I couldn't drive for an hour without severe pain. I would have my wife drive and I would assume my favorite position in the back seat. Serena spent a half hour checking me out, then gave me six exercises to do every morning and said it would take six weeks for the sciatica to heal. That was six months ago. The pain did go away within six weeks and has not returned. I still take 5-10 minutes a day doing the exercises, and recently drove four hours to see my son and his family without problems. Landed oddly on a rebound and immediately felt something off in my right side lower back. I self-rehabbed at home, but couldn't get to a point where I had the confidence to lift or hoop confidently. I came to Progressive Motion hoping to assess my injury, gain the tools I needed to get back to hooping/lifting, and hopefully learn what I can do to prevent that injury in the future. Dr. Matt took good care of me, assessed my movement/jump, and gave me 4 drills to take back home and rebuild strength in my hips & lower back. It's been almost a month since my first appointment, and after doing these drills daily, I was able to get back on the court last weekend and run full-court 5s pain free. I'd highly recommend Progressive Motion for your physical therapy needs! Especially if you're a 'weekend warrior' hooper like me. Clean, state of the art facilities and the most cordial, knowledgeable professionals. Thank you PM team!

I never really considered seeing a physical therapist until I started working with Dr. Joey, and I'm so glad I did. During my sessions, we worked through targeted exercises and drills, along with cupping therapy, to improve my mobility and reduce pain. Dr. Joey took the time to educate me on the root causes of my issues and provided video demonstrations of exercises I could continue doing at home. Over time, I noticed a significant improvement in my range of motion and a reduction in pain, especially with everyday activities like bending down and picking things up from the floor. Now that Dr. Joey and Dr. Josh have opened their new facility in Redwood City, I've been able to continue my strength training while also rehabbing my knee in their gym. What really sets Progressive Motion apart is the integrated approach they offer. Not only do you have access to exceptional physical therapy, but there are also in-house personal trainers available to help guide you through your workouts. The entire staff is incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and supportive. Whether you have questions about exercise form, movement mechanics, or injury prevention, there is always someone available to help. It's reassuring to know you're surrounded by Licensed massage therapists, physical therapists, and personal trainers/strength coaches who share a common philosophy. As well as, individuals who genuinely care about helping you move and feel better. I highly recommend Progressive Motion to anyone looking for physical therapy, injury recovery, or simply a supportive environment to improve their strength and overall movement quality.

To say we are disappointed with Diablo's services is an understatement. We are angry, frustrated, and extremely annoyed. When my mom fell last summer and broke her knee, she required PT for her gait, hips, and recovery. We were referred to Diablo in Menlo Park. We were anxious to get her into a routine with a good therapist to get her back on her feet. Instead, we could barely get an appointment. We were constantly told they were understaffed. On top of that, we had to switch therapists because the first one she saw was rude and seemed completely exhausted with her job. Front desk staff promised to call us with cancellations but never did. My mom would go weeks without PT, even though her doctor's referral specifically ordered sessions two times per week. We are not high-maintenance people. We tried to be patient and understanding about the staffing shortages. However, after talking with others, I realized this business seems to prefer clients who pay out of pocket over those using Medicare. We felt completely pushed off. I have never seen such a cold, unfriendly, and unaccommodating business. It is truly sad. After eight months of putting up with Diablo, we finally switched to Star Physical Therapy in Redwood City. They have been fabulous! We have no problem getting appointments. They text us immediately if there is a cancellation, and they send regular text and email reminders. Shame on us for not doing this sooner. The environment at Star is warm and inviting, with great music playing. All of the therapists are upbeat and genuinely care. They even help walk my mom to the car and offer heating treatments when she is in discomfort. They also have much more equipment than Diablo. While it is frustrating that we aren't further along a year after her fall, we are so grateful we found Star. My mom actually looks forward to going to PT now.

In the middle of training for a 100 mile running race, I had the misfortune of pulling a hamstring muscle. This might have spelled disaster, but in a matter of weeks, Joe was able to not only get it functioning but also educate me on possible root causes and fixes. I was able to attend a high mileage training camp that never would have been possible without Joe's help. Joe takes the time to really understand what's going on by listening and asking questions. He uses a variety of techniques, such as acupuncture, cupping, ART, and stretching to fix the problem, but he doesn't stop there. I believe Joe's uniqueness is in how adept he is at discovering the underlying issues causing the problem(s). Both he and his wife, Sara, are highly successful athletes themselves, so when you explain your issues, he really understands and takes the time to get you moving properly. I would recommend Joe not only to people currently experiencing an injury, but also to those who have any pains at all. It is worth the investment to get in and get fixed early before it impacts your life and Joe will help get you on the right path to prevent future injuries. He is professional and caring and really knows his stuff inside out. My next review will be after I finish the 100 mile race successfully without injury thanks to Joe's expertise. I really cannot thank him enough.

I am so thankful for the quality of care…read moreshe has received at Atherton P.A. and for the hard work of staff to keep the facility clean. I heard warnings about the quality of SNFs available for Kaiser patients. Since I was worried for my mother, I toured several facilities before I found Atherton Post Acute. I left several messages to all of the facilities contracted with Kaiser, as well as filled out their contact forms. Atherton was one of the two who called me timely. Some of them still have not responded. From the start, the cleanliness and patient centered environment is what attracted me to this SNF. My mother had a rough start at the facility and the nurses were very caring and patient. After the initial anxiety my mom had, two of the night nurses told me that it often takes a couple of days for a patients to get settled in. They completely understood and told me how much my mom loves to converse with them. The PT and other activities are so varied, my mom appreciates she has a choice of things to do. She particularly loves the ability to receive Holy Communion. She has come to understand that she has work hard to get through the PT and healing and that there are things she can do there to help the time pass easier. Communicating with their coordinators and managers is very easy. I found that my mom's renal diet food was making her miserable. The coordinator quickly worked it out with the cook, and she has been really happy with the variety. Everyday, I've seen my mom's spirit improve. The doctor and nurse coordinator has been on top of my mom's improvement and it's so easy to talk to them about her medical condition. They have given her outstanding personal care. The staff is friendly and are very respectful about privacy. Many of the patients need personal help, and you never see people in there rooms being cleaned up or changed. It really helps that the staff are cheerful and caring. The facility has really nice community areas. Patients have the option to sit together in a dining room, or dine in their rooms. The rehab room is huge and my mom has been having fun with some of the easier exercises. Everyday, laundry is taken out and washed when requested, and everything from socks to toothpaste are readily and happily given when requested. It is always nice seeing the nurses and other staff make their rounds because they are so friendly and always glad to help. I would highly recommend this SNF to anyone.

There were a few nurses who were truly compassionate -- they hugged us, reassured us, and made it clear that my father's comfort mattered. Those moments meant more to us than they will ever know. However, there were also nurses whose approach felt cold and dismissive. One nurse was so blunt that he didn't even finish feeding my father because it was taking him too long to chew. In a place meant for comfort and dignity, moments like that were deeply painful to witness. The facility itself could also use more nurturing care. The environment felt in need of better cleanliness and attention, which is especially important in a setting where families are already carrying so much emotional weight. Sadly, my father passed away. I do want to acknowledge one nurse on the third floor who stood out beyond words. From my very first visit, which was incredibly emotional she assured me she would take the best care of my father, and I believed her. Her compassion, warmth, and humanity brought comfort to our family during the hardest days of our lives. I saw her again recently and couldn't help but hug her. If you are reading this, please know you are truly an angel. I only wish I had remembered your name. May God bless you with love, peace, and happiness. Hospice care should be built on patience, kindness, and dignity. I hope this facility reflects deeply on the care it provides, because families will remember these moments forever.
