The Canary Islands is absolutely beautiful but most importantly, Tenerife South has my heart. We…read morestayed at the Iberostar Selecion sabila for two days while on holiday in Europe. The resort is about 15 - 20 minutes away from the airport and it is absolutely breathtaking!! When we arrived, we were greeted by the lovely hotel porter who took our bags and ushered us in to the desk. The staff at the desk began to check us in and provided us with a welcome drink. It took about 30 minutes for all our keys to be prepared, but as soon as that was done, one of the staff members gave us a tour of the resort, which included access to the prestige lounge and private pool on the sixth floor because we were star prestige guests. The lounge had free food and drinks from morning to about 10pm. Afterwards, we got into our rooms and our view was relatively decent. The room was also a good enough size because it had a spacious outdoor patio. Only thing I would have liked is for the bathroom to have been a little bit bigger and more modern. Nonetheless, the room was very comfortable. All the amenities on the resort were top of the line. We got to utilize the gym, the spa, as well as the prestige only cabana area at the main pool. They also had different events going on throughout the day and the evenings. But the best part was the restaurant. Our room came with breakfast, which we took advantage of every morning. We also opted to pay for dinner because the restaurant was that good. The buffet style allowed for you to eat as much as you wanted to, while also enjoying a variety of options. Also, as a star prestige guest, you also had your own dining area in the restaurant. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is visiting Tenerife South. There are so many options for you to choose from regarding your hotel package and also it's an adult only resort. I look forward to coming back!

We recently stayed here on a family vacation, and to be honest, I was seriously disappointed…read more When we checked in we were basically given a room key and not given any additional information (where things were located, the pools, the bars, entertainment, etc.) There were several pools, but no one bothered to mention there is only 1 pool that is heated. That would've been good information to know since the week we were there the weather was unseasonably cool (65 degrees) and our 2 nieces were with us (age 11 & 7). We figured it out 3 days into our stay. None of the bartenders speak English, nor do they want to. Many times we felt that we burdened them by ordering drinks and most of the drinks are pre-mixed out of a machine. The "restaurant" is basically a big cafeteria. They have themed nights (ex. Tuesday is Mexican), which is nice, but a lot of the food tasted the same - like fish. There is a lot to choose from, but not a lot to eat. The best part is the dessert bar. One commenter said the food was '4 star'. I would seriously disagree with that. It was also very frustrating that people we very pushy (throwing elbows) to get past you to the buffet line. We discovered that towels from the room are not allowed to be taken to the pool. If you don't bring your own towels from home, you can rent towels for lounge chairs. It was really nice that the beach was only a 5 minute walk away, and lots of shopping available. We took a few trips while we were there - one to Tiede (which was really nice) and on a boat to do some whale watching (totally worth it!) Bottom line - customer service did not seem to be a priority for the staff, nor was the comfort of guests. I'm glad we went and were able to spend time with our family, but I don't have any desire to go back. If you want a true all-inclusive experience, spend a few extra dollars and go to a Sandals resort. They are so, so much better.

My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton La Caleta for six nights on our honeymoon and thoroughly…read moreenjoyed our stay. Some really nice stuff about this resort: - When we checked in at 10pm on a Monday night, we were offered cold juice while the paperwork was processed and given information about the resort and amenities. - Upgraded to a "Superior Deluxe" room (which is the exact same size as all of the other non-suites, but has a better view) on the 3rd floor due to honeymoon + SPG Gold status. - Room decorated with rose petals and kissing birds upon arrival, plus they sent up a bottle of cava and some chocolate covered strawberries for us, which was a nice touch and really appreciated. - WiFi is complimentary as an SPG Gold member. - air conditioning worked well and kept the room very cold (but it seemed to be a little humid, as papers were not very "crisp") - bathroom was huge and has both a tub and shower. - balcony with chairs and table was nice for relaxing outside as well as drying swimsuits. - buffet breakfast at El Parador (included with the rate) was extremely good: eggs cooked to order every morning, many varieties of fresh pastries and breads, fruits, yogurt, hot dishes, cold meats and cheeses, cereals, and much more. Coffee, juice, milk, and even cava are included as well. - we got 4 complimentary bottles of water each day (2 with room cleaning and 2 with turndown) which was a nice touch. - staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and most spoke very good English. - maintenance staff were constantly cleaning, repainting, and making the property look nice. - pools were very nice. The seawater pool was cold and refreshing and the freshwater pool was heated slightly. Neither pool was very crowded, and it was easy to get chairs/umbrellas. - We had an issue with our safe jamming one night, and between management, security, and maintenance, they had the issue resolved within 20 minutes, including 2 calls for additional people/tools. - The bar downstairs was very nice, they brought us lots of complimentary snacks and treated us well even though we'd just have a single drink and sit there for a while. They have live music on some evenings which was nice. We could hear the music from our balcony (but it wasn't so loud that it disrupted us with the door closed). Not So Good: - WiFi was VERY spotty in the room. It seemed to work ok out on the balcony and next to the door, but was completely unusable at the desk or elsewhere in the room. It did work well out by the pool and downstairs in the lobby, so we ended up taking our phones and iPad down there to use them most of the time. - The hot tub was lukewarm (30ºC) at best and downright cold one day. Only half of the jets worked, and they would turn off after only 5 minutes, requiring someone to go over and press the button again. - We had issues with our keys and it took quite a few trips to the desk to correct the issue (I think they deactivated one when they re-magnetized the other). - Laundry was kind of expensive, even for a resort... their "go fresh package" which is available 2 days before departure was €15/kg, so I shudder to think what their normal rate is. I couldn't find any information on any laundromats nearby. Other notes: - There's a small shopping area right near the hotel, across from the H10 next door which has a convenience store (HiperDino) and a restaurant which was pretty good (Jade Stone). - It's a 10 minute walk to La Caleta which has a bunch of nice restaurants and cafes, and a 15 minute walk along the beach/"boardwalk" to Adeje which is the more touristy area. - It's a 2 minute walk to the small rocky beach outside the hotel, and a 10 minute walk to the really nice (man-made) Duque beach. Both have rock-wall barriers to keep the waves at a manageable level and are nice for swimming/tanning. - The hotel is really far (about an hour) from the north airport (TFN). We booked our transfers through Suntransfers which was the cheapest I found, and it was about €80 each way plus tip. Overall we had a very nice, relaxing time and the Sheraton La Caleta helped make our honeymoon an unforgettable experience. If we ever return to Tenerife, we'll stay there again without a doubt.

I understand it is a general problem on the Island, but 5* hotel needs to implement a better pest control. Also Internet in the Business Center does not work very well (we were disconnected many times).

***This is a review of my all-inclusive stay***…read more Check in: - Big parking lot, easy to find a space - Quickly greeted by doorman and luggage whisked away to Grand Salome, which I did not know was a separate component of Anthelia - Butler guided us to the Grand Salome area and offered us cava and champagne while we checked in The room: - Bright and beachy, lots of open space - Appreciated the welcome gift of a baseball cap and beach bag - Absolute abundance of alcohol in room, from hard liquor with mixers and three bottles of wine - Nightly cover turndown with chocolate - Appreciated the dessert surprises each day Dining: - Loved Mirador for breakfast. Unbeatable views while sipping freshly squeezed orange juice the moment we sat down, extensive menu of savory and sweet dishes, also enjoyed the treat of the day prepared tableside (stacked pancakes, caviar toast, phyllo pastry with apple compote to name a few) - Favorite restaurant was by far Poseidon. Cream of cauliflower with scallop carpaccio, duck, and chocolate temptation were unforgettable. - Loved getting to try Canarian cuisine at Portofino for lunch. Would not miss the lobster paella! - Portions are very generous for Portofino dinner Amenities: - While a small outdoor gym with a few weights and cardio machines was located outside our room in Grand Salome, the larger gym had a power rack and a covered component with cable machines and free weights that we preferred - Infinity pool seemed to be more popular than the main pool - Loved that poolside mid-afternoon we would be offered bowls of fresh fruit Other thoughts: - Adored Pablo and Joselin, who were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They really made the stay next level, getting us reservations for dinner to recommending attractions. - Grand Salome has such an exclusive, luxurious feel as it is an access-only section of the greater resort Impression: one of my top hotel experiences ever, highly recommend to anyone spending time in Tenerife!
