The location is great, and the room itself was fine, but the overall experience was frustrating...especially for a hotel charging $244 a night. When I checked in, my room was dirty. There was trash everywhere, including used pads in the bathroom, and the bed sheets looked messy and unmade. I politely asked a housekeeping employee if the room could be cleaned while I was out working, and she seemed irritated and wa rude about the request. Things got even more frustrating later that night. I returned to the hotel around 1:30 a.m. after work, and my room key suddenly didn't work. When I went downstairs, the front desk employee told me I wasn't checked in and said there were no rooms available. I explained that I obviously had been checked in because I already had a key and all of my belongings were in the room. Eventually, she gave me another key and let me back in. Then the next morning, the manager knocked on my door asking who I was, which just added to the confusion and inconvenience. Also, just something to be aware of: it's an older building, so you can hear people walking around pretty clearly from the rooms above. That part didn't bother me personally, but it may bother lighter sleepers. For the price, I expected a much smoother and cleaner experience. read more

I had to stay here for a week for a teacher seminar. These rooms were huge and very spacious. The only thing I wish they had was better lighting inside once the sun went down. It was really hard to see. They had lots of fun breakfast items each morning. And it was very convenient around everything that had to offer in Montgomery. The staff was super friendly and we were always able to use the conference room whenever we needed it. I would totally recommend staying here again. read more

The location is perfect. Very close to The Legacy Museum, dining, bars, and the Riverfront. Check in was a let down. Our room was not ready until approximately 5:50pm so this pushed back the rest of our evening which I was hoping to avoid since myself and 9 others were in town for the Selma to Montgomery relay race. We had an early morning wake up to get to the starting line. I made a reservation for 3 people but we only had enough towels and wash cloths in our room for 2 people. Since the phone in our room didn't work, I had to go down to the front desk to request towels. The upside was they had the readily available and we didn't have to wait for them to be delivered to our room. The mini fridge and microwave was put to good use and I appreciated the ice machine on the 4th floor. The morning of our race, the front desk attendant was gracious enough to get us hot water to make cups of tea to go. Thank you!!!!! My only beef is, though I checked in on Monday, by Wednesday evening, housekeeping still hadn't visited my room, even to replenish the all-important coffee. The supply was down one pod when I checked in!:) I don't care about fresh towels and sheets. But the top sheet and blanket on the bed aren't quite big enough to tuck in on all three sides, so it's chaos every morning. Would've been nice if someone had made it at least once. Platinum Elite member here, and this was one of the worst Marriott stays I've had -- especially disappointing for a downtown property that should set the standard. Room 235 had a brick wall view, mold and mildew in the shower, and a strong odor. I requested towels, toiletries, and help with a freezing TV at check-in. Despite multiple confirmations in the Marriott app, nothing was delivered until 30 minutes before checkout, which made it useless. When I asked for a late checkout, the staff finally responded on my departure day with: "Ms. Harris, yes your checkout is today. We can extend to no later than 1pm." It felt like I was inconveniencing them just for asking -- even though late checkout is a Platinum benefit. This hotel failed in cleanliness, service, responsiveness, and loyalty recognition. Marriott Downtown locations should showcase the brand's best -- this one completely missed the mark. read more

It's a great location in a historical building with cool architectural details. I don't think there are any rooms in this hotel that look exactly the same. The developer in charge of the renovation of this space actually worked with historians to preserve the historical features. I was blown away by the amount of sunlight coming from these enormous red brick windows. The coolest part is that the high ceilings have wood beams, and reach a height of about 16 feet. I reserved a single King Suite with a river view (Room 410). It was a very spacious room! There's a microwave and a refrigerator to the right when you first walk into the room. There's a Keurig coffee machine near the flat screen TV. Everything looked modern and new. The furnishings are from West Elm. The bathroom was clean and bright. There are bath gel, shampoo, and conditioner wall dispensers that are conveniently located in the shower stall. They have blackout window curtains that work almost too well. The room gets super dark with the high ceiling. There was a MGM Biscuits playoff game the first night I was there, and the curtains totally blocked out the huge LED field lighting. As for sound, I think I may have heard the train horn faintly in the background once or twice. I normally wear earplugs, but I never had to use them the entire time I stayed at this hotel. The room also stayed cool the entire time. I never had to adjust the temperature. The hotel staff were all friendly & helpful. Checking in was a breeze. Typically check-in time is at 4:00 pm. I arrived early, but fortunately my room was ready. Breakfast is included with your room fee. It's more like a continental breakfast with a few hot breakfast options. You can make your own waffle, or get some scrambled eggs and bacon. I'd say it was an average breakfast. I wanted to give a 5 star review, but unfortunately I didn't get any housekeeping services. The reservation confirmation said that guests will receive housekeeping every other day. I stayed there for 3 nights and didn't get that service. They did set me up with 3 sets of towels, and I'm grateful for that. Other than that, it was a beautiful and comfortable stay. The only good things were the size of the Suite and the breakfast. The first time the shower was used, it flooded the bathroom. we were told it was a structural problem in the hotel and our room could not be changed. Several hours later we could change and moved ourselves. However, we realized there were no waste baskets in the room and we repeatedly told the desk clerks to have the service staff bring baskets when they cleaned the room. in the four days we were there, no one cleaned the room, no baskets appeared. The bedspreads were torn on most corners, and toget shampoo, conditioner and bath soap, we had to get a porter to go to a basement. The front desk often had no staff there or the adjoining office. Marriott central could not take the complaint because the reservation was made through Expedia. we made this reservation because previous reviews were positive. But I would suggest going elsewhere for what we paid. read more

The breakfast was decent, but the staff was overwhelmed by the number or people eating and had a hard time keeping up with stocking food and cleaning. I've wanted to stay in this hotel for a while because I appreciate that they maintained the original structure and share the history of the building. The rooms have character and are unique. We were lucky and had room 225 and 325. Both had the look of the image used for 2 room suite, 2 Queen(s), Trundle bed. I kinda disagree with the two-room description because there wasn't a door separating the rooms. But, you can't see each other without walking around a wall that is the width of the large bathroom. Both rooms had TVs. The pictures on the Marriott website don't seem to reflect the massive ceiling height we had in our room. I hope mine help. I didn't valet my car and the valet attendant pointed me to a parking garage across from the stadium for Montgomery Biscuits. It was a couple minute walk and $6 per exit from the garage--so easy. When I looked out my window, I saw one entry to The Alley. There isn't a restaurant or bar in the hotel, but you can walk across the street and enjoy one of the many restaurants and bars in The Alley. There are so many options in the blocks surrounding the restaurant. I did have a little trouble finding a meal at 8:45pm on a Thursday night. Every restaurant in the area was closing at 9pm and I ended up ordering on DoorDash. During the week, you need to plan on being at a restaurant by 8pm. It's a great spot with hotel rooms that you won't find anywhere else. There are Historic Markers and Museums that you pass in loop of the area next to the hotel. We were there for a few days and I don't have a negative thing to say. This was my 6th visit to this property. Everytime there is a registration issue. I thought my wife reserved a different Martiott property. After arriving with a reservation in the system for weeks there were no rooms available. Previous encounters include being assigned preoccupied rooms. Also, the weekend housekeeping is basically non existent. Public trash areas are overflowing. The front desk staff is typically courteous and as professional as to be expected considering the circumstances. A great location, but in a terrible predicament. read more

Where to begin? Valet parking is only $4 cheaper than driving over to the Renaissance and asking for them to park it in a secure location. And also get it in a timely fashion. The rooms are ok, but any movement from anyone above you with the vintage wooden decor will sound like the driest rocking chair at Cracker Barrel with a sound stage and microphone. Because of the price (especially on the weekends) it attracts people that use it as a theater and entertainment center, loudly laughing, talking and stomping around as if no one else is in the building. (But in their hotel rooms of course) Don't forget about the newest release of Godzilla / Jurassic world turned up as high as it can go on the TV! Too loud for your tastes on a weekend late in the evening (10pm+)? Too bad, and no. Don't expect to moved to another room either or get an apology. The front desk is going to look at you with the blank stare and let you know that he'll "Ask his coworker if something can be done." The line gets even more humorous the second night in a row with the same people that are causing issues. But don't fret, it's the night shift and not their problem after a few hours, but thanks for the cash though. Huge tip. Stay as far out from the city as you possibly can. My suggestion, off exit 11. I do NOT recommend this hotel. While the staff were nice, they were not responsive and the facility is poorly maintained. It is in a good location. The first room we were given had one light that didn't work, and a filthy dirty couch. I could have overlooked that, but the handle on the toilet was broken and it wouldn't flush so we asked for a different room. The second room also had a light that would not work (the one between the two beds making it almost impossible to see anything in the bedroom area), and a filthy dirty couch, but the toilet worked, so we didn't ask for another room. We asked, three times, for them to replace the bulbs or repair the broken light, but over three days and two nights, it never happened. We also noticed that several other room fixtures (like the faucet in the sink, and the towel hook in the bathroom) were not properly attached and were loose or not useable. The room was also strangely laid out and even though the TV swiveled, it was not possible to view it directly (no matter how it was swiveled) in either the beds or from the filthy couch or the desk. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable. But I don't recommend staying there unless the place gets a major overhaul read more

Room wasn't very clean upon check in, which was communicated to housekeeping. This morning I found a cockroach on the bathroom floor! I was supposed to stay an additional night, but immediately packed my stuff in I check out. The assistant manager told me that I could change rooms and I told her "no, because the reviews mentioned the building having roaches". I told her that I'm allergic to roaches and that I couldn't stay. (Additionally, cockroaches are a health safety issue!). The assistant manager told me that I would still be charged for the night that I wouldn't be staying. I emailed the general manager and I'm awaiting a response. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this establishment! We were visiting Montgomery for a long weekend and happened upon this hotel. We were blown away by the historic architecture and welcoming entry. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the beds were very comfortable. The location was amazing! We were in walking distance to food, museums, the ball park (Montgomery Biscuits) and the riverfront. The only area that was a let down was that breakfast was not the best tasting. Stayed at this property recently and was immediately impressed by the exterior and the location. A beautiful spot in downtown Montgomery next to the Biscuit's stadium and steps away from bars, restaurants, and the Riverwalk area. However, the website suggests that parking is free but there are approximately 15 free parking spots in front of the hotel. The rest are metered from 8:00am to 5:00pm. There were many many people (like me) out at 8:00 am putting change into their meter. The lobby is lovely. We arrived at the room and were initially wowed by the high ceilings and exposed beams. I really like the bathroom design too. Then things started to unravel. The couch in the living room area was very deep and we both agreed it was pretty uncomfortable. There wasn't a remote control for the TV in the bedroom. The worst thing was the "master" switch. Both switches next to the door operated as master switches for the entire sweet. So if they were off no lights (other than bedside) worked. Fine. Except they also solely controlled the living room overhead lights. No door separates the living space from the bedroom. Here's how that played out, Either: -sleep with with the living room lights on and shining into the bedroom area so that you can turn the bathroom light on if you need to get up in the middle of the night. -having the living room lights off during the night but not be able to turn on the bathroom light if you need to get up in the middle of the night. Not great options for folks who may get up at night. I tried calling the front desk to see if I was misunderstanding the switches (after trying every variation countless times), but the front desk was consistently busy. I find this franchise Marriott hotel to be completely unethical and not customer focused. I lodged a complaint with Marriott Corporate about this hotel and their practices. They charge a penalty fee of a full night room rate plus fees if you check out before your reserved stay. I stayed 3 nights and had to leave 1 day early for a family issue. They charged me this penalty and the GM Debbie was very abrasive and quite nasty! As a lifelong Marriott Platinum Elite /Titanium I expect more and certainly better customer service. This property is gouging business customers post Covid....bc they lost money the last 2 years. I'm quite certain they resold this room and charged me and another guest both $400 plus and doubled their $$$... shameful and not in alignment with Marriott values. This seemingly brand new hotel/converted warehouse is a gem. As an Ambassador Elite, I spend way too many nights (100+/yr) at Marriott properties and this one stacks up against them all! This hotel is located a block from downtown and two blocks from the Riverwalk. It is conveniently located directly across the street from the Legacy Museum (very impressive as well). Tip: try and stay in a room with the 20' ceilings and authentic wood beams throughout. The rooms are tastefully decorated with art indigenous to the Montgomery area. Here I am again. Severely disappointed in something that should be wonderful. The area is nice. The building is nice. But looks ain't everything. The lack of sound deadening between room is very disturbing and apparently it's normal for rooms to be rented to 10 or 12 people that have those loud jumpy slammmy parties all night. I asked the people to chillski a little and it got worse. Multiple calls to the front desk didn't do shitski. I left at 3 am. I can assure all that I will never again use this establishment. About 4 blocks of buildings was where kidnapped slaves had been packed in like cattle. Not a good feeling to know that horrible things happened in that exact building. read more

First let me state that I am a native from Montgomery, AL, but now live in South Florida. I booked three rooms here for my son's wedding. One for my elderly parents, one for my other son and one for myself and my husband. The first disappointment we had was when we pulled up to what was "supposed" to be Valet Service. Im not sure anyone explained to this young man what that meant. He sat behind his stand and did not move an inch. We had to ask him if he would be so kind to help us unload, seeing we had a lot of stuff for the wedding weekend. Well, I guess that was too much to ask. Then we asked him if he could leave our car in front because we had our son's rehearsal dinner that we were giving and we would be leaving in an hour. Needless to say, we had to wait on our car because he parked it in the garage down the street and we were late to our own dinner. 2nd disappointment- my parents room had a tv that did not work, the staff told them they would have to call the cable company to try to get it to work. (My parents NEVER had TV the whole weekend). Also, I found out the next morning that they did not even have a comforter on their bed - just a top sheet. They nearly froze to death! 3rd disappointment- my husband and I's room did not have a functioning toilet. I had to go to the front desk at midnight and ask for a plunger. Well, that was a waste of time, it DIDNT WORK all weekend. So when we needed to go to the bathroom, we would have to go 4 doors down to my son's room to use the bathroom. 4th disappointment - the so called "breakfast" that was included in our stay. My father went to get a bowl of cereal and the milk was frozen, he had to put it in the microwave for it to even pour out. The bfast was still being brought out around 8:30am. 5th disappointment- the staff! They were not professional at all, always had an excuse to cover up the crappy service. How do you as an employee of Springhill Suites not know the name of the person who is parking cars for the guest of the hotel???? They definitely need more training in the "hospitality" department. I will say that Corey- who works the night shift was the only exception. He was helpful and tried to do anything he could to try to help. The hotel is beautiful, I must say....but the service, amenities (not even a complimentary bottle of water in the rooms) is a 0 out of 10. Following a hotel stay, I typically get an email from the parent company asking for a review of my stay. I expected such an email from Marriott Bonvoy following my stay June 12 at the SpringHill Suites. I didn't get one, and I understand why. Rarely have I seen a hotel with such unfulfilled potential be such a disappointment. Let's start with the potential. The hotel is in a great area, across from the minor league ballpark, close to the convention center and auditorium, close to museums, reputable restaurants and respectable nightlife. The building itself is an old, repurposed factory from a bygone day. Interesting photos, equipment and documents are prominently placed, and the shape and design of the building keeps it from being the same old boring rectangle. The rooms are nice, spacious, clean, and well-kept (kudos to housekeeping). The price is reasonable IF the potential is met. Alas, that is not the case. I understand that the hospitality industry is currently understaffed. However, there is no excuse for there being no one at a check-in desk with no indication of when someone might be there. I waited 13 minutes from the time I arrived in the lobby until someone arrived at the desk. I had left home extra early to check-in early because the web site indicated I could. I was informed when the person FINALLY got to the desk that, well, that's just a request. If there is not a possibility that the "request" is fulfillable, that should be indicated on the website or communication should be made via email, text, or phone. "Breakfast" was only available by order. Supposedly a Covid victim, although this too was not Indicated either in the app or on the website. We were told by the front desk that Saturday breakfast was from 7:00-9:30. We were there at 8:30. What was advertised on the website as a full breakfast buffet was instead the possibility of a rubbery omelet and a sausage patty. They were out of oatmeal, juice, and anything else. They were also out of coffee, which the attendant apparently did not know until I told her. She seemed exasperated with me and/or other patrons. A few people came a few minutes after we got there, and they were told that they were all out of food. In sum, the building is great, and the check-out staff Sunday morning nearly made up for the check-in experience. This place has all the possibility in the world. The check-in person and the breakfast attendant seemed to consider patrons an intrusion in their lives. Those two and the paucity of the most minimal accoutrements are NOT good reflections on management. For this I paid over $175.00. Had I used the suggested valet parking, it would have been over $200.00. It won't happen again. Suggestion: Just down the street is an Embassy Suites for about the same money. I have stayed there in the past and have really enjoyed it. I chose SpringHill this time because I was going to the minor league game (highly recommended, by the way) and SpringHill was closer. Next time, I'll walk a block or so more. read more

Checked in for our third stay in this hotel. First time, everything was immaculate. Second time AC issues. This time, upon entering our room the first thing wow saw a pile of hair on the desk. Then we noticed the floor was dirty. We went to the front desk to request a different room. The young man at the front desk, very nice, explained that he had a clean room, but there was ketchup high up on a wall that he could get a ladder and clean. After 7 hours in the car, that was the least of our worries. Also there was no sweetener or sugar in room for morning coffee, no trash can in the bathroom and no bag for dirty laundry. We also noticed that the hallway floors had not been vacuumed. We love to stay in the neighborhood when passing through Montgomery, but this place needs some TLC. read more

Wow! If you will be staying in Montgomery, AL anytime in the near future. This is a very nice, and reasonably priced hotel that is located in the heart of downtown. The Legacy Museum is directly across the street, and it's close to all of the venues downtown including the baseball park and the river. I believe that it is a renovated warehouse. OUr room was quite spacious. We had our beds on one side, and the kids had the trundle bed on the other - both sides with a nice-sized flat screen. The exposed brick, very high ceilings, and large windows added to the hip design throughout (please see photos). Breakfast is an added bonus, and is served down in the lobby. Really loved the design of the lobby! Parking is by valet, but there is street parking nearby. Plenty of restaurants and venues are within walking distance. I consider this a great value for the amenities that are available, and will definitely revisit if I'm back in Montgomery. read more

The new remodel looks nice but we did not find this place comfortable. The comforter was like a sheet , asked for a blanket and they gave me another "sheet comforter" , not warm . I stayed at the SpringHill Suites here in Montgomery and OMG! This facility was simply immaculate. The staff was beyond hospitable and accommodating. The room was superb and very, very clean. The bedding and bathroom was super clean. The layout of the room and hotel is extremely welcoming and gorgeous. It has a touch that is unforgettable. From this point forward when my family and I visit Montgomery, SpringHill Suites on Coosa Street will without a doubt be our "home away from home." I could walk around my room without socks on, although I didn't. Lol! Just habit. You will not regret residing there at all. Hello I checked into this hotel on 07/09/21 I was visiting family and the Legacy museum. I was excited after reading about the design of the hotel. I checked in on Friday to room 238 and I didn't like it. It was dark and one of the lights were broken. The window looked over the food service area. They told me they would send housekeeping to check the lighting and show me the other room. When she arrived I asked about the other room and she said she was not told about it. I called downstairs and was told it wasn't available. The person on the other line offered me 10 percent off and I could move the next day. I said no once I settle in that's that he offered 20 percent. Next day on checkin I was advised limited housekeeping due to COVID and if needed towels or any services must inform the desk before 9 am. I had an early commitment so at 645 am as I was leaving I informed the person at the desk of a need for fresh towels and the trash to be emptied. I returned around 11am and nothing had been delivered. When I left again at 1130 I stopped at the desk and informed them that no new towels . The front desk clerk assured me they would be there. I returned at 830 pm no towels. I preceded to the front desk where attempted to hand me some towels I informed her that I wasn't carrying towels she said she would have them delivered. The towels were actually brought up by the desk clerk herself I then asked for a roll of toilet paper she said she would right back. She never returned I called downstairs and the following morning we went to front desk to retrieve a roll. Next round checkout I went to get the luggage cart and it was gone . The person at the desk was away but the housekeeping manager was there and said she would send someone up to help . No one came at checkout I discussed my stay and was given a discount I was told to contact the GM Debbie Bozeman about my stay and a further discount. I spoke to her today and if she reflects the property and Marriot stay away she was unapologetic spoke of how busy they were didn't connect about the lack of service all for a hefty price let's be clear I am well traveled but this is ridiculous they are making money because of the location being so close to the museum but it makes me wonder if it didn't attract so many Black people would they take service more seriously and most of all after reading another review that this building once housed slaves stay away after all I wouldn't cruise on a former slave ship.
