I got to thinking, how dumb where they, I am a retired marine with a military hair cut that takes about 10 min to cut, and they turned me away, now I could see if they were busy but they were obviously not. Lost opportunity for them to gain a customer. Needless to say every time I speak to someone about my barber or where I go, I end up telling the story. The old saying, do something right for a customer they will tell 5 people, do something wrong they will tell 5000!! Food for thought.

My nephew went here for a haircut and tried to clearly explain and show the barber what he wanted…read more The response he got was essentially, "I know what all you kids want these days," and his input was ignored entirely. No consideration was given to his widow's peaks, which already make his hair more challenging to work with. The end result speaks for itself (photos attached). The cut is uneven, not blended properly, and does not suit his face at all. On top of that, whatever product was put in his hair looked like super glue. My sister had to wash his hair three times when they got home just to get it out. The most heartbreaking part is that my nephew--who is a teenager and already dealing with enough--cried for hours afterward, saying his life was ruined because of how bad the haircut was. Teenagers are vulnerable, and this experience made it far worse. I understand not everyone will love every haircut, but this goes beyond preference. This was careless, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Paying nearly $30 for a haircut that looks this bad is unacceptable. After seeing how the owner responds to other reviews, I'm honestly not surprised. The responses are defensive, unprofessional, and blame the customer instead of taking accountability. We are not looking for an apology--we've already seen how those are handled here. Might as well just do walk ins at that point. And that's fine, everyone runs behind (an apology would have been nice rather than thanking me for my patience!). But the main reason I'm writing a negative review is after finally getting seated, I find the chair and counter station is full of hair and dirty from the previous client. The stylist isn't prepared and disappeared again to grab the steam machine! So not only did they rob me of my time but after patiently waiting, they robbed my experience. I didn't feel comfortable and lost trust in the cleanliness of the entire place because what else is rushed at this point! Absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful to other people time.

Weird basement cocktail bar in a barber shop. Much like the two or three other cocktail bars in…read morethis town, they offer custom drinks and high prices. Trying pretty hard to be this upper class cocktail bar with guys in black suits and earpieces for a bar the size of a house basement. It's a weird set up; there's a glass separator between the hair washing stations and the actual bar; and they house their DJ behind the glass as well, blasting music at a "yell to talk" level, which gets annoying. They only offer four beers as well, pushing the cocktail menu. Could use a few more normal domestic options besides Stella, Modelo, Sam Adam's, and 2 hearted. They offer bottle service and I saw a birthday bottle being presented like it's Vegas- bubble guns and sparklers... it was pretty stupid. Gotta figure out if your a cocktail bar or a club. Pick a persona. Overall wasn't impressed with the ambiance or the offerings. Would I return? Yeah I think so. But I don't think I'd make a night of the place. Maybe a drink or two before heading out elsewhere. Then again I'm not a clubber and felt like I was a bit too old to be here at the age of 43.

Calculating the stars on this one is tricky. The woman who cuts hair here, the owner, does an…read moreexcellent job. Straight up five stars, no question. The problem is that the last time I had my hair cut there was in 2010. I am not sure if the "Walk-ins Welcome" sign is still up, but if it is, it shouldn't be. I've "walked in" a dozen times in the past five years--all different times of the day. Every time the owner is watching TV or playing on her phone, but I can't get a haircut because she'll have an appointment scheduled. (Mostly these appointments seem to be for women, so I guess the "Mens Shop" part of the sign should come down, too.) In summary, I'd pay $25 for a haircut (which is more than she charges) at Get a Hair Cut in Goodrich, but I can't find a time when they'll take it. (Someone might read this and ask, Why doesn't he just make an appointment? Good question. The thing is, I used to live in Goodrich and could pop in whenever, but now we're 40 minutes south. So I only stop in when we're passing through.)
