I've been coming to the Chevy Chase office 5530 Wisconsin Ave. for over 20 years and even brought my daughter here, but after today's visit, I don't think I'll be returning. It's really unfortunate because this used to be such a great practice. Many of the original doctors have retired, and the atmosphere has definitely changed. The staff at the front weren't very welcoming, and one receptionist was eating lunch and didn't even look up. The office was messy and dirty, with overflowing trash bins and clutter everywhere. the exam room was ok. I've always liked the doctors and the care I received in the past, but the overall experience today was disappointing and not what it used to be. read more

My overall experience with this office was disappointing. While the doctor was pleasant and provided helpful information, there was little effort to build a genuine connection or convey an interest in patient retention. Patients want to feel heard, valued, and cared for, which I did not experience here. Additionally, the staff member who drew my blood seemed disengaged and lacking in social awareness. When I asked if she was using the smallest needle, she proceeded without addressing my concern. I asked her if she heard me, and only then did she respond by asking what I had said. The interaction felt rushed and impersonal, with very little communication throughout the procedure. Although I appreciate the doctor's knowledge, the overall quality of care and patient experience fell short of expectations. Pay the staff more because the energy is low on a Wednesday. read more

Showed uo and was told it's next week on Friday... it didn't say that in the phone call reminder and the appointment I was made. If you're experiencing perimenopause and having a terrible time--even if other doctors have brushed you off and said that you're too young--you NEED to set up an appointment with Jen Lanoff. I was having so many terrible symptoms that Jen has fixed with MHT. She listened to me when no one else did. (As a comparison, the last time I tried to get help with a different provider BEFORE I found Jen Lanoff, I left the doctor's office in tears because the gynecologist told me there was nothing they could do but put me on hormonal birth control.) Jen is not only brilliant, but she's funny and compassionate as well. I wish that every person dealing with the menopause transition could have a healthcare provider as wonderful as Jen. read more

Doctors spend a total of 5 minutes with you and you always feel rushed. They barely answer any questions, I always feel like they try to get you out as soon as possible after waiting for see them for 30 minutes, they should at least offer up more time to answer questions or go over the pregnancy thoroughly. It's always do you have any questions for us? no ok all looks good have a good day! Definitely not what I expect if I'm pregnant I want a thorough visit with my provider. The front desk lady ( white heavier set lady) is not nice either. She needs to learn office etiquette and how to speak nicely to patients. read more

This practice has gone downhill. Front desk folks are always great, but the quality of care varies widely depending on which provider you get. I recently had the most traumatic medical procedure of my life there. I was not adequately prepared by providers prior to or after the procedure. I was told while already in stirrups "This is the most painful thing we can do to you without anesthesia." Nice bedside manner, right? I nearly passed out from the pain and they left me in a room alone to recover from the medical trauma. Not a trauma-informed or trauma-sensitive practice at all. Also, they do not return calls in a timely fashion. More than three business days have gone by and I have gotten no response to my latest communication with them. I'm leaving and not coming back. Make sure you demand pain management for painful procedures. You deserve it. read more

I'm can't remember the name of the heavy set lady with the fine hair in falls church office at the front desk but she was very curt, kind of nasty/rude and just not welcoming especially today. I kind of picked up on this before but let it slide but not today. I am 39 weeks and 4 days and let me just say this practice has gone down so BAD over the years and it's quite sickening to say the least. Ive been at this practice for over 10 years and the care, bedside mannerism is just not good. I can't wait to finally deliver and get this over with so I can really come back here and detail my experience. I am grateful to be able to work with her as she views patient care with the preventive/public health lens that can offer sustainable wellbeing while balancing this with her expert knowledge of industry best practices in treatment. She also made efforts to improve care coordination across all of my providers. I appreciate that she does research to improve the patient experience and works with me to make decisions. Refused me an appointment over $30 balance even though I have been going here for years and offered to pay when arriving for my appointment . I will be going elsewhere after the Corona virus debacle. I had a great experience today at RHJ with Dr. Busch. This was my second ever visit but first under COVID restrictions. I must say that the office was so clean and effectively set up for social distancing, every staff member and visitor was properly wearing a mask, and I didn't have to wait very long before going to the back. Interactions were limited but didn't not feel rushed; I could tell that the office is taking everyone's safety as the highest priority. Having had a great provider in New York for years before I relocated to Virginia, I was so glad to find Dr. Busch. She has the same warmth and kindness that my former provider did; she's also just as attentive and professional. I do not feel uncomfortable or ashamed at all when discussing my wellness with Dr. Busch. She makes sure that I'm comfortable, informed, and--above all--as healthy as possible. I'm very thankful for her expertise and approachability. I would recommend her to family, friends, and all. read more

It's really strange writing "woohoo! as good as it gets!" (the five-star rating) about a gynecologist. It's a GYN, after all. But as far as having a pleasant experience that doesn't leave me feeling overly violated and squidgy, this practice is great. I can't speak to the obstetric portion of the practice; I visited for a colposcopy with Dr. Blackburn, and the process was smooth, from arrival to finish. Dr. Blackburn is friendly, efficient, and thorough. While I'm grateful that my cervix proved uneventful, I have a feeling that anything critical would be addressed with heart and thorough options. Dr. Blackburn is able to explain the procedure in detail in layman's terms, and her assistant (I'm so sorry; I'm forgetting your name!) was also wonderful. Even the front desk worker was friendly, and was a great addition to my visit. read more

Do yourself a favor and go to the Falls Church location if you can. It's accessible from the Falls Church metro...I'd say a 10 or 15 minute walk. It's WAY less crowded than the DC location and I rarely have to wait more than 10 minutes to see someone. Dr. Busch has been my doctor for almost 10 years now and she's amazing. I'm just sad she doesn't do deliveries, but I'm sure that when my time comes I'll (hopefully) have a pleasant experience. One up side of that is that during your pregnancy, you see a wide array of doctors from the practice, so when you do deliver, odds are high that you will be familiar with that doctor. My one gripe is their seemingly primitive call center...they're a big and popular enough practice that they can afford to invest in an online appointment scheduler. Either that, or have phone lines open during lunch when most people have time to call and schedule an appointment. read more

Yesterday I saw Dr Nevin at Reiter, Hill, Johnson and Nevin in falls church. Easy parking. From the receptionist (so pleasant!) to the nurse (barely felt a thing when she took blood) to the actual doctor - outstanding! I was really impressed, and I see a lot of doctors. Now, I'm not going for OB purposes, just for regular GYN. But I did a lot of research and chose Nevin specifically for her specialties and experience. She's wicked smart, proactive, incredibly thorough - she sat down and went through my entire chart and medical history with me before I changed into a gown - basically the opposite experience you would have at, say, physicians and midwives in Alexandria. I just wanted to share my personal experience because I have the feeling this is a really excellent practice. She has specialties in breast and ovarian genetics in addition to being a "regular" OBGYN and I can't say how valuable that is to someone on the other side of cancer. So, just a shout-out in case anyone is looking for a great doctor, especially for someone needing a "regular" OBGYN after going through ovarian cancer, feeling like you need a doctor with more knowledge than the average gynecologist. read more

I've been a patient for over a year and overall I would recommend this practice. Every Dr I've seen has been amazing. I started seeing Dr Blackburn (LOVE her) as my Gyno and since I became a patient I got pregnant and have seen the majority of their OBs and have really liked every single one. I hate to deduct one star, but I am because there is consistently a 15-30 minute wait, however I have learned that this is standard at most Drs offices. And their call center can be really burdensome; there have been days where I've called to schedule an appointment and waited for 20-30 minutes and still couldn't get through to someone. And there's no way to just call the front desk (that I know of) to notify them if you're running a few minutes late for an appointment, as all calls go through the call center. That said, I had an emergency situation and the call center had a Dr call me back in less than 5 minutes. read more

Dr. Hill was just an amazing doctor - This was my first somewhat pleasant visit to a gynecologist! I was prepared to be underwhelmed, uncomfortable, and fairly displeased, like always. I have to say that: * Upon calling, my appointment was scheduled for a reasonable date, not too far out. So far so good. * I received a reminder call the night before. * I was seen immediately, as per my scheduled appointment time (would have been earlier if I had completed my paperwork in advance like one is supposed to do... ) * Above all, I was assigned to Dr. Charlie Hill and he was the nicest, most pleasant doctor, who LISTENED to each of my concerns AND addressed them all, never acting like I was wasting his time. This also happens to have been the first annual exam without pain for me--in fact, the 'worst' part was over before I knew it. I wish all of my years had been this easy. I was in and out of there. I WILL be going back to this office for next year's visit. Five stars. read more

Appointments run consistently late so be prepared to wait 30+ minutes in the wait room and another 15 or so in the exam room, all with no apology. If you value your time find a different practice. Update: here for a routine annual exam and waiting 45 minutes and counting in the exam room wearing this stupid paper robe. Time for a new doctor who actually respects people's time. Btw I'm the second appointment of the day so there is literally no excuse. read more

am really shocked by the previous reviews on this practice. I have been using this practice for the past 6 years and am currently in my first pregnancy with them. From the front office staff to my doctor I have had nothing but great experiences. I never wait long. The receptionist whether on the phone or in person have been so kind and professional with me. They've been patient with me when I've asked to book 4 or 5 appointments in advance. My primary Doctor has been Dr. Jackson and I love her. She makes me feel so comfortable. I have seen 3 other Doctors in the practice during my pregnancy, when Dr. Jackson was unavailable, and I love how every Doctor was up to speed on everything about me. I didn't need to re explain anything to them. They took so much care and even caught potentially high risk symptoms beforehand and were able to prevent a potentially bad situation. The only thing that I had to wrap my head around with the practice is that even though you may see 1 Doctor throughout your pregnancy there may be a chance that another Doctor in the practice will deliver your baby; as they rotate the Doctors on call. I was nervous about that but I have faith that everything will be fine; and after having other friends deliver babies that is actually not uncommon in hospitals seeing as though you never know when you will deliver and sometimes another Doctor may need to step in if you Doctor is unavailable. I love Sibley hospital so I feel like you are in good hands either way. Now I completely understand that people have bad days and personalities clash but I've had that experience no matter where i have gone. One thing that helped me make RHJN a great experience for me is I speak up. I ask questions and I question responses; and I have NO problem getting 2 or 3 opinions if I do not feel comfortable and they have been ok with that. read more

This is by far, the worst practice around. I had been going here for years. I reached my last straw the other day when they denied me the ability to make an appointment because I had a $32 balance. I have paid over $500 to them over the last several month and they won't let me make an appointment because I owe $32? . In their DC office, I have also been made to sit in the waiting room for 45 minutes after a sonogram confirming a miscarriage and then being greeted by both the nurse and doctor having absolutely no clue why I'm there or that I was miscarrying. I felt completely violated and disrespected by at particular incident. The people who work here are rude and unprofessional. They used to have a very nice staff, but I have no idea were they went. The bottom line is this, If you want to get treated with respect and dignity DO NOT come here. read more

I've been to all three Reiter Hill locations and this one is, by far, the best. Shannon at the front desk is always super friendly and helpful. Actually everyone in that office is, though Shannon stands out. I've been a patient of Dr. Jackson's for over 10 years and I can't imagine seeing anyone else. Left the practice after being a patient for 10 years and going through one pregnancy. The doctors are great. But the practice has completely gone downhill, particularly since being purchased by Advantia. The final straw for me was catching their billing department submitting erroneous and fraudulent insurance claims and billing me for services I did not receive. After bringing this to their attention and being told it would be corrected, I was then accosted at my next appointment at the front desk, and forced to stand in the front of the waiting room and speak on the phone to a billing supervisor, demanding I pay my balance without being able to see documentation that the charges had been corrected. I paid it, because what else was I going to do in this situation? But after that I swore I'd never go back. If you choose to be a patient here, beware and make sure you check your bills over thoroughly. read more

For the past year I have seen Nidhi Reva who is the best (any my favorite) medical professional. She is caring, asks lots of questions and gives really good advice. I've been a patient here for several years, first just for gynecologist appointments with Dr. Busch (who is really great!), and then when I got pregnant I started going to all by OB appointments there. So I've met almost every doctor at the practice and have genuinely enjoyed all of them, particularly Dr. Engle, Dr. De Mik, and both Dr. Kings. Their online patient portal is really helpful, and I've never had a problem with scheduling or rescheduling appointments. parking is easy, its close to the metro, and for OB patients- its across the hall from a pediatrician (Capital Area Pediatrics), so we ended up becoming pediatrician patients there. read more

I was lucky when I found this OBGYN center. Starting from front desk everyone is very attentive and helpful. Genikolog's are amazing and very professional. I had my two boys with them . Thank god and thank to them I didn't have any problem and during pregnancy and labour . My first OBGYN was Dr Piterson and second one was Dr Abraham . Thank you for their help. I cannot describe to you the HORRIBLE level of skill, ability and/or courteousness of the staff here. They're so terrible, it outweighs the effort of going to see their doctors. My appointments, on a consistent basis, were messed up by their staff which means I had to take MORE time off work and rearrange my schedule. I called for records and was met with the rudest responses. So. Bad. 9 out of 10 people on their staff are just the worst. I've been a patient at RHJN for several years having gone to both the DC and Chevy Chase offices. I have highly recommended Dr. Radecki in the past. I recently gave birth to my first child and Dr. De Mik was the doctor on duty when I went into labor. I was a little nervous as I had never seen Dr. De Mik prior to my delivery date, but he was amazing. He was respectful of my birth plan wishes, but also allowed for flexibility when my initial plan was no longer an option. In the end I had to have an emergency c-section and Dr. De Mik not only took the time to thoroughly explain the reason for the c-section and the procedure, but answered each of my questions. He was attentive during my in hospital recovery and follow up appointments. He is not only highly skilled but has a warm demeanor that easily but me at ease though every step of my delivery and recovery. read more
