touch with her for almost an hour, is simply unacceptable. When guests are paying a premium to stay in a B&B, they should be treated with a certain level of hospitality. If a service is provided, there should be communication about that service if it cannot be provided in a timely manner. I am extremely disappointed in the experience. read more

We came here for a wedding on Saturday. What a beautiful venue!! It was just perfect for the amount of people that attended and was just a lovely place to be. Only complaint, their neighbors are the WORST!! Who calls the cops on a wedding at 850 on a Saturday night?!!! It was amusing just because, honestly, you did that?! We enjoyed the Regatta Inn this past week while at Folly Beach. The atmosphere is always friendly and the variety of hostess's there to see to breakfasts, happy hour, cookies, etc. provided just what people wanted. This is an intimate inn with only 10 suites.. each having their own private screened-in porch and fireplace. Ours had the western view (sunsets) overlooking the many boats and manatees. As the evenings were a little chilly, the gas fireplace was just what the doctor ordered :). It is about 1 mile from the center of town where many dining options are available. I highly recommend this location to any looking for an accommodating and quiet location.. (no children under 12...) read more

This place was supposed be a magical place for our wedding. We rented the event space out by the inlet, rented a tent (which you must do in order to use the space), and had the whole Inn rented out for our guests. On our wedding day a wind storm came through and the tent could not go up safely (no tent = no event space). We were forced to find another location the day of our wedding because the venue did not have the any other accommodation's that would shield us from the weather. After the wedding we tried to get a partial refund because of the chaos that occurred. The venue was not understanding and told us they would be keeping our $3,000.00 and there was nothing we could do about it. Horrible people to do business with. read more

This Inn is located in a lovely spot right on the Folly River. The rooms are tiny, and unfortunately you can hear everyone who walks by your room. We had the unfortunate experience (which colors this review) of being in the Inn (desk is not manned overnight & proprietor does not live in property) of being awakened at 2 am by a prior guest (assume he was homeless?). After a great deal of shouting & banging the police came to take him to jail. Whew! Ah - and then we're charged for our night. We do not recommend the Regatta Inn at Folly Beach. read more

One night is not enough at the Regatta Inn! What makes this Inn so special is the setting and the amenities. We chose a riverfront room which was so lovely! The rooms a thoughtfully decorated with a nautical theme. The beds are very comfortable and the bathroom was super clean which is one of those things I am so picky about! We loved the screened porch with the comfy Adirondack chairs. Be sure to catch the sunset view on the roof top terrace for a spectacular view! This Inn is a great value when you consider the generous happy hour and breakfast which are included. The happy hour offered their vodka based Folly Punch, beer and wine. There were several nice appetizers to choose from like pigs n blankets, pimento cheese rolls, cheese board and a nice dip and chip selection. The morning breakfast was even more impressive with so many choices for such a small Inn. The choices included scrambled eggs, sausage, fried potatoes, enchilada casserole, assorted pastries, assorted fruits, yogurt and others that I cannot even remember! The icing on the cake was the champagne brought out to make mimosas! Evidently, that is only on Sunday, so lucky us! The staff was great. Holly was the evening host and we enjoyed talking with her. Allie was the morning host and she was so great about giving us ideas for restaurants in Charleston. Allie even gave us a tour of another room to consider for our next visit. We recently had the opportunity to visit Charleston and an impromptu detour to the Folly beach happened. Since it was almost time for sunset, I wanted to use the opportunity and click some pics. A quick Google recommended the Sunset Cay but when we got there we found there was no publicly accessible spots. So I decided to seek permission from the Regatta Inn as it happens to be the first structures on the lane. I met Beth and I can confidently claim that I have never met anyone nicer than her. She not only allowed us to take pics, but also allowed us inside the property to go all the way on the terrace. What goes beyond the normal courtesy and hospitality, was that she brewed coffee for us and served us on the terrace and did not take any money for any of this. Regatta Inn is definitely on my list for when I visit Folly again, because I'm surely coming back. read more

Most amazing place ever and a must stay on Folly Beach. The location alone makes the Regatta fabulous - right next to the marina, dolphins are spotted daily. Also, right around the corner from the Folly Beach park and free beach parking. The rooms are spacious with a screened in porch - our room faced the garden/road and it was still beautiful. Our room had a gas fireplace that we used multiple times a day since the weather was a bit chilly. The fireplace is a fabulous addition to a gorgeous room. Lastly, our room had a whirlpool tub which was heaven sent for this 7 month pregnant lady. Literally in heaven. The Regatta offers breakfast daily as well as a happy hour, both of which are great ways to chat with your hosts and the other guests. And the snacks and breakfast are great! Overall, I can't wait to go back and there is no where else I will stay on Folly Beach. read more

I can't believe that it has taken me two years and two trips to write a review of South Carolina's best kept secret! We have stayed twice, in the off season, for a quiet getaway. There is much attention to detail that I haven't experienced at any other B&B. The rooms are lovely (that BED!), but that view! This time we stayed in The Schooner and the porch faces the marina and you get that evening sunset view. But, sitting on the terrace for happy hour, with wine in hand, is even better. The innkeepers are wonderful and the breakfast is different each morning. Also, keep a lookout for the dolphins! They are an added bonus. As I said, we have stayed twice and have even gifted friends a room for a couple of nights as a treat! If you need to unwind, this is the place. If you want to party, this is also the place, but you need to drive a bit. The restaurants in Folly are fun and we haven't eaten at a bad one yet. You are less than 20 minutes to downtown Charleston and just about anything. I would recommend going to the Folly County Park (which you can see from the terrace) and going to Morris Island Lighthouse (a brisk walk, but worth the trip). Be sure to pack insect repellent for the no-see-ums. Yes, they are a thing. Research Folly Beach if you enjoy history. The "Wash Out", surfers' paradise, was created after Hurricane Hugo in 1989 and it is fun to watch the hundreds surf on busy days. If you like them, eat oysters at Bowens Island. The freshest that this SC girl has ever tasted. We will back again, and again, and again. read more

Lovely place -- hits the perfect balance between boutique hotel and bed and breakfast. My husband booked us in a room here for a birthday get away, and I had never heard of Folly Beach, let alone the Regatta. I was pleasantly surprised! The property is gorgeous: it's on the quiet end of the island facing the sound, with lovely views of the tidal marshes and a marina. All the rooms have balconies, and ours (in the "spinnaker" room) had a great view. Well decorated, clean, and comfortable rooms made everything perfect. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They have a little golf cart that they use to drive you to the beach (or you can walk... it's probably less than a quarter mile to the access point).There's breakfast in the morning (real breakfast too, I loved the french toast casserole!), and a happy hour (er... hours?) every afternoon, with decent wine, "folly punch," and beer. Honestly, free drinks is usually all I need to be happy, but they were great! We met both of the owners while we were staying there (Paul and Ivan). Both were really nice guys, who really seemed to love what they were doing. I definitely recommend this place! read more

We were headed to Charleston for a wedding on a very busy weekend and we wanted to stay somewhere more fun than Holiday Inn so we took a chance and decided to stay on Folly Beach at Regatta Inn. It was the best decision. This beautiful property, with incredible attention to detail and care for its guests is unpretentious, friendly and accommodating, and incredibly fairly priced. It's a true gem. We were greeted with Folly Punch and cool wet towels for the humidity. We were shown to our room where ocean sounds were playing, the decor was perfect, and everything was in working order. Our room was a serene little paradise. We stayed in The Mooring for $170 after taxes, such a deal! We will be back for a romantic weekend. read more

Everyone is so nice and the location is absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the schooner and the sunsets in the afternoon overlooking the water are breathtaking. They serve breakfast every morning and have happy hour in the evenings. It's just a little drive to get to the restaurants on the island, we used Lyft or Uber some which was only around $5. They even had champagne waiting in the room when we arrived for a birthday celebration. I am very happy that we chose to stay here and I can't wait to return!! read more

We love the Regatta Inn! We've stayed here twice for several days and loved it both times! We actually like it better than several more expensive hotels in Charleston. In fact, I think it's my very favorite hotel because it feels like home. The rooms are pristine and modern - they are comfortable without being cluttered. Everything feels (and smells) very clean. All of the innkeepers were fantastic and welcoming, but a real standout was Elaine. My husband adored her homemade macaroni pie. She also very sweetly made a gluten-free breakfast quiche for breakfast the next morning since she knew I had a wheat sensitivity. It was delicious!!! I have to admit breakfast the next two days was disappointing in comparison. I'd love to see her become the head chef. My husband loved the fresh baked cookies. I adored the spinach dip and wine selection. We both love happy hour - largely because the innkeepers and guests are so friendly and interesting. We'd end up spending an hour or more at breakfast and happy hour each day talking to the wonderful people staying at the hotel. I love that we got the B&B experience with more luxury amenities than the traditional experience provides. The coffee was excellent! The hotel felt extremely safe. We walked to the beach one visit. We never felt unsafe in the area. We saw dolphins at breakfast one morning. The breakfast area is perfectly positioned by the river, and if you get up early enough to get one of the window tables you never know what you might see in terms of wildlife. Amenities were great, but be warned that they don't provide conditioner, only shampoo. Be sure to pack conditioner in your suitcase! I didn't one trip and deeply regretted it. We will definitely be staying here again if we ever make it back to Folly Beach. The views of the river and marina are beautiful.
