Way too crowded at the Halloween exhibit! Strollers of all sizes were allowed, making it nearly impossible to move around. People weren't paying attention to their surroundings, kids were running through the dark, and parents kept stopping short or cutting across the crowds. The layout is just a circular walk and while a few exhibits were creative and fun for younger kids, it's definitely geared toward ages 8 and under. Don't expect any scare factor unless you wander off the path into a ditch (which isn't safe!). We skipped the food and drinks, but I did notice a turkey leg going for $22 - pretty steep. Traffic getting in and out was also a nightmare. Hate to leave a negative review, but overall, this one just wasn't worth the time or money. read more

The Hudson Gardens is exceptionally beautiful and peaceful, and we make it a point to attend their Halloween event, the Magic of the Jack O' Lanterns, which always proves to be a delightful experience. We loved Hudson Gardens and visited three times during our stay in Littleton, and were surprised to see my fellow Yelper's 3.6 star average review. Some of the reviews were for specific events here, like Halloween and Christmas. We were here for several morning strolls amongst the pathways, fountains and flowers. They have a beautiful layout over their thirty acres, a small basic cafe for coffee, drinks and sandwiches, and a gift shop. They backup to a long bike trail for those looking for a heartier workout, access is available near the cafe. On this visit they had a model train layout with three trains running and a volunteer who kept the trains on track, including a Thomas the Tank engine. We weren't sure if this was a temporary or permanent feature, and thought it was nicely done. I think both adults and children would enjoy this. They were set up for their Halloween event, "The Magic of the Jack O'Lanterns" with 7,000 hand-carved pumpkins and large scale pumpkin displays. This was open, but not lit up, during the day, and provided some interesting variety for our walk abouts. Hudson Gardens is free except for events, and for those in the area looking for a pleasant and easy walk, I think this is a great place to visit. read more

We came here for Magic of the Jack o lanterns for the 2nd year and could not be happier with our experience! Our kids loved all the lights, everything was set up perfectly and they had some yummy snacks and drinks for sale. Went birdwatching there with a DU group Saturday morning. Very good experience until I made the mistake of stopping by the gift shop for a quick browse. The tiny little blonde "karen" working the shop was very rude to me. (All I can think of is that I was in birdwatching garb with backpack, walking stick and camera bag) and she obviously jumped to the conclusion I was "homeless". The gardens are absolutely STUNNING, however don't be tricked into the Magic of the Jack-o-lanterns event. This may be one of the most poorly run events I've ever experienced. Parking is non-existent so you have to park off site which for us ended up being over a mile away, which doesn't seem that far but when it's cold it's miserable. We had tickets for an 8:15 entry and didn't enter the gates until almost 9:30...that's ridiculous. Also, zero and I mean ZERO security measures, so that definitely doesn't make me feel comfortable especially when they clearly oversold the event so you put frustrated customers in the cold shoulder to shoulder with each other and don't have metal detectors or bag restrictions...in Aurora of all places. Yikes! The displays themselves were stunning just so sad it was so uncomfortably crowded it was not enjoyable and something I'd never do again nor recommend. read more

We had an amazing Wedding Day at Hudson. Our ceremony was in the rose garden and reception at the Inn. Erin was helpful every step of the way and had great vendor recommendations. She was always very responsive and on top of what needed to get done. Its truly a beautiful space and at a very reasonable price. My thing for 2024 is no hurries, no worries. I think anything with lights is beautiful. It's why I love fireworks and will always check out anything that keeps the holidays around longer. Plenty of parking and plenty of tickets available for the season to catch this! Friendly staff to help guide and navigate you during the trails as well. Who doesn't appreciate chill nights with good company and mellow vibes? While this was a smaller venue than the Denver Botanical Gardens, this was super cute way to end an evening if you went to Carboy Winery or Breckenridge Brewery for drinks and dinner. My favorite section was the opening of the trail at the entrance. You got greeted by a light show of cheerful little "mushrooms" and tulips. The second fave spot is the dome because the playlist there makes you want to pretty much knock out several calories with a sweat session dancing the evening away. The next one is the laser forest which reminded me of the fireflies I saw in Bangkok at the floating market at night. Also, great playlist here and we danced under the stars with little care in the world. Maybe even sneak a kiss because it's pretty dark in this area. Oh yeah, wear comfy shoes like Sorel boots or your fave rain boots, anything that can get a little dirty since the snow had melted and left a bit of a mess. Loved the beverage station and I suggest getting the hot cocoa with the white chocolate liqueur. Be the reason someone smiles today. Or the reason they drink. Whatever works! Who knew there was a free independent garden in Littleton? This is a beautiful place where you can spend the afternoon and stroll among the flowers or bring a book to relax! There is more to see than just flowers! Bee hives are on the grounds along with many beautiful ponds, fountains, mature trees, picnic tables, benches to rest and art! We visited Hudson Gardens for the Magic of the Jack o Lanterns event. Now you must buy tickets and make the reservation online. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to park and walk because it's super crowded. There are employees managing traffic and directing you to the lots and then you have a walk to the gardens. It's beyond crowded and very dark so keep an eye on your party. They have port-a-potties and portable sinks that have no lights so you have to use your phone light. There are vendors selling food and drinks. The light displays are really impressive and we had fun except for of course the crazy amount of people and dark path. Just be patient and be prepared and you should have a decent time. read more

The ticket price for Hudson Garden Lights was outrageous. $22 a person. I do not think what I saw was worth that, and certainly need to offer more if you expect people to pay your steep price. Honestly the price put me in a bad mood and I was just thinking "not worth it" the entire time. If the price was like $15... sure. C'mon... stop ripping people off. read more

We have been to concerts here in the summer and had a great time (pre-covid). Went to the Christmas lights this year and were EXTREMELY disappointed. Very short trail, no lights in actual trees, many of the lights up were fairly generic and boring. There were two cool things - a section with laser-type lights that made it feel as if you were walking through a grove of fireflies and the large "stained-glass cube" thing in the center. Those were both nice, but overall a serious let-down for the money and build-up. And yes, we saw photos from past years and apparently it used to be much, much better. Go to the Botanic Gardens, either in Denver or the Chatfield/Littleton location, for a better experience. read more

On a beautiful day, a trip to Hudson Gardens is a must. There are several different ponds, beautiful flowers and lily pads, they even had an apiary and vegetable garden. The grounds are well kept and the area is quite large. Benches are spaced out around the grounds if you need a breather or to take in the quiet calm. Hopefully they bring back concerts because I would love to experience one here on the grass. Not only do they have concerts, but they host special events throughout the year so keep an eye out on their website for fun things to do. read more

We brought our son to the magic of the jack o lanterns event and it was such a great experience! We had been here before for their Christmas lights and we were very disappointed in that set up, but the Halloween display was so much better!! The only downside was that it was extremely packed, they have you buy timed tickets but don't actually enforce the times so it was extremely crowded. All in all it was a great experience and my son absolutely loved it! I would recommend coming to check out the magic of the jack o lanterns!! read more

*Magic of the Jack o' Lanterns* Back to Hudson Gardens once again but this time to attend the fall event, "Magic of the Jack o'Lanterns". This event sold out fast and with such huge attendance. The Hudson was well decorated but in this case using artificial pumpkins. I wasn't sure about the theme but i figured maybe just pumpkins because there were carvings of animals, celebrities, athletes and of course other worldly spirits. I love The Hudson as the venue is more open to allow visitors a comfortable walk through. The displays were magical, it just missed the element of actual pumpkins being on display. Still it was a lovely event and I enjoy being a Hudson Gardens member. I am ever appreciative to visit whether to attend one of many in person events (their online events are very educational as well) or to just take a peaceful stroll thru the gardens. Masks are recommended, not required. Food and beverage available at Nixon's (inside The Hudson). Save yourself time on event days and park at Arapahoe Community College. It's a nice walk across the street but good for the legs! read more

Magic of the Jack O'Lanterns has returned in all it's spooky glory for Halloween season. Located at Hudson Gardens in Littleton, Magic of the Jack O'Lanterns features over 7,000 hand carved pumpkins & larger than life pumpkin displays. The exhibit is family friendly and provides Halloween delights for all ages. We arrived at Hudson Gardens and found parking in an overflow lot. Free parking for Magic of the Jack O'Lanterns is available onsite and free overflow parking is available across South Santa Fe Drive at Arapahoe Community College. Once parked, we headed inside Hudson Gardens and began enjoying the exhibit. There was a glowing trail that we followed through all of the Halloween displays. The walking trail was 1/2 mile and the event was entirely outdoors - we made sure to dress appropriately in jackets and wore comfortable walking shoes. The pumpkin displays were brilliantly aglow and included a pumpkin graveyard (my favorite), a nautical sea-scape, dinosaurs, dragons and so much more. There were drink stations and food trucks throughout the event space. There was alcohol available for purchase for those 21+ (IDs were checked onsite). We stopped to grab some eats about halfway through the exhibit. Unfortunately there were no tables to enjoy the food at. Since there wasn't ample seating, we had to eat standing up until the one bench that was available became vacant. There should be picnic tables added to the exhibit so patrons can enjoy food & drink purchased. We started with grilled cheeses from the Cheese Love Grill which featured Rocky Mountain gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. I had the BBQ Chicken Grilled Cheese and Ross had the Street Taco Grilled Cheese. These were the best grilled cheeses we've ever had. The BBQ Chicken Grilled Cheese was made with BBQ chicken, cheddar jack cheese & ranch on sourdough. The sweetness from the BBQ and tanginess from the cheese were everything. The crunch of the buttery sourdough enveloped each gooey, piping hot bite of cheese, ranch & shredded chicken. The Street Taco Grilled Cheese was made with carne asada, mozzarella & green chili on sourdough. This was an insanely tasty comfort food grilled cheese. The tender carne asada and melty mozzarella made for the perfect savory flavor combo. The green chili provided a tangy taste of tomatillos with a subtle warm, sweetness. For dessert we had the Cookies & Cream Funnel Cake. The Cookies & Cream Funnel Cake was a hefty serving of deep fried dough topped with powdered sugar, chocolate drizzle, whipped cream & Oreo cookie crumbles - the ultimate Halloween treat Once we finished eating, we got back on the exhibit trail and continued enjoying the pumpkin displays. This was such a fun way to get into the Halloween spirit and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. read more

12/21/24- This was my first time here and we went to see there Christmas lights. Things started going wrong as soon as we got there. On their website it said that in person ticket sales started at 4:30pm, but when we got there they told us that ticket sales wouldn't open until 5pm which was the same time the event was supposed to open. Then we went into the gift shop to see if we could use the restroom, but they told us we had to use the port-a-potties back out front. A place should have easy access for restrooms, and they could have easily roped off the restrooms behind the gift shop for people to use before they open for the night. One of the port-a-potties was supposed to be ADA, but ADA ones aren't really that accessible even though the manufacturers try. Not to mention clean issues when compared to normal toilets which can impact people with certain issues. This is a good example of a place "trying" to do the bear minimum to meet customer needs without meeting those needs. I was sad that they didn't have actual tickets for you to keep as a souvenir and they have an app thing which is an issue to download. The lady let us skip downloading the app and called the front gate to let them know we were coming. Too many businesses are going to apps and phones only hold so much. Businesses need to stop focusing on apps so much. Once inside things were ok. For people with walking issues it took us about 1.5 hours to get around the whole thing, but able bodied people could have done it in about half an hour, so this had me question their price to lights ratio which seemed high when compared to other displays around the city. The drinks at the coffee shop were ok priced, but not that good and the brownie was gross. Their alcohol drinks were way overpriced for the super small size. I would say the best part of the event was the make your own s'mores for $5 which let you make 2 stores. I gave this place a try even though my friend had major issues trying to have her wedding there back in 2023. This place has potential, but current is just lacking in everything they are doing. read more

We feel lucky to have it near by. There are fun shows that they host, and it's beautiful to walk around. Not the biggest park, but definitely a nice strolling park to walk and talk. The parking for events is a little hassle, but parking attendants help. Last time we were there was for the Littleton Symphony Orchestra and it was free! Hard part was where they hosted the event. It was brutally hot. So many umbrellas to block the heat that we couldn't see the orchestra. But the rest of the park was lovely. read more

With as many times I have visited the gardens I am surprised I have not done a review. This place is free and amazing ... stunning!!! It's a beautiful garden that hangs out off in Santa Fe and totally worth the random fun adventure. It also lines right up against the bike trail I love where there is water ponds streams to view have fun and absorb all the wonderfulness. We love it here for kids play dates, family day fun, or just place sit relax enjoy and absorb the beauty in itself to help relax and appreciate every day. I wish there were more places like this but I appreciate having this so close to home for the kids to enjoy. read more

I have always liked Hudson Gardens and this visit was for The Magic of the Jack O'Lanterns. It's put on by an outside company who manages ticket sales and brings in all the decorations. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because that company's ticket sale process isn't great. There was nowhere on their website stating the hours for the event so when I went in to buy tickets the first available time I saw was 6:45 pm. There wasn't a way to find out what the earliest admission time was and when I called Hudson Gardens, they weren't sure either. So I bought the more expensive "flex" tickets to be sure we could get in early. Later I found out that 6:45 was the earliest time and I could have easily purchased those tickets. They have a strict "no refunds" policy and wouldn't work with me. Lesson learned! Anyway, our group of five (including my 2 year old granddaughter) loved the event. They promote it as "This Fall, The Magic of the Jack O'Lanterns will delight adults and children alike under a glow of 5,000 magnificent, hand-carved pumpkins and larger than life fumpkin displays. A magical carnival, a nautical sea-scape and dinosaurs and dragons will illuminate the grounds of Hudson Gardens in a soft, inviting glow where you'll find magic around every corner." That is a perfect description. Each area had a different theme and all of them were fun and engaging. We even stopped at the snack truck for a funnel cake. I had the s'mores funnel cake and it was way too big and messy but tasted great. Even though entry was timed, the line to get in was huge. They had people parking across Santa Fe at the community college and walking over. Fortunately we had my daughter in a wheel chair due to a sprained ankle so they let us park in the handicap area and go around the long, winding line to the front of the entrance area. I would recommend people arrive way before their timed entry to get in line. This was such a fun event and a great alternative to the colder weather light/decoration events that will be popping up later in the season. Hudson Gardens itself is a great place to visit during the day and this event created a really enjoyable evening. read more

I think this is one of the best kept open secrets outside of the city. Living in Colorado, we sometimes are looking for something so grand, we forget to be greatful for the beauty in smaller things. Tucked away in Littleton, the Hudson Gardens are a beautiful, well maintained free botanic gardens open to the public. The landscaping here is top notch and the peacefulness is unmatched. It's usually not too crowded, unless there is an event going on, and there is a nice walking/ biking trails that connects out back if you want to explore a little more. A beautiful venue for events or to just appreciate what daily life has to offer. read more

This post is refering to the Christmas lights. For 20$ a person, it's a complete disappointment. They make you throw away any warm drinks you have only to have overpriced coffee or hot chocolate. They didn't wrap any trees with lights, rather they put a color changing spot lights under a tree every 15-20 feet on the gracious side. Their "laser garden" was horrible, and very few actual Christmas decorations. It was for a lack of better words piss poor scam. 3/4ths of the walkway was closed and unlit. You can have a better time with you and your family driving through neighborhoods and seeing house lights. Whether you have the money or not do not go. UPDATE! While I tend to come here during the summer months for outdoor concerts, it was at the suggestion of my parents that we experience the Christmas lights displayed over the long holiday weekend. After hearing great things, my dad bought tickets online, and off we went this past Saturday night! Now I'll admit, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, as I actually haven't been to an outdoor light experience like this. Their wooded terrain completely transformed into a winter wonderland with brightly lit lights covering branches, stumps and buildings alike. Santa made a rare appearance, hot chocolate and other non-boozy beverages are served for a price and the walk itself it pretty nice. However, the night we went was freeeeeeezing, no one checked our tickets (making it easy for anyone to enter whether they had paid or not) and were a little underwhelmed by the entire experience. The path was extremely spread out (which makes it difficult for those who need assistance), there weren't a ton of photo ops and I didn't think it really warrant the $10.50 price tag. I guess I was expecting more interactive type lights, or something a little livelier, but it was a holiday experience nonetheless. Next year, I think I'll try the Zoo Lights. read more
