    Red Level - Lounge
    Moritz H.

This review is for the "Red Level" area of the hotel. It's designed to be more quiet and relaxing. No children are allowed in the area. The suites are more luxurious then the regular rooms in the other parts of the hotel. The room (or Demi Suite as they call it) with partial ocean view (I was able to see it from pretty much everywhere in the room) - 50 sqm of upscale furniture and materials. Nice attention to details and a great private balcony. Spacious bathroom with a shower and a large bathtub (there is the option to upgrade to a private jacuzzi on the balcony as well), a separate bidet and toilet. A standard equipped minibar with reasonable prices, free water and a Nespresso machine. Great bed with an extensive pillow menu to choose from. A aroma menu to have different scents in the room. Satellite TV with a lot of channels (no sound system). A dining area and a couch. The services - from refilling the ice in the room to booking private tours they offer everything one could ask for. Turndown service. Private check in and check out. A butler service. A well equipped business center. Free pressing of 2 pieces of clothes a day. A pool concierge with free drinks and fruit all day long. And of course room service (not overly expensive). All of the trips they offer to book for you have the transportation already included which is very convenient. Wifi is free anywhere in the hotel. The speeds are good (15 down 15 up). The facilities - the "Red Level" area has its own swimming pool (not crowded and big enough). There are several other pools, jacuzzis and the beach (black sand) is just a short walk away. The resort's has the larger swimming pool in Europe, the "Infinity Pool". It's a huge saltwater pool which is located in front of the hotel and has a beautiful view of the ocean and the island of Gomera. There are a ton (8) restaurants in the resort. If you have booked half board or full board you can choose from any of the restaurants (with priority booking). The choice of foods is great. Everything from fresh seafood to Japanese cuisine is offered (my absolute favorite was La Terrace - best atmosphere and fresh seafood). There are two restaurants to choose from for breakfast. The Spa - I got 2 voucher (2x 30€) for the Spa upon arrival. Very nice facilities with a lot of treatments to choose from. Kids are allowed until noon so going there after lunch is highly recommended. The prices are average for the treatments but it's worth the money. The area - the resort is located at the little fisherman's village of Alcala. The village is just 5 minutes by foot from the hotel. It offers nice little restaurants and supermarkets. There is a ocean walk along the shore line so one can walk for hours and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The port is only 40 minutes by foot (great little hike along some nice trails). From pretty much everywhere in the resort there is a beautiful view of the ocean and Gomera. The staff - very attentive and hearty. You feel very welcome from arrival until departure. The butler service makes it a bit more special especially at check in. Having someone who explains everything in and around the room to you is very nice. The prices - it's the services you pay extra for. And it's absolutely worth it. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for relaxation and a little luxury. Period.

WORSE NIGHT OF MY LIFE WITH ROACHES IN MY ROOM The first night i arrived at the Melia Palacio de Isora i stayed in room 3130 my family inmediately realized how dirty the room was. It had dirty hair and dry old contact lenses around the bed, but ..the first incident was a roach in the bathroom door around 3am that i had to kill while i went to use the bathroom. The only reason i didn't scream was because the time in the night and i didnt want to complaint since i know some of the people that work at the hotel. The second night getting back from dinner around 11pm there was a party of roaches in my room, i called front desk and they sent two men two my room with roach spray, they sprayed around the room and i started getting headaches immediately, thats not to be sprayed in a room enclosed. They offered to moved me to a different room passing midnight which i did. I had to pack everything and unpack again to find out when i get ready to close the curtain that the sun shade was missing so the light would come in the morning not to mention it was a worse room than the one i had, at 1:30 am i was the hotel lobby to move rooms again for a second time. I was moved to another room 2153 to find out bloody sheets on my bed. at that point i was so tired at 2am and so done with the staff that i just decided to stay until the morning and not unpack. I lost the money for my excursion next day, because i couldn't sleep at all. woke up with a headache and migraines which i suffer from. Now im stranded here with no migraine medicine, and having to go to local doctor. The hotel staff claimed it was normal for roaches to be in the island and in my room since it was close to the garden. They acted like it was all normal at that time of the night to be changing rooms three times. I should have never stayed here, and i should have gone with my first choice the Ritz Carlton Abama. You can never go wrong with them. If you are planning to come to Tenerife dont stay at this hotel, I was recommended to stay here and worse decision, looks beautiful but not the cleanest hotel around and not the service you would expect from a 5 star hotel and not the best way to handle customers problems. They finally changed me to a different room after been to three rooms in one night. If you want to stay with Melia, i would suggest Jardines del Teide i stayed here my first night and their service will surpass this hotel as far as the way they treated me with everything.

The Res Level service is good. The staff is nice and they are always willing to help you at any time. The rooms and nice and spacious but you can hear everything from the room next door. And I mean everything, literally... The pool is nice but you need to arrivw around 8 am to leave a book on a deck chair If you want to have a place. People just go there around that time, leave a book on the deck chair they like and don't come back until 11 or so. I believe the hotel should not allow this behaviour. A good option is going to the beach that is close by. The deck chairs at that beach and the umbrellas are free for the Red Level guests and usually the beach is less crowded than the pool. Breakfast at the Red Level terraza is nice and you can choose among differenr options. The other restaurants at the hotel are not good at all and are very expensive. A goos option is to have lunch at the bar on the beach near by or to go to Souco, an italian restaurant in front of the sea one minute walking from the hotel. The spa is not in accordance withe the price.

I don't think we've ever visited a more stunning resort. The Ritz redefines luxury and sets a new standard for what a resort should be. From the moment we arrived -- where we were welcomed by name at the gate -- we were treated like royalty. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel special every moment. It's the attention to detail: twice-daily housekeeping, swift room service and concierge responses, their own locally sourced water bottle, the car valet guys also being on top of it... the list goes on. The property is simply breathtaking. There are several pools, including an adults-only one, multiple restaurants (including a Michelin-starred option), stunning ocean views, a breakfast that outshines any hotel we've ever stayed at, and even a private beach, where guests are taken down via the hotel's cable car. Every corner of the resort exuded luxury. We mentioned we were getting married during our stay, not expecting much, but the staff went above and beyond to make our special day even better. From balloons and desserts delivered to our room to coming back from the ceremony and finding "I love you" spelled out in rose petals on our bed -- the service was on another level. Thank you, Abama staff, for making our stay unforgettable. We can't wait to return!

Arrived to find the sea view from the balcony blocked by view of the rear of the swimming pool and pool bar store and pump room, with no sea view from inside the room - ludicrous Reception staff completely inert and unhappy to deal with the matter. Sub-management are kicking the issue down the alley with only a promise something might be able to be changed but repeat they are not prepared to deal with things today or the following day. Read your small print and research your room specification, if you try to deal with things locally good luck. They have so far upset things in what was supposed to be a compassionate week away leaving us to live out of our suitcases and provide fully what we paid for and we are almost now half way through our time away despite raising this within an hour after arriving.  Feel like we have been scammed whilst paying to upgrade and not receiving a superior room with a sea view instead a partial sea view with a building blocking the view.

My refigirator was not very cold, so I called the reception. Within 5 minutes someone came to my room, and 5 minutes later they installed a new fridge. Great! Some points for improvemend. It's too bad that there is no free wifi in the hotel. Now, you have to pay 25 euro per week PER DEVICE! That's rediculous. I bought a mobile wifi and a Spanish SIM-card. I was too annoyed to take the hotel wifi. All inclusive, without wifi is rediculous nowadays. Hope they correct this mistake this very week. Last point: hope they stop playing loud music at the swimming pool. Ans I am not going to pay a few euros a day to use the safe in my room.

My only complaint was the temperature issue. The rooms don't have air conditioning. They rely on cross ventilation from the tiny window in the bathroom. We we're able to rent an air conditioned for about 70 euros for the week, but it wasn't all that effective. The airlines just recently started flying direct to the island from the US. Hopefully, with the ability to have more Americans, the owner will update the cooling system. (us Americans are spoiled when it comes to air conditioning)

I had booked a 1-bedroom apartment but was allocated a studio apartment with a pull down bed. Within the first hour in the apartment I was nearly electrocuted when the kettle leaked all over the kitchenette floor while switched on and, as if by magic, a maintenance man turned up at the door with a new kettle; obviously it was a known fault with the kettle that nobody saw fit to warn us about. Our apartment was right at the front by the sea, not part of the main hotel, and as such the balcony was on the same level as the sun terrace. It was unfortunate for us that the timeshare reps chose this terrace to hold their very noisy, rebel rousing, breakfast sales meetings every single morning. It was impossible to have a lay in as we had to have the sliding doors open to let the air in as there was no air con and the front door overlooked the alleyway where all the cleaners congregated for their early morning break so we were bombarded by noise from all directions. Also the catch on the balcony doors was hanging off where it had been previously forced, which did nothing to instil a feeling of security. The maintenance man denied that this was faulty even when the catch came away in his hand. The management did nothing to rectify any of the complaints. The restaurant was quite good and had quite a varied menu but we would have appreciated a bit more rest.
