We swung by Reggie's rooftop last night before we hit the Sox game. We thought, "$1 tacos and half price drafts?! Can't beat it!" Unfortunately, we left the place hungry and a bit disappointed. Here's what happened: When we got to the bar, it was roughly 5:45 PM. The place was already pretty busy, so we posted up at the bar and ordered there. The bartender that helped us mentioned that he was off at 6:00, so it'd be best if we didn't start a tab. That was the first bad sign. If we want to start a tab, please let us. We'll be sure to tip appropriately, but do not discourage us from paying the way that we'd prefer. Annoying. Still, we closed the tab right away so that our bartender could leave at 6:00PM and still earn a tip on our bill. We ordered a few drinks and some food. All good. Our hunger was starting to set in, so we couldn't wait for some of that delicious fare. 20 minutes later. No food. 30 minutes later. No food. 45 minutes later. No food. Finally, that same bartender approached us and mentioned that they did not have a kitchen runner, and the order was never put in. The bartender started calculating the food we ordered and said he'd pay us back for it with cash. You could tell that he was upset, which caused us to sympathize with his situation. We asked for a few free beers, which he happily delivered. Unfortunately, I think the rooftop had a staffing issue last night, and the bartender that was helping us fell victim to that. I'd been dying to try the food at Reggie's since I heard it was pretty good, but did not get the opportunity to last night. Damn. I trust that Reggie's will pull it together and get back on track after a bit of a hiccup last night. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and it was nice that the bartender helping us gave us a few free beers (it would've been nice if he offered rather than us having to ask, though!). We'll give Reggie's another shot, but we expect an improvement upon last night's experience! read more

Super chill, South Loop bar. You'll probably see the most diverse group of people at Reggie's which makes it even more cool. The rooftop is a good spot to hang out on a nice day. The tables are pretty much communal... find a spot and ask the person next to you if the bench is taken. Once you seat yourself, the challenge is finding a server to notice that you just sat down and want to order. They have daily food and drink specials so you can't go wrong on any day... cheap wings, half priced apps, half off burgers, cheap drinks, etc. There's a free pool table and basketball hoop to keep you entertained and usually competing loud music from the concert venue inside and the DJ/music outside. read more

Me and my peeps had a great time watching Game 4 of the NBA Finals on this pretty cool rooftop! Was pretty packed by the time we got there due to it being a very warm Friday nite and the fact that they have a big projector screen playing the NBA Finals. The had seats all over the rooftop which were good for big groups or shared groups. There was a server going around taking drink orders, but you know that could take some time so we got most of our drinks from the bar...they make perfect makers & ginger FYI! read more

Well, this spot did all it could to earn the 1 star I've given it. Before going into the bad, I will say that I enjoyed the Wednesday night rooftop atmosphere and music. It's a central location that's very easy to get to with street parking (it isn't free, you have to pay the paybox/meter). Now, the bad. The place is chaotic!!! The whole trainwreck idea is fitting. There is no system to how drink orders or food orders are taken and delivered. I'd heard that the wings were pretty good, but I can't tell you if they were because I did not receive my order. I ordered mozzarella cheese sticks and an order of mixed wings. After waiting an hour and half, I decided to cancel the order. My sister was able to track down the waitress who we hadn't seen since placing the order and told her that we'd never received our food. When she got to the table, we told her that we wanted to cancel our order, she then proceeded to look at the empty plates/dishes on the table and asked why we were cancelling since we'd clearly gotten our order based on the empty containers on the table. Mind you we were sitting at a table with at least 6 other people who'd gotten their food and the empty containers belonged to them. I was offended! To insinuate that we were trying to get out of paying our bill, which basically boils down to stealing, was the worst in customer service. After a minute or so, of getting this poor excuse of a waitress to understand that we had not received our order, she storms away from the table, as if we'd done something to her! We were on the receiving end of her insult and poor service. If they'd had a REAL system in place to track orders, this would not be an issue. I'm sure they've lost plenty of money due to a lack of a real order and delivery system resulting in orders being sent to the wrong table. If you're planning on stopping into this place, I would suggest you eat elsewhere. Unless you're prepared to wait over an hour and be insulted by rude waitresses when you lodge a concern. read more

Nice rooftop patio to enjoy some drinks outside. They do have a nice canned beer selection. I ordered the tater tots, which didn't disappoint and the stuffed mushrooms were pretty tasty, although nothing to rave about. However, the staff is inattentive and unprofessional. It's unappealing to have your server, open-mouth eating while you're trying to place an order.. Other staff were also rude, loud and inappropriate. It's pretty dirty with disgusting bathrooms and I was served a can of beer with so much dirt and dust/hair stuck to the top of the can, that I had to wash it before drinking out of it (because my server was MIA) I probably won't be becoming a regular any time soon... read more

Came here on a Tuesday night meeting a "date" from Plenty of Fish for the first time. Turns out he wanted to come to Reggie's because there's a wing and drink special on Tuesday nights. Suffice it to say, it was a very cheap, very bad date. BUT -- those wings are delicious! The rooftop is a great place to hang out in summer if you can stomach the crowd and nasty restrooms, if you play pool, and if you are aggressive enough to chase down the servers to actually place your order. The drinks were watered down -- but at only $2 on Tuesday nights, who can rightfully complain? The wings are the real winner here, and I think they're only $4 on Tuesdays. Those wings were my only friend to get me through listening to a bad date talk about himself for 2 hours... Reggie's is not my "go to" South Loop spot, but if I ever get a hankering for those wings again, I'd definitely go there again. read more

I picked Reggie's rooftop a few weeks as a spot for a Friday happy hour with friends and family that happened to also be my birthday. I've been to Reggie's for shows and food on other occasions but this was my first experience on the roof top. The atmosphere of the roof top is great. It was super crowded when I first got there at 5-ish but the crowd thinned out to more comfortable levels as it got later (and colder). The roof top has plenty of tables, a full bar, and pool table and a pop-a-shot-game. Very relaxed atmosphere. The prices on all the food and drinks were reasonable and definitely met expectations. My dad had a catfish sandwich that tasted absolutely heavenly. Too bad the service is terrible. When I first arrived I went to the bar to grab a drink while I waited for the rest of my party. I overheard a woman sitting at the bar ask the bartender if he knew how to make a certain drink. He snapped "no" at her in response and walked away. When I finally ordered my drink I asked (with credit card in hand) if I could open a tab and he snapped "no" at me, tossed down the check and walked away. No explanation given. If its policy not to start a tab or he was going off shift then no big whoop but he was extremely rude. I chalked it up to one guy being snotty but as my guests arrived the bad service stories started to pile up. - when one friend who didn't realize we were on the roof sat at the bar downstairs to wait she asked the female bartender what her best drink was, the bartender told her she could "open a bottle of beer really well" and stalked away. - a few people in my party ordered food at the bar...only to not be told when it was ready. We were sitting at a table right in front of the bar and the server made NO EFFORT to inform them that their food was ready. After what seemed like a longer than reasonable wait they went to the bar to inquire and found their food sitting on the bar, ice cold. - my dad ordered our food from the waitress who made sporadic disinterested appearances from time to time. A few minutes after she delivered our food she came back around and put the bill on the table without a word. She came back around a few minutes later to tell us that she had left the bill on the table, as if she thought we were going to leave without paying it (we were there for at least another 3 hours after this). She also never asked if we wanted anything else (which we did, but had already ordered at the bar because we didn't think she was ever going to come back). - my aunt attempted to order food from the same waitress. My aunt told her what she wanted and then tried to get the attention of someone else in our party who had given up on waiting for the waitress and went to order at the bar. We told the waitress to go ahead and put in the order she had been given. About 30 minutes later we flag her down and inquire about the food only to be VERY snottily told that she didn't put in the order because it wasn't complete. Even is she thought that was the case, why wouldn't she come back around to get the rest of it? - When a friend noticed that someone had set out the little wood burning chimneys at the opposite end of the roof she flagged down the guy who had done it (i think he was security) and asked if we could have one too (it was COLD!!). He acted VERY out upon but eventually did it and made it a point to snap "you good now?" once he was done. So that completed the circle of EVERY employee we interacted with being unnecessarily rude. Normally this level of bad service would have had me steaming mad but I did my best to let it go at the time because it was my birthday. But I can't ever see myself returning to any part of Reggie's after the shoddy treatment my party received. Its a shame because the rooftop is beautiful and most things about it are great. I understand that Reggie's is a "rock" atmosphere but they should probably invest in some staff training. You can still be a "bad ass" and not treat your paying customers like garbage. I would like to give 2.5 starts but since you can't I'm rounding down. read more

Probably everyone who lives on the Southside, especially the South Loop, has been to Reggies at one point in their life. Its a place known for its concerts, cheap drink and lunch specials and its outdoor rooftop. If you go to Reggies with anything over the expectation of getting drunk for cheap, hanging out with friends or playing pool, then you may be disappointed. Otherwise its perfect for those 3 things. They usually have some type of wing special on certain days (.50 cent wings) and the wings are pretty good (very good at that price). And they have drafts and basically any other cheap liquor you want. I wouldn't go here trying to order some 40 year old Cognac. Bartenders are real cool but when this place gets packed (and it gets packed), they are overworked seriously. Waiters/waitresses too. Thats probably the only real negative. Trying to get a table after 5 in the summer on a workday may be a real problem. And because its so packed, you may have to track your waitress down to get your orders in. Wanna go, hang with some neighborhood hipsters and get blasted for cheap, hit Reggies. Wanna drink a 30 yr old Scotch and talk about stocks, go elsewhere. read more

So this bar is literally 10min from where I live so a group of us decided to go to celebrate a birthday our waitress Anna was phenomenal the food was good drinks was ok as the night went on the crowd change meaning there were more black people than any other race and the dj became very annoyed and he let it be known he was very rude to the point it made us uncomfortable that we decided to leave considering the location of the bar SOUTHSIDE of Chicago in an urban community we did not expect this type of treatment at all if you ask me Reggie's is racist I will not return read more

I do try to give a place a break, but... We we went at 2PM on a Friday. Now I know this may be a matter of tatse, but be prepared for death metal music playing way too loudly. Our unenthusiastic waiter took his time finding us. When I told him that the cola he brought me had zero flavor and that the system needed a syrup change, he acted like I was nuts at first. So I ordered a of Old Mil. They do have fun old school domestic beers. The washroom.... it was so unclean, it was not fit for even washing. I will not go into details. After a long wait, the food came. My chicken wings were wrong. I ate one of the BBQ wings, although I ordered buffalo. I did as for a new order and eventually received it. Too bad it was flavorless yet extremely hot. My friend's fish tacos seemed good to him. Dogs, where? I am a dog person. I am good at an outdoor venue with the dog under the table.... but ON THE BAR? We looked over to the bar ( where our drinks came from ) and there was a Yorkie with its paws propped up on the bar. Staff didn't seem to mind at all. Wish it was a better experience. The food was okay, decent enough for a bar, however, the customer service was below par. One waitress had an attitude while serving us so we moved to another waiter. When we received our food there was a piece of hair wrapped into a chicken strip. This is how I knew it wasn't just something that had fallen onto the food. A friend got us a $10 ticket for all you can eat and White Sox baseball ticket. Now that is a good deal. They have BBQ going the whole time with different meats an side, you eat till 12:30 and they will shuttle everyone to the game. And after the game they will shuttle you back and you can eat again before heading home. Is a great deal for a Sunday activity. read more

The bathrooms are dark and smell like punk rock and old urine. The staff is usually friendly. Service can be slow and can suck a bit when your beer is empty. Overall I always like the food and recommend it. Drink specials can be decent and they make a good bloody mary. Did the bus trip to alpine as a first last weekend and was a ball. food is top tier but the wait we have experienced to get one order of wings is WILD! we received everyone else's order of wings except one. while waiting for that last order, the first ones to come out got colder than a body at the morgue. we understand that it's a busy night but we're one of the few tables having food. s/o our server, Steph, for having them re-fired, it's not fair to her that she's the only one running the roof top. we tried explaining to the manager our situation and the best she could do was offer shots. after we declined the shots, she walked away and left us with words in our mouth. very dissatisfied and severely disappointed with the level of unprofessionalism. again, this was not the server's fault. @ the manager's: please hire more staff to fulfill your clientele. it's not fair that the employees are exploited and forced to work long days alpine, especially on weekends. read more

Seen another waitress and asked her if she knew where our waitress went because she told us she would be right back and the waitress responded, "honey, it's really busy tonight, I'm sure she will be back!" Clearly it was our first time and we walked in a tad confused, didn't know whether to seat ourselves or if there's a host. We inquired about the rooftop having seen some photos she just replies "stairs" and points to the staircase. I think I had the worst dining experience in history at Reggie's Rooftop. They call it a trainwreck, and I definitely agree. I will have no mercy on this review, because they had no mercy on us. IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. I had some friends recommend this place and I took 5 other people with me to see what it was about. We got there at 10:45 and made it a point to get there before their closed at 11:30, after a 12 hour work day, we were HUNGRY. We walked in and immediately asked the bartender to send a server over, his response was yeah. We sat down at the table at 10:45......11:00 came....11:10 came. I went back to the bar to alert the bartender that we still had not seen a waitress. I suppose it's our fault for not leaving right at that moment. 11:20...11:25. Went back to the bar and stated that we wanted to order food before the kitchen closed. The bartender said he told her, "what do you want me to do" at 11:30 the waitress finally comes over and asks what we wanted to order. We gave her the order, 3 orders of buffalo wings, fries, onion rings (My friends had gone to bar to order their drinks, I ordered mine from the waitress) 1 JD Double, with coke, tall. after we all gave our order, she says let me go and get a notepad, I need to write this down. She comes back to the table 10 minutes later to say that the kitchen is now CLOSED. I asked to speak to a manager, she states again that the kitchen is closed, did we want to order a drink (which I had already done.) I ask again to speak to a manager. After some reluctance, she says ok and leaves. She returns a few minutes later to say that she will now take our order, but that the kitchen was only doing fried foods (which we had all ordered anyway) and gave her the ENITRE order again. She leaves and after about 10 minutes I find her on the floor to ask what happened to the drink. As I approach her on the open floor, another younger light skinned woman comes walks past me and says to her rather loudly, THIS IS WHY SHE FUCKING HATES WEDNESDAYS. Surprised, I was very taken back but still asked our server, what happened to my drink. She said she had too much going on, what was it again. I gave her the order for the 3rd time and she finally gets it out. The food comes out, and is dropped on the table and everyone walked away. We weren't asked about sauces, if it was correct or anything. At this point, I'm TRULY in the twilight zone. We track the server down again and ask for ranch. She gets the ranch, all but throws it at us along with the check. Hint taken, we picked at the half cooked food, never ever complained about it, at that point, there wasn't one, paid and STILL TIPPED HER and left. I called in to ask to speak with a manager and some guy who refused to identify himself said whats the problem, I asked if he was a manager and he said no, but what was the problem. I asked when a manager would be in and he stated that if I wasn't gonna tell him the problem, then he wasn't going to talk to me. Needless to say, we WILL NEVER patronize what is a neighborhood restaurant for me again. We never go loud, or ignorant with any member of their staff and couldn't for the life of me understand why we were being treated so bad. My friends ordered drinks from the bar and tipped the bartender as well. I would stay FAR FAR away from this place if I were you. read more

Trainwreck-Appropriately named. I had been hearing nice things about the weekly Wed party there so I was excited to check it out for the first time. I arrived. Nice atmosphere. Good music, Lots of my friends there. I ran into 2 friends at the bar when I went up to order a drink. I ordered 2 for myself and asked my friends to order theirs on me. The skinny heavily tatooed bartender was serving us. He got my drinks and then set one of the ladies' drinks on the counter, He told me $21. I told him fine but he still hadn't got my other friends drink. He told us we were ordering too slow and to pay him his money. I asked "What kind of attitude was that?" He then yelled "Pay me my Fucking Money" I then told him Fuck You I'm not paying anyone who talks to me like that. He then waived over security. I tried to explain to the security guard what happened and he said he understood but I still had to go and made up a story about 3 other people complaining about me. I told him that didn't make sense since the only problem I had was with this bartender and I had only been there 15 minutes. He then got loud and agitated with me and told me I had to go. I complied. When I got downstairs I spoke to another security person who seems a bit more reasonable and asked to speak to the manager. Shortly after the manager walks by and he asked him to come over and talk to us. He told us to hold on and came over about 10 minutes later. I wasn't very encouraged when he walks outside and immediately lights a cigarette before even saying a word to me. I explained to him what happened and he seemed quite uninterested and even annoyed that I had to take time out to speak to me. To be fair he did apologize and say he would talk to the bartender with whom I had the disagreement but somehow I believe he was patronizing me and couldn't wait to get back inside. He kept asking me "What do you want me to do about it?" I'm told him it's not for me to tell him his job, but at the same time I didn't feel he handled the situation properly. Oh and he did say "Well I can't let you back in, you've already been kicked out". I told him that I wasn't trying to get back in and that I wouldn't be coming back again. Again the manager seemed completely unmoved. I tried to give 0 stars but it wouldn't let me post. read more

Today I was wearing a black fathers matters shirt one of the waitresses spilled a drink on my back when I approached her and tapped her on the shoulder she turned to me and said don't fucking touch me. I said you spilled a drink on me while showing her my back. She said with what I said with the cups you just threw away, she says no I didn't and walks off behind the bar. Reggie's was okay, but nothing too exciting. They did not have Cuervo, so my sister and I had to find something else. The bartenders had very little personality or expression. One girl actually walked away while I was speaking mid-sentence. Awkward. We both had the grilled cheese which was pretty good, no complaints there. Unless your tastes skew d-bag, you might end up agreeing with me that Reggie's is one of the best bars in Chicago. I am talking about the whole Reggie's complex, but have chosen to write about the roofdeck because that's where I usually am when I go to Reggie's. I could go on and on about this place, but I'll just bulletpoint the things I enjoy most: - Like most things South Loop, clientele is very diverse (whites, blacks, indians, asians, hipsters, punk rock looking-dudes, young professionals, older couples who like to feel they're still with it and there to enjoy a rock show, etc.) If you're someone of color like me, you find that this is more important to you than the next person and it's one of the best things about living in the South Loop. No place in the neighborhood seems to typify this more than Reggie's--maybe Wabash Tap comes the closest - In the summertime, playing the roofdeck pop-a-shot with the green line going by right behind is really unique and fantastic urban setting. In the wintertime they put a canopy over half of the roofdeck, and there's a nice smoker's patio and fire/warming hearth for people to stand by when they go out there - The specials are great, particularly on Monday and Tuesday. Bingo with Burke on Monday is also hilarious, but he can be abrasive and cantankerous sometimes so maybe think twice before bringing the easily offended or a date up there. Unless she is cool. - I really enjoy the people who work there. You can tell they're individuals with their own interests outside of work, and while maybe not trained in the formal art of "service" they from my view do a really damn good job and the management seems to give them freedom to use their judgment more than some other places you might see (this is just how it seems to me as an external observer, they might disagree) - The rides and ticket specials to the local sporting teams is a great deal and perfect pre-game option - Street parking is a breeze read more

The only reason we came was for the chicken wings and pool table since this is in my neighborhood. I should have listened to my intuition and stayed home. Wings were average. I've had much better at Hooters and prefer Buffalo Wild Wings. The drinks took 30 minutes to arrive were bearable since I rarely drink. The service was rude, rude, rude and simply atrocious. The death metal music gave a massive migraine to me. I like heavy metal music when exercising, but not while eating. Train wreck indeed! Fun place to go for drinks on a sunny day. Cheap drinks, great service, no frills, but a fun outdoor space. Pool table and basketball hoop included, and on hot days they have misting water spraying to cool you off. Sometimes there's even a band playing on the rooftop, which is super fun. I don't usually go to the southside, but when I do it's to China Town and Reggie's. I always walk straight up to the rooftop where they have basketball, pool and a bar. Fans in the summer time that will mist you as needed. I usually get competitive with basketball and will try to outshoot anyone I'm with. If it's a sunny day in the summer and you don't know what to do. Hop on the water taxi from downtown and get off at china town then head this way. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. By far the worst service I have ever experienced. We had to seat ourselves and then was never waited on. We sat and never even received menus. At one point a waitress stopped by to say that she would come back to clean the table off but she was never seen again. We got up and left and 6 hours later they probably never even noticed. read more
