Hampton Inn. It was the worst Hotel experience I've ever had. Every room smelled horrible. A/C…read moredidn't work properly in any of the 8 rooms we had for this conference. The attendant came up and said "Oh, I thought the replaced all of these old thermostats" you couldn't even press the buttons. then says we cand control it from downstairs. Really? Sounds like the hotel is cutting cost by not allowing guests to control the temp in their own rooms. No fresh towels for 2 days. Called down to the front desk to request towels and got no answer. Went down to the front desk and the only staff member had the desk phones muted or off so they didn't have to hear customers complain and was just playing on their own cell phone. One hotel attendant even told us that they're not sure why Hampton/ Hilton has not pulled their contract because they haven't passed a Quality control visit from corporate. The wall paper on several floors was peeling and it looked like mold behind it. The Carpet in the hallways looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. Only 1 Elevator worked but wouldn't open at the 10th floor and would take you all the way back to the first floor EVERY TIME!!! I just started going to the 9th floor then walking up one flight of stairs. How does this elevator pass inspection if the door doesn't open on the selected floor. What if there was an emergency? EMS or Police are not coming to the 10 floor until the figure that out. I looked at the inspection Certificate in the elevator just to make sure and it had been inspected in the fall of 2025 but shouldn't someone look into this from a safety aspect? Then....The door to our room was a problem as well. You had to slam it to get it to shut. So we were out late with some of our conference attendees and when we come in the guests in the room across from us got angry with us when we woke them up because we had to slam the door to shut it. Of course we apologized and tried to be as gentle as possible but when another guest gets upset with us for the poor condition of the hotel it just makes me angry as well. NOT WORTH THE BAD EXPERIENCE!!! ZERO STARS IF THAT WAS AN OPTION.

Ambiance & Vibe: This place has a whole vibe! It's a beautiful boutique-style hotel that blends historic charm with a modern, upscale feel. From the lobby to the rooftop, everything feels thoughtfully designed and perfect for a grown, relaxed atmosphere. Location: You really can't beat the location--right in the heart of downtown Montgomery, within walking distance to restaurants, bars, and the riverfront. Perfect if you like to explore without having to drive everywhere. Rooms & Comfort: The rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable--giving that elevated hotel experience. It's a great place to unwind after a long day out. Service: Overall, the staff is friendly and welcoming, giving that Southern hospitality feel many guests appreciate. Extras: The rooftop bar is definitely a highlight--great atmosphere, nice views, and a perfect spot to grab a drink and relax. Only thing missing that I would have loved was a pool or jacuzzi. Here's our experience. 1) Check-In: It's easy to book and check in was a breeze. There were enough staff and they move efficiently. 2) Rooms: I was in Room 119 on the ground floor. It's a more small room, but the high ceiling made it look bigger. The room comes with a more spacious bathroom. There's ample closest space, an iron, a safe, coffee maker, and complimentary water bottles. 3) Amenities: There's no pool, but there's a sizable gym, lobby with bookcases and murals, a restaurant, and rooftop bar. If you go to the rooftop bar, it may be confusing to get a seat. We went two different nights to an empty bar and both times the servers were hesitant to seat us. 4) Area: It's downtown and walkable to many museums, but there aren't as many good bars and restaurants in the area.

I stayed with a roommate at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa from Jan 7, 2026 to Jan 8, 2026…read moreas part of a Road Scholar tour program. It was the most luxurious of the three hotels in the program. Photos shown include our room 317. The room included two queen beds, a reasonably large desk, a door to an adjoining room, two religious literature (a Gideons' Holy Bible, and The Book of Mormon) in the nightstand, ample closet space, and "high-tech" light switches that required some head-scratching to use them. The bathroom had both a bathtub and a shower stall. I used the latter. The bed pillows were fluffier than those of Hyatt Place Atlanta/Buckhead, so I needed just one to sleep on. I had to contact front desk and maintenance staff for a "Do Not Disturb" sign as the room did not have one. Sadly, it did not prevent room service from entering the room the next day to make the beds and re-fluff the pillows. My sleep was not impacted but my impression of the overall service was. On the first night, our group went to a private room for dinner. We walked from one end (where our rooms were) to the other end of the hotel. Food was catered in-house as evidence by the serving staff in their hotel uniforms. On both mornings, we had breakfast at The House. It was buffet style with plenty of choices and plentiful in volume. Since we had coupons, we didn't have to pay a cent. However, I didn't give my coupon to the waiters both times and still ate for free. But I sat with my fellow group members so it wasn't an issue. For second day's dinner, I ordered mozzarella sticks to go from The House. It was pricier than I would like, but it kept me fed. There was only one laundry room and it was located on the second floor. It was free of charge but access to the room required the room key. I did my laundry on the morning of the second day. Did not have any issues with the washer or the dryer. It was nice of the hotel to provide a small lounging area just outside the laundry room where I waited until my laundry's done. The laundry room had two microwaves. Don't ask me why they were there. I'd have put them where the vending machines and the ice machines are. I did not try the spa. There wasn't sufficient time and the high price tag was enough reason not to. Nor did I patronize the performing arts venue adjoining the hotel. But there were plenty of lounging areas throughout the first and second floors. The one that I used for a private Zoom meeting was on the second floor, and had plenty of distance away from foot traffic for a reasonable expectation of privacy. If it was entirely up to me, I would not choose the Renaissance. It's out of my price range and I can easily find less expensive choices nearby. However, the stay was mostly pleasant especially when covered by the tour program. If you're willing to pay the price, it's worth it.

I stayed here for a week to attend a meeting in Montgomery…read more The staff was exceptional. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy, and every staff member I interacted with was friendly. The room was wonderful. Very, very quiet. I never heard any of my neighbors or any traffic in the hallway. This has to be one of the quietest rooms I've ever stayed in, anywhere. It was clean upon arrival, and there were no weird smells or other oddities. One ding that made the stay much less bearable was the "smart" thermostat. Kudos to the chain for wanting to do something green and eco friendly, but seriously? Putting a smart thermostat in the living room? During the night, regardless of how you set it, it will go back to "away" mode. And of course, if you put it in the bedroom, it won't notice traffic in the living room. I enjoy sleeping in a cooler room, like 67 or so. Going to bed with the thermostat set to that and waking up to 73 was not enjoyable in the least. Once I figured out the trick, if I had to get up for a midnight run to the john, I'd give the thermostat some "activity" and all was good then. I enjoy having the fan running all night for white noise. The HVAC had this ability, but it was so quiet, it wasn't really worth it. Not a big deal though, since the room was pretty darn quiet overall. Plenty of hot water for the shower. Never ran out, never had low pressure. The pillows were all super soft. I'm seeing a trend with this. Seems like every stay I've had recently in hotels has featured soft pillows. Attention, hotel chains! Some of us like a firmer pillow. Mix it up maybe? With 4 pillows on the bed, maybe make 2 soft and two a bit more on the firm side? Plenty of outlets including USB ports, too. Super nice touch there. Since this was a Homewood Suites, there was a full sized fridge/freezer in the room, along with a microwave, stove, dishwasher, and kitchen sink. A set of utensils, plates, and glasses were also available. If you were staying here long term, you wouldn't have to go out to eat every night. The breakfast was good, no complaints there at all. The hotel has an outdoor pool, gym, and there are printers available. There's also a little barbecue area near the pool and an outside fireplace that appeared to be gas. One of the elevators needed a little maintenance, as the floor was damaged and needed to be replaced. There was also some minor repair needed in my room, with a towel hook falling off the wall and a leaking faucet in the tub/shower. There are definitely plenty of places to eat nearby. For longer term stays, shopping spots as well. Overall, the say was quite pleasant. I'd stay here again anytime.
