Today we stopped into this store with the kids before they head back to school. One of them was looking for a Halloween costume. Walking around I quickly realized that thinking this place is just another Spirit Halloween store, is like thinking King Soopers is just another Starbucks Coffee place. The inventory at Reinke's is incredible. Yes, it has costumes for Halloween for that one month out of twelve where they celebrate that holiday and host a haunted house. But the rest of the year this place has everything you'd possibly want to host a Star Wars themed party, St. Patrick's Day bash, Mardi Gras gathering, create a magic show or produce a Broadway play. Room after room are filled with every imaginable item to change your appearance from scary to sexy. They also have makeup, masks, stage props and lots of different magic tricks. RENKIE BROS in Littleton, Co is a must go to place if ever in the Denver area!!! More than a HUGE costume shop - the most awesome Haunted House maze ever!!!! Many robots and live people jumping out of nowhere! No expense spared and tons of custom art throughout. Fabulous does not even come close to explaining this place. YOU MUST GO "TO KNOW". I went with my friends and we are all teenagers and I was terrified it was my first haunted house but we all screamed our heads off! I loved it but there is a trippy spinning room that I had to look down during it and a tilt when you get out and I almost fell. There was a pitch black room and I ran into a lot of walls I don't know if it was purposeful or what. The store was also pretty cool. Wanting to check out the extravagant costumes, insane Halloween décor and just take a peek inside, we were surprised to hear the screams of the haunted house! A staff member informed us they have offered one for years, so we happily took advantage! Starting at $22/person (check online too - for a few bucks off!), the tour takes guests through a 34 room house that is definitely scary! I found my 34 year old self startled multiple times, expelling loud screams and left definitely spooked! Get ready - it's spooky season! read more

My son has been trying for about three years to do the haunted house at Reinke Brothers. He loves horror movies and special effects but he has some special needs so the idea of loud noises and people jumping out at him was really stressful to him. I tried to get him to do the lights on tour but he's 15 now so he felt like he was too old to do it. He had himself all prepared to go this year. He was excited, we got the tickets, and then as soon as we walked in the door at Reinke Brothers, his anxiety kicked in. I tried to encourage him and talk it through with him but he was struggling too much. We were on the verge of leaving when I decided to talk to the woman taking tickets at the entrance to the haunted house. It was early evening on a Sunday so there were not many people there at all. I introduced myself to Marion and explained the situation and asked her if she had any suggestions. She told us she would be my son's "monster mom". She would tell all the monsters to take a break and walk through with us and let us know when there would be loud noises and jump scares. My son was so excited! He agreed right away. I was in tears because I was so happy for my son and so grateful that she would do this for him! My son made it through the haunted house and he loved it! Im not seeing much about the haunted mansion itself and i wanted it to be worth the 25 per person but im not really interested in the store.. it looks cluttered and dusty like a thrift store. Also i was reading the bad reviews also which are important to determine if this is a spot I want to visit and unfortunately there are a few not so good ones that involve racism.. i don't think i would feel comfortable bringing my family here if this is the type of things they condone and have done to other non white customers.. I took my 10 year old magic fan to look this place over. Richard, the "house magician" took him under his wing and showed him several magic tricks and spent a lot of time encouraging him. The only thing keeping Reinke in business, in my opinion, is that it's a unique store with a stellar location. The people who work here are not one of the place's assets. The one time we came into the store with the intent of purchasing something, the service was very poor. First of all, we were shopping for costumes for a party. My husband ended up renting something (though it wasn't exactly what he wanted), but at the time of trying the costume on he noticed that it was missing a piece (a glove - very obvious thing to be missing). When this was brought to the clerk's attention, he shrugged it off, said he'd try to track it down before the date of our event, and then proceeded to charge us full price for the rental. By the time we came to pick it up on the day of our party, the missing glove had not been found. There was no apology from the staff and no discount on the rental. On the same day that we were looking for my husband's costume, I was looking for a costume as well. They did not have anything in my size in stock, so I looked through their catalog of things they could order for me. I'd wanted to purchase or rent something that day, but I was prepared to order through Reinke because I believe in supporting local business. The clerk didn't seem to know how to place orders or even get the process started for ordering something. I told him what I wanted and in what size, but he still looked confused about what to write down. It finally came to the point that *I* had to hand-write write a message to some other staff member with all the information on it. The clerk said he would deliver it to the guy in charge of ordering and I would receive a phone call in one or two days. Well, he never called me. I gave up waiting and finally ordered the exact same costume on Amazon. Reinke, if they had cared at all about customer service, would have gotten my business. But they lost it due to a combination of laziness, lack of communication, and antiquated systems. We won't be coming back to Reinke again if we can avoid it. read more

Its a little off putting when you walk in and the shopkeeper leans toward you and in a loud voice says "What do you need?". I literally thought I had walked into a wholesale place closed for retail. But soon he softened up and invited me to look around. Its huge, its organzined and clean, but HEAVILY leans toward the ghoulish and Halloween items. Not really a traditional costume shop. Also pricey. They have a wonderful array of women's stockings, but they are priced at 7.99 each. Three types of smoke machines. Crazy huge scary props. Creepy make-up and zombie items. Oh wow! What a great store! It is situated in downtown Littleton. Now downtown Littleton is nice... perhaps too nice. Lots of shops but not really all that much variety. Enter Reinke Bros. Just offbeat enough for me to really get into it. I written downtown Littleton off as a 'cute place but don't want to make too many visits here' kind of list just about until I came here. Wow! Yeah I know... I already said wow... What a great costume store! Where do I start on what they have? Huge, huge selection of wigs, masks and costumes! They also have great props for Halloween! They have a section of skulls... many glitter encrusted, a section just of body parts props and they just got in voodoo idols. Haven't seen those since I was in New Orleans! For me I am an all year aficionado of the macabre... of Halloween so now I know where to go to get a fix. The guy that worked here was very knowledgeable and loved that the fact here that everyday can be Halloween( or some holiday that requires costumes). As much as I love Halloween I have to shamefully say that I do get tired of it after manufacturing party after party or event after event during the month of October(which I do every year)... but at Reinke Bros they take costumed fun to an all new level! First let me state - My one star is due to the fact that Reinke Brothers has taken over the once free municipal parking lot behind their store and turned it into paid parking. Downtown Littleton has a shortage of parking to start with and Reinke Brothers obviously saw the opening of the Tavern restaurant as an opportunity to gouge visitors. I have to believe the loss of the 50 or so free spaces is hurting local merchants. The good news is that no one is paying Reinke to park, the spaces sit empty each day and evening. I always made allowances for the fact that much of Reinke's merchandise is over-priced junk because of the delightful whimsy of their store, the latex monsters, the year round Halloween atmosphere. However the fact is that you can find most anything they offer elsewhere in Denver and usually cheaper. While they offer expensive stage quality props and costumes, the merchandise aimed at the average Joe or Annette headed to a costume party is Chinese made junk. You are better off heading to the Goodwill store. Aside from the fact that folks are boycotting the parking lot - I used to park in the lot and take friends through the store when dining downtown. Priceless advertising. Now I point it out as the gouging bastards. I suggest that area merchants have their friends and family park in all the street parking spots surrounding Reinke Brothers this fall when they stage their Haunted House. And for those wishing to patronize the many excellent downtown businesses, you can always park over at Arapahoe Community College and walk the two blocks to Main Street. read more

I have lived in Colorado all my life and didn't know about this place! Don't know how I missed it. It is a jammed pack shop with every possible Halloween item you could want! Magic stuff too! Lots of high quality rentals, with several displayed around the store and more in a big catalog. We went there to hit the haunted house they have every year. Heard it was good for kids and my stepson had never been to one. We got there just as it opened and so we were the only one's in there - but that was probably best since it was his first time! On the order...one civil war costume for a 10 year old boy. I went in to the shop and Richard took us into his care to explain about the uniform colors that the two armys used and get him fitted for a costume. He even explained what the different band colors on a "capie" were and to which part of the armies they belonged. A few minutes later with one happy boy we were out the door with a full costume and accessories! One can buy or rent costumes here for children and adults. It's obvious to me that a lot of time and effort went into creating each room for this house, but after reading the descriptions before visiting I was a little disappointed. I guess when I hear 'haunted mansion' in downtown Littleton, I thought it would at least be a free standing old house or something, I wasn't expecting for it to be in half of a store space. The price is around average with some of your other options around Denver, but to be honest I feel that I could have paid less. I should mention that for being in the small space that it appeared to be in, the whole house was surprisingly lengthy. My husband and I both agreed that this house was really only lacking one thing, a central focus. He said, "It's really hard to make the jump from Dracula, to Aliens, to Wizard of Oz."
