I had two concerning experiences at RegeneSis Thrift Store in Chester and feel it's important to share them. On my first visit earlier this year, I purchased a pair of shoes clearly marked $8.99 and completed the transaction. After I paid, the cashier questioned the price and removed the item from my bag to check with management. While one manager acknowledged the sale was complete, another suggested I donate more money because I had received a "good deal." This happened in front of other customers and felt uncomfortable and embarrassing. Despite that, I gave the store another chance. On February 16, 2026, I selected several items with clearly marked prices, including shoes labeled $12.99 and other discounted items. At checkout, I was told the prices were incorrect and the store refused to sell the shoes at the marked prices. I ended up purchasing only some clothing and leaving. I understand that pricing mistakes can happen, especially at thrift stores. However, how those situations are handled matters. My concern is less about the error itself and more about the way I was treated when trying to purchase items at the prices displayed. As a nonprofit thrift store that serves the community, I expected clearer pricing policies and more respectful customer service. This place is a joke. Everything is outrageously overpriced and the staff is rude. They will accuse you of price tag swapping, and also deny you sales at the register if "Kelly the Thrift Witch' thinks the price isn't right. Donate your goods to a real charity, and forget these price gouging bums. read more

They had a couple things I would've bought had they been priced at what I thought a thrift store price should be. Unremarkable things, but things I would've spent money on. Not a place I would come back again to, and the only reason I did stop in was because I was in the area. read more

I am normally a huge fan of thrift stores but this one is a huge miss. First, I was the only customer in the store and I counted at least 6 people working. Not a one actually said hello or anything. Two were busy filming multiple takes of a video to upload to their facebook page, two were pretending to be busy (yes, you can tell they were faking it, they were walking very quickly and purposefully but not actually accomplishing anything, so they just seemed to want to put out a "Dont ask for anything" vibe), and two were talking about how soon they got to go home. Not a great sign when even the employees don't want to be there. Second, they have a ton of stuff just crammed onto really high shelves so it is really inaccessible. Particularly things like the housewares type stuff and pictures in the back. So you can't reach it or ask them to help since they are all SUPER busy... Third, as a lot of other people have noted, their stuff is priced WAY too high. Probably to cover the overhead of having so many employees standing around. People aren't going to a thrift store to buy a $190 replica coffee table or $100 replica desk. Or giant desk that you have to ask the social media manager for the price of. This place would be better off just dropping the "Thrift" from their name, being more discerning in what they accept/sell, and calling themselves an "Antique Store" where people are more willing to go in and drop money in the hundreds for a piece of furniture. read more

If you like to find vintage clothing treasures at thrift stores, regenesis gets plenty of donations and prices clothing items really well. Every week they have new items out, and you can find clothing from pretty much any decade. And not everyone knows this- but the thrift store funds and supports a faith based drug rehabilitation program. read more

The store is in a great location, easy to find and off of a busy road. They carry scarves, belts, hats, shoes, boots, coats, suitcases, men's shirts, pants, coats, suit jackets, and women's clothing as well, dresses included. There are house wears, books, video tapes, televisions, lamps, couches, chairs, and wall decor. The goods they have here are lacking in style but not versatility. The cost that they're asking for the majority of their items is way over what they're worth. I've found a few good projects here, but overall they haven't got anything of much consequence just seems like an oversized hoarders garage sale. read more

My mother, and I are avid thrifters. We love nothing more then to hit up a couple of stores after a long work day. We have been talking about going to the Regenesis in Chester for a while, we use to go a while ago when it first opened. I believe it was called the roc then? ( at least thats what we always called it lol) A couple weeks ago we finally went in. It was massive disappointment. The store its self was so dirty. The pricing was ridiculous, and product was completely underwhelming. There was nothing at all that I would of even considered spending money on. Even if there was I wouldn't of because not even 15 minutes after being there (keep in mind that my we were the only people in there), there was something that sounded like it fell a few shelves over. A VERY rude worker targeted, and yelled at us from across the store "If you break it you better buy it!" Being we weren't even in that area, it was completely uncalled for. They kicked people out so they could close 10 minutes early today so they could go to an event of somekind. Might not care too much if I lived nearby but I spent an hour driving (roundtrip) for about 5 minutes in the store. Asked one of the workers where to find the stuff I was looking for, thinking I could get in an out, and he had no idea. Between the comparatively high prices, staff that are unhelpful at best, and not appreciating their customers (or being respectful of their customers time) I have no intention of ever shopping at Regenesis Thrift again. read more

I used to frequent this thrift store monthly. Recently their prices have gone up drastically. I found a shirt that was ok, had a stain on it and was priced at 6.99 I understand trying to be more discerning in pricing, but at least when I go to Goodwill, I know that most things are the flat price, even the nicer stuff. It seems like anything that was even slightly decent was prices $5 and up. And whoever is pricing it really isn't paying attention to actual quality. I go to thrift stores shopping for a deal. I used to never leave without buying at least 1 item. Now I've been in 3 or 4 times recently and leave every time empty handed due to inflated prices. left my debit card at home so my daughter went and bought my things. Was charged 82.00 for 41.00 worth of things. When I called #1 was told I needed a receipt #2 cashier said I bought a bunch of Halloween things...I bought 1. I brought everything back with my receipt. The manager Kelly proceeded to yell at me in front of everyone that I had no proof of what I really bought. My family spends hundred of dollars there every month.. there is nothing Christian about that place. Kelly is pure evil. I am a very kind person and she had me in tears. There's a new thrift store on Jeff Davis across from the Wawa at Woods Edge. I hope the 40.00 they tipped me off for is put to a good purpose. Last year I donated a case of cereal for their men's program after asking if it was needed. Walked back in the store and the workers were dividing it up amongst themselves. Don't believe that this organization helps anyone. They throw away boxes fulL of perfectly good books and other items that they could donate to other people in need. I went in recently and asked about a bike that was back in the donation area, one man said it was going in the trash but when they found out I wanted to buy it for a display they charged me 20.00. Another good Christian move. They need to read the Bible more and if they want to tout themselves as Christians then maybe they should ask what Jesus would have them do.. The Reach out center Thrift shop, aka ReGenisis has three locations: Chester [Primarily furniture], Colonial Heights [predominantly clothes] and Petersburg [a mix of both]. I actually went to all three in search for furniture and lamps. The staff was very nice at all locations and more than willing to help. They made sure I understood the different price tags, discounts they were running for that day and what was coming up. Not only was the staff friendly, but the patrons in the store were as well. Some of the pricing is a bit out landish especially for their couches, however I was able to find everything I was looking for at a great price: drawer organizer ($1.99), floor lamp ($7.99), desk lamp ($3.99), 2 vases ($.99 and $.49), super comfy rocking chair ($39.99), 2 bar stools ($34.99 for the set), foot stool that doesn't go with the rocking chair but will do the trick ($7.99), a desk ($39.99), And on my way out I found the cutiest princess tea set that I got for my niece ($2.99). I love this store but stuff is over priced. I know they price things high then add a discount on it to say you're getting a good deal. Which you're not really winning. This place is money hungry just because it helps run a program,which is not my problem. It's a thrift store not a retail store. The owners are extremely rude. One of the best thrift stores in Chester. Not affiliated with the Richmond Outreach Center at all. The people here are good, nice, and helpful. They have a great selection of furniture and clothing along with having different sales: right now they have half off all clothing on Saturdays. I bought a George Foreman, TV stand and a nice Coffee Table for about $40. Definitely better than goodwill. Also, they have free bread that they give to homeless around the Chester area. They're a good organization that takes care of people. Been coming here since 2011 and I still do, I like this place even more than some thrift stores in Richmond. read more

My mom bought a bed frame with rails and my bed hangs over a lot. They said that it's was a queen sized but I wasn't when we put it together so we went in there today to see if they had any queen rails they said no so we asked if we can bring it back they said no once again but they said we could donate it back we said no because it's ridiculous never ever will I come up here again end of story read more

Today I had the pleasure of meeting the Manager, Trisha. I was on mission to find the perfect frame for a painting from a talented man from North Carolina. He recently passed away and I was fortunate to get this painting to hang in my home. She went over and beyond to help me. I brought it home and within a few days I will be able to admire this painting. Her staff were friendly and helpful, too.
