I inquired about what it was for, exactly. (I was wondering if it covered things like the lab work and any extra test they may deem necessary in the treatment of a problem or maybe even a 24/7 type service for any possible emergency questions, things like that I would have been ok with, if they were phenomenal, but nope... ,"It's for any paperwork, forms to fill out and referrals" Huh? "Well, I don't need any of those services"... "It's our office policy" OK. Great. Maybe you should include that in you listing on the insurance sites, your patient portal sites and on the Front Page of your website. That is a ridiculous policy. I work in the medical field. I know how to bill insurance and what is covered. I even understand the frustration of that from your side, but, that is not a good enough reason to drive potential customers away. It's just bad customer service. You should be showing these fees on front page of website and on any insurance sites or just say you are not accepting new patients so you don't waste anyone's time. Why would anyone pay this ridiculous fee and their copay just for a typical annual exam?

During my second appointment which was on a Friday at 3 p.m., I waited almost 50 minutes to see the doctor, who only spent a few minutes with me. When I went to get my blood drawn afterward, the lab technician told me they were closed -- even though it was only 3:55 p.m. and their hours are until 4 p.m. After I insisted that I needed the bloodwork done, she reluctantly agreed but was very rude about it. At my next appointment, which was also on a Friday at 3 p.m., I needed bloodwork again. This time, I told the tech taking my vitals if I could have my blood drawn before seeing the doctor. She assured me it would be fine to do it after. Once my appointment ended around 3:55 p.m., I went to the lab, where the same technician and her colleague refused to take my blood and said I could go to the hospital tomorrow to get it done. My husband had to step in and remind them that we both took off work for this appointment before they finally agreed to do it. Around my 25th week appointment, I mentioned to the covering doctor that I was experiencing pelvic pain and difficulty walking. Her response was, "It's only going to get worse, that's pregnancy." When I brought up that I had read about physical therapy, massage, or acupuncture helping, she agreed those were options but told me to "Google it" when I asked for recommendations. The lack of support and empathy was disappointing. Later in my pregnancy, the practice announced they were moving deliveries from Shady Grove to Holy Cross Silver Spring. I looked up reviews for the Silver Spring hospital and also discussed it with my doula, who shared that she had really negative experiences there. I reached out to the clinic to ask if I could deliver at Holy Cross Germantown instead and was told that was acceptable so I registered at Germantown. At my next appointment, I mentioned in passing to Dr. Prosper that I was registered at Germantown. She responded abruptly and told me I was "not allowed" to deliver there. When I explained my reasoning and mentioned that I had already paid for my doula, she was dismissive and unkind. That conversation was the final straw for me. I had already been uncomfortable with the practice but had to stay because I was so far along and couldn't find another provider. I went on to deliver at Holy Cross Germantown, where I had a wonderful experience with my doula and the hospital staff. Unfortunately, I experienced postpartum complications and scheduled a follow-up with Dr. Prosper. During that appointment, she told me she "couldn't help" and reminded me that I "chose to deliver somewhere else,". I ended up going to the ER for help. About a week later, I received a call saying that Dr. Prosper had canceled my 6-week postpartum appointment because I delivered at Germantown. As a new mom still recovering from complications, this was extremely upsetting and unprofessional. I then called the Silver Spring location, where I was met with empathy, professionalism, and understanding. They immediately scheduled me for my 6-week checkup and assured me that what happened was unacceptable. They also confirmed that they already had all my medical records, meaning Dr. Prosper's lied when she said she couldn't help me and she had no records of my delivery. I would strongly caution anyone considering the Rockville location to think twice. No patient should have to experience the level of disrespect and lack of care that I did during such an important time.

They took me in 20 minutes late which is the reason for the 4 stars. They had so many people in the waiting room and I heard one person say she was waiting 30 minutes to be seen. I did like all the employees. Everyone was very friendly and gave clear instructions. When I got taken to the exam room and had to undress I was surprised there was only disposable gowns and blankets to wear. I am not sure if this is because of covid but I miss the softness of cloth. Also the spot to put your feet during the exam didn't have little socks on the foot holders so my feet kept sliding off. Some aesthetics in this office leave room for improvement, however the doctors and the environment were so nice it was forgivable. Dr. Huang was wonderful. She was friendly and answered all my questions about pregnancy. I liked her gentle touch and how much she communicated with me during the exam. I am very nervous at OBGYN appointments and she did a great job helping me relax. Because I liked her so much I will definitely return to this practice when I am pregnant. I also want to note that this office took care of many patients where English was not their first language. It's great that this practice can accommodate so many people.

They don't remember anything from prior visits, there's barely any follow-through & everything feels rushed & impersonal. Now, they've added insult to injury by announcing that they're going to start charging patients for basic services--things we can't even do ourselves. Even something as simple as a prescription refill feels like you're bothering the nurse or PA. It's crystal clear: they don't care about patient well-being anymore, they just care about squeezing more money out of you. And to top it all off, they had the nerve to send out this email announcing the new fees--while shamelessly promoting their extra services at the bottom. While some of the providers were fantastic, my experience with Dr. Scott Osmun was absolutely horrific. When I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, Dr. Osmun was incredibly negative, relying on scare tactics and outdated data rather than providing balanced, evidence-based guidance. When I asked him to send me literature to support his claims, he couldn't--or simply didn't. Instead of offering support, he made an already stressful diagnosis even more overwhelming. Unfortunately, I ended up delivering with him as well, and the experience was just as frustrating. He insisted a C-section was inevitable because I wasn't progressing fast enough. I requested a few more hours with my doula (most doulas refuse to work with Bloom because of Dr. Osmun), and we used positional techniques--something he completely dismissed--to help labor progress. Sure enough, I was able to fully dilate to 10 cm. Then, he insisted I would need forceps or a vacuum because my baby was hitting my pelvic bone. Again, we asked for more time, and I was able to deliver my baby without intervention. Instead of allowing me the standard 30 minutes to deliver my placenta naturally, Dr. Osmun immediately performed a manual extraction, a painful and unnecessary intervention. His priority seemed to be rushing the process rather than respecting my body's ability to do what it needed. In appointments, he was condescending and dismissive, treating me like I was an uninformed mother who knew nothing--despite my background in health. His attitude, coupled with his outdated approach to care, made me feel unheard and disregarded. That being said, I absolutely loved Dr. Abdalla, Lauren Gordon, and Clare Heintzelman. They provided compassionate, thoughtful care, and I truly appreciated their expertise. However, no matter how great they are, the risk of ending up with Dr. Osmun again has made me switch practices. Another issue with Bloom OBGYN is their annual $100 fee, which feels classist and unnecessary for a practice already profiting from patient care. Overall, while some of the doctors here are excellent, my experience with Dr. Osmun was enough to make me leave the practice entirely. If you're considering Bloom, be mindful of which provider you see.

I made the appt six weeks out and then lost it because their system is horrible. They don't ask you to confirm your cancellation. It's just cancelled. No second chance. No email. I needed the appt to refill prescriptions before the end of the year. They refused to rebook my appt. even when I said it was a medical issue. I emailed the office several times using their portal with no luck. They said to call the day when I had my original appt to see if someone had cancelled. So I did. Guess what?! My original appointment time was available! There's something wrong here. I want to note that the in-office staff were all pleasant and friendly. It was the call center staff and manager who were unhelpful. Customer service is apparently not a priority for GWU. That's unfortunate.
