Inside the mall - is everything closed ???
Rabia J.

I have been to Regency mall years ago, when I was attending VCU. So when I recently visited it, it was a shock that it was not the same hustling bustling mall it used to be. Many stores were closed. The atmosphere was horrible with the lighting of the mall being dim and dull. My niece and I only went to this mall because the Sephora is very good at this location and it's not very busy so, getting services done is really decent. The parking situation is easy as well because they aren't busy, you can easily find parking and be in and out of the mall within an hour. Go to this mall if you have at least one store you know you can shop at. This mall is a waste of time if you plan on trying to go to multiple stores and see variety. Since they don't have much variety left. ~

I'm dating this review, 3/12/20, because the management here is actively trying to revive this once bustling mall. I remember Regency in its heyday! It was the "go to" mall in RVA! Now with Short Pump and Stoney Point, Regency has seen better days. I went there for the Curtain Call event where the former Forever 21 upper and lower levels were being temporarily rented out for this consignment venue. Upon entering, the somber mood was palpable. The food court was desolate, so many empty food stalls, it was like a ghost town in there! Many store fronts were unoccupied, some boarded up. The children's play area was lifeless, and the two floors were almost empty with a cloud of gloominess in the air. This mall needs a major overhaul and facelift and I'm hopeful about the developments in the future. I hear inklings about a movie theater possibly in the works and that would be awesome! Short Pump is way to crowded and this is close to my house! I miss several stores and restaurants there, but I'm hoping with the renovations and the new businesses popping up (Panera, First Watch, Chipotle, Mod Pizza, Starbucks, and others) that this mall will soon be re"stored" to its former glory. I'm seeing daily construction and excited for the new additions. As of today though, I'm doing 2 stars with visions of adding more once this mall perks up!!

Regency keeps it real. They got Forever21 and Sephora! And Chick Fila. And that pretzel place is fire!

This is an older mall but still has a lot of shops. I like the fact that it is indoors too. The food court has a variety of choices as well.

Ask the Community - Regency Mall

Is this an indoor shopping mall?

I think it used to be, but it seemed totally abandoned when I went over the summer. Wouldn't recommend.

It's old school now, particularly with Short Pump and Stony Point as its competition.

I love it has hallway/balcony. It's great for the hot days and rainy days. We were there in the middle of heatwave. Definitely helped a lot. Great selection of brands and shops, fashions, accessories, shoes, food and beverage etc. I don't really see any sale or discount signs at any store. Most likely just regular prices.

In open spaces they had lots of kids activity and relaxing spots. Whole area was kept clean and constantly monitored, excellent service all around. There were several escalators, elevators and restrooms throughout the shopping center. Plenty of parking spots were available all around, pavements could use some improvement. As we walked around for a bit, I found many of my favorite stores like Lululemon, Dick's, Lego, H&M and an Apple Store too. It was a good mix of popular and expensive brands. They had Macy's and Dillard's departmental stores. Several of the restaurants included CFK, Chick fil a, Chipotle, The Cheesecake Factory, Texas De Brazil, Magliano's and lots more. Initially we went just to just visit Cold Stone, but we ended up spending couple of hours at this shopping center. I also found the rare Capital One cafe. We spent time shopping in Dick's as well. Overall I was really impressed by the quality and offering of this shopping center but since it's outdoor, feels very sweaty walking on hot days..

I even remember going to the movies at the Willow Lawn Cinema! Man I'm old! Through all of its growing pains, face lifts and renovations, I have continued my support of this centrally located shopping center. Some restaurants have come and gone, but there's always a good selection of eateries. I'm a regular at Ross, Old Navy and DSW. I'm hoping there will be an influx of business with the new Dick's Sporting Goods store here! I love the Five Guys, Noodles, Tropical Smoothie, Panera and Chick-fil-A. This A.C. Moore doesn't have as much as some of the other shops, but I patronize it in a pinch. Alpha Comics is here and I love browsing in that store and it's right across from Ducks Donuts! The Kroger is always packed, I avoid it. It's nice that they've added a play area and a picnic spot too! The parking configuration is a bit confusing sometimes, but it's not hateful. This mall is one structure that seems to always reinvent itself! Overall, I'm glad this RVA classic mall has survived thru the decades! Keep on truckin' Willow Lawn! Yep, I said it!
