I loved my haircut and root touchup experience! I needed to get a haircut and as I've had cuts here before, I decided to give Regis in the Hoover Galleria Mall a call. I was able to get an appointment for the same day. Shaundrica was my hairstylist and we had good conversation while she dyed my gray roots back to black. Then, the shampoo was a wonderful experience because she massaged my scalp and neck too! Ahhhh, it was so nice. I told Shaundrica that I wanted a shorter cut but not too short, and she suggested a slightly below-the-chin length. Whatever she did, I LOVED the result! Seriously, it sounds so simple, but some cuts just don't look exactly right. What's even better is that I can style my hair and it will look *almost* as good as how it looked when I left the salon. That's the real test of a great haircut. Shaundrica has been at this salon for a year and I sure hope she will stay around, else I'll follow her to wherever she ends up. As far as the salon, it was clean, bright, organized, and had lots of products on promotional sale for the holidays. Easy to find in the mall, near Forever 21, and prices are reasonable. read more

Just got my haircut here on Monday. I was a little hesitant because I have very tight curly African American hair. The lady reassured me she was able to do it and completely blew me away because my looks great! She was the manager working at right now her name slips my mind. I had a very bad experience at Regis Salon in Riverchase Galleria today. I was looking for a new hairstylist so I decided to call Regis at the Galleria. I asked if they knew how to do black women hair. The lady on the phone booked me an appointment with Kara. She assured me that Kara knew how to do black women hair. When I arrived I asked for Kara. When she introduced herself to me, I asked her about her experience with black hair. She assured me that she that she had experience with black hair. All i wanted was a wash, cut and style. I didn't find out until halfway through the cut that she didn't know how to do my hair. The salon didn't even have black hair products or the proper equipment to curl my hair. I was then informed that she has only done about 4 black women's hair. I was told by the stylist who took over for Kara that "this is how you get experience on different type of hair". I wish that she would have been honest upfront instead of using my head as practice. I was not please with my experience at Regis Salon in the Riverchase Galleria. read more

My daughter was just horribly ripped off at the Regis Salon in the Galleria. She went in last week to have her hair colored and paid over $100. There were some spots that were missed and she asked for a touch up. She is a teen and they charged her over $300 for a TOUCH UP! She had my debit card and didn't know what to do. She paid them. I was frustrated when I came in from trying to go other places that didn't work out. I love my hair now! Loretta did a perfect job on my hair once I explained what I wanted. The price was not bad either so I'm not sure where the over charged review came from. Meh. I've experienced better. I called before hand and asked what a cut would be, the person on the phone told me $25. Okay cool no problem. Coming into the store there was just this blank stare on the hosts face. But he did quickly get a hairstylist that took me right back to her station. She sat me down and removed my hair tie and asked if I was wanting my hair trimmed. I assume because I had long hair. I told her no and that I was looking for something a bit more dramatic. I pulled out my phone and showed her photos of the same hair style that I wanted. She took my p phone and looked through the photos and said "Sure, that's not a problem." The haircut I choose was a very short one, close to hers actually, trusting that she would be able to recreate this style for me. She took me over to get my hair washed and then proceeded to cut it for some time. My head was down most of the time. But when all was said and done she lifted my head and styled my hair for me. She told me she had "let my hair longer than the photo" no, no, no ma'am you did not. The cut itself is a good cut but it is not the style nor the length that I was looking for. Thankfully the cut turned out to be okay, but I can't wait til about 3 months from now when it grows out to the length I wanted originally. Not to mention the fact that getting your hair washed and styled was not apart of the package. There was no mention of the extra cost nor was I asked if I wanted my hair washed/styled. I could have stopped her or asked but I am always curious at the service so I went with it. My quoted $25 cut was a $45 disaster. I could have washed and styled my own hair and saved the $20. Thanks but no thanks. read more

I am a little upset about my visit. It was my first time there and the woman who checked me in was very nice. I expected it to be a nice visit and actually felt bad that I was there about an hour and 20 minutes before they closed. I was told they would be ready for me at 8, which I knew was underestimated, anyway, so I waited until about 8:20. At this point, three hair dressers had finished with their client's: One male and two females. One of the females, that finished first, started to clean up her area and then went to the back, then to the front, then to the back, and this continued for quite some time. The male finished around the same time as the other female, that female then told the male to cut my hair. He seemed nervous, which had me very nervous. He asked me how I wanted my hair cut and I explained to him the cut that I wanted and showed him images, as well. He, then, went to the third female and asked her if she would cut my hair because he was uncomfortable with the style I was requesting. She, then, started to explain to him how to do it and he came to me again, asked a few more questions, but was obviously very nervous and very uncomfortable. He, then, went back to both of the females and explained his discomfort again, to which they responded with another explanantion on how to do it. They were closing in less than 20 minutes, at this point, and I obviously was not going to receive the haircut I wanted in that short amount of time, especially not by someone who did not know how to do it and would not have had the time he needed to be cautious with his "test dummy", basically. I am all for letting someone train on my hair, but definitely not in 20 minutes. I feel bad for him because I took a look at his license and he had just received it 6 months ago. I am also disappointed that the two girls would not cut my hair, knowing that he would not have given me anywhere near the style I wanted in that short of time. They were basically like "we don't really feel like cutting anyone else's hair and we don't care how your hair turns out, we'll just force the new guy, who is OBVIOUSLY uncomfortable with it, cut your hair". So, of course, I walked out explaining that I cannot take that chance with my hair. It is also a shame because I am a very generous tipper and I ALWAYS buy product from the stylist's for commission purposes. Won't be back. read more
